First time here and very impressed: SO much variety, unique flavors, great staff who are willing to make suggestions and tell you their favorites, and very clean with obvious attention to sanitation and appropriate COVID protocols.P.S. They have about a million (give or take a few) popsicle flavors, and theyre all amazing.

I would venture to say this is the best ice cream in Madison! I love local, homemade ice cream shops and this is the only one we have in Madison that I am aware of. They offer a wide variety of flavors both by the scoop or as a paleta (popsicle/ice cream bar). If you are not in the mood for ice cream, they have other options too including chopped fresh fruit. The staff is friendly and the owners make a good effort to give back to the community. All around this is a local business I really enjoy supporting!

I spent over 40 dollars at this place in a week. Its that good. They have unique flavors like tequila and eggnog and soursop and tamarind but also normal ones like strawberries and creme, mango, Oreo etc. They use real fruit and you can taste the fruit bits in it too. Also best horchata Ive ever had in my life and I live next to Mexico. Get the goat milk toffee ice cream thank me later

Always really great and has a line out the door at times. There are a few staple flavors but great for adventurous eaters if you didnt grow up with some of these flavors. Strawberry and cheese is a favorite of mine.

Holy frozen cow milk! Went here at random because was the closest ice cream shop to the gym. But honestly, already has taken the top spot on my list of Madison ice cream establishments. GGs to all the other West side creameries.I got a double scoop because the flavors were so interesting and I wanted multiple. Coconut and pistachio, if you were wondering. Both had chunks of the actual nut in them - a sure sign on quality (jk Im not a connoisseur but I found it extremely tasty). Anyway, this thing was Huuuuuge! Original plan of eating it on the way home thrown out the window. So bring something to clean your hands afterwards (or ask for napkins) at least if you get a double scoop in a cone. Or bring a friend to drive you home but get a dish.They actually did give me a dish too in case of falling - My arms mustve looked shaky after lift, but still a very considerate gesture.Also I didnt eat dinner before going so totally ruined that but worth. Very much worth.

I just wanna start off by saying I would give this a 0 star rating if I could. Me and my cousin came into the restaurant with good hopes of receiving good quality service but instead we were ignored multiple people were helped before us even though we were the first and only in there at the time. I was completely baffled I felt invisible as if I was a ghost. The silent discrimination was loud. The guy that finally helped us after 20 minutes he seemed very agitated he chucked my bowl of elote at me and when I went to finally open it was only 3 spoons of corn.!! I was very calm about it but I saw live bugs in the corner I don’t know what that’s all about. I also didn’t appreciate the fact that my 6 stale chips were drowned in cheese and basically mush by the time I could eat them. they’re very stingy with their portions!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

La Michocana makes incredible desserts and has an enormous variety to fulfill the taste of anyone who stops by. i recommend

The mango chilli ice cream was too good! Brought back homely memories from India. Ferrero Rocher ice cream goes well with the mango chilli ice cream. They also have pineapple chilli and cucumber chilli. Gonna try that out next time I go there!

Good ice cream and great service. However, lack of hygienic measures like the use of gloves. They handle the cash with the same hands as they serve you the ice cream, without washing them.

Filthy, no gloves, hands in the ice cream, couldnt handle putting 3 flavors in a single cone, cone literally crumpled in half due to the half gallon of ice cream, I had to walk it straight to the garbage can and toss, eggnog flavor stained 3 of my fingers orange, not impressed, will not return

This place always delivers the best ice cream in my opinion. Their drinks are great, their horchata is thick and creamy but its hard to pick from theirs and La Bambas. The strawberry drink is lacking though but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I always get Eskimals here, though because of their COVID-19 and my quiet voice, I ended up getting a Strawberry and Cream drink of sorts by mistake. I didnt wanna see it go to waste so I had bought it and lemme tell ya, I didnt regret it. It was amazing! A happy accident thats opened my taste buds to something new I wouldnt have thought of trying in the first place!The only problem is sometimes people dont listen to their policy and do what they want which puts me at risk because my girlfriend is immunocompromised. I wanna come more but they just gotta be harder on their policy. Everyone has to do their part

I come here for ice cream often. The selection of ice cream is amazing, and they are generous with the amount they serve. The texture is thick and creamy, and it matches their full flavors well.

My kids and I live this place. Lots of different things to try. As far as I know its all made in-house, and everything is good and fresh. The prices are very reasonable, the staff are all very friendly. Mostly its a Spanish speaking place, but weve never had a problem with understanding them or being understood. Best ice cream in town that Ive found.

They have ice cream, sorbets, fresh fruit, and popsicles made with real fruit. Everything is delicious. Deff favorite ice cream / cold treat place in Madison. Were so lucky La Michoacana is here.Also wanted to update and say we had great service.

The ladies who work here are THE BEST. They work hard, super nice and attentive, and make really delicious stuff. They were swamped today but took it in stride and still have great service! I love the mangonada and all of the popsicles, the fruit cocktails are delicious, theres really nothing you could order and go wrong.

Ice cream for the most part is good but service is awful. Of all the times I have come, every other time they’ve charged me extra for something I didn’t even get. Last time coming here unfortunately.

Both the crowd and the staff need to pay attention.Patience, if you cant take the order, than clean the seating area. If you need to get your children together, slide over out the way of others whom are ready.It is a nice sweet shop. Super Sweet

Best ice cream in town!! I tell people about it all the time. The owner is super nice and a very genuine person too. Staff is friendly as well. I give this place an A+. And I dont give those often. Prices are unbelievably reasonable too. She needs to raise the prices a bit. A loyalty card would be great too. Buy 10 get 1 free.

Unique flavors

Best ice cream in town! The ice cream is made in the shop and they have fantastic flavors you wont find anywhere else. Personal favorites are the strawberry and cheese (with a frozen cottage cheese texture mixed in with the ice cream) and the pine nut. The pistachio tastes like actual pistachios. And the tequila ice cream...well, its good!

Growing up in California we had many places like this and moving to Madison I was extremely excited to see this place and enjoy coming here regularly.I think the few people that have given bad reviews dont understand that the point of this ice cream shop isnt for it to be modern and large, but rather a place to pick up delicious treats, authentically made. The treats this place has to offer speaks for itself. Most negative reviews target the style of the place and the staff, which we need to remember there can be language barriers there so dont be quick to write something negative. And if you read the abundant positive reviews, you see the ice cream is delicious and all other snacks, which speaks for itself.Also, give some things a chance, like the mangoneada, the fresas con crema, chongos ice cream, queso ice cream, so many things are good here you just have to try them!

It was a great experience ...clean and staff are very nice. Good service great snacks and ice creams. Attendant had a smile all the time. I came in from wisc Rapids.March 31st 2021 about two weeks a go I left my 👜 and the manager of the other location checked for me and they found my 👜 and they were very honest and called me .To come pick it up. My first experience at a Mexican ice cream shop and I have to say I was blown away! There were quite a variety of unconventional flavors that you typically dont see in Madison. The shop is very family friendly and is a great place to hang out.

Ive been here twice now and despite the fact that the place was busy both times I went it didnt take long to get our food. One thing I noticed almost immediately was that the woman behind the counter was all smiles both times I went there. For me little things like that do matter so I gotta say it was a nice experience and likewise the drinks that we ordered were delicious.

Very good ice cream. Use real fruits instead of flavorings. They have some exotics sorbet as well. If you want to try something new yet delicious I would highly recommend coming here.

I was expecting the ice cream to be more firm and frozen. But creamy ice cream is easier to eat, I think. By the way, I got the mint chocolate chip with a waffle cone and a glass bottle of Sprite. They have glass bottles of Coca-Cola there too and soda is always better out of the bottle!

Good small place to sit down and have an ice cream nothing really fancy but it has small tables which you seat yourself at when you finish ordering. Has a a cool diversity of flavors but not a whole bunch like others ive been to, it has a small all gender bathroom so if you really gotta go then your gonna have to wait for the person in there to finish

I agree with Margaret. I went there on a Saturday night. There was only one customer ahead of me and my aunt. After standing in line for maybe 30 second to 1 minute more people began coming in. The other worker comes out from the back and immediately started helping other people who came after us. While she was getting a Popsicle for the other customer she was helping I asked her if they had the coconut flavor Popsicle made from real coconut. At first she ignored me so I thought maybe she didnt hear me so I repeated myself. She looked up starred at me and said one moment. I continued to wait as more people came in and they began helping others. I realized I wasnt going to get help to make a purchase so I left. Never will I return there. There is a location in Monona called La Rosita. Thats my go to place now for ice cream.

Fantastic desserts! This is by far my favorite place in town to get horchata, or more specifically, their pecan beverage. Absolutely phenomenal. Their ice cream is on point too. If youve got a sweet tooth, definitely consider them.!

The best ice cream in town. So worth it to step outside of your cultural comfort zone and explore Mexican ice cream. You could come back here 100 days in a row and never get the same thing and it would all be delicious. The coconut popsicles are luscious. It would be helpful if they had an English sign explaining how the sundaes work because they are new and different and interesting to most non-Mexicans.

If you have not gone, you have to go and try all the things they have. Drink aguas frescas of many flavors, particularly tropical fruits, try all the flavors of Mexican ice cream and popsicles. Enjoy mangonadas and learn why powdered chili pepper on fruit is a great idea. Eat duritos with hot sauce and almost feel you are in México eating snacks. You will not regret giving a try to all the wide assortment of treats they have.

Place was very clean, I only mention this due to other complaints regarding this. If this was a problem earlier, they seem to have taken the complaints to heart.You cant find a better selection of ice cream in the area, and as others have mentioned you can get some pretty unusual flavors like Tequila, tamarind, and egg nog with raisins.
