I had my car towed to Larry Miller (used) service center and they could not figure out what was wrong with my car. (It shut off going 70 mph on the freeway). They literally were calling me asking what I thought they should do. They didnt even do a diagnostic work up on it. Ridiculous. Then we decided to take it to Viking. Sam was great and gave us a plan from the start. They actually know what they are doing and we couldnt be more grateful. It was literally a simple battery and oil issue.

Very professional, very accommodating and very honest. My AC in my car was blowing hot air, I tried to put freon in it and it was leaking out the bottom. When I took it to them they provided a loaner car for me and they diagnosed my issue quickly and effectively. My cars AC is works great and the cost was better than fair. Great place for Auto repair.

Look. Taking your vehicle to a mechanic sucks. Even small things can get expensive when youre paying for skilled labor. The folks here at Viking Automotive made the process as painless as possible though. Quick, clear, and unbiased communication. Phenomenal customer service. Hopefully I wont be needing work done again any time soon, but if I do I know where Im going to go.

We went to Viking for a brake repair job. We first took our Durango to West Valley Dodge, they couldn’t repair my SUV and towed it back to me(keep in mind I drive it there with no problem) and they still charged me $700.00!!!🤬🤬 I called Viking and talked to Clayton, who works there, and he told me to bring it in and he would see what he could do. After consulting me, he found the right part and fixed it! The charge was $486.00!!! Viking is the REAL DEAL, and I will diffidently use Viking again if I’m in need… We highly Recommend this company for your needs. Kim Wendel

I called them Tuesday morning and was able to get on their schedule for the afternoon. Came in for an oil change and also needed a sideview mirror assembly replaced (which I had brought with me). They did all of that and also took a look at the headlights since I had a bulb go out that morning. They swapped the bulb and also found some coolant that had been splashed around from (evidently) a broken hood rest. Fair prices, quick service, very professional and friendly demeanor. Highly recommended!

Great service, and friendly staff. Took my car in for an alignment, tune up, and ac recharge. Clayton showed me what happened to my ac. The fan was broken and the ac where it was housed was bent. Have me options and told him to do what has to be done to get my ac working top notch. Replaced my front breaks, and drained and cleaned my radiator. Also comes with a 2 year or 24000 mile warranty on the repairs they did to my car which I am grateful for, and will be bringing my car here for my repairs. Will recommend this shop to family and friends. Keep up the good work guys.

We are on a road trip and ran into a strange car issue. A bird got stuck up near our fog light. It was very sad and very gross. Not knowing what to do I looked up local auto shops. Im so glad we went here! They were so nice, got us right in, and took care of this strange problem free of charge. If I lived here I would absolutely make them my permanent auto shop!!! They were great. I asked for an oil change, an emissions test and a tire rotation. When they called me to tell me it was ready they also informed me that my tires didn’t need to be rotated (so they didn’t do that) and then updated me on the condition of the rest of the car; belts look good, just barely starting to show some cracking, brakes look good don’t need changing quite yet. Basically, I just felt like they were very honest and didn’t try to sell or charge me for things that I didn’t need.

Clayton and Patrick are the best! Their crew truly cares for my car, my moms car, and my dads car. They tell us about the car and always share their knowledge so I can prevent any harm from happening to my car. They are always transparent about the condition of my car and the costs of parts and labor. I also love how they have cookies to share that a wife makes. :) I love Viking!

Its a pretty good auto shop! They were able to get the parts I wanted for my car and sort out an engine light which had been pestering my car for quite some time. Scheduling is pretty flexible, however, I really wish they were open on Saturdays as well... but nobody likes working saturdays so I get it 🤣

I was charged $120 for diagnostic of rear air shocks where I was told I needed to install a New compressor. I didn’t feel comfortable with this diagnosis so I took the Tahoe to a different mechanic with a very good reputation. He went through a new diagnosis, no charge, and discovered the compressor needed a fuse. Everything is working fine now.

Took my truck in for a code p0446 after replacing the evap solenoid myself needed them to do a canister they ran a smoke test replaced the same thing I replaced charged me broke a valve which happens but did everything in their power to avoid responsibility of it made me wait over a week to finally get my truck back to take it somewhere else told me $400 fix and would let me know if anything changed too much from that ended up paying 800 to end up in the same spot that I was in when I took the truck in thanks for the oil change Viking

Dishonesty and extortion lost a loyal customerHad my wife get an oil change and have them make sure there’s no oil leaks while I was at work. After work I came in to pay and had to wait for over an hour until they finally finished talking to people on the phone. They told us some issues they found and told us the repairs would cost over $2,000.00 but refused to tell us how much the different repairs would cost despite us asking several times. They said there was “no way” to tell us, when they’ve ALWAYS done that for me.When we got home we looked at the receipt, and saw that they charged us for changing the oil filter even though we said not to, they put the wrong oil in, and charged us $170.00, over quadruple the price of an oil change anywhere else.

I went in to Viking automotive because my car was overheating, and told them I wasn’t sure why so they took it and did the diagnostic and called me back telling me I needed to replace my water pump along with another part and that was necessary to change with the water pump and those two parts alone would cost $1,000. We called another shop we’ve been to before and asked how much it would cost them to do the same thing? $500. So I sent a tow truck for it and when it arrived for my car they called me and said the company was claiming I owed them money and they wouldn’t release my car and that I needed to pay before he could take it, so I call them and they tell me I’ve got a $135 diagnostic fee. Never was that ever mentioned to me. Not when I took in the car, not when they were mentioning what needed to be fixed and the total cost. Very unprofessional and schemey. Just because I’m taking my car somewhere else you want to find a way to get my money somehow. Greedy. Wont be back, and will tell everything I know with car issues to go avoid this shop. Plenty of shops will diagnose for free and have way better prices.

These guys do good work. Had issues with my clutch and transmission. They diagnosed it quickly and helped me budget for the other repairs my work truck would need this year. They made a mistake on my invoice and ordered double parts. Their parts department caught the mistake and reduced my invoice before I came back in to ask them about it. Patrick and Clayton are good guys. Im out of state and had them do a Pre Purchase Inspection on a higher end classic car. Their report was very comprehensive and easy to read and understand. Patrick even emailed me pics so could get a visual of his comments.

Viking kept my car for 3 days to do the timing belts/water pump. It does not take 3 days to do that. Just be honest at the start and tell me you’re going to let everyone who comes in after me skip in front of me so I can bring it someplace else. Spent way to much in Uber rides as a result. Also the mechanics at Viking still couldn’t find the issue as to why the engine kept over heating. Took it to Honda after and the mechanics pinpointed the issue immediately. Frustrated at the lack of knowledge of the mechanics as that added to additional engine damage. He also charged me more money than he originally said, $12 for a bolt? Don’t change the price just because you see an opportunity. I was just so desperate to get my car back I paid it. It was 2 years ago but I was talking with a friend today and the topic of worst car shop fixing experience came up, it brought up a lot of emotions and this story. I realized I never left a review. I sold the car to a mechanic because it was so damaged from repeat over heating that Viking couldn’t fix or diagnose. I will never recommend Viking.

Since the reviews of this place were good online, I trusted them to take care of my daughter.Her car had been overheating & my husband knows enough about cars that he replaced a coolant sensor & the thermostat himself, yet unfortunately those things did not fix the problem. My daughter is only 20 & is a nurse with a crazy schedule! We took it there, she dropped it off & WAS NEVER TOLD or explained the “diagnostic” fee. They called us, told us a bad water pump, etc. $1700 to fix. Our mechanic who is in Orem (was logistics to get the car from Sandy to Orem w the overheating) told us he could fix it for less than HALF the price Viking quoted! So we informed Viking we would just get it to our mechanic. My daughter arranged a tow truck from Viking down to our guy & was SUDDENLY informed that VIKING WOULD NOT release her vehicle to the tow company without the DIAGNOSTIC FEE of $125.00 being paid first!!! I asked her if they told her about this fee? NO!!! She was not told otherwise she would have NEVER Left her car there in the first place as our mechanic DOES NOT Charge ANYONE to diagnose a problem!!!If I could give VIKING 0 Stars, I Would!!! My daughter has been working the COVID unit the past year & a half. She works from 6 am to 6 pm. She is EXHAUSTED! Having this problem with her car has been difficult at best just to get it looked at with her schedule. Just another example of a mechanic/shop taking advantage of a young female!!! Thanks for charging my daughter a fee without her knowledge! Way to go VIKING! Way to take care of a young nurse who has been taking care of COVID patients for over a year! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND this place to anyone!!!It seems there is not a place to respond to your comments. The service provided by Viking was by appointment. Viking service was on time and expertly provided. The cost was in fact a couple dollars less than quoted. I noted while I was there the type of work being done on other vehicles. The impression I came away with was that these were excellent mechanics doing good work at reasonable prices. I do recommend and indeed have already spoken with others about Viking automotives excellent service.

Theseare the nicest and most professional and knowledgeable guys that have ever worked on my car. I was referred to them by another great place, Lone Peak, and I walked in off the street. It was the first time I had ever been there, and they were so great. They ran down a problem with a light bulb in the front and switched it out for nothing! My A/C button started blinking inside my 2012 Tacoma. The A/C no longer was working. I brought it in to get checked out. With in two hours they had it dignosed. My A/C compressed is broken. The reason they get 4 stars is because they are too expensive. The labor is 111 an hour, but also they charge double what the parts cost at an auto part store such as orielys and then they knock them when I tell them. Saying they have cheap parts. I have never had an issue with orielys. I bought my own parts, but they want to charge me higher labor for buying my own parts and can save 400 bucks. If I can make a quoted 1200 job 800 I am going too. They still want to make it 1200 even if I get my own parts. I wont use them. They also didnt call me to pick up my vehicle. They made me call them to see if it was ready.

I am relatively new to the area and am looking for a new mechanic that I can trust to do great work and not take advantage of my ignorance of cars.I found Viking from the great ratings, needed A few things done. They told me some of the work that another place told me needed to be done, was not needed. Handled my issue quickly and went above and beyond in finding a part quickly before a road trip.They couldn’t have done more to earn my future business. Got a simple tire rotation and oil change.I made an appointment the day before and was greeted by a friendly voice on the other end of the line.They took my car information and set me up. I even asked for both a time and cost estimate and they quickly and succinctly gave me the info.I got there and the waiting area was heated, and they provided WiFi while I waited. I got there a little early and they took my car in almost immediately.When the work was done, they let me know about maintenance timetables and things to be aware of without being pushy or trying to upsell me on anything. That is a very fine line to walk, and I feel like they did it well.All in, it took about an hour for the oil change and tire rotation. For further work Im planning on going back.

This is probably the best place I found to take a car too. Every time I felt like I had a problem I take it in to them. They have done a few things for free to get me back on road, once my car tire was ready to explode and unsafe, they referred me to a couple trusted tire places and a price I should pay for new tires. Looked at it free.I also took another car in for a service, they looked it over and told me car repairs that might need to happen in future later down the road and to keep an eye out for it.I had a car with power steering problems. It needed a flush but I didn’t have time right then to make an appointment. No pressure from them at all. They top me off so I wouldn’t run dry and I was able to get by for another week. Again for Free. I was afraid I caused damage but they were able to keep it working and it drives a lot better without spending more money than needed.I purchased a new truck. I knew they had a lifetime oil change package. So much better service than purchasing from dealers. They gave my truck a good look over and let me know everything they could find to be aware of. Told me how to take care of truck with good pointers to keep it running perfect.So many times they could have taken advantage of me or fix things that didn’t need it, or upcharge for services but didn’t.I could seriously just drop a car off and give them my credit card and be confident it would be fixed professionally and done right without me second guessing.I will take all my cars here for services or repairs. I will never buy a service packag from another dealer again. I would refer anyone here and encourage you to try them at least once to see the service you get with them. Every time I’ve been there they have given me the best service possible. I think they understand that good honest services will lead to more jobs for them.

I have never had a better experience with an automotive shop! I am from out of town and when I realized my radiator was cracked and Id need to replace it ASAP, I was very anxious about vetting a trustworthy auto shop, about the cost of the repair, and about the time commitment to get the repair. Viking Automotive quoted me a great price and were able to get me into the shop in a timely manner. I went in ahead of time, so they could officially diagnose the problem and I immediately got great vibes from the entire crew--they were good listeners, they didnt try to up-sell me, and they actually seemed to try to give me the best price possible. Possibly BEST of all, the price I paid for my services ended up being a bit lower than the quoted price AND the total turnover time to get the repair only ended up being THREE HOURS for me on this day. I cant guarantee that youll make out like a bandit like I did, but I CAN guarantee that youll get phenomenal service at a reasonable price if you do business with Viking Automotive. 10/10 recommend!

This is hands down the best automotive shop I have ever been to! My truck was in multiple shops for four months and then found this place and they had my truck fixed within a week!

Viking Automotive has become my trusted place to take my car. They are honest and never pushy. Last time I brought my car in they told me all the things that should get serviced but didn’t pressure me to fix everything right then. They let me know which things were a priority to take care of right away and which things could wait a little while. Then I was able to split up the cost and come back to fix the other things. Before buying a used car I brought it in to them and they inspected it for me. It helped me feel good about my purchase and negotiate the price and any repairs I wanted made before purchase. Viking does great work and they are great people. They always give to local charity as well, even fixing and giving away cars at Christmas time.

Stay away from these guys. they will tell you your car needs a bunch of un-needed repairs to get your car registered, then over-charge you on the repairs. and they charge a credit card fee who does that?

I was referred to Viking Automotive by two of my close friends. I dont like to use a mechanic without a referral. My first impression was that they were super nice. They told me it would take one day to fix my car. One day turned into three. I would have been fine with this had there been any communication. Every day I had to call and see if my car was going to be finished or if I had to find another ride. Got super frustrated having to call for every update. Once I did pick up my car I was driving when I realized they did not put my snow tires back into my car. I called them and they felt bad and offered to bring the tires to my work so I didnt have to go back to the shop. I told them that would be great. No one brings my tires. I call and am then told that the next day at lunch they will bring it by. Two days go by, no tires, no phone call. They also forgot to turn off the code on my car. Had to call, yet again to see when this would all get taken care of. Left a voicemail as it was after hours when I was able to call, expressing my frustration and really wondering when I will get my tires back. Next day no one returned my phone call. I ended up having to get one of my friends involved. Once Clayton got involved things finally started happening. He did forget the computer to turn the code off on my car, but he kept in contact with me, texting me to let me know when he would come by, and actually stuck to that commitment. Overall very frustrated with the level of service I received and lack of communication and care. Im also still not even convinced my tires were put back on properly but Im still recovering from the whole ordeal and do not want to have to contact them again.

If I had bought that vehicle I would have been stuck with the maintenance to get it road worthy. I highly recommend Viking for service on your vehicles as well as way to ensure your used car purchases are wise

This was my first time going to Viking and I was impressed. I was attended to well, they explained what was wrong with my AC in a slow, complete way, and they were able to get me out of there quickly. I never felt like they were pushing for more repairs. I will be going back.

So dishonest and incompetent.I asked for an oil change and for them to check if the oil was leaking because I had spilled some and wanted to be sure what I saw on the bottom was just what I spilled.I requested synthetic blend and they assured me thats what they would use. They LIED and used full synthetic (which is more expensive).They also changed the oil filter and charged me for it without my permission and despite my asking that they only change the oil.Then they checked the other systems of my car for leaks and issues (soooo good right? NOPE) I wouldnt have gotten very upset with them doing extra and informing me, but they charged me for the time they spent checking things I did not authorize and washing my AC filter that had absolutely nothing to do with changing my oil!!!They charged me almost $200 for an oil change that they screwed up.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The work was quick, and they were exceptionally accommodating when I didn’t have an appointment to help ensure my car was taken care of. Highly recommended!

Great service. Came in to get a tire patched, and unfortunately wasnt able to do so due to the location of puncture. The guys working told me Ill have to get 2 new tires eventually and offered to help me shop for some since they dont actually sell tires out of their shop. After lifting my car they found a few other issues that need to be tended to eventually. Instead of taking advantage of me they said this is most likely covered under my car warranty and to check in with Honda first. Its service like this thatll keep me coming back. Thanks yall!

Fixed my surging idle issue with my Mitsubishi Lancer that 2 other mechanic friends could not figure out thank you Viking auto would go back for more service in the futureThey also went above N beyond and replaced my fuel injectors for no additional cost due to check engine light I can now say its been off for weeks now and theyve have my thanks

This shop is the best in town. They are honest and always tell you what they would do if it was them with a car needing repairs. They also have a wealth of information and a great place to visit to have a car inspected before you buy it. They are quick and good at what they do. They are also very kind. I highly recommend them for repairs and consultations.

Viking is best in the Salt Lake Valley. Theyre honest, never try to nickel and dime you, and do great work.

I left a voice mail describing some work I needed done and they ended up not working on that type of body work but still called me back and gave me some great suggestions and referrals to other companies ans was very kind and professional.We took our old truck in (separate unrelated encounter with them) to get work done but it ended up worse than we thought. Everyone was honest about the work, communicated and updated us regularly, and again provided alternative options. Prices are reasonable, best customer service!
