The staff at Pauls Auto & Tire always put the customer first. Great shop, very clean inside, gives you that home feeling. Such a great feeling, as a single woman, not to be taken advantage of!!!I originally brought my car to the dealership automotive department and they gave me a HUGE estimate and said I needed my entire side door replaced, amongst other things.My neighbor recommended I bring my SUV to Paul’s Auto in Inver Grove Heights. SO glad I did! They fixed my door at no charge and fixed a lot of other things at a very reasonable price. I have been using them ever since! Highly recommend!!

Great service from both Stephen on the front end and Aaron who did the work on my car. They were even able to do the job on a days notice and fit me in right away. They were great explaining issues and never made me feel pressured in my decision. What they said was wrong, wasnt the real issue. The control arm up front where I thought the noise to be was the issue. They told me it was the rear sway link bars. They were making a little rattle but the kerchunk was up front like I told them. My neighbor is a mechanic and mentioned that sometimes some shops will say things to get out of a job that seems not worth it. It is a rusty truck and stuff needs to be heated up to break loose but still. Be straight with me. They did an alignment which was needed since I replaced the ball joints but it will have to be aligned again after I fix the actual problem. So yup that was a waste of money. Other than that they seemed like nice people. This was the first time bringing a vehicle there so I may give Pauls another try. Nobody is perfect and it very well could have been an honest mistake. I should have gone with my gut and not had them do the alignment until the real problem was fixed.

These guys know what they are doing and made sure car was dealt with right away. They called me and notified me of the problem, they finished in less than a day and didnt break the bank, I had another electrical problem the next day unrelated and diagnosed it and didnt even charge me. Really nice guys there would recommend and will make it my go to auto repair shop

I have been to Pauls Auto & Tire several times since moving to this area a few months ago, and I have been very pleased with the efficient and quality service that I have received. The maintenance that I have seeked has ranged from a headlight replacement all the way up to an issue with the starter on my Honda CRV, which required me to be towed over. Pauls Auto has been able to come through for me each time that my vehicle has been serviced there, and they have been able to do so in a timely manner and with friendly service.Stephen is a friendly and knowledgeable service provider who has given me the impression that he intends to be honest about the service needs of a vehicle without pushing for a service that is uneccessary. Just needed a quick and easy repair that I didn’t have the tools for. Paul’s did the job and did it for a fair price. I’m not accustomed to not being ripped off. A pleasant surprise and why I’m taking the time to give a good review and I’ll also pass it on via word of mouth.

Got it quick, service was great and team was super friendly

I only went there for an oil change. I said after I paid for the oil change if they saw anything that would cause the car to smell like it was burning. They saw something and fixed it but didnt charge me for it. Someone had used zipstipt something on a cover and they fixed it with screws the way it was supposed to be. Now the car runs really quiet and didnt have a burning smell.

The people there are super nice. A $1500 quote I got from them is a lot more than the $660 at another shop. For convenience and for how personable they are, I would prefer Paul’s. But I literally can’t afford them.

Not trustworthy at all. Years ago this was a good mechanic shop, but there must be new owners or management. They took twice as long as they should have and filled my radiator will water instead of coolant. I checked the coolant level after they worked on it, and it looked clear like water. I checked it again a few days later and it had evaporated so much I couldnt get to it with a simple coolant testing kit. I properly filled the radiator with coolant myself and havent had any issues since.

Outstanding experience with Pauls Auto! I received a call with a detailed explanation on what needed to be repaired in order for the AC to get back up and running. Along with, an estimate of what it was going to cost. Once I gave the go ahead, my car was ready for pick up the same day. Very reasonably priced. Will be going to Pauls Auto again should my car need more repairs in the future. Thanks for a great experience!

Ive taken my car here a few times now, and couldnt be happier. Prices were fair and the guys at the shop were professional, thorough and very kind. Ive recommended Pauls Auto to many others and will continue to do so. Great place!!

Pauls has gone completely downhill. Went to have my AC fixed. Charged me 85 dollars to plug the power supply to the compressor. Went again when my battery light came on. First they told me I needed a new battery, then told me I didnt because they tested it from the remote terminals under the hood instead of at the actual battery under the passenger seat. They then told me I needed an alternator. They replaced the alternator for 900 dollars. Apparently the alternator cost 700 dollars. I looked online, and the top of the line alternator is 400.They told me the expense was due to the warranty they provide. BS I think. Ok, they told me the battery light would no longer come on. A block after leaving the battery light came on. I called them back and they rudely said they would look at it. I had a guy at work look at it. Apparently the remote positive terminal was loose and the tech at Pauls didnt replace the rubber cover, causing arcing in the engine compartment. I will never go back to Pauls and will discourage my family and friends from doing the same. If I could give them zero stars I would. I probably never needed an alternator. Jerks. The response from the owner is complete bs. The charge for installation was 200 dollars. The alternator was 700 dollars. I paid for installation. As far as the mechanic leaving the remote positive terminal loose and uncovered is completely inexcusable. That could have caused an explosion or fire in the engine compartment.

Went there to have 2 belts replaced. Next few days I was driving an both of them just fell off which only means whoever did the service didn’t care to much to put the right tension. But I didn’t think to much of it so a few months later I bring my car in for brakes an I asked for all my brakes to be replaced An all the materials to do so where placed in my car an they only put the back brakes in when I asked for all 4 an then 2 weeks after that my brake pads start making noise(Mental on metal noise) so I don’t know if it’s just bad luck or if the guys over at Paul’s don’t care about customers

Great place, good people and they do the work. Also understand its a local/small business, but they will give you the most expensive products without consulting you or your consent and then youre stuck with a huge bill when couldve been ALOT cheaper and in my price range.(update 3months later): called ahead of time and waited at the shop the entire time. when told it was pretty expense and didn’t expect this when looked it up, got the response “coulda used a more expensive one too”..

I received above excellent & trustworthy service here for 15 years, but under the new ownership that has become a thing of the past. Tried to schedule an AC check and was told that due to the mechanics trying to do too many things at one time and grabbing the wrong tickets there was no way to schedule an actual mechanical service time. I was also told the only guaranteed scheduling available is when getting tired done. So long Pauls....

My friend, Ann McNaughton first visit was on: 10/26/19 .. Her 2008 Kias hood latch was broken & her check engine light was on ... She is a senior person on limited income, & Pauls auto identified both problems! She was told by another place that they would have to disassemble the hole hood & would cost her a lot $$$ (she walked out) Pauls auto have very honest people 👍.. the hood latch was rusted out, and engine light was on because the last time she got gasoline she left the the key in position for husband to listen to radio.. They told her to turn the key totally off when filling gasoline, otherwise it causes a vapor. and that is why her light was on...... They also did a diagnosis. ....... they changed her oil & filter... She returned on 11 - 1-19 to have new hood latch installed & check fluids ..... She definitely will have Pauls work on her car from here on out...... Highly-qualified, Honest, Experts...... She thanks you very much!

I just moved to the area and chose Pauls based on its positive reviews on Google, and I was not disappointed. I called because my new (used) car with brand new tires had a flat. He actually drove to my home (about a mile from the shop) with an air tank and aired up the tire so I could drive it to his shop, avoiding a tow. They then inspected the tire, fixed the damage, and sent me on my way in less than an hour--all for an EXTREMELY reasonable price (they didnt even charge me for the house call!). Im so happy I finally found an honest, trustworthy, and reasonably priced auto mechanic in the Twin Cities!

My family has had our cars fixed here and the service has been quick and decent. They aren’t exactly affordable and when I brought my older car here, they weren’t exactly helpful or quick about it. Wouldn’t come back to the shop especially with anything European but I think overall they’re ok.

One reason I love this place is the mechanic Nate he is a great guy and a gifted mechanic. He makes me feel at ease and I have learned that I can trust his work as top of the line.

I know very little about cars and Pauls could be taking advantage of me, but they either are not or are very bad at it. They could have told me I needed a new oil pan to fix my leak and I would have believed them, but instead they wanted to try a bigger screwy doodad... gasket maybe, which did the trick. Total for the leak, an oil change, the doodad and the labor: $60. If I could give more than five stars, I would.

I had came got my car fixed here before water pump did it really fast. I had to bring my car back up because it started to overheating when I got down the road. That normal which I understood. So I can back up here today to see how much it would cost for me to get something done and he couldn’t even give me a price. Even after I told him my vehicle has been here still didn’t give me a price. That is sad to say. I know everything vehicle not the same but you could look it up for me in your computer and give me a price to see if I can afford to get it fixed this week. All I am saying

Paul is exactly what car mechanics should be. Knowledgeable, honest, fairly priced. Ive been going to Pauls for a long time and Ive never been shocked by the prices. Never up sold. Always received honest assessments, even if it meant less sales for him.We just had the timing belt replaced on our Pilot. Fair price as usual. Well after about 100 miles we hear a clunk, battery light comes on and it got super hard to turn. Left it at the store where we were parked. Next day, called the mechanic right across the street from the clunk site. They, also a great place Zaks in West Saint Paul, towed it over and had a look. Tension assembly bolt sheared off and the serpentine belt come off. 600.00 quote from Zaks. We call Paul and let him know what happened, slightly worried that wed get the response most places would give us, the run around. None of that. No hesitation. He sends his tow to bring it back to his place and takes care of it same day, no questions asked. One question actually, if the other place charges for anything, hes covering that too. That is a stand up mechanic and a stand up guy.

I was initially excited about taking my 2004 Lexus to Pauls to have my door lock fixed. Fee for diagnosis at Pauls is $65. I went online to research what the door lock problem might be,, listened for actuator motor (good indicator of failure) when i hit fob and,nothing. Based on research, I was pretty sure it was the door actuator, and relayed that to service rep. The rep at Pauls said it could be a lot of things and needed to check. $65 later, it was the actuator. I watched someone on You tube replace an actuator on same car as mine, and it took 20 minutes.Pauls rep quoted time a 1.85 hours. Pauls did not offer an online Lexus OEM part alternative part for a fraction of the price of a Lexus direct OEM part ( $125 online vs $471 Pauls price). Thank God for the internet.The Pauls Automotives of the world are getting caught red handed failing to provide the lowest cost alternative for repairs. If I had not done my research first, I would have paid way too much for the repair.I brought this discrepancy to the Pauls reps attention, and he could of cared less. It was a take or leave it attitude. I paid the $65 for nothing. I will never go back to Pauls Automotive. I encourage everyone to do their research before going in for any repairs. I am going to another service station and getting the lock repaired for a fraction 1/3 of the $777 Pauls quoted. Buyer beware!

I just had the best experience here at Pauls. A mechanic named Nate made time out of his busy work day to check my overheating van. As a nanny and a one car family, we NEED our vehicle to work properly but we have a very low income. He found the source of our problem by double checking and going the extra mile. Instead of a $400 dollar bill, it went down to $30. We are now lifelong customers and will be coming back in a week or two to get our front brakes worked on. Thank you Nate and Pauls for taking care of my family.

Great Service and a great price. Extremely trustworthy and willing to make sure the customer is happy. Recently had my car in there and they had a little slip up and accidentally punctured my gas tank with a drill. They let me know right away and not only did they fix the puncture and not charge me for it. they also didnt charge me for the additional services I had brought the car in for too. They were extremely appologetic but becaue of their great service and trustworthyness they need not worry becasue Ill be back for sure. Ive never had any other experiences with them having caused additional issues so I knew it was purely an accident and not common and they couldnt have handled it better. I would recommend anyone to go there for service.
