Friendly and very thorough. Brought a car here for a used car inspection. It did take about an hour and was $75, but they gave me a four-page print out showing every detail from the battery to all the codes picked up. They talk to me a little bit after about the car and recommendations for potentially going down the rebuilt route. Great experience, Ive been to a lot of mechanic shops would say theyre in the top 10% easily.

Ive been using State Auto for various things on my Land Cruiser for several years. Its great to have a shop thats familiar with a vehicle and not be paying the dealership labor rates. They do awesome work, use OEM or quality parts from a local Cruiser shop, and are very honest in their estimates and time frames.Id been so focused on them with my Land Cruiser, I hadnt thought about them having work on my other vehicles. I asked for a quote for the 90k on my Camry, not only were they happy to do it, but it was 30% less than the dealer price.Finally, I recommended them to a neighbor after she had sticker shock over what a local dealer wanted to diagnose the vent controls on their daughters Corolla not working. The State Auto crew dug into it, found a very simple issue, and didnt charge her. Again, great crew, highly recommend.

The guys at State Automotive represent everything a good business should be these days. I had a check engine light issue with my 2005 Lexus GX470 that I was not able to figure out on my own. I left it with them for a day in which they were able to test a few things, but were not able to completely diagnose the issue. They communicated with me multiple times explaining the process at my level of understanding and gave me multiple options to work with. Ultimately they diagnosed the issue and replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor and kept the vehicle an extra day to run through everything and ensure that it was in good working order. They were very friendly, knowledgable, reasonably priced, and professional. They have gained a customer for life. I highly recommend them to anyone in the SLC area. I would even drive an hour if needed to have them work on my vehicles again.

I recently purchased a used truck that had some electrical issues and was in need of some basic maintenance. I brought it to Dustin and his crew at State Automotive for help. I love these guys. They are unlike any other service center I’ve ever dealt with. The entire staff are great!! A few years ago I had my A/C system replaced, but turns out the mechanic I went to didnt do the work I paid for. Ive used State Automotive in the past, and should have gone there the first time. When I went to pick up my car, I went in for a few minor repairs, and to have my A/C charged. Dustin told me they did the best they could, but I needed to have it replaced. I talked it over with him, and decided to have them do the work. I had it back a couple of weeks and it wasnt blowing very cold. I called and explained this, took it back in yesterday. It was done by 2:00 today. Turns out the valve was faulty. They did it under warranty and now it is cold enough I have to turn it down to low. Nick, the mechanic was also able to fix the vent, again. The lever had broken off a year ago.This is the most honest and reasonable priced mechanic Ive ever gone to and they truly care about you and your satisfaction. Pete is great too. Very satisfied with State Automotive! They changed my steering rack, did some job on the engine, and installed a new front brake system for my Land Cruiser 2006. Everything was quick and within the estimated time and budget. Dustin was making it a very easy and transparent experience. Very good pricing, easy to reach out to have an update. I have tried Karl Malone and Larry H Miller Toyota dealerships and had a very frustrating experience with both so dont waste your time and money just give State Automotive a shot and you will love it.

Straight forward mechanic shop. I dropped off my vehicle with an opened ended “I don’t know what’s wrong”. Instead of drumming up a list of things to make themselves money, the team investigated the issue and ultimately recommended a technical repair that they recommended I get from a specialist. Pretty rare to get honest results from a mechanic shop these days. Their diagnosis work was ridiculously inexpensive as well. Great shop.

I brought them a recently bad installation and problematic 2013 tacoma, I was at a complete loss and pretty down on the truck at that point. I can now say I love my truck again and feel confident in knowing there is a superbly qualified auto specialist just a phone call away. We bring all of our vehicles to State Automotive ranging from Toyota to VW to Subaru. While these guys are superior in dealing with toyota, they are wizards with other vehicle manufactures. While they can work miracles, it also important to remember that some problems cant be fixed. Dustin and his crew are straight up with you about it and will offer an honest opinion. I took my Honda CRV in for a p0341 code. This code means the problem could be caused by a number of things from a simple sensor all the way to a new timing chain. They kept my CRV overnight and did a pretty thorough diagnostic. They noticed that my oil level was low, one of the things that can cause this code to appear. All sensors tested good so they recommend starting with an oil change and some additives. Although there’s no guarantee that the problem is solved, I paid $86 dollars for the oil change and that’s it. Because they couldn’t say for sure that my CRV is fixed, they didn’t charge me for the hours spent researching the problem. I’ve read horror stories regarding this issue, costing people thousands of dollars. State Automotive showed a level of honesty and integrity that is hard to find by recommending the cheapest fix first and by not charging me for work that didn’t guarantee a fix. I’ll be taking my vehicles there from now on and will recommend them to my friends and family.

I was referred to them by a friend and now I will be doing the referring. Not only did they fix my car quickly but it was very affordable. Phenomenal auto shop. Dustin helped me out with installing and setting up a new suspension system + lift on my 2016 4runner. Super knowledgeable guys, who live/eat/breathe this stuff everyday. I talked to 4 other shops, all of which were minimally responsive and not super helpful over the phone, but the guys at State Automotive were awesome. Reasonable install price, offered their personal opinion on how much to lift the front and back, and communicated well throughout the whole process with text/phone updates to me as needed. Would absolutely recommend them, especially if you have a Toyota 4x4. Will be a return customer.

I went in for an oil change with coupon mailer. I called the day before and asked if they did tire rotations with service and they said yes. Quoted me 60 bucks (plus tax/fees) and 45 minutes to complete job over phone so i agreed and set appointment. When they started to pull my car out I noticed they hadnt rotated tires. I asked again if tire rotation was a part of service and they told me to request it to be done. Before car was pulled out they caught mechanic. Total time and price out door, 88 dollars (with save 15 dollar coupon) and one hour. They charged 20 dollars for tire rotation. Its free everywhere else and they never quoted me a price when I asked twice if it was included. Even though the shop seemed nice and the staff was friendly and work done seemed quality, I wont be a returning customer. Without coupon, oil change and rotation would be 103 dollars.

When the check engine came on in my Jeep my sister highly recommended State Automotive. I’m so glad she did! I’m new to the area and it’s so hard to know who you can trust. I’ve been so grateful to SA for being honest with me and giving me excellent customer service.

My experience with State Automotive has been nothing but A+ for my 1984 Land Cruiser 60 series #StewieTheFJ60 😁 From my first call with the receptionist, through out the whole process of all the service done. That’s how they’ve earned my continual business and recommendation, for caring about the quality of the whole process.Let me tell you a little about why this matters so much to me. I live and reside in Hawai’i, I travel to the states 3 to 4 times a year to do overland style or back country trips for photography and to spend QT with my faves. So having a shop that I can trust from more than 5k miles away to have my rig road & off road worthy from the middle of the pacific, is huge to me. Gives me the time to worry about where I will be planning my primitive campsites and route. Looking for many more epic adventures in my 60 series Land Cruiser.

I own and run a motorcycle repair business after trusting my tanks to be properly flushed, cleaned and restored by this shop a few times- I began double checking their work only to find they were not properly cleaning and restoring them. If you decided to use this shop you will need to double check their work and make sure they are going all the way and not just half. Good enough is not what I give my clients - I give the best. Glad I caught this right away.... heads up.

I was referred to State Automotive by a body shop that had fixed body damage to my car. The employees at the auto body place take their cars there and highly recommended them. I paid State Automotive to do a Buyers Inspection for me on an 80 series Land Cruiser since I live out of town and the Land Cruiser was close to the shop anyways and Cruiser Outfitters recommended State Automotive. They did catch a few things, but neglected to find or at least tell me about the leaking front main seal, the leaking rear main seal, the unsecured and melted O2 sensor wiring, the rusty and quite corroded rear heater hose connections, leaking front pinion seal that ran the front diff bone dry on the drive home, and the non-functional locking center differential. This is only what Ive found in having the truck for a couple days in my garage. I most assuredly will not recommend friends or family go to this shop based upon my personal experience.

Very disappointed. Three years in a row, they have gotten oil all over my truck ; on the fenders, the chrome grille, the previously unblemished custom bumper, down the side of the engine and down into the skid plate, where it drips slowly onto the floor of my garage. Even the quick lube places never did such sloppy work on my truck! Since I am very particular about the care of my truck and I keep it very clean, this has changed my mind about State Automotive. Going to have to find a new place to get my oil changed from now on. ☹️

Super honest diagnosis and repair. Dustin explained the possible causes of a leak in the rear differential. Once they got into it and knew what was causing the leak he called with an estimate. The part was ordered and the car was ready the next morning. Recommend to anyone needing diagnosis and repair work done!
