Didnt get names but the African American lady that works the later shift was outstanding. Her phone customer service was even better in person. All around great experience and I sold a car that I owed a balance on and still took a couple thousand home. Best place if you want to get rid of a note on a extra car like me.
Great place to sell your car. Very fair and done as quickly as they can. Very trustworthy as long as you have all of your paperwork and your car is ready to go.
Love this car dealership. No haggle made it easy since it was priced appropriately. Salesman was also not pushy and gave us time to think about an extra charge we were not sure about purchasing. We also got in and out, and still had time to get dog food at Costco before it closed. It was a good night. Will definitely use Merrillville CarMax again.

Update:Take advantage of your 30 day 1500 mile warranty. Carmax has followed up with the issues I found and is doing all they can to repair them. We are waiting for Toyota to send a new part. When you clean and detail a car. Would it hurt to spend a bit more time on the door and tailgate jams. I always clean mine. My license plate bolts were the self tapping lag bolts that go into rubber or fiberglass facia. Not metal. So they were loose and did not hold the plate well. One just plain sheered off. They needed to be regular Toyota bolts used. Same issue with the front plate mount. The same type wood lag bolt type screws were used.Carpet for some reason has a dust under the drivers portion of the car front and back that will not go away. it keeps coming up through the carpet. Touch screen not operating in corners. cant disconnect a call or pull up sign ons that are on the vehicle. Price was basically at market but just a little higher by a few hundred dollars. other than that I was okay with the experience there.
My car has been in and out of the shop since I bought it over issues that should’ve been handled before purchase while doing their “125 inspections” and the most recent time I’ve had to bring it in they didn’t secure my tire so when I went to take a look at it my tire was so loose the bolts could unscrew with my hands they’ve endangered my life at this point and I do not recommend getting a car here. A warranty is only useful when you aren’t sold the trashiest of trash
Went in to get my air conditioning fix. The staff was very pleasant and welcoming. EVERYONE acknowledged me and welcomed me with a good morning. Prior to, when purchased my vehicle, staff was very friendly and patient when helping on the car lot and while filling out paper work.

The CarMax experience is great… as long as you’re only buying. My truck has been having issues since I bought it. Don’t get me wrong, I love my truck, but i would love it more if it weren’t such a hassle. CarMax had taken care of my truck a few times, but then they started telling me that i need to take it somewhere else because they’re too backed up. I got this excuse for about a year. Now I’m getting the runaround on my loaner car thats part of the warranty, and I called carmax and they said they wont help me since the truck isn’t at their shop…. The one that they told me not to come to… so now I’m stuck at home with no car and a cancelled vacation ( i explained this to them and they still would not help me). Super cool (not). I will never buy from CarMax again. If you don’t expect anything great from their service team, you’ll never be disappointed though. I’m only giving it 2 stars because they made me feel great buying the car… kind of when you go on a great first date and then the relationship just turns into toxic turmoil 6 months later when you’re out of the honeymoon stage and they don’t need anything from you anymore.

Worst car place ever I will never in my life shop with carmax again at least not at this location. I purchased a suv back in February and since then I have had nothing but hell with that vehicle. Service department is terrible this will make the 4th time my suv had to be picked up on a tow truck because its not drivable at all.I have bigger things and life then to keep putting thing on hold because of car issues. I am thinking about taking legal actions

Honestly, everything up to the customer service to getting my car was a wonderful and easy experience. Everyone was super helpful and answered all my questions and concerns. The only bad thing I could say was the amount of time it took to get the car shipped in to my area, but I guess you can say I was also impatient and ready to get my new car lol
Basically every aspect of my purchase was super easy and enjoyable. My salesman, Josh was awesome and Mike in the service department was awesome as well! The only reason I had to meet Mike is because my car was mistakenly placed with an ad that said it had remote start. After I took delivery of the vehicle I called my salesman when I realized it did not have remote start and within the hour they called me back and offered to have it installed for for free! To me that is strong customer service!
I had an offer on my car. It had expired and we had to start the process again but Emily was informative and helpful during the process. It did take a couple of hours but it all went well and I was paid more than the original quote!
The GOOD: The buying process was extremely smooth and transparent which I did like, they even put the car on hold for me for a few days until I was able to obtain the funds to get the car.The BAD: They sold me a faulty car, a 2015 Volkswagen GTI 2 days into owning the car I had a Cylinder 2 misfire and the car limped on the highway which could’ve gotten me killed, it seems as if the car was just washed and sold to me and not thoroughly inspected beforehand. I have been given a loaner in the meantime while the car gets fixed, but this is ridiculous. I drove the car for a total of maybe 4 days and I’ve been stuck with this loaner for almost a week now. The Car even had the wrong coolant in it, which is also extremely damaging for the vehicle if not taken car of immediately. I am not expecting a full refund, because I do love the car that I did buy, but I am expecting this issue be taken care of and I will not be buying another vehicle from them if this issue persists. Overall, I am extremely disappointed, but I am glad that the issue is being taken care of. It seems to be in a not-so timely manner, but taken care of nonetheless…

David was our sales person. I told him what I wanted and what I didnt want. He did a great job! There was not any push to place me in something higher than what I wanted to spend. He was very patient and accommodating. We drove away in our New Nissan Rogue! I highly recommend that you requested him if you need a vehicle!
The sales people (Tiffany and Dylan) were terrific. The car we bought was shipped in from Indianapolis and was just what we wanted and advertised. The only reason I didnt give Carmax 5 stars was the purchasing on the last day. We brought the title of our trade in along with a check for the full amount remaining. Should have been fast, eh? No, it was just over 2 hours to get us out the door. The financial lady (problem: there was only one) was closing out another sale and didnt get to us until we had waited an hour and a half. Way TOO LONG since we brought everything for a quick sale.
Even with the no contact procedures in place the entire staff was very professional courteous and outgoing
I had Grant Stevens as my sales associate and he was everything you expect and more, this was my first time buying a car and I was doing it myself, grant was patient and helpful in every aspect I needed. My CarMax associate was awesome! Which made our car buying experience the best we have ever had. She went above and beyond to help us and not have to spend the entire day. The provided us with the quickest easiest car buying experience we arrived a bit early for our appointment and at 1:30pm she came to the waiting are next we test drove and by 3:30pm we were walking out of the door with our keys in our hand and extremely happy customers.

They said it would take 30 mins or less to appraise my car, it took over 2 hours for them to look at it. Then they appraised it and said they would have a quote out for us in 10-15 minutes. After one hour we went inside and asked and they just said oops we will print that now. TERRIBLE SERVICE.

Bought a car here a month ago! Grant was very patient and informative as it took a few hours of looking around for the perfect car! I needed to get the wiper blades replaced and they sent me a reimbursement check less than a week later. The car drove 2000 miles across the country with no issues, so definitely reliable. Great place for used cars if youre ok with spending a little extra. The buying process was super easy and customer service was phenomenal.
I started out feeling like a victim because my newly purchased certified cars brakes, front and back and bearings were bad and ld had car over 90 days. Carmax blessed me and did everything for free. Saved me about a $1000.00 l couldnt afford. Do l 💘 them, you better know it!!! So, Google friends, get that extended warranty.

I honestly didnt know CarMax was even a company until I was looking on cargurus.com and located a car that i completely fell in love with. I took a chance on them, and booked an appt where they put the car on hold for me because I was coming from almost 4 hours away. I had a minor set back and wasnt able to meet my first appt time, but contacted them to reschedule and without hesitation, they placed me on another time slot. The lady I was working work (unfortunately I forgot her name - but she was at the Merrillville Indiana location) was amazing! Her personality alone made my car buying experience even better. No hassle, no haggle with the down payment and was approved very quickly for my Dream car. Pria was very professional and did an outstanding job getting the car I wanted shipped from another CarMax out of state. I was amazed at how fast they operate. Not going anywhere else in the future to purchase a car. Only CarMax. I highly, Highly recommend Carmax for purchasing a used Vehicle.
The buying experience itself was easy, and so was transfer of the vehicle from one location to another.However, car was NOT cleaned prior to delivery. There were smeared stains which looked like food on the steering wheel, fingerprints and white scruff marks on the glovebox. There were hairpins being pulled out of the back seat. I expected a cleaner vehicle for the overprice that I’m already going to be paying for.
From start to finish, CarMax employees were kind, professional, and took COVID-19 guidelines seriously. I was very happy with the amount of money they offered me for my used Nissan. CarMax actually offered me $1k more than the Nissan dealership. Overall this CarMax was a simple and great experience.

We test drove and wound up buying. The only issue we had was that it was a Friday afternoon, and they were super busy so there was a long wait. I had a good experience overall but the process just takes extremely long. I purchased a car and the first time it took five hours to complete the process.The car had to be repaired and was in the shop for over a week. I got the car back and a week later had the same problems again. I returned the car for repairs again and it was another five days. I decided to return the car and purchased a different car. The second return/purchase took four hours. To long to buy a car where the price is already decided.

I had a phenomenal experience! I needed a vehicle with a 3rd row seat so my family can be comfortable! I got so much more! Joseph Tyler in customer experience did everything prior to my appointment and made sure I was prepared. He helped me choose financing, got my car shipped from Illinois, helped me upload all of my documents, and made sure I got all the information for my insurance policy. The day of the appointment there was a hiccup thinking I had curbside pickup but I didnt. Needless to say Susan was so helpful! She prepared my documents while I waited for my appointment and before I knew it I was meeting Jeffrey, test driving my pre-selected vehicle, swiping my card, signing my paperwork, and driving away. The huge bow when I walked out was an excellent surprise! I loved it and he connected my phone before I drove away! Best car shopping experience ever.

Zero stars if I honestly could. They will sell you an overpriced vehicle that will most likely need major repairs( if not immediately then definitely within the coming months) Whats even more crazy is some service reps have a really bad attitude over the phone and ask you to take your car directly to the dealership because their mechanics don’t touch the car! So instead of paying a 250 dollar deductible taking the vehicle to the place I bought it from I get to pay 300 going to the original dealership I shouldve bought my car from! Will never buy from this scam of a company again and I highly advise you don’t bother if you’re considering.

No pushy salesmen, the price is clearly stated on every auto. I felt welcomed, and the staff were pleasant when asked questions. I highly recommend CARMAX to friends and family.

Always heard about Carmax and the no haggle price stuff. Everyone in the building was super nice and friendly. Always bought new so didnt really have a reason to visit. My latest vehicle was a lease and because of the current used car market I had some positive equity and Carmax was willing to pay me more than my lease end residual price. I tried going to some local dealers and got low ball offers. As I was finalizing my deal at Carmax the dealership I leased the vehicle from had the audacity to call me and make one last attempt. They lost their chance and I was happy to give my business to Carmax. If I ever need to purchase a used car I will 100% be back.

On top of it all someone stole my truck I was financing...I DROVE OFF THE LOT and had multiple finance lenders willing to help me!! I am truly greatful and impressed. You wont get the best loan interest rate. You wont even get the bestest price for the vehicle you purchase...but... Ive purchased 3 vehicles from Carmax over the years and keep coming back because Ive gotten great cars from them and excellent service. I also make sure I buy the bumper to bumper extended warranty, so I pay for the excellent service. The financing process is easy. The cars Ive purchased range in mileage from 65k to 85k and 4-7 years old. And I have driven each all of them for 10 years and 200,000 plus miles. I purchased a 2004 Buick Regal that was issue free. I just bought a 2011 Lincoln MKX in beautiful condition with 85k miles. I bought a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica in 2008 with 65k miles; today it has 267,000 miles and Im still driving it. Of course Ive had to do some maintenance on the vehicle since then, but overall, Ive been pretty issue-free with cars that have come from CarMax. Im a very happy customer.
