Well, I got a 73 charger that just had a oil pressure issue fixed and now the oil pressure is more consistent then before! *would very between 2-5 PSI and now holds steady* Previous work was done on my wrx and it was Awesome. Would recommend.

I came in unsure of what was wrong with the front right wheel on my Honda Civic. I decided to try this garage instead of the dealership.Positives first: the receptionist was quick and friendly. The mechanic who worked on my car was professional.Negatives: not great communication. I received a text with all the things wrong and had to call to get an explanation. (You cant reply to the text) I would think when a customer comes in for the first time, an explanation for what needs replaced would be verbally communicated.My text said I needed:-the front and rear struts replaced-an accessory belt replaced-breaks replacedThere was NOTHING wrong with my REAR struts, they wanted to replace them because they needed to replace my front struts.They also wanted to replace my breaks even though there was still life left in them, youll need them replaced at your next oil change more than 6,000 miles away. Why would I want to replace parts that are working as they are meant to??To add to my displeasure they charged me for the intial inspection ($55) and a front end alignment ($126.94). Every garage Ive ever went to waves that fee since they are doing the work...nope not this garage!!!! AND youre going to replace part of my front end and not include an alignment in the price?!?$1,319.33 was my bill. I paid and left. Mechanics that operate like that are trying to take advantage of people who dont know what to ask. I will not take my vehicle to this place again.Drivers beware.

The Flying Dog Garage did a great job replacing the clutch assembly and gear box shaft seal on my 1992 Saab 900 Turbo. Alex is a conscientious and thorough service manager who kept me informed of the progress of the repairs. The 92 900 is an extremely rare car in this area. But, that did not present a problem for the excellent technicians at the Dog. When I got the 900 back it shifted like a factory new Saab.I wouldnt hesitate to recommend the Flying Dog to any import car owner of any brand or year. Their technical expertise is only exceeded by the outstanding customer service I experienced as a first time customer.

I have a problem with a lot of dealerships and mechanics that they quickly figure out that I know nothing about cars, and therefore the recommendations of what needs to be fixed and replaced just roll on in. With Flying Dog it was the exact opposite. Alex, the gentleman that worked on my car and Brooke the very kind receptionist took time to explain the problems my car was having and kept me updated every step of the way. They also managed to be cheaper than everyone else I had spoken to about the repairs my Volvo (S60 2.5T) needed, and they provided superior service. At no point did I fear that something was going to go wrong or that they were going to replace everything and send me a huge bill for it. I consistently received phone calls about what needed to be done and how soon my car would be ready. Being busy during the entire time my car was in the shop they also have a neat little website where you can approve parts/labor and whatever needs to be done. It was truly amazing. This is by far the best place I have worked with to keep my Volvo running in tip top shape.

I have a 1975 Mercedes SL, needless to say, it is hard to find anyone with experience.when I pulled into Flying Dog there were 4 SLs on the lot. Thank you God....Tanner, a nice young man to begin with, managed to diagnosed and repair a long running problem plus pointed out a number of potential issues that we need to monitor and start addressing. Lets face it gaskets start to dry out on a 45 year old car. Brook, the admin coordinator, kept us informed via emails and was wonderful to work with. Great to see young people doing a terrific job.

After buying a car from diamond auto in Portage the engine blew within a month. I am happy to write a 5 star review for Flying Dog Garage! In January of 2016, I purchased a previously owned vehicle that is out of warranty. Being one that babies my cars and wants to prevent any issues before they surface, I sought out Greg. I was very direct and told Greg that I was looking for someone to take care of my car as I plan to keep this one for many years and miles to come. I had an oil service done. I also had a squeak that was driving me crazy, and it turned out that it was a spot of loose molding on my windshield. Greg put on a glue that secured the molding and NO MORE SQUEAK!! For my next oil service, I will be having some major work done that I asked to be completed so I could follow the MB service schedule. I am putting all my confidence in Greg and look forward to Flying Dog Garage to become my place to go.

I am very impressed by this garage. My car (a 2004 Outback that had been abused by its last owner) had broken down and wouldnt start. They replaced all the things needed to get the car running again, but unfortunately there was deep engine issues that would required a rebuild (which is something I had expected). The entire time they worked on my car, they were friendly and honest. They talked to me about what the car needed overall, and what I could or couldnt wait to fix, based on my budget. I have never had such a pleasant experience with a mechanic.They had shaved off the price of the work where ever they could because the car would not be usable after all the work put in it. They even discussed what my options were for the car from this point forward and said I could leave the car in the lot for a little bit until it was convinient for me to get it out.I will go back to them for the rest of the time I live in this area, I couldnt recommend them more.

Sean & Josh took in our Mini Cooper after another garage (Redford, Michigan) did the worst hack job and did not know what they were doing! These guys did so much trouble shooting to find all the mishaps/mistakes, done previously, to get our car running and road worthy again. I brought my VW TDI in for its 80,000 mile maintenance service. My car was running boggy like it wasnt getting clean gas before I brought it in and was hoping the 80,000 service would fix it with a new fuel filter. It didnt.I then brought the car to a shop in Holland (300 miles after the 80,000 mile maintenance) they insisted it was the fuel filter and I told them I JUST had it replaced the week prior but they were persistent that the fuel filter was the best place to start to fix the problem. What do you know, the car ran great as soon as the fuel filter was replaced.I either got a bad fuel filter from Flying Dog or they never actually changed it out. And if they didnt change it out it makes me wonder what else they didnt do. And if they did actually change it out with a bad replacement part what else did they change out with a bad part? I wont bring my car back... on the bright side the customer service was great and I got the car back the same day I dropped it off... but I would have rather them keep it for another day and picked it up with a new/good fuel filter.

They cant help but do right by you and your car.They know more about your car than you ever will, but theyll never make you feel dumb about that simple fact, and youll never doubt that youre getting the best automotive service in southwest Michigan. They take the painful sting out of the second-most difficult exchange of goods and services known to man or woman: auto repairs. (First-most difficult: haircut.)On top of it all, theyre fun-loving. Theyre the Penn and Teller of auto repair (Greg is Teller), amusingly dispelling the illusion and trickery of what other shady mechanics do, or dont do.For the past three years, in addition to any repairs weve needed, weve also driven all the way from Bedford Township, 40 minutes one way, just to get our oil changed and visit with them. The better you get to know them, and the better they get to know your car, the more you come to realize youll never again need, or want, another mechanic.

I called for a quote on a valve job on a VW. They said it would be $1200 to $1500. Because the dealer had said $1500 to $1700 I thought I would save $200 to $300 dollars and they had good reviews. They said they needed the car for an exact quote. 5 days later they called trying to sell me a top end clean on the motor for $500, this was the 3rd time he had tried to sell me this service. On the 8th day he finally called to say the valve job would be $2350. Then they wanted to charge me a $50 diagnosis fee. Hands down the worst experience Ive ever had with an auto shop.

I wouldnt trust anyone else but Flying Dog to work on my 1958 Mercedes 190sl. Glad I found them. I would recommend them to any classic car owner.

The crew at FDG were awesome. I had to take my car in that was WAY overdue to have the timing belt and associated parts changed out. Being a single dad with 2 daughters, it was hard to fit into my schedule, or at least I thought it would be. They made it so much easier by providing a loaner car for me to use while they worked on mine. The prices to do the work were much lower than most other places, and the work was twice as good. Its hard to believe in the world we live in that you can still find a place that is honest, reasonable, and really wants to work with you. They love what they do and it shows. You have my business for life.UPDATE: Fast forward a year and a few months and the FDG has gotten a new office crew, and a new system for doing the billing and the experience was WAY worse. I went in to get a $6 part replaced, a tiny little o-ring that I just couldnt get to go in without breaking it. I told them what the problem was and what I wanted done. I got charged $112 out of a total bill of $245 as a diagnostics fee to determine that the o-ring was bad, after me telling them it was bad. I also asked for a price to replace the PCV system, and was told that would be $1200! Half for parts, half for the work. I looked and the OEM Volvo parts were only $320 at my price, so they are likely paying a bit less, and marking up massively. Work for this generally is 2 to 3 hours (2 average, 3 max). Thats $200 to $300 per hour for labor! (I have one on order from IPD Volvo for $220 on a Black Friday sale). Plus, they wanted to charge me $42 to replace 2 license plate bulbs that cost me about $4 to do myself in 5 minutes, and out of nowhere, they said my transmission needed re-sealing for over $1000. Ive never had a transmission issue, have no leaks, and have no indications of any kind that anything needs to be done at all with the transmission. I do most work myself, so Im not your average car owner, but Im getting to the age where I just dont want to spend the time doing things like that. This isnt the only Volvo I own and maintain, so I do happen to know quite a bit about them and how to determine when work needs to be done (and how to do the work). Now, the work they do is really top notch, but go in knowing what you are talking about, get EVERY cost in writing up front, and know when to say no to something they tell you needs to be done. If you have a car that is really not a do it yourself type project, like that classic Merc or Porche, or that BMW M5 or M3, they can do anything from the smallest thing, to a total engine rebuild, and do it very well. Just be very, very careful about the up front cost, and the add ons they apparently like to tell you that you need done now.
