A great little design boutique located in the interior passageway of the 1111 parking garage designed by Herzog and Demeuron.
An amazing, hidden away gem for really wonderful niche perfumes, toiletries, and skincare. Come here for great gifts for yourself or others. They have Comme des Garçons fragrances as well Santa Maria Novella skincare. Im sure they would do really well if they werent hidden down an ally. They are near the Taschen store.
I have to say, I used to love babalu simply because of the products they sold. It is a good collection of amazing items from around the world. Recently, Ive lowered my opinion of the store for several reasons. ALL OF THE EMPLOYEES act fake. One of the guys started to act British and now speaks with a British accent, although he isnt (and I know because Ive been going here for years, and the first time we spoke, he told me where he was from and spoke differently). The woman who works there now, Erika (I believe) PROMISED to let me know when a sold out product would return because I was extremely interested in buying it. I questioned her several times Will you really be sure to contact me? She PROMISED and didnt follow through. My final straw was when I arrived to use a GiltCity coupon that I had purchased. It was expired, but as per GiltCity policy and agreement with the vendor *which is stated directly on the coupon****, the vendor must honor the original price paid for the coupon once it has expired. Pedro, the manager on duty, approached my friend and me very rudely, and when we asked if we could use the coupon, he said NO. Not only was his tone of voice rude, but the expression on his face was rude and demeaning. He, in no way, acted with good intent. Of course, it is up to management to follow policies set by the company, but in all of my experience working in customer service, Ive always been told No is simply not an option to say to a customer. Nonetheless, he was demeaning and rude in the way he responded to several of our questions about the coupon. I showed him the policy that Gilt sets (about the vendor honoring at least the value paid for), and he acted like he had never seen that before. I would expect that if you are a manager, you would know about the coupons and promotions you are offering. If you dont, you shouldnt be in charge. After minutes of stepping away to call someone, he came back, completely changed his face and mood to be nice, and said ok, good to go! He allowed us to use the coupon. In my opinion, he made himself look ignorant and made me really hate the store. If you are going to be a manager, I suggest that you learn what customer service looks like, and dont participate in promotions you cannot or do not want to honor. Also, a good attitude while dealing with a customer goes a LONG WAY. I can find the same products online cheaper anyway..... Thank you. Im hoping Babalu pays a little more attention to the way they treat customers in the future. They are treating wealthy clientele rudely.
