This was my first visit to Potter Automotive based on my neighbors enthusiastic recommendation and I couldnt have been more pleased with Adam and the business. Had extensive maintenance done on my truck thats getting on in years now. I found Adams communication on things that needed to be done totally honest and with no pressure to accept anything advised. He clearly explained what needed to be done now and those things that could wait a few thousand miles more, such as a brake change. I found his prices to be excellent and he was exceptionally trustworthy. Id highly recommend Potter Automotive if you needed some repairs or maintenance on your vehicle.

I was trying to find good, honest, straight forward mechanic as I moved to Kyle, Texas from Alaska. I went to the car dealership and was quoted $2,100 plus for a coolant leak repair job. Potter had it for two days, put the right parts, and installed the fluid. They pressure tested everything and double checked other coolant leak vulnerabilities (i.e. turbo chargers) in my vehicle. It cost $360.00!!!! That was lower than their quote and well below what Ford quoted. I have a new shop I will use for any repairs I cannot do myself. Its Potter Automotive. Adam is the man! I cant say enough about this shop.

I used Potter a few times before moving out of state, and coming back years later this is still where I want to take my vehicle. Adam is extremely good at his job too, as he pin-pointed some problems with my car that plenty of other mechanics either never found or never cared to tell me (head gaskets and steering column in this case).5 stars all the way.

Had a great experience here getting my A/C checked. Truly a unique experience where I felt entirely informed throughout. I live in South Austin, but it will absolutely be worth the slightly extra commute to see a trustworthy professional. I’ll be bringing any cars I own here for the foreseeable future.

I really dont know much about cars, so when a few things went wrong on my Nissan, I took it to the dealership. They wanted to charge me ~$2000 for 3 repairs. I called Potter Automotive around noon on a Tuesday, dropped my car off a couple of hours later and had my car back around noon the next day at half the price of what the dealership wanted, I even got a student discount! Adam was super nice and explained to me what was going on with my car and made sure I was informed each step of the way. He also just put a cap back onto a valve and told me I didnt need to replace that, even though the dealership wanted to charge me $200 to do something unnecessary. I am beyond pleased with my first auto repair experience. Adam was so transparent and nice about everything and Im really glad I chose to come here to fix my car. I will be coming back here anytime I need something fixed and I will be recommending Potter Automotive to anyone/everyone.

Look no further when considering a mechanic. Not only is Adam a diamond in the rough, he is a maestro conducting a symphony of mechanical prowess! I had an issue w my drive shaft😫. Soon as I brought it in he went right to work! Extremely knowledgeable & transparent when it comes to issues w vehicles. Never once did I feel apprehensive when he was diagnosing. I had multiple issues with my car that needed to be addressed and I was recommended to Potter Automotive by a coworker. I was impressed by his honesty, the quality of his work, and timeliness. He’s a one man shop so I assumed the work would take longer than it did. Additionally, his prices are fair and reasonable compared to what you’ll find at big name auto shops! I’ve been driving my car a week now since his repairs and it’s driving great! Would definitely go back!

The difference between going to Adam at Potter Automotive and other mechanics is that where some give you an estimate only on best case scenario, he tells it like it is. Today he said $40 - a couple hundred. The repair might be expensive because of the wheel design and require breaking parts and replacing them.It turned out he could rethread the stud. He checked all the wheels and found another and move my donut to the rear wheel for safety.He works very efficiently and fluidly and always has something interesting to say.I also.got the lowest price. This was my second service from him and I give him a top rating for quality and honesty.

Hi everyone. I brought two vehicles in for a small fix and a bigger project in December.Adam was able to explain to me what was going on in each scenario, told me what all of my options were, and gave me heads up on what to look for in the near future. He looked at my engine on my ford escape and said that the rear passenger tire looked like it had been patched (it was, not by him) and had a slow leak.Adam is honest and reasonable, he truly loves his work. I trust his judgement, and will bring my vehicles to his garage for sure.

Great mechanic. Super knowledgeable and by far the most HONEST mechanic I have ever encountered. I recently had my timing belt, water pump, spark plugs & more replaced here. Adam is seriously the best! I made an appt after hearing a weird rattling noise at the back of my car. Assumed it was something loose with the rear tire. When I got there, he had me drive it until we heard the noise, which is actually a great idea, since he was expecting something completely different. We got back to the shop and he looked under my bumper and saw that some piece was missing that holds it securely to the car. He went to grab the piece from his garage, popped it in, and that was it. I tried to pay him for his time, and he said just to bring it back next time when I needed service. He also gave me some great advice on what I might need to do in the future, as this is a new (used) car for me, and I want to keep it in good shape. I have never had such an honest mechanic in my life. As a woman, it’s so hard to find someone you can trust with car stuff. Thank you so much Adam for the great service, I truly appreciate it!

Knowledgeable, experienced and timely fixes.

I met Adam a couple years ago trying to find a reliable mechanic before he started his own shop. I have been taking my 02 F150 to him ever since. You will not find a more honest, knowledgeable, and cost-effective shop.For example, I live in San Antonio, car started to act up, took it to a highly rated shop nearby. Diagnosis was going to be $125 to $175. Decided to hold off until I was in the Kyle area. Adam looked at it, within minutes he was able to diagnosis it (bad coil) and happened to have a spare used (but good) coil. I was in and out in less than an hour (including diagnosis and replacement of the part) and paid much less than what the other shop was going to charge for diagnosis.There are so many more good experiences I have had with Adam. Me and my brother agree: you cannot go wrong with Adams services.

Had the heater core replaced on my car this week, of course I called around to find the best price after the problem was diagnosed. I was trying to scrounge the money up, it is a difficult job and my budget is limited, so I need the best price and someone qualified to do it. Potter Automotive checked both of those boxes for me! He was literally half the price of his local competition and I could tell by the way he diagnosed my problem that he knew what he was talking about. In less than 24 hours my keys were back in my hands, the problem was fixed and there was literally no evidence that my entire dashboard had been removed! I have a new mechanic and he has an awesome beard.

Adam is a great guy and an excellent mechanic. Hes fast and efficient and will help you out when he can. Ive found his pricing to be a smidge higher than some of the big name shops but nothing worth losing sleep over. I will 100% be taking my automotive business to Potter Automotive from now on. The best car repair experience Ive ever had! Super honest and straightforward.

If you want a a mechanic who knows what theyre doing and is a straight shooter, Potter is the real deal. We brought in our 2010 Nissan Altima for an oil change, a tire rotation, and a repair of an intermittent grinding noise when braking. We were ready for the worst, but Potter took our car for a short test drive and looked at it for a half-hour or so and was able to narrow down the grinding issue to a tiny part he fixed for free. He also confirmed the tire rotation was not needed yet, and we ended up only paying for the cost of an oil change.May 2, 2019 Update: Consistently Still 5 Stars (See Below)Although I have worked with Potter at Potter Automotive in the past and he has been honest, thorough, and stands behind his quality, I thought I should bring our 2010 Nissan Altima to the dealer to have them take a look at a couple things. The dealer came back with a $4700 quote to fix everything, and I was floored at how a working car could have that much in needed repairs.I took it to Potter for a second opinion, and as expected he came back with a detailed analysis of everything wrong, what needed to be fixed now, what could wait until later (as well as letting me know at what point it would need to be a concern), and explained the general condition of our car.After Potter took a good look at it and made agreed repairs, I ended up with a bill of about $950 - 1/5 of the price. I should have brought my car to Potter at the start, and hes made a customer for life. The man even fixed some stuff the dealer missed, and he didnt even charge me for it!Potter is a solid, honest tech, and hes also an honorable man. Do yourself a favor and let him work on your cars. You will not be disappointed.He probably could have charged us more for unnecessary repairs if he wanted to, but he didnt - Ill remember that the next time I (or anyone else I know) needs anything done on a car. Id recommend Potter to anyone who wants a solid mechanic who will tell them the truth - good or bad.

Ive used Adam twice now in the last month. Both times he did a great job and very competitive prices. First time was much overdue basic maintenance - belts, hoses etc. He did find another problem while there. I hate when going into a garage and it always seems like they try to add on something. Adam showed me the damaged part and explained why it failed so very knowledgeable with my 07 vehicle. Hes going to be my go to guy. Im due for oil change on another vehicle and will be stopping by later today. Guess that will make 3 visits now.
