There are a huge load of lovely people working there, making them top and generally created. The coffee is fine, within complex subject is eminent, and the food is splendid. Its an optimal spot to examine, finish some work or talk with friends. Expenses are still extraordinarily ferocious. Much obliged.
Easy place to find. The barista was very friendly, knew exactly what he was doing and the difference between the different coffee. I asked for some recommendations and I’m happy that I did because the coffee I ordered was delicious. I also bought one of their glass cups for a souvenir and it just looks so cute. Highly recommended!
Hands down best coffee in the heights. No frills coffee shop. Excellent light to medium roast coffees and beans. I brew my own at home freshly ground with their beans. Their lattes and espresso are also excellent. Really has such a fantastic flavor, not over-roasted and not bitter. Baristas are kind and knowledgeable. If you’re looking for a high-end coffee shop without the gimmicks and excellent coffee that isn’t pretentious, this is it. Every time I come here I am so pleased. Heads up, they do their latte measurements a little differently—they use espresso to milk ratio instead of S, M, L.Also don’t miss the almond croissant; it’s divine.
This is the best coffee you’re going to find, period. The staff is fun, the coffee is strong, and their roaster is super talented. You think you know coffee? Think again.
I ordered a 20oz chai iced tea with macadamia mylk and coconut sweetener and it paired perfectly with their delicious almond croissant (ask if it can be warmed). Price wise, it’s about 2x what I might spend at Dunkin Donuts for a similar order but trust me, your tastebuds and metabolism will thank you!The decor and ambiance remind me of a fusion between modern & boho chic with an urban twist. This def sets the vibes. Plus, the menu is laid out so cleanly and creatively (eg there’s a category for ‘mylk’ or nondairy alternatives). It was good to know that modcup is not exclusively a coffee shop and there are tea and pastry options. And I have to mention, although I didn’t catch their name, my barista had this funky, quirky energy that was awesome.I do wish they’d add some honey to their menu but overall, 🔥🔥🔥 coffee shop in Jersey City Heights.
Modcup is by far the best coffee roaster in New Jersey. No one comes close the the caliber of coffee they put out. SERIOUSLY!
Delicious coffee, amazing service, fair prices. You can tell they’re passionate about coffee and the whole coffee experience. Small place so you’ll likely have to queue outside.
This is a hip locally-owned neighborhood coffee joint located right across the street from Riverview-Fisk Park. They source green coffee beans from around the world and roast them locally adhering to their own roasting philosophy. The result is a unique and flavorful experience that many locals get to enjoy repeatedly. Modcup’s downtown location also features a cool-looking vintage Citroën H van circa 1970s. I hope to see it one day selling coffee around the park, maybe when the park and the farmers market open back up later this year?
Hands down my favorite coffee shop and the reason is because of the FLAVOR!1. They educate you on why and how coffee is supposed to taste2. They only serve FRESH coffee, no more than two weeks old3. They have many coffee bean options to choose from, to give you a variety of tastes that fit your mood. It’s just as vast as ordering wine4. Most importantly, you TASTE the flavor of every coffee. Sometimes citrus, sometimes chocolatey, and sometimes my favorite, a blueberry taste (cold brew kioto)
I gave a five-star rating to this coffee shop because of their impeccable service and affordable prices. Their coffees are all taste good and really satisfy my needs. The place is very comfy, they have fast and strong wi-fi connections and a lot of outlets for charging. I really love this place. Highly recommended!
Most of my friends are coffee lovers for it is our way to relax and calm our minds. If youre into reading while savoring a coffee, you could pick and read your favorite book to read.
Delicious. I wish they had more food options and a larger menu though. For being a straight up coffee bar, pretty good.
Great little joint more suitable for pick up. Their chai is home brewed and delicious. I had it without sugar and it was perfect. It can’t get any more cool than this little place. I can see why they have so many awesome reviews. Finding little joints like this is what going out is all about for me!
The mocha was ridiculously expensive and had absolutely no taste
Very friendly neighborhood coffee shop that even gave my little one a cup of milk for the road! Its across from a nice park with lots of shade to enjoy your caffeine in a socially responsible way.

5 years ago, finding this place helped me feel comfortable with the decision to move to Jersey City, and five year later its one reason Im sad to leave. For those that know truly good coffee, there is no other place to go in the area.
The coffee that they had was so delicious and not too strong. The cakes that they had were so delicious as well.
Staffs are so warmhearted very polite and super friendly. Comfy ambiance. Good customer service. Love to go back here again and again. I highly recommend it.Some of the employees are great and friendly, and some make me feel like it’s a “buy something or get out” for every hour I spend there.
Family neighborhood coffee shop that beats our Starbucks for me. Its delicious and im there at least 3 to 4 times a week
Delicious! Simple menu.
Beyond delicious coffee and treats and some of the most humble and kindest owners and staff you could ask for ! I highly recommend stopping in to say hello and grab a cup of coffee ☕
Great ambiance and a staff that knows about the product/coffee theyre selling. Definitely has a flavor for most of their coffees which is specific to the shop so you might have to adjust your normal order if youre trying it out for the first time. Strongly recommend if youre in the area
Modcup coffee company is a great place to get an amazing cup of coffee. Staffs are so warmhearted very polite and super friendly. Comfy ambiance. Good customer service. Love to go back here again and again. I highly recommend it.
Cool spot for a cup of coffee.Friendly barista 🙌🏻
The iced coffee is amazing. It’s very smooth but I do wish that there were larger sizes. Sometimes I need a giant iced coffee and the maximum size isn’t all too big.
Great tasting coffee, especially cold brew. Only 4 stars because they dont accept cash which discriminates against people who dont have a credit/debit card.
Three words.. OH MY God!! The best. The guy thats there every morning remembered my drink after I frequented the place. That warmed my heart! He sees me parking, I walk in and he already has what I need, every time! What a gem. Love this spot, the barista and the baked goods!
Hands down the BEST coffee Ive ever had. For me it is now a must and the ONLY coffee Ill drink. Thanks guys for the cup of perfection.
No menu, options not even mentioned on a boardMy coffee was not made well!
Excellent coffee and friendly service. Cozy vibe and the person serving was very informative. Definitely will be visiting again!
The coffee is great, but it’s hot or miss with service. Some of the employees are great and friendly, and some make me feel like it’s a “buy something or get out” for every hour I spend there.Today I had some meetings, and when a new shift member came in he guilted me into purchasing more, besides the coffee and pastry I already had on my table. To management: fix that one issue, and it’ll be a 5-star from me. I’ll even revise this review.
Definitely one of the best coffee places in the area! High quality coffee and goods, and always great service!
Quick and friendly neighborhood coffee shop. Definitely one of our go-to spots!
Im rating this place 4 stars. Ive been here before but only once and just came back again by change and it was amazing the first time and just as amazing this time! Got a hot quad breve and it was creamy, great flavor, and not harsh at all but very enjoyable. Friendly service
The barista is very friendly and has a great sense of humor. Cozy spot for a double shot of espresso.

If you want a real coffee, this is the place to go. Extremely friendly and knowledgable staff. Im picky about my coffee and this shop uses great quality beans and has their process nailed down. Small shop with a social atmosphere. Across the street from a park overlooking Manhattans skyline. Take a trip to the heights!
Hands down the best coffee in all of Jersey City!! They have the best beans, which translates into amazing coffee and cold brew. Its also a plus that the baristas ALWAYS make some latte art when they prepare lattes. Beyond amazing and Im always coming back for more!
Amazing coffee, and everyone is super friendly
This place is for true coffee fans. They make excellent coffee and I love their cold brew. They now carry underwest donuts but you have to get their early before they sell out.
Probably best coffee in the state
The BEST coffee shop around. If coffee is important to you then this is your place. Youll be serviced by educated baristas who actually love what they do. If youre like me and you desire that every cup of coffee be an experience, stop reading and just head over to the shop. You wont be disappointed, I guarantee it. 🙏🏼
Chris was a great barista. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful! Great coffee, too!
Really good coffee.... No really good
Heard a lot of good things about this place. Its very small with limited seating (not a place to sit and work on a laptop) and a limited menu, but the coffee tastes great. If it gets busy you could be waiting quite a bit for your order. Price is what youd expect for a trendy/modern coffee shop.
Lovely team working at Modcup. Love getting my coffee from them in the morning on my way in to work.
I usually drink coffee with cream and sugar.I come here whenever I can before work and drink their pour overs black. The coffee here is that damn good. All the guys working here are great and it has a very chill and welcoming vibe. (ie not coffee snobs)The guys wont preach about how great their beans are, but if you ask they are more happy to provide an in depth explanation of what you are drinking.Do yourself a favor and grab a pour over here when you can - then go across the street to the park and enjoy unobstructed views of Manhattan. You will not regret it!
Amazing coffee plus the staff are amazing! Highly Recommended!

This place was awesome. Super small but really cool atmosphere, right across the street from a cute park with a fantastic view of Manhattan. Great service, unique and delish options.
If youre into gourmet high-end coffee with a hip feel...this is the place. If you want REAL coffee from people who care, definitely stop by. Youll become a regular. Sub loves it.
Ive been looking for a truly good spot to get coffee for quite a while and after reading up much about Mod Cup and making the excursion to their jersey city location myself, I can truly say this little shop has fulfilled my longings. The staff is well educated and willing to talk coffee game and even teach you if time is willing. I sat down and had great conversations with the local coffee lover and they are just as happy as I. Overall I give Mod Cup a five star review and will definitely be venturing back. Big thanks to the owners and staff who continue to make having good coffee possible!!
Astoundingly good coffee, insanely lovely people
They are not very good with their recommendations. Seem to just want to push whatever is about to get stale.Pour over technique inadequate the last 3 times i had the misfortune of coming here
Great staff and such a cozy location. I always stop by on the weekends. Make sure you try the espresso, milk and chocolate (hot or cold) it is delicious.
Excellent milk drink and the Rwandan Espresso shot was out of this world. One of the few places in NJ that knows how coffee should be handled. In addition, the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing. Do yourself a favor and visit them.
I just love the coffee here! Its really well need and the cafe overlooks the park and Manhattan. Its a super sweet spot!
Best espresso I had here. The place is amazing and the patrons are great.
Local roaster who obviously cares much about the quality of the coffee he serves to his community. Try the cold brew, it will not disappoint. If you are a coffee aficionado, modcup should be high on your list of coffee shops to try in northern nj.
Fully met expectations of a urban coffee establishment. Service and coffee were great.
Very cute place, great coffee and service! Highly recommended!
Alas this will be the last time I will go to Mod. Id buy my beans there once a week and I love great coffee but the condescending attitude I received the last two times I went in -made the trip (and the coffee) not worth it. My friend who was visiting me from the city was shocked how rude the guy was. You would have thought I would have run into this issue in my 13 years in Brooklyn at coffeeshops, but no - not once. They seem to be saying welcome to jersey city, were trying too hard.
Perfect coffee. Tiny place with friendly staff.
I have made Modcup a major part of my routine since they opened the shop in early 2014. Wonderful people who have added a wealth of knowledge and coolness to my coffee experience! Check them out also at the Kitchen at Grove!
Love their coffees. Cold brew, espresso, and their very unique Iced Tee made from coffee cherries. AMAZING
Great coffee and friendly
One word: AWESOME! Ryan (the barista) accommodated a group of three of us after we showed up right as he was closing. Instead of rushing us, he proceeded by providing an education in coffee beans, the roasting process, and ModCups philosophy. Pour over coffee with only the best quality beans, do yourself a favor and just go.P.S. the view of the NYC city skyline from the shop is unmatched.
Very small. Dont be swayed by the tiny cafe, the coffee is spectacular. A must for those who want coffee on the go done right.
Good stuff. Needed to clear the pipes and it did just that. Know mean!?!? Gonna go back for the nitro come lunch time. When its a little hotter.
Pretty decent neighborhood small coffee stop for a differently tasting coffee. Went for a hot chocolate which turned out to be okayish.
Really good mushroom ravioli. The place is a hidden jem. It is on the expensive side but worth it for special occasions. The waitor paired our meal with good wine. Overall good ambience, service and food!
Great cup of regular coffee, will definitely be back to try out some of the other blends
Good spot to have a cup of coffee cold and hot.
Make one of the best Expresso in town, no question about it, place is a bit, but I rarely stay there.
My new favorite coffee joint! Baristas are so friendly, and informative. Best coffee spot in Jersey!!
Best coffee in Jersey City. Welcoming atmosphere. Teeny shop so dont plan on getting seat
Incredible exotic selection of beans roasted in Jersey City - Ethiopia, Rwanda, Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica, Bali.... brewed to perfection by nonjudgmental baristas who are cool dudes.
Best coffee in JC heights. Skim milk for cappucinos would be welcome.
Great trendy coffee shop really a great plus for the neighborhood
Very authentic brews with great, engaging staff. Pricey, but definitely worth it
