As my second go-to place for caffeine boosting in Cooper Young, Otherlands provides some very wonderful coffee drinks from lattes to Americanos in a very hip and colorful setting. While I do think that the driveway need to be expanded and the hours could be longer, especially on nights when “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is playing at the Evergreen Theater, overall, if you’re looking to get some work done and enjoy a nice, light meal over some coffee or tea, then I’d recommend coming here.P.S. Props on having some incense, international items, and original artwork sold on top of the coffee, drinks, and lunch food items.
Otherlands is a hidden gem of Memphis tucked away in the heart of Midtown. Great coffee, pastries, etc. Also cool gift items. Its a great place to read, work, or hang out.
A very friendly café with a wide open space in the back, away from traffic, as well as large rooms. The variety of local cakes and other goods is great. Give the oat burger a try!
Nice location, very hippie. Foods are more like snacks bite size and nothing you wouldnt find at a Krogers for half the price.Coffee is good, but not great.
If I told you all the stories about this place I would run out of room.. it softens my heart that I came back from Colorado and this place is still here.. it’s not a secret tell everyone about otherlands... food is perfect if your visiting Memphis this place is a must on your to do list if you want an authentic mid town Memphis meal... this place is the front porch Memphis vibe original crunchy granola save Tibet experience...
Trendy hipster decor and the place is definitely a cozy dive to hang and work. Unfortunately the mocha is very average, a bit too sweet for my taste. The fresh squeezed OJ was mostly pulp and little juice. The grilled sandwiches tasted fine, but a turkey melt without the cheese being melted, underwhelming. All said, I need them to try a little harder.
Thank for the guidance to order the wonderful London Fog, and the out door seating was just what I needed!
Ill start off by saying this place is pretty spacious. And I might add the only breakfast spot around for about 5 blocks away. I was shocked to know that some of their breakfast items are ordered and delivered to them per request. But once it arrived it was delicious.
My “mocha” tasted like chocolate syrup without a drop of coffee in it, despite the fact that it was supposed to have two shots of espresso. Far too sweet to drink. The hot chocolate I ordered for my kids was too hot. I wouldn’t give this business my money again.
Great place to do work at... lots of seating options. Delicious coffee and great food!! All around fun
Prices are absolutely amazing here for what you get, in my opinion this is the biggest draw. Food and drinks are decent, and the environment is pretty good. Nice outdoor seating too!
My wife and I took an out-of-town guest there for lunch today. He was not disappointed. Our sandwiches were delicious and the coffee was superb.
Super super cute coffee shop. There are four corners in this coffee shop that gives out different vibes. The employees are pretty nice here and interacted with me when I was caught reading manga, which was really interesting. The drinks I had here wer good; I had Herbal Tea and Ginger Lemonade Zinger (third pic and pretty strong in flavor).A decent place to chill and work overall!
This place is a true gem. Keep up the good work guys!
One of the best coffee shops I have been to. A ton of space inside and for outside seating. Great coffee and delicious food. Very good vibes!
If all your looking for is coffee then this place is pretty ok. If you are expecting to eat something find another place! They have eggo waffles for $4 and their burritos uhh nah. It was pretty dirty which is surprising with IDK covid still out there.
Good coffee and good people. Definitely gets a star for atmosphere and nice staff. The food and coffee are pretty decent, but this places big appeal is definitely its hangout qualities. Ive gotten a wrong order sandwich with slightly burnt crust before, but more often than not their sandwiches are tasty (this one still was.) They have a good selection of pastries and snack food as well. Its a pretty good place to unwind on a weeknight.
Best coffee shop in town. Its kind of a hidden gem given that most people dont know how good their breakfast and sandwich menu is. The turkey melt is my favorite item on the menu. The pimento cheese sandwich is another option that must be tried. If you are not feeling coffee grab one of their smoothies. Also try coming for lunch and check out the cool gift shop. If you spend over $20 bucks in the gift shop you can get a free coffee drink from the menu. Excellent service and well worth visiting!
Good coffee and bread. Furnished with second hand furniture.
Really cute and spacious place with small shops inside. The coffee is great and there are some small vegan food options like a rice and beans burrito.
Great food and atmosphere even on the patio.
I love Otherlands!! They make the perfect chai latte and all the food is delicious. 🙌🏾🙌🏾☺️ I’ve mostly been ordering online but I am a big fan of the vibe, people, and decor inside. There’s a reason Otherlands has been around for so long! 💗
Good coffee and friendly staff.
Great coffee shop to get work done and meet up with friends. I also love what they have do to accommodate with covid. If you arent able to find seating inside, theres plenty outside.
Great coffee and great atmosphere!!
Cool place to meet and catch up with coworkers. the staff was very friendly and attentive. it has a good feel to it. feels similar to a cafe in chicago i loved.
Old home week. Great to visit.
Great place to meet and catch up with friends. The place has an awesome feel to it. They have so many good reviews for a reason.
Love Otherlands! Great coffee, cool gift shop, sit inside or hang out on the back patio, and chill out a while in a relaxed, eclectic atmosphere.
They’re being aired out on Twitter for poor management. Someone was recently exposed to covid and they were told they would not close down even if so. There’s mold and pennies in the ice machine. If i can post the evidence I will. The yogurt, cheese, and simply lemonade she posted was expired. And the ex employee threw a way a lot of the produce because of that. But management didn’t care and just wanted it sold. This is despite harm it could cause to any of us. Also, the employee was black and wasn’t respected while working there. Not saying that it didn’t happen to others, but it’s not helping their case.
Really nice coffee hangout. Tasty food and drinks. Its a bit pricier but otherwise its a great place. Staff are pretty chill too.
Favorite place in the whole Memphis
Great place to work, visit, eat breakfast/smoothie, get a cup of coffee!
This place is so big. They have breakfast as well as lunch food. I had the tuna melt and Ive never had another tuna sandwich that had as much flavor as theres did. It also tasted really good with the chips it came with. The atmosphere was very calming so its a great study place or just hanging out with friends.
This is my FAVORITE place to study in town... the peaceful vibes and chill people make me feel less anxious when life is getting crazy. Good music to concentrate on homework and comfy seating no matter how ur feelin! One request: PLEASE GO BACK TO NORMAL HOURS😭 I get off at 5 and that’s always been my place to study but since y’all close at 3 now I haven’t been in a couple months... help a sista out!
Great locally owned coffee shop. They have great food and drinks. The atmosphere and staff are very friendly. Have gone many times and never had a bad experience. The prices are very fair and its in a great part of town.
Cute location, but food was burnt and dry, my mocha freeze tasted like chalk, and the staff was rude.
Great coffee and comfy vibes
I just cannot get enough of this place! Great food, great service, and excellent coffee. This is one of those type of places that you can go in have a cup of coffee sit in a nice comfy chair and relax and read a book.
In a world where Starbucks is taking over, I am endlessly grateful for a small, locally owned shop that doesnt sell three versions of the word large. Everyones always really nice, the food is pretty great, and the plants are beautiful and plentiful. Love spending the day working remotely from here with a latte and an everything bagel.
Super comfortable atmosphere. I came to get some work done and relax. No issues finding a table at all. The noise level wasnt too high. The coffee tasted very good and was reasonably priced. I had the sauteed veggie melt, which was delicious! The menu had a lot of choices that looked good and also looked filling. The staff were also super friendly and polite to me. Ill definitely be returning.
Food was so appetizing. the staff was sociable and attentive.
This place is amazing! We stumbled across by accident! The staff is extremely awesome too! The atmosphere is so cool and it just feels so comfortable and chill to hang out at.
I always visit this wonderful coffee house/cafe when I am in Memphis. Its like a flashback to my 1970s art college days! Their coffee is excellent but are their sandwiches and breakfast items.
Definitely a cool place... not enough seating area but they sure do have lots of stuff for sale...don’t go in wearing something you don’t want to smell like a kitchen. They have delicious coffee. Good sandwiches and paninis.
Just love this place- Midtown is a great area and Otherlands is a friendly, comfortable environment. Nice folks and really good coffee. My breakfast favorite- smoked salmon with capers, bagel, and cream cheese.😊
I love this coffee shop, good food and drink and an awesome atmosphere. My mocha was delicious. My sister was grossed out by an employee putting a dead fish from the tank into a plant to decompose, but that’s the circle of life. I applaud the action. There’s seating outside with beautiful trees to look at, and plenty inside too. We were going to buy some postcards here and the shop lady gave them to us for free. We all had a great time.
Great staff and the London fog tea ROCKS!
The food was so good and service was excellent. Sydney was especially friendly. 🙌
Random art, fish tanks, and food. Whats not to love? My husband and i went there for a micro date. There were 3 different seating sections for socializing, working or seating down to eat. The only challenge I had was that the gift shop which had really nice things had a super strong incense smell which triggers headaches for me. I enjoyed that there were many skill levels to the art displayed and it seems to be a very strong community center. The bulletin boards had pets, social groups, exercise classes and so forth. Street parking was easy and there were several interesting shops nearby. We will go there again next time we are in Memphis.
Cute place. Pet friendly. Employees are nice enough. Nothing above or beyond about their customer service. Nothing stand out about the coffee either. Has chill atmosphere.
This is a cool place. There were several nooks to sit and study, the main area by the coffee bar seeming to be the one to chat in. Its an eclectic mix of tables, chairs, and couches. There was a little gift shop in the middle but it was closed when I was there on Sunday. I had a jumbo mocha hazelnut coconut milk late which was good. Prices seem to be the standard coffee house prices. I heard they do have live music which would be nice to go and chill to. There were a couple of people who came in to play board games which is awesome! Definitely plan to go back.
Excellent coffee bar. Has a real Midtown vibe to it. Coffee wasn’t even that expensive.
Lovely atmosphere, kind and friendly staff, and they substituted ingredients for me so I could have a vegan breakfast, no problem. Tasty and would recommend!
The atmosphere here is amazing; there is a ton of seating, in several different areas, and the design aesthetic is highly eclectic. Overall, it creates a vibe that really lives up to the name Otherlands, because you kind of feel transported spending time here.In terms of the actual business of the business, the drinks have always been enjoyable and reasonably priced; service is fast and friendly in my experience.Definitely a great place to sit and have a conversation over drinks.
Quaint neighborhood place for an intimate cup of coffee or bite to eat. There were lots of nooks to hide away for quite conversations or more open spaces for groups. It is in a great location in the heart of midtown. The only negative for me was that it was hot outside and it was not much relief inside.
Best place to hang out in town and get work done. Spacious, laid back, very friendly, decent internet, decent food. Other than drinking tea all day, my favorite things to get are the stuffed grits, tuna fish sandwich, or lentil soup. I also appreciate that they play music I love. Its like somehow they got copies of all the mix tapes I made in high school. :)
Stopped in for my first visit for breakfast. Had a breakfast burrito and an Americano. Both were very good. The place has lots of character. It was relaxing to enjoy my meal on the back porch.
A community driven coffeehouse like they used to before it all became a scene. funky with plenty of retro seating and outdoor space. parking is limited
Chill vibe, eccentric art, and crazy gift shop!! what a cool place
The staff is friendly, the food is great, but most importantly: the coffee is amazing! Very full flavor, roasted locally, not too fruity but with hints of fruity. Really the perfect cup of coffee. If youre in Memphis and want a surprisingly inexpensive coffee and bite to eat, this is the place to go.
The atmosphere is very different than a usual coffee shop. The art is amazing the drinks are delicious and the only downside to the location is the amount of parking. Everyone is friendly from the patrons to the guest. Thanks for such a great creative welcoming experience.
Laid back and eclectic. Latte was excellent! Indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of nooks and crannies to settle in... Really though the room with all the plants was cosy!
Wonderful, quirky place to study! Coffee is good, atmosphere is really comfortable, and the staff have always been very friendly! Sometimes you may need to sit in a few chairs to find which one suits you most, but I love the options eclectic feel of the place. Also very nice outdoor area!
Good coffee. Great cream cheese mixtures, my favorite is cheddar olive. Great bagels. Outdoor seating thats dog friendly. Outdoor non-smoking area. Indoors very kid friendly. Service can be a little pretentious, dont take it personally. Kind of cramped ingress/egress. Is wheelchair accessible. Usually clean restroom. Wide selection of teas, cookies, brownies etc. Very much a hippie type place.
Amazing selection of espresso and relaxing atmosphere. Glad there was a coffee shop open early on a Sunday morning. Back ground music adds a nice ambience. Friendly staff and locals with lots of knowledge of things to enjoy in this historical town.
I really like artsy shops like this. Theres always something new in the corner of your eye to gawk at. Great pieces of art. Phenomenal coffee. Relatively quiet to do work. (Im blasting my tracks in my headphones anyway.) But if youre looking for a good place to work, I recommend this shop, and Im particularly fond of it.
Cool place. Stopped here for breakfast on our way out of Memphis. Great way to wrap up the weekend.
Best coffee in town. Great atmosphere and terrific choices for light eal or quick snack. Very relaxing. A must visit for all those who havent 😊👍👍
I had a weird blind date here. The place was great, super friendly and service was fast even though they were packed. I had a heavenly mocha,
A unique experience that I always look forward to.
I love this place! Its so eclectic and the vibe is so unique. Its hard to describe such a vibrant and bustling coffee shop. They offer food, beer, coffee, and more. They also have a gift shop that sells knickknacks as kooki as the whole place. The regular drop coffee is delicious, full bodied. Their lattes are also very good; as in the espresso doesnt taste sour or cheap.
Great shop. I just had the drip but it was really good. Love the eclectic style and the different rooms.
This place is super cool. Super friendly and helpful staff, and the atmosphere is really cool and eclectic (they even have fish tanks). Dont go here if youre just looking for a good cup of coffee. This isnt your 3rd wave coffee spot. They dont roast their own beans, and their house or coffee of the day is a dark blend (same one every day). Its from a local roaster, so its still good, just not any better than even like a Panera coffee or something. If I was local, I could see myself hanging out here often. Totally cool place with cool people.
Great coffee and good but no-frills eats. This place features a beautifully relaxed, comforting, and yet spacious environment. Theres an artsy vibe, as advertised.
Otherlands is a cool place. It has outdoor and indoor seating, a unique vibe, and a gift shop with neat little hippie trinkets, oils and incense. I love that you can find your own little nook to study with a different vibe depending on where you sit. Great food, great drinks, great service, WiFi, dog friendly outside. The only thing I have trouble with is that sometimes this place attracts the homeless. I’m totally understanding of this but it can occasionally make it difficult to study. Nevertheless, I have studied here often with no problem. Go see for yourself!
One of my favorite spots to go to. Great homemade healthy food and snacks. Peaceful environmental area. Great social people. Good art there.
Great tasting coffee and a relaxed atmosphere. Be sure to visit the gift shop!
Fun atmosphere
The staff is snooty, the drip coffee is ok at best, but specialty drinks are very very good.
Funky bohemian atmosphere with extensive drinks and array of snacks. I enjoyed that they had power strips for charging electronics all over the place. Ample windows for natural light. Three thumbs up
