Im not a coffee drinker so maybe thats the problem but my friend and I came here expecting decent breakfast and it was, simply put, pretty horrible and overpriced. I ordered avocado toast with eggs and it was immediately clear that not only was everything on the plate pre frozen (including the avocado!) but it was bland and the texture tough. My friend had a similar experience. All the baked good are frozen and shipped in also, I asked.
Great service! My husband went to get coffees and breakfast for us both as we had limited options in our hotel. The Santa Fe burrito was awesome! The breakfast sandwiches were also great. He had the Delta and I had the mocha latte. Both great. We gave recommendations to other friends in town at the same time as well.
Good food bad customer service unless your a blonde female and your skinny. The men are rude and dismissive. Working in customer service you should show respect regardless of who are you attracted too or who you prefer to service. I know people are automatically nicer when they find someone attractive but not when you are trying to make money. All money is green loves do better. Memphis is predominately African American and your downtown what did you expect to see ?
We stopped in for a late breakfast, which is served till 2 so that’s wonderful! Anyways the coffee (hot & cold) we’re both amazing. I had a breakfast burrito, even tho I would have enjoyed a little more bacon in it, it was delish! My boyfriend had a Santa Fe burrito and the black bean & corn salsa is highly recommended on this burrito! He enjoyed it immensely! Their seasonal fruit was also fresh. Thanks for a great meal at the beginning of beautiful day here on Beale Street!!
Nice place with coffee, food, and some old school video games
My very first time here... very laid back. The food, the hot tea and mimosas were delicious
I remember this place when they were on Poplar Ave. The food and tea, and the hospitality was wonderful then, and after reading the reviews I see now it its still the same. I will be back. Thank you ❤❤🥰🥰
Cool eclectic cafe if you are looking for somewhere other than starbucks. I had a good avocado toast with egg and bacon (they could have toasted the bread better). Food was ready in less than 10 minutes. This is a great atmosphere to work from your laptop unless you are distracted easily (customers voices do carry).
Solid avocado toast with lavender, cinnamon, honey latte, and a parfait. Perfect environment and decoration. It was a great place to spend my morning.
Amazing coffee with a very relaxing atmosphere. Always stopping here if Im driving through.
Daniels customer service was amazing! Made a custom latte for me, I was impressed! Thanks for the best coffee experience...
We were enticed to come to Tamp & Tap by another websites promise of a Saturday bluegrass brunch which, sadly, the coffeehouse had phased out. Van Halen on the speakers greeted us instead.Tamp & Tap is a full on coffee house with pour overs, drips, espresso drinks, cold brew on tap and a very nice tea menu – all loose leaf. And the staff was super friendly!I had an Egg, cheddar and English muffin made with Egg whites. Not the best breakfast I ended up having in Memphis for sure. The sandwich was a bit over-toasted…in particular the cheese was over-cooked to the point where you couldn’t really taste it. It was basic and fine. (And made to order in house.)My wife had the Veggie Frittata without the fontina cheese (she eats mostly vegan. It was impressive looking and served with healthy looking greens. It was served upside down with a thin layer of veggies on the top (err, or bottom.) She enjoyed the vegetable layer and found it to be a generous size (and a generous portion of greens on the side.)The pour over coffee was bold and perfect. Exactly what I want out of coffee…not acidic, as strong as I wanted it to be. Hurrah coffee! My wife really enjoyed the peach oolong tea. Kudos to places that serve loose leaf tea!The restaurant was not crowded when we arrived, and we found it to be a generally good and quick alternative to crowded or expensive brunches elsewhere. We also saw a display with good looking pastries, apples and bananas available. And though we didn’t take advantage of it, the “Tap” side of Tamp & Tap” looked to have a good selection of Local Beer (on tap) and bloody Mary’s too.For a drink or coffee, Tamp & Tap seems like a good place to go…even for a quick bite or snack. If you’re looking for a more upscale or unique brunch or meal, it might not be what you’re looking for.
Coffee was pretty good. Atmosphere was great. Customer service...eh a little lacking.
Cute place. My sandwich tasted amazing at first but the middle was quite cold and under cooked. Told the staff and he was very rude in response. Smoothie was good though, hate I was unable to enjoy my food.
If were ever back in Memphis we would go here again. The espresso shot was well worth the extra calories.
Delicious as always. Lots of non dairy substitutes. Wife was able to get her oat milk.
Really great atmosphere. coffee, tea, breakfast all reasonably priced. friendly and quick service
This is a nice/great coffee shop with a really cool vibe. They have a bunch of great coffee options, I got the Hi-Octane which is expresso with vanilla coke, it turned out to be really good!. And also, they have this classic videogames which you can enjoy while drinking your coffee. It is definitely a cool and fun place to visit.
We absolutely adore this wonderful downtown spot. So cozy, clean and tasty!
Atmosphere of place is ideal for working, coffee tasted good but a lil pricey. Coffee is served in neat cups and they have decent number of options for breakfast and lunch. However, breakfast and lunch options are served only till 3p. Diverse options of speciality coffee drinks are available. I tried ‘delta eagle’ and liked it. It was more like darker version of mocha with lil extra bitterness. If you are a dark chocolate lover, definitely go for this. ‘Silver service’ was like a chai latte with mild tones of lavender, it was very refreshing. I will definitely visit again!!
Fantastic food and great location near the downtown hotels
I’m mixed on my review of Tamp and Tap. My cortado was decent to pretty good, but they offer “espresso shooters” that are some crazy concoctions. I tried the “Danny Trejo”. If you don’t like the flavor of espresso but you love drinking lukewarm concentrated lemon juice then that is the drink for you. In the words of Chris Traeger, “That was LITERALLY the worst coffee drink I’ve ever had”.
I love this place for the great atmosphere. I used to go their to do my art homework. I personally don’t care much about their coffee and food (it is a personal taste)
Burrito 🌯 was awesome and staff friendly.
Coffee was above average good, but not great. Takes a while to get your coffee, kinda confusing on how to order and get prices and such. Little expensive, but not terrible. I’ve been back 4-5 times when I want to study, because they have a great area big enough to be alone and get work done.
Do not leave if its busy, it is worth it. Next time Ill be back with my coworkers. The bill was fair for the quality of food.
Delicious food and great service!
Sweet vibes. Great coffee.
Loved the coffee here! They serve it in a neat mug if you drink it there. The sausage breakfast sandwich was good but really needed some kind of side. The waffle with sugar crystals was incredible! I was also impressed that they have a printer for patrons to use. We were on vacation and it was great to be able to email, pay and print a document.
Theres smoke in the air inside. Oil burning? I have no idea. They have great coffee and a delicious array of menu items but I cant stay here long because my eyes water and the smoke smell clings to my clothes. For this reason I eat here infrequently. Food and service is good and consistent. Lastly, didnt like employee smoking infront of door. Its a little rude.
My favorite coffee shop in Memphis, hands down. Everyone is always so nice and my drinks/breakfast is always perfect. I was eating breakfast there with a coworker one day, and someone who was very obviously down on their luck came in. The sweet workers gave him a free coffee and treated him like any other customer! We were so impressed about the quality of service and love they showed that day! ❤️
Excellent coffee!
Tamp and Tap has the best BLT Ive ever had, and yes, I have also had the one from Lisas Lunchbox (also good but not as). Their brownies are great too. My husband had a turkey sandwich last week and loved it. They toast the bread just right. I have been multiple times to both the downtown and East Memphis locations. The downtown staff are a lot friendlier, and they have never gotten my order wrong whereas the East Memphis spot has more than once.
The only good breakfast in a 10 minute walk. And it’s *really* good. Not just good because it’s the only good breakfast in a 10 minute walk.
Solid place for breakfast! I’d highly recommend the veggie burrito and I’m not vegetarian. Its SUPER flavorful. Their specialty coffees are tasty too and come heated and iced. Give them a try!
The coolest coffee shop I have ever encountered. The environment is so unique and their coffee even more. I got one of their specialty coffees and I finished it in a matter of minutes. If it wasnt for my self control I would have ordered more.
It’s a cute spot, and as someone from Portland OR, the coffee is pretty good! The staff are friendly and helpful, I just wish it was more clear if we were supposed to bus our own tables, or leave them. We left them because we couldn’t find a bus tub, but I hate to do that if we missed one!
Great drinks. Great food. Great vibe. Service is slow but they try, I guess. The point is dont be in a hurry and you will enjoy the place and the food. You will grow to appreciate the service as it sorta goes with the vibe. So maybe the service is cool after all. 😁
I visited this place for breakfast. Wanted something easy, quick, and not too expensive downtown. Took a while for someone to notice I was waiting to have my order taken. Their system prompts you for a tip (even though I got a tiny sandwich to-go), so I tipped $1. The bacon and egg sandwich I ordered had literally 1 small slice of bacon crumpled inside, all for around $6. The tables and chairs had food particles stuck to them, so I hunted down a spot to wait. There werent any napkins. The wait wasnt long.
Good coffee.
A perfect place for a rainy day. Or any day for that matter. Friendly place. Comfortable seating. Very well made coffees and teas. A console game system is set up, and a second tv is available as well. Bring a board game and some friends, or play with one of their board games and make some new ones.
Great coffee shop! Such great coffee ideas here!! Never seen such creative drinks
The interior is very inviting, comfortable, and modern. The coffee is amazing. Try the Tennessean if youre looking for a little sweet caffiene boost. Its a little pricey but worth the quality of coffee. The breakfast menu was pretty good.
Walking into Tamp & Tap gives you a welcoming unlike any other coffee shop. Tamp & Tap serves Coffee, snacks and Beer all at the same location. They offer outside and indoor seating, a lounging area and coffee menu to please anyone, including vegans.
Awesome! Great spot. I took my wife there for a breakfast date. We had a great time! Very cool atmosphere, modern menu of healthy and savory breakfast items, in the heart of downtown: We are definitely going back again!
Nice place. Too bad C19 is killing business.
Have visited this shop a few times now and the coffee has been very good along with good service. I enjoy visiting local coffee shops and supporting independent cafes. Was doing some work and talking to my wife on the phone about 30 minutes before the shop closed today and happened to be the only guest left. The employee clearly wanted me to leave and started to vacuum around my table, just a few feet from me while I was on the phone. The shop has quite a bit of floor space, so it is not a small shop. Could not asked for a more rude and less subtle way to get out. First time leaving a negative review.
Great coffee, good food. Fun atmosphere. Only problem Ive had is part of an order was changed without asking once. Other than that Ive always had good service and no bad experiences.
Had the cortado and breakfast. Coffee was very good. We had just come from Aspen where Starbucks was the best coffee so you know how desperate we were!
Traveling through and decided to give a local place a shot for lunch-- LOVED this!!!This was the best BLT sandwich Ive ever had. Im from Portland (one of the foodie capitals of the world) and I was impressed, somewhat hard to do.My companions sandwich and coffee was good as well.Definitely short-listed for a repeat visit whenever I get back to Memphis.
Good atmosphere, great selection, tasty drinks. Kind of expensive, but you expect that from a coffee shop. The guy that took our order wasnt too friendly, but maybe he was having an off day. Over all, it was a good experience.
No concept on interior. Only stair access(out side sign is old) no greeting from employees and made my wife very uncomfortable with the bad attitudes when she asked something. I guess this kind of place can survive in Memphis but not in a big towns
Cute place, great coffee. Good food and fantastic presentation. Good service. Recommend! Mochas come with sugar so added so if you prefer less sweet then ask.
Tried the recommended Tennessee over ice and it was really great. Thought $5.50 was a bit expensive for an iced latte but it is at least 16oz so it was well worth it. The BLT was also amazing. They combined melted cheese with crumbled bacon to top the sandwich. Think it had balsamic glaze on top as well which was a great touch. Everything was very tasty and the decor was trimmed in nice thick wood planks. Very cool atmosphere. The barista kicked my drink out in no time as well. Ill be back.
Great coffee and snack food. Very nice inside. Great for using your laptop or catching up with a group of friends. Staff are friendly and helpful.
I love the atmosphere and the coffee of course!! The hummingbird with a shot of espresso is the way to go. Great staff!
Hummingbird is incredible
Everything fresh, clean, efficient, and the food is excellent! You order at the counter they give you a number they deliver the food and clean up afterwards. Delicious coffees, teas, and good selection of soft & power drinks. That means Ill be going back!👌👍😎
The place looks great and has a good atmosphere. The food is fine, but ridiculously overpriced. Despite the ultra cool downtown location I wont be returning.
The space is well laid out for having your own private space. The only drawback is other patrons on the phone working out their own business deals. Anyway, regarding the menu, as the name indicate, they offer a nice variety of coffee, teas, and beers. Since my next appointment was actually yoga, I opted for the green tea matcha. The barista was friendly and patient as I mulled over my decision
A fine coffee shop, but there are better ones within walking distance
Quirky one-of-a-kind espresso and drip coffee drinks. Suuuuppperrrr strange atmosphere and vibe though. Maybe I hit it at an off time but I wouldn’t spend much time here again, except to maybe pickup that fantastic Espresso infused Chai Tea drink!
Counter service. Good coffee. Lots of food options. Quiet. Great place to get work done.
Awesome guys behind the counter, large, chill space, and great, local products. They recommended I try the Cannonball Express, which combines chai and espresso, and they made it with soy milk for me. I definitely recommend you try it too!One negative: no sandwiches in the morning, so you cant grab something for lunch when you stop in for breakfast.
Great lunch sandwiches. And weve never figured out why other lunch cant do a decent BLT.
Quick and easy once you find parking. Coffee is good, egg sandwich is good, avocado toast is amazing.
While Ive never eatrn here, if the menu is as delightful as the southern hospitality then its a 5 star experience, hands down. I accidentally locked myself out of my running auto (😳) and the guys in Tamps &Taps didnt hesitate to extend the use of their phone and laptop computer to help me find a locksmith. They even offered recommendations and ultimately assisted with navigating the driver to where I was stranded. No purse, no phone, no keys for 30 minutes in 2019 is annoying and nerve-wracking! Thanks, Ill be back to try some menu items soon, looking forward to it.
This was a really great place for me to sit and get work done. I was here visiting for a work trip and there are plenty of seats to set a laptop up. The Pan American was a great latte and I was not too sweet.
Fantastic cappuccino and great coffee shop environment.
I cant speak to the coffee, but the breakfast sandwiches and bagels were yummy. A star is lost because my order didnt fully get to my table. I had to go and remind them that I had also ordered a bagel. They were quick to correct it, but they werent very busy, so it seems reasonable to expect my order to be complete. The price was fine, not really notable. The decor and atmosphere were great (as a woodworker, I couldnt help but love all of the live-edge slab tables and wall decorations). It was a nice quiet and friendly place.
The best place to grab great coffee and delicious fresh food! Cant forget their beer too! I love the live bands on Sundays :) as of 10.01.16 they have changed their hours of service: they are now closing at 7pm instead of 9pm. Service is always exceptional, like family. Food is made wh love and you can tell. Coffees for everyone, from straight black to sugary heaven!
Wonderful coffee! Great atmosphere. We ordered pour over coffee and were a bit disappointed that it came in to go cups rather than the glass pour over container and mug like other coffee houses do.
Great food and coffee options. The interior looks great as well and I always enjoy a place that serves beer and coffee. I had there cold brew coffee on nitro which was very tasty. They also have patio seating for pet owners
Best cup of coffee Ive had in Memphis. The Gayoso location is also conveniently located downtown. The shop itself is very cozy. Cant wait to try the weekend brunch!
