So, my wife ordered a pie to picked up at 12pm on a Saturday. I showed up to pick it up and the door was locked and the lights were off. The sign said open and the Google search said they were open. I called and no answer. Will attempt to call later and try to get a refund for the pie. I can understand if the person working was at lunch but generally people put a sign up or something. Weird to say you are open and not be open.

Ube-r cute and petite dessert shop over in Silverlake. Its small and focused on ube as well as other fun flavors such as pandan and Thai tea flavored desserts. Think small pies, bread pudding, and flan but with those kind of flavors! They also have drinks specialties and I got to try the Ube Horchata. Its a fun take on horchata and works. Super creamy in a lovely shade of purple and I just wanted more of the ube! I would be happier with more ube thickening it up!I also got the Pandan Upside Down Pie and Ube Bread Pudding! Also a fun twist on these desserts that was not overly sweet. The Pandan Upside Down Pie was creamy and light with a subtle pandan flavor. The Ube Bread Pudding is best when warmed up in the microwave a bit. Its thick and eggy with a touch of ube in the center. Out of the two, I like the Pandan Upside Down Pie better.Overall, the desserts have that homemade touch that makes it feel special. Worth a try if you want some unique yet familiar desserts!

My friend and I popped into this store late June — and right before they were supposed to close for the day! They were so nice to make us some tasty drinks 💜We also picked up a ube upside down pie to-go and I’m still dreaming about it weeks later. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!

I made my friend drive out of the way to visit FrankieLucy Bakeshop during our day in Los Angeles. This little cafe has creative Filipino inspired treats that Ive been meaning to try for a long time.I took my order to-go but from what I remember, the interior was very small with barely any room to sit. While taking it to-go might be easier, it is fun to flip the flans over onto a plate to reveal the hidden caramel sauce at the bottom of the ramekin :)The lovely vibrant colors are courtesy of the ube and pandan flavoring. The ube horchata was so rich and delicious, plus the oatmilk makes the drink vegan! As for the creme caramels...oh boy, its so silky-smooth, dense, and wonderful, the flan really just melts in your mouth. Its so rich that I couldnt finish these desserts in one sitting, and I incrementally had bites over the course of the day.To top it all off, the gentleman at the counter was so helpful and gracious. The COVID-19 crisis put them at an ingredient shortage so a few drinks were out-of-stock. He ended up giving my friend a complimentary vanilla latte, and also put up with my neurotic photo taking haha! Hats off to this small business, you have my full support, and I hope everything is well during this uncertain time.

Mood - UBEThis place has been on my radar ever since I saw the pictures, and of course that name. UBE. Now anyone who knows me I love UBE. It is my apart of my food love language. Yes I have a food love language. You can get to my heart through my stomach.Upon entering it is a quaint store. The sign clearly states 1 party at a time. Social distancing efforts are pretty big here. Was greeted. Not in a very friendly sort, just matter of fact. So it made my decisions of what I wanted to buy not a very good experience. I wanted to ask questions but didnt feel I could really do so.So to make it quick and get out of there, I opted for the Ube upside down, Strawberry upside down, Ube bread pudding, and their Ube Oatchata. What stole the show was the Ube upside down. Goodness that crumble and Ube was amazing. I have never tried anything like that before. So good.Interior has 2 seating areas that seem perfect for a great book, and some reflective time. Everything was very clean and pleasing to the eye. Staff wore masks to ensure good ol Covid safety.Would recommend - pricing is high. However the quality of the ingredients are very good. I wish I would have had a better experience with the person behind the counter. Honestly I would have spent more money if it would have been different. Maybe I was just there on the wrong day and def wrong time.

I ordered the only vegan options on their menu: The Ube Horchata and The Ube Chia Seed Pudding. Between the both of them, the Horchata was definitely my favorite. It was midly sweet, yummy, and gave me reminiscing memories of middle school where I would always get horchata in the morning with my chicken tamales. I would skip breakfast just to pay for this Mexican goodness. If I ever come back I will get the Horchata non-iced, so I can try it warm. The pudding on the other hand was nothing special for my tastebuds. The texture was gross and the flavors consisted of coconut, chia seeds, but at the same time, invisible. The pudding is not something I would get again.Overall, the delivery process was noncontact and having Ube in liquid form was a yummy 1st taste. I wouldnt be opposed to ordering again. :)

After a light meal at the Spoon & Pork across the street, I had more room for dessert so headed over FrankieLucy. Not my first visit though because Id been here before. However, I didnt buy anything when I realized that they carry same products I had with Crème Caramel LA which didnt impress me.Several years passed, I decided to pay them another visit to see their latest offering. By the way, this is a small shop which is pretty clean and well kept. Theres limited inside seating and a few more outside.I was immediately greeted and asked if its my first time. I said no and actually have tried some of their items from Crème. He offered me a new item called the Purple Heart Emoji. Its an ube custard with lemon zest and baked meringue topping. It was an excellent custard but I find it quite expensive considering the size.Just a week after, I paid them another visit and this time I got myself a drink known as the Pandan Hornet. Its a vegan drink made with coconut, almond and rice milk which I really liked. It was creamy, sweet and very refreshing.Glad to have given them second chances and I could see myself becoming a regular here. Will definitely be back to try other stuff.

Absolutely delicious!! We shared a quiche with feta and zucchini, some tofu tacos, and a pandan flan. The quiche was perfectly crispy. The tacos were a Vietnamese take on tacos, very fresh with a really great sauce on top, would definitely order them again. The pandan flan was excellent, super smooth and creamy and sweet. We also had a great latte. The service was a little slow but it was a busy Friday night and we sat outside so we werent complaining. Definitely will be back!

Delicious bakery with unique offerings in desserts, pastries, and drinks. The owners are Filipino so they infuse ube flavors in addition to pandan.Their popular items include the Ube Upsidedown Pie and the Pandan Upsidedown Pie. In addition. The Ube Horchata has a shot of espresso mixed in. Wow!If you are unsure about this place, they offer free samples, which is what got me hooked. If you check-in via Yelp, you get a $1 offdiscount. Wow! Tried several different flan (original, mango, upside down pandan). They were all delicious!! Very creamy/custardy and not overly sweet. Loved all the flavors (though next time, would skip the upside down version with the crumble topping and just get the regular version instead). Also tried their brookie which was good but nothing special. Shop also has some cute cards and other gift items.Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the store itself reeked of stale smoke, like someone chain smokes in there, but the desserts themselves were unaffected so will still go back again (and maybe just hold my breath...)

There was a long wait to get our food but it was well worth it. The ice cream is not too sweet and very smooth and milky. The bingsoo is very different from other places. I give it a 3 star because as a Filipino and knowing the taste of Taro, of say it is average, its a fusion and more Americanized flavor. Its hot good texture and balance of sweetness, however, the Upside Down Ube Cream isnt the best Ive had. Ill recommend it to those who never had a Taste of Taro before. Or something new to try.
