Look for: Lifesaving molletes. Theyre just ok but still. I mean this is kind of fast, commercialized Mexican. However, the place is pretty and plays good music.I do appreciate all the Dia de Muertos stuff today though!The bread is diverse and ok too. One visit and Im hooked! Excellent customer service. Best Cafe de Olla Ive tried and of course they have the best Polvorones cookies to compliment my coffee. I dont live near by so when I run low on ground coffee, I order online now and have my delivery within a couple of business days! La Monarca is simply awesome...Not only do I enjoy brewing my daily coffee shipped from them but also make my own Champurrado frappe with their mix. I definitely recommend this place.

Its a nice bakery thats notorious for their cafe de olla! Few places in the country make it quite like this unique LA chain! I find parking to be difficult, but that was my only disappointment. I ordered a ham and cheese crossiant for $2.50; you cant beat it. 😋

Monarca use to be a good place, not until they raise their prices ridiculously. Customer service has always been not to good. if you are trying to over price things at least prepare your employees to greet. For example a small Mantecada for 1 PC is $2.00. I will not come back to this place.

This was a delicious bakery! We had a large group come in and they got all of our orders correct and to us in a timely manner. In the midst of COVID, they dont have any indoor or outdoor seating available, but they cleared out their dining room so social distancing is better available. The food and drinks were also great and the staff was very friendly!

We spent more money here on breakfast than we did at Dennys, we ordered some Mexican chocolate that it was regular powder chocolate with cinnamon, nothing special...the mole con pollo burrito tasted like raw meat and no flavor...the soy chorizo torta, tasted like paper, so was not worth the 28 dlls spent, almost as much as Starbucks and not flavor in the food, but the service was ok

Update: Although Martha reached out to me to make corrections from my previous experience, this location does not have their online orders together. You pay ahead to skip the line and staff will still have you line up behind the morning rush even though your order is ready. What’s the point of online ordering and paying ahead if your staff still makes you wait? I will not be coming back to this location and hope to hear from management soon. Also, they have no manager on site to deal with potential issues. So if you have a problem, your best bet is leaving a negative review!Previous review: If you order online from this La Monarca Bakery & Cafe location, dont expect it to be ready at the given time slot. Staff will tell you their printer is out of order, making online ordering seem low priority/completely inefficient. I ordered something for pick-up at 6:30 a.m., when I arrived at 6:50 a.m., they had not even started the order. Also, they have no managers at this location, so customer service issues are difficult to address/deal with. Next time, Ill take my business to Capuyo Cafe on 1st Street, staff is kind and they actually have a manager/owner on site!

Where else to obtain morning bravery and succumb successfully wanderlust temptations over warm pastries and select coffees while your toosh lays low key on sunken slouching very straight wooden chairs and tables. Don’t mind the blasting of modern rock from MTV2 be your thing if it’s not, earphones are always a welcome. Free WiFi with a purchase, pedestrian view of Caesar Chavez Street—clean bathrooms, cleaned everything, almost too spotless.

Fresh coffee, good selection of pastries, friendly customer service, little difficult to find parking but its worth it.

I was so excited when this location opened. We needed a local coffee shop that could have people work on their laptops and study. The music is great, table sizes are good, the pastries are delicious, and I love having so many options with drinks. I usually go during the week in the day time I’ve been able to get so much work done.

The best pan dulce del area

If you are looking for a place that has pretty cakes that are massively disappointing look no further. I have had 3 different cakes from this place and each one has been dryer and more over baked than the last. In addition to being extremely dry the cakes lack flavor, this is really a disappointment because the cakes are always decorated so nicely. If you are looking for a good bakery in the NELA area save your time and money and go to the Eagle Rock Italian bakery.

Great Bday cakes. A little different than other bakeries. You can order them online. Just check that the decoration is as shown in their website.

Please try their sugar cookies. In Mumbai, India we have something called as Nankatayi-नानकटाय. These cookies tasted exactly the same. Brought back loads of good old memories.

One star for the Chavez Ave/LA location only because zero is not possible. We tried to order lunch there today for curbside pickup, directly thru their website. They took my credit card, sent a confirming email for the entire order and a text alert with the pickup time.We arrived at the pickup time only to be told that they were out of burritos, so they didnt make either of the two wraps we ordered. For some other unexplained reason, they didnt make either drink or even put our one slice of cake in a to-go box.What is going on here? They had both my email address and phone number, but couldnt be bothered to email, call or text? Why require that info if youre not going to use it? The counter worker had nothing to say, so she got her supervisor, who at least refunded the charge but wasnt particularly apologetic about it, either. The supervisor tried to blame it on a delivery app, but we ordered directly thru your website. Then she tried to blame the production side of the company. I stopped listening.We wasted an hour driving down to that store to try to support your business. Our mistake. Dont worry, it wont happen again.

I love cafe oaxaca but as you can see in the picture you can tell the difference on the color and in the taste as well...I asked Hilda to make it again and she said both of them have the same ingredients and she refuse to make it again...well for now I will go to the monarca on 1st st which is really close from this one...to la monarca management you should train your employees to put same ingredients when making the same coffee...

The flaky, pastry goodness of the fresh almond croissants here are undeniable. So so very good and worth the occasional treat-yourself moments. There are other pastry options here also, but it will take a few more visits to try them all.

Definitely NOT THE LATEST & GREATEST!!!Not only were we not greeted upon arrival....Product Knowledge of the items on their menu was minimal!! .....In the end we were charged $35.00 for six tacos, 1 frappe, 1 Oaxaca ice Cafe& a chicken salad, which by the way was frozen!!!! .......Brought it to the attention of the staff, but they refused to exchanged nor HEAT UP!!!! .....

The server was very courteous and helpful. She was able to knowledgeably answer questions about vegan options available in their menu. I was able to order a Molette with soy chorizo, beans, and potatoes (no cheese). I also got a Mexican hot chocolate with oat milk. Both were delicious! So flavorful! She even threw in some vegan cookies! They had a lovely Dia de Los Muertos altar up and there was a generous amount of seating. All of their fresh baked goods are clearly labeled and their cakes looked amazing! I will definitely support again.

Before anything the reason why Im giving this location a 3 is, because the customer service here is not good. On Thursday my husband when to buy 2 cakes and ask the lady to write happy thanksgiving and she was just giving him excuses and not wanting to do it. We have always gone to Monarcas for cake and never heard someone complain about putting a name to the cake. This will definitely be our last time going to this specific place due to the situation.

Great burritos

I wandered into this wonderland and was pleasantly surprised. They were welcoming and offered a sample of my current obsession for tres leche cake. It was delicious and so was the other sample they gave me which was the dulce de leche cake and wow! This could possibly be a new founded obsession and Im not even a cake person. I wasnt even expecting to buy anything but I kinda felt obligated but in a good way. How is that you say? Because, I left with a piece of tres leche cake which was moist and delicious and it went great with a cup of tea later that day.

To be a place where the specialty is selling coffee, they leave a lot to be desired since on several occasions that coffee has come for me, the coffee is moderately cold, which in my personal opinion, a hot coffee must be hot.
