The pastries here are so good. The traditional baguette was good, the strawberry danish was just OK but the palmier was really delicious. I was disappointed that I couldn’t try the croissant because they were already sold out. We also got the breakfast sandwich with the ciabatta. The ciabatta felt a little cold compared to the rest of the ingredients in the sandwich, but it was still yummy. I’ll be back for their palmier and to try their other pastries.

This review is based on arriving 5 mins after closing time. After conveying to the staff cleaning outside our interest was in picking up some pastries if there were some left, he unlocked the door and there was a well presented staff member ready to take our order. The ham & cheese croissant, chocolate croissant and kouign-amann were all very, very good...especially when heated at home!We couldnt wait to taste some outside the store and the same man who let us in after closing time greeted us and asked about what we thought of the pastries in a heavy french accent. The entire first-time visit couldnt have been better! Thank you Pitchoun!

Worst croissant I’ve ever tasted.First time trying Pitchoun, ordered through uber eats on a Saturday morning:Plain croissant (0/5): seriously insulting. Dense like a rock, heavy, tasteless, worse than bad bread. Nothing like the fresh, flakey, buttery, treat one should expect.Ham and cheese croissant (2/5): edible, that’s it.Chocolate chip cookie (1/5): not fresh, weirdly greasy tasting, hard as a rock.Parian flan (0/5): for an item that claims to have a high risk of addition, this just plain sucks, cold, wet, bland, unfriendly jello.Oat milk latte (1/5): no coffee or oat milk tastes to be found anywhere in this ‘latte’If you want tasty food, stay away!!

Stephane Treand was moving his shop from SOCO Costa Mesa to Tustin and while the Tustin shop was not up and running yet, I had a craving for a good croissant. So, I googled best croissants in LA and it came up that Pitchoun was voted #1. I made a 45 minute drive to try some. Sorry guys, I dont know if the shop owners have been in LA too long or they had never really made good croissants, but they are just not very good. The croissants had a distinct sweet and salty taste to it that is a far cry from Stephane Treands or a good croissant from La Parisienne on rue Madame in Paris. This is a good example of when number one of something is no where near number one of where it should be. The short bread cookies are alright though expensive.

I was here last year and loved the place so I was excited to come back again.Unfortunately only disappointment was waiting for me.Staff at the counter was neither friendly or rude, they simply didn’t care.I ordered Latte and Almond Croissant after waiting for 15 minuets I went to ask about my order. Somehow they missed it, the lady reluctantly apologized to me and I got my order.Latte was watery I couldn’t even drink a half of it (it didn’t even looked good). The almond croissant still was great.I’m disappointed how the quality of food and service has dropped within a year.Only 3 stars now...used to be 5.

I was pretty sceptical about the whole “Provence” and French spiel here (I travel to France frequently). First food. The bread was soft and nicely toasted. The eggs were fine. They were drowning in hollandaise sauce. I could not taste the salmon because of it. Coffee was lukewarm. Large cup of coffee is a bowl (what?). This is a big operation and it lacks any kind of charm (charm = 0), like french cafes do. Pastries looked enormous, so I skipped them altogether (pastries in France are never large. Quality over quantity). Hence all this, two stars taken away.

Eggs benedict and croissants were sold out. The avocado toast looked and tasted like store bought avocado past on a very thin piece of bread, no texture at all. Everything is served on really flimsy paper plates, enjoy trying to cut anything against that without eating some plate. Coffee which was served late, had little to no aroma, definitely not freshly ground. Almost all small pastries were sold out on a Sunday afternoon. Server forgot to ask or bring sugar/stirrers for the coffee. Finally, asked for water, was server water with bits of dirt/potting-mix floating in it. For pastries youre better off grabbing something from Clark Street bakery in Grand Central. And for good coffee, go anywhere else.

Had a potato cake (kartoffelkage if there is a French version with more layers?) just now with white tea out on the patio. This is so far my favorite french café in the Los Angeles area. The pastries and macarons are all very delicious and you cannot be wrong with your choice. My favorites are the almond tart and chocolate tart. Both have a rich taste and the exact amount of sweetness. Concerning the savory items, they are good, but cannot compete with the pastries. Although the Ratatouille Quiche was awesome. I had the Niçoise Salad which was OK and a bit blend in taste. I also tried the Sandwich South West featuring duck prosciutto. It was also just OK, the duck tasted a little bit too strong and the bread, although I like crunchy, was too hard, and with all the yummy ingredients still tasted a little bit blend. But I would say you just have to work with the additional Salt and Pepper. Overall, I am still giving 5 Stars, because the pastries are an absolute must if you like sweets and the environment is superb. Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles with all its hustle and bustle, when you enter you get immediately a calm and relaxing feel of a french backyard café. Awesome! Regarding getting there, it is relatively easy to get there with the Subway system and within 10minutes of walk. It will be hard to find parking though if you want to arrive by car. There is a parking garage next door for a reasonable price, but be aware that the parking spots are tiny.

The bride and groom chose a white genoise cake with a strawberry infused butter cream. The exterior was French butter cream. It was light and delicate and just delicious. We also had 300 mini tarts to accompany the cake. The tarts where inhaled within 10 minutes after the cake had been served. I had ordered custom dessert boxes for the left overs but there were NONE. Food is Good. But they dont seem to care about health standards! I was there having breakfast and one of the waiters came and started sweeping the floor in the packed eating area. A man at a table near me very nicely asked him if he could do that later and to my surprise the waiter got angry, gave a dirty look to the guy and swept even harder trying to kick up more dust. It appears that one unhappy employee was very successful in not only ruining our meals but also creating a nasty UNHEALTHY environment in an eating establishment! I hope that man complained to the management and they took care of retraining their staff because not only I dont really want to go there any more I would also not recommend it to anyone for that reason!
