Wonderful independent bookstore, good selection of books for all ages, a cafe serving lunch and dinner, full bar as well. Very friendly service staff. Its a great place to find a gift for the reader in your family or friends.

I love this store! Havent been to the bar or cafe inside but the store itself is great. Obviously comparable to a Barnes and Noble (prices may be a little higher) but I love that they have lots of notes all around on the shelves from different employees that give more insight into their own favorite books. Plenty of other novelties, silly games, gifts, and puzzles. They gave several lounge chairs throughout, which is huge plus to me because I love to sit and read the first chapter to make sure its a book I can get into.

I adore this neighborhood bookstore. I called in my pre-order a couple months ago. They called me as soon as it arrived. Great place to buy books but also grab interesting gifts or enjoy food in the cafe.

I’m having a really hard time with this one, since I really love having this local bookstore as an option to buy new books. This is especially since the pandemic, I often would rather just have the books sent to me and I pay the extra cost for shipping. Not so much the past few times, as this store sent them out via USPS when I payed to have them sent UPS. There is a big difference in how they are handled, since the items both times I received were banged up pretty bad. They should consider using a box instead of those “bubble mailer” type envelopes. Some people actually keep books after they are read as a collector. I know, because I own hundreds of them. Hopefully when or if I order from them again, the third time will be the charm!

Great book store, but Amazon has the same books priced 50% less, so its hard to justify buying them here. The Cafe in the book store is great, and I highly recommend the BLT! Great fries too.

Loved the fact that it is a Bookstore that has restaurant inside! they have a patio which I like to have as an option for seating. The food was really good and so was the service! ill be back soon!

Great store with a full selection of books that appeal to us. If they dont have something, they are very willing to order it for you. We have a family tradition of heading down to Novel every May to grab all of our reading for the summer and are always happy to find a bunch of books we love.

Pretty much the biggest independent bookstore around. I preordered a book and they sent me an email on the release day that it was in store and ready for pick up.My kids love looking around at all the novelty items and toys they have, though many items seem overpriced. It’s good to support local businesses though.

After a (pandemic) year at home, a return to Novel to find an obscure buyers guide was really a pleasant surprise. Not only did they have what I was looking for, the place weve enjoyed for so many years felt unchanged by all weve been through. Highly recommended!

I have always loved shopping here for books, opting to spend my hard earned money with local businesses instead of shelling out money to amazon who certainly doesn’t need my help! I have to ESPECIALLY shout out the Novel Memphis team during this time of Covid 19 though! I know how hard it is to adapt a small local business in such a sudden and short time, but they have adopted the delivery and online ordering system so well! I absolutely LOVE how great they are at communicating via email about the status of my orders. I can’t wait til things are more “normal” and I can peruse the shelves with more ease and less worry, but for now I am SO grateful during this time of quarantine to have Novel delivering books to my door. Thank you guys for all your hard work and compassion and for being such a great local bookstore! Memphis is lucky to have you.

I absolutely love Novel. It is a great place to find any book you want and chill a bit at the restaurant or bar area with some coffee or tea. On the rare occasion that I couldnt find a book I came for, someone was easily available to help me find where I may locate it. The people are very helpful, and I love how they help support Memphis charities like, My Cup Of Tea, by selling products at their store. It is a great place to shop, even if you are not an avid book reader.

Had a very Pleasant Lunch at Novel, today. I shared Small Plates with friends, we tried Several Different dishes, they were all Excellent. Wanted to try the Lemon Poppy Seed Cake but the kitchen was bare, I heard it was the Best! Maybe next time.

Disappointing. Not alot in Star Trek books a no Doctor Who books that I could find.

This is one of the best book stores that ive been to. There is good service and they help you find books fast and easy.

The store is always clean and quiet, the way libraries used to be. 98% of the time they have just what I am looking for. Its local folks, support it. While you can, which is, hopefully, a long, long time. A couple of staff members are a little standoffish bordering on rude, but what can you do? Millennials, you know. Go buy a book there. A magazine. A journal. Whatever. Support your local store, your local economy. Dont get caught whining online about how you wish there was a local bookstore in town should they disappear. Like the cd stores did. Support this local bookstore. Its worth the drive. Its worth your time. Its worth helping the local economy during these covid times.

Went to Novel for book signing of NY Times best selling author. Great selection of books along with many one of a kind gift items. Also houses a small restaurant serving delicious meals. Can order wine and beer here too. Staff is courteous and attentive. Store offers same day delivery in Memphis for a small fee

Cute little bookstore

Amazing bookstore! 5 stars all around. The staff was the highlight of the my visit. Such a courteous, fun and thoughtful group of people. The store is really nicely set up and you can never see everything they have to offer in one visit. They also have a really nice restaurant with good food and great drinks & wine which was my favorite!!

This is a great book store in general but the key selling point for me was finding hard to find books on their website ordering process at lower prices than Amazon. Its very rare to find most products at a lower price than Amazon and I appreciated the speed and quality of books I received when i went to the store to purchase them.The staff is welcoming and it looks like that have a strong communal following with the events and readings they have scheduled.Very cool store. Would Highly recommend.Why 4 stars?: Physical location mostly sold full retail book. I know thats the type of store they are but it would be cool if there was a larger section of used books, not just clearance books.

One of my favorite places to go in Memphis. Novel doesn’t just sell to readers, it inspires them. I often come out of there with ideas for new books to read in the future. And it has a wonderful selection of children’s and YA books. Doesn’t hurt that the Libro restaurant is right there and has a very nice atmosphere for just talking or reading.

Its nice to have a bookstore in this area again. I believe its locally owned as well. Theres even a restaurant and wine bar attached to it. Theres a couple displays of staff picked reading materials, which is great if youre just browsing randomly for a good read. A few more seating areas would make it a cozier spot to read your new purchases. It doesnt have the wide selection you would see at a Barnes & Noble, but this is still my first stop for new books because of the atmosphere and convenience.

Novel is a pretty nice bookstore. A little smaller but more intimate bookstore. I went to purchase my wife the new Michelle Obama book. The original price tag was a little pricey compared to other stores but they marked it down without me asking for anything. They gift wrapped the book and also, made me promise that I would return. I definitely will, no problem.

I love this place. They have a phenomenal selection of books in all genres as well as fun knickknacks and stuff for book-lovers. They also frequently host events and author meet-and-greets, though I havent been to any.If youve ever watched some rom com where the main character spots a quirky, beautiful girl eyeing the mystery novels and thought to yourself, wow, I wish I had a cozy, dreamy little bookstore I could go to like that, then look no further, because novel. has that exact vibe (though no promises youll find love in the aisles).

While the selection is great. The atmosphere is not. It feels like the staff is rushing you with the constant staring and being asked if you need help often. While I recognize it is part of the job to ask, the place is not big enough or overflowing with staff for them to ask so many times. Its not a bookstore to browse as I felt watched the entire time. Ill stick with Barnes n Noble for now

I visited novel. for the first time for a Literacy Memphis event. The place is awesome. I loved the variety of books and trinkets. The bar service was great. The prices are as to be expected in a bookstore with as much variety as they have and the childrens section cant be beat.

I was there to attend a birthday party in the events room. The staff was very courteous and professional. Even spent some time walking around the bookstore. Was very pleased with my visit.

Members of the community came together and established a locally-owned independent bookstore because they saw the importance of having that kind of bookstore in the community. Thats what I love about this store.

Wide selection of reading material and other interesting items such as unique socks, calendars, gift items etc. They also have an eating area with several tables and an event area for meetings such as a meet the author program. Despite a long line the check out was speedy.

Need more recovery books for thise who need it..

I had not been in Novel since it has opened its doors. I was impressed. They had quite the selection in the romance and teen fiction area. They have a person stationed in the middle to help you locate what you were looking for. The cashier was very courteous and went as far as look up when a book is coming out after completing my purchase. I have not visited the Bistro, but the bar tender seemed to be very attentive to the patrons at the bar and the selection of what I assumed were wines looked to be quite big. I will be shopping here again.

I could spend hours and far too much money there easily. As it is I got three greeting cards of excellent quality and magazine and didnt get sticker shock.

Great non-chain bookstore that reopened by passionate locals. Wonderful interior with plenty of space for events. They even have story time events for children. I recommend to everyone to check out novel. Support your local bookstore!
