This Sears auto center is super, the oil changes are simple and very thorough. They never try to sell you anything they make you feel at home here. I can pull my car in and let them inspect everything well I shop in the store. I leave and theyre ready to go with keeping a record of the work so I go here for all my auto needs. I just love Sears truly a great American company please stay open we love you.

I had a terrible experience at this location. The supposedly Store manager African American extremely overweight without education, bad manners, with horrible hygiene bad breath was very unprofessional typical Newark or Jersey city resident was very very unpolite & aggressive. I definitely dont recommend this store. This is why they are closing all their stores due to the Lack of training & leadership to their employees. Hopefully you guys can read this.

They realigned my tires beautifully and very quickly plus you get a warranty with it! The car drives so smooth now, will definitely be back again! Can be a bit pricey though (around $90)

This place definitely deserves a 5 star. My car gave me a warning while driving and it’s about 6:50pm. I quickly checked the auto shop near me and arrive at 6:59 pm. (Store closes at 7). I explained to them that the car asks me to stop immediately. I was a little panic at that time.The front manager, Kingsley, is super super nice. He told me not to worry and checked my car immediately and the technician also worked late just to help me. I really appreciated it. These guys are really helping customers out.I will give a ten star if I can. Thank you !

I’m not understanding the reviews saying they don’t care about their customers. Came here on Sunday 1/19/20, and had a great experience.First person at the register was very helpful, I came for a new battery as my old one needed to be jumpstarted every time to drive the car. The sir checked my battery to make sure I actually needed it and explained why.He checked which size I needed then put in my order. Service was very fast by the mechanic, took him 40 min tops to get the new battery and replace it, and there were people before me.Unfortunately I’ve been having troubles with my tire/rims and as I was pulling out, my tire went completely flat.It was already 5pm closing time, so they had no obligation to take me in and help but they did. They brought in my car and did the best they could to fix up my tire and told me where I needed to go. Gave advice on what to do next. Mechanic George, stayed past to fix my car. Manager David was on duty. And if it weren’t for them two I’d be calling a tow. So seriously thank you.They do a great job here, would come back and would recommend.

Woke up to a dead car battery this morning. After a quick jump, I drove straight to the JC Sears Auto Center to replace - asst. manager David took care of me right away, gave me recommendations on the appropriate battery choice, and got me in and out and back on the road within 30 minutes. Excellent service, I’ll definitely be returning for my next oil change and maintenance.

This Sears Auto-center reminds me of days gone by where service and quality were always expected. Kingsley the manager is an amazing representative for the Sears brand. He always goes out of his way to make things easy for the customer and make sure the job is done right. Ive owned a lot of vehicles and been to many a garage. I was traveling from out of town and just beat the clock for an oil change, most places would have turned me away but asst. Manager David did my oil change and in record time. The professionalism and prompt service displayed was greatly appreciated!! Five star!

The staff here go above and beyond to help out their customers. My car needed several items fixed. They were able to replace my starter, replace the brakes and replace the tires in less than a day. I’ll definitely be returning for future service for my vehicle.

This Sears defenietly gets a five stars from me. My first experience here was great and I am certainly coming back. From when I entered the shop I was greeted and taken care of. I was giving am fairly accurate wait time and I was pleased with how professional all the guys were. All of my questions were and answered and I left with a better understand of what my car needed, without being reeled in to pay more money. They are sincerely honest folks and I tilt my hat to you guys. I will definitely refer anyone who asks for a good mechanic shop.

Be careful to leave your car at parking, they are waiting for you to leave your car and they are calling for tolling company. For sure they have deal with them. The sign regarding your car being tolled away is inside their office. Lol. Good job guys!!! Much appreciated!

For some reason it took 2 hrs for my car to go in for an oil change. I dropped it off and went shopping for a little bit 2 hrs later and it was still in the same spot. The guys at the front are pretty helpful when theres no one else to be helped. It takes about 30 min waiting in line to be able to speak to someone, and then an additional 3 hrs for an oil change. Only thing thats good is the actual service but having to wait on line for over 30 min just to ask a question sucks.

I needed to replace front breaks, which I did. A week later my car was making a horrible squeaking sound. Sounded like car was ready to fall apart. I took car back and they said nothing was wrong but i needed to replace tires. So I replaced front tires and coincidentally breaking noise was gone. 2 weeks later! Car sounded like it was ready to fall apart again. This time sound was coming from the wheel. It was so bad people in the street turned around to take a look. I had a feeling it was either a lazy or rushed job. So i took car to a mechanic in Kearny and indeed, mechanic confirmed that a plate that comes between tire and break wasnt tightened. This guy charged me nothing because it was something small caught on time but could have caused a lot of damage.

I came here for an alignment on my SUV on Tuesday & manager David helped me. We had bought a yearly alignment program, which is a great investment, especially for this are which is prone to potholes.This Sears Auto & the manager David is great!Please note: If you plan on coming to this place during the COVID-19, it is best to CALL AHEAD & MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.Also know the Newport Mall changed hours due to COVID-19, so if you want to walk the mall, while you wait for the call that your car is completed (which is usually a good idea), be sure to call ahead to the Mall for hours. I saw a few people come into the Auto Center annoyed that the Mall was closed due to having shorter hours (due to Covid-19).As for the AutoCenter - My husband and I have been here before many times and David always is very professional and courteous. Once again, a great experience! A+ service!

Was given an estimate to fix a few things on my car. Spoke on the phone with the manager and gave a detailed breakdown of what I needed done. He provided a ballpark estimate, since the car wasnt there in front of him... When I dropped my car off, the sales representative told me my total would be 80$ more than the original quoted price. $30-40, even $50, okay fine, but $80??? He also told me one of the things I needed done wasnt possible at that location....So wondering why the manager didnt tell me that? ....They also told me they would call for my approval after an assessment before doing any work. Well they didnt call and went ahead with the work anyway. Overall just typical auto center BS... they see a woman and think they can take advantage....My dad always swore by sears, so I trusted them...but next time Ill take my car elsewhere...

Stay away from this place. They are scammers. This sears used to be very good back in the days and would require appointments in advance to get your car looked at. Nowadays the parking lot is half empty and not that many people go here.I had been going to this sears for last 7-8 years and my entire family and friends go here for even little things like oil change. They have serviced over 10 cars between me, my family, and friends. These guys used to be very good in customer service.I just bought a pair of tires from here 2 weeks ago. When I bough it, the person selling me told me it had warranty and if anything goes wrong they will fix it for free. I got a nail in my tire 2 days ago and they went back on their words saying they stopped giving warranty since September.The manager on duty was also very rude when speaking to me. I not once raised my voice or caused a scene and the guy came speaking in loud tone with me like he is a doing a favor by speaking to me.They wanted to charge me $24 + tax to fix the flat. It takes 1 dollar plug to fix the tire. It would have taken them 5 minutes to fix it. I went when they were not even busy. They had 2 cars in the shop when I went.I have a lot of respect for the old gentlemen Robert who works there. In last many years that I have been going here not once have I seen him speak with anyone in a rude tone. The new folks need to learn from him in how to speak with customers and how to take care of them.In the end I went to local tire shop and he fixed it for 10 dollars. It took him a total of 2 minutes to take the tire off, put the plug in, and put the tire back on.

Since moving to Hoboken 6 years ago, it was hard to find a new reliable mechanic for our car. This place has been our go to since then. We recently had our car die and David (manager) was great in having us tow it in and diagnose it quickly. When we found out the damage, we decided to scramble and find a new car, but didn’t have anywhere to put the old since it wasn’t driveable. David and his team assured me not to worry and they could keep the car until we figured out where to have it towed. They are super helpful and friendly, pricing is reasonable and hours can’t be beat. We’ll continue going here for service with our new car!

I had 2 flat tires, which he got ordered (it was a custom order) in advance and got my car fixed and ready to go within a day. I am totally amazed by the quality of the service and turnaround time. I called and they said come over. I waited over 2 hrs to get service.They fixed 1 of my tires which had nail in it. Still forgot to fill air in other tires. When I told them the air light is on they said the meter is broken. I had to go to another station to fill air and the light was perfect. Never going there again.The website is liar too. I never got 20$ off coupon.

I happened to be in the area when my windshield wipers just started falling apart while I was driving and it was pouring rain. It was about 7am when I got to the shop. The tall gentlemen at the desk and the one who fixed it was very professional, courteous and quick. Did a great job, I was in and out within 20 minutes! I will definitely be going to them more often from now on.

I called the center and a young lady told me they already closed when there was still 10 mins before the closing time. She just wanted to leave soon and didnt want any customer coming in before they closed, which makes their business dishonest. I think the manager should give her a training about how to be a qualified receptionist.

My appointment was 1pm I was driving like crazy to get there before 1pm, I get there 12:55pm, they take care me at 1:15pm, 2:30pm I went back to see if they almost done and just what??? My car was parked in the same place where I parked and not new tires installed. I just cancelled my order and left. Thanks good there are many others places to buy

Stood in line for over 30 minutes just to drop-off my car for oil change. Writing this review from the line. This, after taking an appointment and arriving 5 minutes before time. After all of this, I was given 2 hour wait time to pick up!Edit : I’m pretty sure there is no supervision at this center. My car wasn’t ready even after 4 hours. I took my car back, and the representative didn’t even make an attempt to explain he delay. Never going back to this place. It’s in such a great location, I wish Sears pays attention and get this center’s act together!

Im a hard to please customer and I do my homework before and even when last minute shopping for anything. If you look up ineptitude in the dictionary you will find Sears Auto Center.I hit a pot hole and got 2 flat tires. I brought one in to Sears at 9:30 Saturday morning. They told me it would take an hour to install a new tire on the wheel. Two and a half hours later after screaming at them in the garage they finally did the work. They forgot to install the valve stem they charged me for and I had to wait for them the to do that as well. Additionally the kid doing the work had no idea what he was doing. He did not put my magnesium alloy wheel on the machine properly and it gauged the inside of it. Now besides taking forever I have a damaged wheel on my Mercedes.I need two additional tires. They were not in stock and the sales man said he would order them for Monday and call me in a couple of hours. At 4:00 I called and after being disconnected 3 times finally got through to them. He said it was not ordered, but he would do it right away. I called again a half hr later. After going through the same disconnects I got him on the phone and it was still not ordered.I demanded to speak with the store manager. He then put me on hold and ordered the tires.I am not ever going back. Who know how they will damage my car. They are inept and liars. I am stopping the charge due to the damage they did to the wheel.

My son and I were in for wrestlemania weekend and I got a flat tire on the way to the show. I managed to make it back to Jersey City and went to the only place that was open. I pulled in and saw a bunch of people ahead of me. I talked to Dave, he was the manager or assistant manager and he told me he was going to take care of us as soon as possible. Honestly, I thought I was going to be stuck there all day until closing time but they got me back on the road within an hour. I can’t begin to express how grateful we were. We didn’t miss any of the show and he was one of the nicest guys we ever met! Dave thank you for everything! You have no idea how much it meant to my son and I !

Absolute worst service you can ask for! Took whole day for an oil change. My work order was not processed completely but nobody cared to inform me until I picked my car. Nobody picks phone if you try to call them.Nobody calls you to tell that your car is ready for pick up. people on the counter are extremely slow. It takes forever to get an assistance from someone. There is no concept of client focus at this center. It was a real struggle!

If i could put zero stars I would! STAY AWAY!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE THEY DO AWFUL WORK!!!! I go in for an routine oil change on March 11, 2017 and I was told needed a new oil filter along with the oil change so I told them to do it. Less then a week later on March 18, 2017 I go and drive the car the cars engine starts to race and the oil light goes on. I immediately turn around and head home, as I am driving white smoke is starting to come from my engine. I get home and get out of my car, my parking space is full of oil and I look under the car and the oil filter is laying on the ground. I immediately called Sears and kept on calling until someone answered. I told them what happened they told me to drive it in I can not drive the car because there was no OIL in the engine it was all over the parking space. I call the next day and finally speak to the manager and he was all apologizing, I had to have my car towed to Sears so they can fix this miss. There is no excuse for this poor workmanship, even the manager agreed with me. I use to always bring my car to Sears for routine car maintenance, but after this experience Sears has lost a customer.

Im a regular here since moving to jersey city 2 years ago upon going to local auto service centers i cane to sears auto center and not only are prices competitive but the quality of labor and service you get above all these guys and gals spend the extra time with clients of necessary never leaving anyone in the dark about what they are doing to their carsI come all the time am always taken by the customer service upon the new Manager here mr King he really goes above and beyond remembering me and others by name as we come in and just feel so nice to come here the human element is very much so hereJust to note busy is always a good thing i have seen a few very few customers get a bit impatient knowing and seeing how busy they can get here but they do it in a very well organized and paced manner they never lie on the eta of work orders being completedKeep up the incredible work to the entire staff over there

Do not visit this Sears, they DO NOT care about their customers. I purchased a $1200 washer/dryer combo, subsequently returned to arrange for an alternate delivery date, and walked out 10 minutes later to find out my truck was towed and would cost me $260 to retrieve from a tow truck yard 15 minutes away.When asked why they towed me they said that the parking lot by the sears automotive part of the building is only for sears automotive customers, which doesn’t make any sense because it’s open to the rest of the sears store. They basically tow cars all day because people park where it says sears on the side of the building, then they get towed after shopping at the store after only a few minutes.I stood outside to watch what was going on and they had tow trucks just sitting there waiting for people to park there and walk past the automotive part of sears to tow them, even if they didn’t go into the rest of the mall. In other words, Sears is towing away their OWN customers.I will never shop at Sears ever again, which is a shame since I’ve been going there since I was a kid.All they have to do to avoid this is seal off the automotive part of the sears so that no one else gets taken advantage of with this shady scheme.

I had a bad experience. Had a nail wasted 2hrs for just a damn one nail. Mechanics are good and professional but the staff especially the supervisor is so unprofessional. I showed him to get the nail out and paying the damn money.he said oh its not leaking so we do we wana do it.I would never go to this place just because of him. Prices Are high too. Went into Sears Auto to get a flat fixed on my Porsche. The tire was damaged in the process (bubble in the side wall)Sears auto manager Mr Kingsley took complete ownership of the happening and his main priority was to get the issue fixed for me. I ordered a new tire which came in couple days later.. they reimbursed me for the amount paid and as a courtesy didnt charge me for the service. The process did take time couple hrs wait as there were others before me.. but the team worked overtime to get the tire on. Big shout out to the technical specialist Mena and the assistant manager David but Kingsleys work ethic will have me go back.Thank You!

I had a battery issue in which there was initially was a problem getting it swapped out for a new one. That is until the manager King stepped in and sorted it all out. The guy not only saved the day, but did so with a smile and sense of humor. Having customer service and retail experience myself, it was a breath of fresh air to have my situation handled with such professionalism.Dont be scared off with the bad reviews. Some people literally think that waters should part for them. Give this place a shot - you wont be let down!

I made an appointment for an oil change and even arrived early. After waiting ten minutes until someone came to the counter to help me, I was told my $19.99 oil change would actually cost $27.00. The woman at he counter told me my oil change would take 45 minutes to at most an hour. I came back after one hour and another worker told me they were still working on my car and it would be out soon. After and hour and a half of waiting, I asked again when my car would be done. They told me 15 more minutes (total of 1.5 hours). When I asked why I was told 45-60 minutes at the start, the Sears employee told me that he didnt know why the original worker told me that, with no further explanation. Overall took me TWO HOURS FOR AN OIL CHANGE. Also the vending machine doesnt take credit cards! Beware!

Every time I’ve been there, I’ve had to wait in line at least 30 min simply to either drop off or pick up my car. They also have a hard time following directions as to standard tire rotations. Why do I keep going back? Because they’re cheap.EDIT: I went today at 8am for an appointment, waited in line for 25 minutes, then gave up and left. Just tried calling them to tell them why I missed my appointment, but they’re not answering the phone. I’m done with this place.

Swapped my winter wheels on at short notice on a busy holiday weekday. Polite throughout and no damage to new or old alloys.Managed to lose a locking nut which will cost over $100 to replace and over pressurised all the tyres, not just above recommended values, but over maximum for the car.Didnt know till on the freeway for a 250 mile trip due to TPMS (fire pressure monitoring system in the car) taking a while to learn new sensors.All in all; lost a thing, didnt take responsibility for it, and left car in potentially dangerous condition

I waited an hour on line to ask for an oil change. The work took 3.5 hours (fair enough, I didnt have an appointment). Then they wouldnt tell me where the car was - they said, just walk around the lot and click your key (it was dark). The car was at the far end of a huge, mostly empty lot. Would not go back.

The worst experience in my life. An oil change takes 10 minutes, they tell me that it will take 3 hours before i recieve it. 3 hours later they havent even started. They take 20 minutes to do the oil change. Then 5 more minutes to give me my car. Worst car service and worst customer experience ever. Never coming back again.

Customer service desk arent even there to help you when you arrive, Ive actually seen an older white male flirt with 2 older ladies while was there and had to wait til he was done flirting giving them useless info even though they both felt uncomfortable.Plus they also didnt give me car a wheel alignment after 2 hours of the waiting time they told me they were gonna be done in! They said the y out the car in 2 hours after I came in! Couldve saved me 2 hours if they wouldve been a bit more professional and checked as soon as I got there and when I did they said I had suspension problems and couldnt do my alignment! The worst

4 1/2 hours to get a tire changed even though I had an appointment. It wasnt that the people at the front desk were rude, they just took FOREVER to confirm information. If you come here, make sure you have a half day to kill.

If I could give it a zero rating I would. Go in for an appointment at 8 am on a Saturday for an Oil Change. Im told its going to be at least two hours. They have 7 appointments for 8 and only 3 technicians. Says it takes at least 45 minutes to do an oil change (I went to Valvoline and was in and done in less than 30 minutes without an appointment). was told 3 different stories about how many people were ahead of me and how long it would be. Supposedly it would take more than two hours and the three people in front of me were getting the following done (4 tires) (Oil Change) and (1 tire). How does that lead to a 2 hour wait with an appointment? Oil changes take 10-30 minutes, 4 tires takes an hour, 1 tire takes 15 minutes. What the heck? Also came to realize that at least one of the people ahead of me was an employee on the clock. And why have two girls at the front desk,yet only 3 technicians? And what happened to diversity at this location? TERRIBLE, STAY FAR AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The woman behind the counter helped me to get a windshield wiper and it was the wrong wiper. Im glad I didnt open the wiper and try to put it on myself. I asked one of the mechanics to help me and he was like this is the wrong wiper. They dont even have the wiper I need in stock. The counter service isnt competent. She sold me the wiper promising me it was the correct wiper. 45 mins wasted for nothing.

I went and purchased tires from them. The prices was the only reason. They fixed my balance to only have it mess up 2 months later, A month after getting the tires one of them has a flat, I took it there 3 times to get it fixed and they insisted it was the rim, yet I never had an issue before with the old tires. I go this past weekend to get balance fix and rotate my tires. Tires are rotated, however the balance was never fixed and not the tire that was supposedly fixed the last time is now leaking air. Never again will I go back there. You sit there for hours waiting and still the job does not get done.

I had the WORST EXPERIENCE WITH SEARS AUTO,I bought my Infiniti to have all four tires changed to new ones and they damage all my rims all in the same place, scratched. As soon I noticed this I spoke to the guy who took care of me, and he didnt even care.I asked to speak to the manager and he didnt care either, he said that it wasnt them and he wasnt going to fix anything. After telling them i was going to call a lawyer, I was contacted by their claims department, they ask me to send them pictures and two quotes, and after all that without even notice the rep said that the damage wasnt caused by them and they wouldnt pay for anything to fix it, but the claims department never ask for me to bring the car to them to see it. This people have the worst costumer service I have seen, please dont bring your car here DONT BE ANOTHER VICTIM LIKE ME BELIEVE THE RATINGS THEY DONT LIE.

Worst experience. First Customer in the morning and lady said its 8 hour waiting due to triple booked appointment. I was there on 11/22 around 1 pm and 11/23 7.30 in the morning both time I had to go back home. The African American lady was helping customers both time. She was literally wanted to avoids customers. On 11/22 she said its long waiting come another day. Second day I was there first in the morning and she said we are triple booked so you will get ur car after 3pm which is like 8hr wait just for oil change. First of all sears dont take even double appointments, their online booking dont allow you to do double or triple appointments. I am not going to come this place again unless sears hire batter employees. Waste of time to even go there.

I called to ask if the lady could help me make an appointment and she said hold on.I hold for 17 minutes and no body respond then she just hang up my phone...Before that I asked if she can quick check if they have certain type of tire. BEST SERVICE IVE EVER RECEIVED! THANK YOU KING!!!I was headed on a family vacation the Thursday before Memorial Day Weekend, but my wife & Daughter had a quick appointment in NYC. We got a flat tire from a huge pothole on RT 78 headed towards the Holland Tunnel. I pulled over, put my wife & Daughter in an Uber into the city, and then put the spare tire on. I could not drive 2.5 hrs to my destination with a doughnut spare tire. I needed to have a new tire put on as quickly as possible. Luckily, there was a Sears Auto Center in the Newport Mall in Jersey City only a few minutes from where I changed the tire. The gentlemans name who took care of me was King. King was THE KING that day. He was super helpful and super nice. He had my car in the garage and on a lift within 20 minutes. He first checked to see if the tire could be fixed before offering me a new tire, but the side wall of the tire had a huge hole. So he said I would need a new tire and showed me where in the mall I could grab a bite to eat while they finished the repair. They finished the repair in about 30 minutes. The entire process took about an hour and I could not believe how inexpensive it was. I drive an Audi A6 and unfortunately, nothing is ever inexpensive with that car. It was such a pleasant experience for something I thought would be a nightmare. I thought for sure we would be stuck locally for the night while the tire was being fixed. My wife and daughter pulled up in an Uber shortly after the repair was complete and we headed to our vacation with zero lost time.King and the team at Sears were amazing. I cant thank them enough for their great service. I thought customer service was dead in this country, but I was proven wrong that day for sure!

This place is awful, the staff doesnt care to help anyone, theres been a couple of people (Keith and King) came by and not help the people on line. It has so far taken the guy 40 minutes to take in one customer and theres another person in front of me. I would not be here if I had another option for somewhere local to patch my tire.My advice for the person reading this, go somewhere else. Theres no reason to give your money to a place that doesnt value your time. Drive in your rims for that extra 5 miles to get your work done on your car.

Double check the auto service you get because my car overheated and wont accelerate after their maintenance service. They FORGOT TO REFILL COOLANT!!!! My car got damaged.I brought my car here for silver maintenance package. Saturday night I picked it up, the ac for some reason is very warm and felt some weirdness in the gas, but i was driving local so I didnt realize yet what was happening that same night until the next day, I am heading to the city, as I merged the highway, I realized I couldnt accelerate and the car coming from the highway honked continuously and swerved and I also tried to avoid but couldnt accelerate--It was one of the scariest road moments of my life. By the time, my car was still really blasting hot air while the AC is blasted. Then when I checked the dashboard, the overheat icon was flashing. I got my car towed--guess what, they forgot the to put back the coolant in after they flushed it. Tried to call sears auto that same day.Getting a hold of Sears was difficult, nobody literally picks up that phone they advertised on the work order. Had to call tools dept. to ask them to give me a call back because it is an emergency. Took 3 hours before asst mgr called me back. He said he was busy helping customers.My experience is a nightmare. My Sunday afternoon just wasted, i cant even get a rental car cause every rental establishments have closed. Asst mgr promised the manager will call me tomorrow. The next afternoon, I am at work, the Sears auto manager still havent called, and again, I have to step out of work to call tools dept to have auto svc manager call me. The next day, I was supposed to hear back from their claims, again, havent heard back--so I had to call tools dept again! to have manager call me back and give me updates.Today, its been 15 days since my car has been stored at a dealership waiting for repair, because it still not started. Their claims is also very slow, have to remind them every now and then and is difficult to reach.I still dont have my car back because repairs wasnt started yet by claims. My precious time, resources, and energy have been wasted because of this Sears auto centers negligence and breach of duty. Dont come here, they dont care about customers. Terrible experience!!!

Unprofessional. Highly Incompetent. Leave you worse than what you start with. Tire pressure in my BMW would go down over a couple of weeks. They took it apart and returned me a vehicle with a completely flat tire, telling me they cant fix it because its run-flat and have no idea about a replacement. Why mess with it when you cant fix it? Left me with an undrivable vehicle with no option but to leave everything I have to do and go to the dealer.

This place is god awful! I BEG YOU DO NOT GO HERE!! Went to get my brakes fixed and since Ive let them touch my car Ive experienced nothing but problems with my brakes. Ive already been to the auto center 3 times in the past week for something they claimed they fixed Ill be going back again for a 4th time because my car is worst than when it came in. The brakes they claimed they fixed now smoke up when I press them and theres a burning smell.

I am so surprised to see so many bad ratings. The management and associates at Jersey City Newport Mall Sears Center are amazing - friendly, proficient at what they do and quick. Mr King is the manager and he came over personally to check on me and genuinely cared to give the best service.I drive a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, and as you may be aware, Hybrids are a little more complex than regular cars. Dealers as well as third party providers (e.g., Pepboys, JiffyLube) often charge a surcharge for Hybrid cars. Not here at Sears! They honored their advertised coupons, and provided me the most suitable options for my service. I ended up getting my service at half the cost I would have paid at Hyundai dealer (and I would have spent twice the time!)My sign in was processed by Richard & Keith - who after determining that it is my first visit - used my Licence Plate and VIN information to suggest suitable service options for my car. Hector did the actual service (inspection, oil change and tire rotation) and it was completed in less time (54 minutes) than promised (90 minutes). They indicated things that I can address in the next service and didnt try to sell extra services. You can tell how good a service shop is by seeing how clean and organized it is and Sears has nothing to hide - As you park your car and enter, you can see the entire shop and how well maintained, organized and clean it is. They listen to you and take care of your special requests. For example, I asked for and they saved the old filter on my, so I could see the make and model used at the last service. Also, SEARS updates CAR FAX! When you finally go to sell your car, youd know how important that is - as this indicates to a potential buyer how well you serviced and cared for your car.So in conclusion, I would say, dont care too much for the negative reviews and try for yourself. People may have had bad experience maybe with the old management, but with leadership like Mr. King, and staff like Keith, Richard and Hector - you will be well taken care of.As an added advantage, they are attached to the Sears/Main Mall, so while at most dealership - youd watch TV or get bored while waiting for your car to be serviced - here you could do shopping, go get coffee etc. Once the car is ready you get a text message and you can go back.
