That auto place is the best experience have ever had since moving to Tx since 2013. My husband and I took my Honda Pilot there and they work on it instantaneously and the repair was excellently done for moderate price tag. I love that place men!!! Theyre so experienced and knowledgeable to diagnose any thing about the car. Kudos to the owner and the mechanic that works there.

Ive known David Dahl and his family since 1994 when I started having my car serviced only by them. The only exception was recently when I panicked that my oil had not been changed recently. Was afraid to drive to Katy for fear of ruining the engine so I went near my home. The cost was double what David would have changed me. Big mistake on my part.David has replaced almost everything on my 1991 Honda and it runs really well. I will never again let anyone do anything to my Honda except the inspection, which he does not handle.I listed some services above but Im sure there are many, many more that he has fixed for me. Example: Washer units on the hood that were coming unattached from the hood since the car is so old.Love Katy Foreign & Domestic Auto!!!

Davids business has been working on all my personal vehicles for years. I have never had any problems with his service. I have seen David do charity work on vehicles for people who were unable to pay for the service. Davids shop does diagnostic work for free. Davids shop is not one of your squeaky clean places where the employees know how to replace parts instead of repairing them. His labor charges are usually lower than other shops around.I highly recommend Katy Foreign & Domestic Auto for all your vehicle needs.

Ive used Dave for almost 20 years and never had any issue. They have always been nice to my family and friends that I have referred. In one case he saved a friend of mine almost 1000.00 on a repair that was mis-diagnosed by another local facility. You wont find a nicer guy to work with than Dave and he is always straight forward on what needs to be done.
I was having problems with my car and check engine light came on as well as traction light.I came to Foreign & Domestic because they seemed like an honest neighborhood auto shop. I was charged over 600$ for something that was actually a $27 speed sensor issue! After doing some research I realized the owner knew this was the problem from the beginning.It’s very sad and unfortunate. I really wanted to like this place. He should not have charged what he did. If you are new to the area and don’t know much about cars especially newer models I would not recommend this place.Ilana

Awesome is the first word that comes to mind. A few facts. Im a blessed person. Share whenever I can. As luck would have it, I heard my oldest granddaughter got herself a job.The following is my personnel experience with David at Katy. But if its to long, the short is this shop and for sure David is an awesome honest shop owner. Who understood what happen and wanted to help me help her.Yet with that she was using uber to go and return to work. Her pay is $7 an hour. Life came my way, funds I been waiting 20 months after an assault on the job, were finally awarded.A subaru came to my attention, got it, I replace water pump, service a.c. clear codes, and drive it to see if its good. All good.Tow it to Texas, show granddaughter how to drive. Yet I started showing her to drive at 12. Never know when an emergency can happen.After storm Barry, I pack up truck, take step daughter and her friend and off to New York we go.Giniya first day driving to school, stops for gas. Not know what to put in oh no, diesel.West houston subaru checks and service rate book says 8 hours to do. I do my own repairs, have for a long while. Still at times you have to have work done.Sople to service advisor, I believe it could be done quicker. Explain to him.So like grandkids say, I google repair shops in 77493 zip.When I called Katy foreign and domestic repair shop. I spoke to person who answered and leave a message informing him what happen.David. Will get back to you. I call few other shops. One shop was polite and took my needed service, they will check and get back to you.You see I was doing all this from New York, trip including paying last respects to nephew die while advance military training before a deployment. I would have return to texas and do service myself, but not a real possibility.A little later I call David at Katy repair shop. As soon as I let him know who I was and the diesel, he had checked what the work that it would take.He give me a high and a low price, then he explained why the low price was if he could do it without dropping the gas tank.Where speaking with David I knew by how he spoke about I, see if I can save me some money.The tow company he used only charged $65. Ok. He completed the repairs, so quick, I had to wait another day to pay it after done.I also asked him to flush radiator and add correct anti freeze mix. Hose had I leak, I cut hose above the leak, but it was to short and leaked. As well a swellon lower hose.He went to get the hoses himself, trying to get car back to my granddaughter.If your in need of a shop, that listen, give good chooses, and did not over charge or sell anything but what needed to be done.Thank you for taking the time to read this. Absolute ripoffCharged 200 for what was less than a hour of work, i know because id done the same job myself previously with basic hand tools. I couldve bought all the tools this job requires for less than what they charged. They claimed to have taken off the heat sheild and inner splash sheild to take out the o2 sensor (which i supplied)The truck had no splash shield or heat shield when i left it or when i got the vehicle back.Unfortunately i wasnt the one who dropped off or picked up the vehicle due to my schedule being tight and got a friend to do it.Dont trust these guys
I swear this place is a rip off. I took my car down there for a oil change and I noticed my car wasnt moved. When I got back to work my boyfriend pulled the oil filter and the oil that came out was black and the check oil light was still on. When I went back to them they tried to tell me they use recycled oil. Bull they used the same oil already in there and just put on a new filter. I would rather burn up my motor then take it to them for an oil change. If you take your car there plan on getting screwed. If you want pics of the oil after they did the oil change I will gladely send pictures of it.
While in Katy needed car serviced. They are friendly and reasonable.

Poor is not a bad enough term for my experience, Down right suck is more like it.Absolutely horrible. My wife had an a/c problem in her Honda CRV that started in 2011 that they said was due to the condenser, a $1200 dollar job. Its still did not work after they were done so we took it back, a second time.When we got it back again and it worked for about a day but failed again promptly. after ward, So Being generous but frustrated i let them try to fix their mistake for the third time .It stil did not work, every time it was a new problem or a part under warranty would go out soon after. I was so angry but my wife said in tears that she did not want to cause problems. My wife had be going to See the owner David at Katy Auto for 20 years and so she swore that he was reputable so i decided to give them a fourth try. THE A/C STILL DID NOT WORK.We took it to a honda dealer to get it checked out, and they said that who ever worked on it at Katy Auto banged up the hoses and broke alot of things, I told David I wanted them to fix their problem and still got it back not working.for the fifth try still my wife in tears from the problems, insisted that we let them look at it and they said the Condenser had blown but was still under warranty. I let it go again, but after a day It did not work still.My wifes mother borrowed it and took it back to them for the sixth time they said a fan must be out, so I did the work my self, but when I tested the fan it worked fine. Another poor diagnosis.i cant remember everything that was all broken every time but its been SEVEN TIMES IN THE SHOP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE A/C STILL DOES NOT WORK. This time it was the High Compression Hose. They want me to pay $400 dollars to get it replaced.It is now 10/26/2012 They completely failed to diagnose the problem correctly, and still the service they said they would provide of getting my A/C to work has not been accomplished. I cannot trust them to ever finish the job because this had dragged out for a year, and have only tacked on more and more bills to the job.I will never go back there and will tell every body how horrible my service was.
Id mark the quality as HORRIBLE if it was an option...which is disheartning after doing business with them for so long.My husband would take his 1988 Toyota 4x4 pick up to these guys anytime major work was needed and he had no problems. So when my 2004 4Runner starting having problems we knew where to go.Well the first thing I took it in for was for a wheel bearing on the driver side. I told them specifically what side needed to be changed. When I picked it up they (Tink) said they used a stethascope to listen for problems but heard nothing but they changed out the bearing on the right side (passenger side) bc there was too much play in the wheel. So I believed them, paid a pretty penny for the service, got in my vehicle and .....there was that noise again. I drove it back the following week to inform them that the noise was still there, they took a look and changed the driver side bearing...which is what I asked them to do the first time. Paid for that service no discount, same whopping price and drove off...the noise was gone.Took it bk a different time (bc the first time I gave them the benefit of the doubt bc I had no reason not to trust them) my truck was shaking really bad at start up. They ran a diagnostics and said it was my Throttle body. So we paid about 1k to get that replaced and about 1 month later it was shaking again.Well during an oil change the service dpt ran a diagnostic on my truck and said 1 of my spark plugs was mis-firing. So I took it to Oreillys to get a second diagnostics ran and they told me the same thing. I took it to a machanic and he changed out my spark plugs. He showed me that 2 spark plugs were new while the others were old. He questioned me on the throttle body and could tell it was new, unfortunately he told me they (Katy Foreign Auto) charged me for work/parts I didnt need and temporarily corrected the problem by changing out 2 of the spark plugs.I hope this company gets whats coming to them.....might be why they had to move from Fry road to Old town Katy (smaller bldg=less customers)
