They catered our photo shoot. They dropped off boxed breakfast and lunch once and it was the best of the 5 different places we had that week. It was delicious and hearty, not crazy healthy and not toooo much unhealthy goodness. Just the right balanced. We also placed an order for pick up for 8 people. Their service was great and they are friendly at 7am in the morning. Would Def recommend for them to cater your photo/film shots

Had really high hopes for this place. French girl recommended it to me. Unfortunately, the food didnt taste very good. I got the breakfast plate. My boyfriend got the pumpkin pancakes, and my friend got the huevos rancheros. All three of us were pretty dissatisfied, especially for the price we paid. 1 star is for the pearl rose tea, and the other is for the atmosphere/presentation, but the food was just no :( Too acidic, too bitter, weird combination of flavors.

This place always hits the spot and in the midst of COVID - Im so glad that I got to visit this place again recently. I love how theres parking in the back because sometimes its really hard to find parking in DTSJ. The wait time was around 20 minutes on a Sunday morning and the waiter called us when our table was ready. It was a little noisy dining in since it was outdoors, but the food made up for it. Im still thinking about it ...

I love this place’s attention to detail for those of us with dietary restrictions. I love the food, but COVID-wise the pickup is a long wait if all you want is a coffee and a pastry. Will try calling ahead or ordering online next time because I love Amara and want to stay safe and keep them safe!

The best!!! Love this restaurant. I have a ton of food allergies and finally found a restaurant in LA that works for me. Also the must of being an organic restaurant puts them on the top. And really what its all about is the taste... off the charts!!! I recommend the buckwheat pancakes, I cant get enough!!! They also carry mountain valley spring water!. My mom loved her meal as well and she is super picky and not a health nut. The price is reasonable. I also love that they serve breakfast all day.

Good good in a small, homey neighborhood kitchen joint. I had the Purple Eggs with a side of prosciutto. There were so many yummy flavors in the dish: the her by fresh greens, the savory potato patties, the tart pickled purple cabbage, and the sweet beets. My niece had a delicious plate of Paleo Pancakes. I had a bite, they were tasty and moist, not dry like some gluten free pancakes are. Definitely stop by is you can. Its easy to miss, but follow your GPS and youll get there.

Okay Amara generally has good tasting food but I was slightly disappointed with the presentation and taste of the spicy chia. I ordered the vegan breakfast very tasty no complaints. Then I was still hungry so I ordered a single pancake and to my surprise it was a thin crumble of a pancake. The spicy chia was way too milky with absolutely no flavor or spice. Overall tasty food but needs to ensure consist quality of presentation especially with an 8% service added automatically to your bill.

Went here twice this week while visiting family in the HP area. Loved it both times. Tried the Green Eggs my first visit. Delicious. Tried the Paleo pancakes and a few incredible bites of my moms Avocado toast. I’ll order that next time. I also really enjoyed my Amara milk cappuccino.Bonus experience while waiting in line a lady recommended and offered to buy a chocolate chip cookie for me. But the lady behind the counter just handed it to me as a kind and generous gesture. Super nice people at Amara. Awesome little gem in Highland Park.

Amara is wonderful. Great food and staff. Yummy vegan options including baked goods. Loved coming here pre-covid and enjoy take out nowadays. They also have a community pantry to donate food items direct to those in need in the community, which is amazing, so bring any extra non-perishable items to donate if you can when coming to pick up your order.

I bookmarked this restaurant when looking for paleo options in LA and today after a doctors appointment I realized it was too near not to try it out.I ordered the paleo pancakes and my mother tried the parfait with granola. The food was delicious! But what made Amara a place I’ll go out of my way to try again was their phenomenal service and kindness.Because it was our first time here and we weren’t sure if we needed to place orders online because of COVID, we definitely were confused customers. But they were very patient with us and offered to take our order over the register to make it easier.I live in Glendora but would definitely go there again because the staff was just really really nice.I wish I had pictures of the food, SUPER YUMMY. Especially the maple butter accompanied with my paleo pancakes. It was so good I had to double check to make sure it was dairy free!

Food and service was amazing! I got the Avocado toast with eggs and salad upgrade with an expresso for $16. Will definitely return. I recommend this to anyone who concerned with health as most of the menu accommodates gluten free diets, vegan (not my plate though), and vegeterian diets. I felt welcomed and very comfortable here. Ordered the quart of pulled chicken and two orders of two eggs. The chicken was $12 and filled about halfway in a tiny container (probably 4 ounces for $12). I was given two of my four eggs (please dont charge $4 for two eggs if youre not even going to put them in my bag?). When we went back for the other two eggs (with receipt), they gave us one poached (I ordered them medium fried) egg. Overpriced and seemingly little attention to detail. It didnt seem busy and you took 30 minutes to get my order together. What were you doing in that time? Twiddling thumbs? Not a fan.

I was staying with a friend who lives nearby so I walked over one day to get something to eat while my friend was at work. My breakfast sandwich was delicious and the chocolate chip cookie was quite possibly the best chocolate chip cookie Ive ever had.Went back the next day and had the chicken salad, which was also wonderful and, of course, another chocolate chip cookie.Skipped a few days and went again the day before I flew home. Had the breakfast burrito which was outstanding. I got some cookies to take home and a lemon poppy seed mini-cake for breakfast on the airplane the next day. The lemon poppy seed cake was so buttery and amazing that I might have been moaning on the plane while I ate it.So now Im trying to figure out when I can get back to LA for more Amara deliciousness. Great food! High quality ingredients. Although my last experience was very underwhelming considering the portion size. Amara’s is a cozy cafe, hidden on a side street in Highland Park. After the line finally started moving inside, the first thing that struck my was the simple yet clever decor of dried flowers and fruit hanging from the ceiling and draping the wall. It creates a nice warm ambiance.I had a hard time deciding between the Purple Eggs and the Green Eggs. They both looked delicious by the description. I went with Green Eggs on a whim, and was pleasantly surprised with the contrast between the Eggs and the purple cabbage (yes the Green Eggs also had purple cabbage), and avocado. How often do you get purple cabbage for breakfast!?Lastly, the baked goods were absolutely amazing. I also had hard choice, good thing other in my party were down to split a few. I don’t know what they called it, there was this cookie with chocolate on top, and a scone, both vegan. I’m not vegan, but these were G-O-O-D!!!My only complaint is that we had to fight for tables at the prime hour for Saturday morning, but isn’t that the case for any immensely popular order first then find seat, hot spots?

I found this place on Yelp and came here because the food looked good and had good reviews. I walked in and the place looked very clean, I like that. I felt a bit out of place, almost like a what are you doing here feeling. This is my first time here, I brought my mom to breakfast, we walked in grabbed a menu and sat down. We waited for about 10 to 15 min before realizing no one was coming to take our order. So I got up and placed my order at the counter. Our food arrived and they forgot we place drink orders and had to make them after our food was served. Many people came through the door and got the drinks before we did. I feel like everyone has the same color cash so we should all be treated fairly because every single paying customer counts. Thats all Im saying. Thats the only thing I did not like other then that the food was not bad at all. It was also a bit on the hot side in there.

Amara Kitchen is part of what is now a standard in brunch spots - gentle, inviting interiors, healthy leaning bowls and dishes with generous dietary options, a selection of baked goods, and interesting tea and drink options. This is a neighborhood spot most people on the East Side would be glad to call their local café. The dishes are good, slightly more interesting takes on your standard breakfast burritos, sandwiches, and bowls. Lots of poached eggs, aioli, caramelized onion. This place doesnt have a standout item though, and without AC in the summer it gets a little moist. Maybe its a high standard to judge Amara by, but in LA folks who frequent places like this see how it falls a little short of a Kitchen Mouse or Sqirl. Still, probably the best breakfast north of York in Eagle Rock / HLP.
