These guys are the best! Trustworthy & Reliable. Our son has one of our cars in Chicago and he went in to get an oil change. He was massively overcharged for the oil change AND the garage told him needed his brakes fixed/replaced. My son called me and my wife and we told him to bring it home because we did not trust that assessment. WE TRUST these guys at this AAMCO. Sure enough the brakes were fine with 70% left on front and practically new on the back. They did not charge for the assessment. All we paid was $10 for a new batter for our key fab! These guys have been our 2nd opinion numerous times and saved us at least hundreds of dollars - probably more!

Has to bring my brother car to this location due to the transmission going out on his car. They diagnosed the problem in a timely manner. Once it was discovered the car needed a new transmission they were very honest in telling us that a new transmission or even a used one was going to cost significantly more than the car was worth. I Initially wrote a bad review about AAMCO, which is beneath everything I’m getting ready to say. I will say, anytime I deal with AAMCO I will be requesting Dwayne. His customer service is top notch. My experience went left once the ball was passed from Dwayne. I would also like to acknowledge the owner, Nick Deem. After addressing all of my concerns, he was more than wiling to do whatever he could to keep my business. Once I picked up my vehicle, Dwayne COURTEOUSLY explained everything that was wrong with my vehicle. I had to apologize to Dwayne, because he was GREAT from the time he answered the phone, to the time I left the shop. All I will say is; the original price I was quoted made me turn my back with no questions. Especially with the bad experience I initially had. But, by the time I got home, I received a phone call with an offer from Dwayne and Mr. Deem, that is going to make me return and spend my money at there establishment. I APPRECIATE YOU DWAYNE, and I APPRECIATE YOU MR. DEEM!!!*******PAST REVIEW******I won’t ever go to AAMCO again! Someone recommended Edwards Transmission to me, and I should’ve listened! But, after I read all the good reviews from previous customers regarding AAMCO, I thought it would be a good idea to give them a try. Dropped my ladies car off Thursday morning at 8am for a DIAGNOSTIC, and was told I’d be called later in the day. I, MYSELF, had to call later in the day at 4:30pm, and was told by Dwayne that he’d have estimates in the morning. 2:30pm rolls around Friday afternoon, and no one EVER called. So I called and spoke with Dave, and was told I’d be called back in 45 minutes with a price break down. I NEVER received a call back from Dave. It’s now 5:20pm on Friday, they close at 5:30pm, and no one is answering the phone.The business is closed Saturday and Sunday, so now my vehicle has to sit ALL WEEKEND, and I STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR! They could’ve at least been convenient enough to inform me my ladies car will be in the shop all weekend. She has a job too, and now I have to sort out transportation for her because of the horrible service this establishment provided. I won’t recommend ANY ONE, EVER to this establishment.... EVER.

Having an older model Jeep and a newer model Jeep they perform excellent service every time we bring our vehicles to get serviced. I can only entrust them to work on our Jeeps versus taking it to the dealership, where its double the cost for the same quality of work if not better. This last visit until the older model Jeep not starting he got it towed for us the very next day and had it back to us within a few days. Due to the shop being so popular it does take a couple of days to get your vehicle looked at but thats expected anywhere you go in the city. So overall he always exceeds the expectations thank you Dwayne.

My experience with aamco has been up and down. More down then up. Dewayne was nice and polite in person and during phone conversations. This helped me feel comfortable dealing with AAMCO. Once my vehicle was ready. The problem(s) were still present. I was told excuses to why the vehicle wasnt running. Resulting in me still having to pay for the service that was not complete on my truck. I know they are capable of good work, just not willing. I recently took my vehicle to another transmission shop, thus finding out more issues that werent resolved from AAMCO, in regards to the transmission. The new shop fixed it and I havent had any issues, but again I had to pay for a service again that should have been fixed.

Charged for unauthorized work. Was told one Max price the job would be or less but had to pay $275 More to get truck back and company wouldnt adjust. Had vehicle for over a month and when they returned truck all of a sudden my driver window wouldnt work and they wanted to charge me to fix. I was also unable to shift into gear any longer which wasnt an issue when truck was dropped off which they did fix and credit the charge like it was my fault. They are bad at communicating as I had to continously call they for updates so dont expect a call back/follow up.

Had trouble with my car on the way to work yesterday. Called in and spoke with Dave. They got me in as quickly as possible and gave me a possible solution by the end of the day. Really appreciate their help!

Sent in my fiat 500 abarth with a busted shift linkage. Once the part came in my car was ready within two days, and they even threw in an oil change at a reduced cost. The oil change also was remarkably quick considering my car needed a specific fuel filter that had to be ordered. Dave in particular was remarkable and stayed in contact with me throughout the process of getting my car fixed. Give this guy a raise!

Dealership told me I needed a new transmission, brought it here and am told it only needs a flush.... I mean come on how could you not love them! The entire process was painless as well. To be honest I only ever spoke to anyone on the phone, and it was superb service

Ive used AAMCO transmission on Michigan Rd several times over the past 20 years. Most recently 4wd repair on my F150 and some minor under body work on my HHR. Taking my wife Taurus for some needed attention next week. Why? Im glad you asked. Finding a trustworthy, competent, full service no BS auto repair is one of the most important services needed in everyday life. This AAMCO exceeds those expectations.

This was the best experience I have had with a mechanic shop! These men are more than great mechanics they are great people. They listened to my issue and helped me. I was a person not a commission. Me and my car are better after this visit.

Needed to get my transmission Flushed Came in at 8 am And was done by 330pm Not bad at all and the pricing was straightforward. Loved that you get Up to date calls on the car and how far everything comes along. Very professional and true Group of wholesome guys to get the job done.

The gentlemen at aamco are very nice and professional. They have serviced my car many times and Ive never had an issue. 2 transmissions (different vehicles), brakes.. oil changes theyve done it all. They even remodeled the waiting area and it looks great!! + good music 🙂 I recommend them any time.

Dwayne tried telling me the ECU was bad because I put in an aftermarket radio. He said, Your car doesnt know what gear its in but its clearly displayed by the speedometer and will drive although the transmission is slipping. I took it there because it was cheaper to get diagnosed, and it was only $75 to tow it because they work with Lawrence Towing.Not sure how they have all these good reviews, but I think its common sense that the radio wiring has nothing to do with the ECU (Engine control unit). Ill also note that I dropped it off yesterday morning, and he told me itd be 3 hours to diagnose, and he still didnt have an answer at midday today. Unless you know an honest mechanic, Id just take it to the dealer. It might be more expensive, but youll avoid dealing with mediocracy.

UPDATE:The owner and I had a conversation in which he was very concerned that I had to pay for something that was not originally quoted, and sent me a refund of what I was over charged. BUT he also sent me a very nice card and donated to a charity that I love after a short conversation of getting to know me a little bit. I would absolutely do business with Nick again as he obviously cares about his customers. Thank you!I brought my vehicle here to have the transmission replaced. In the process of taking out the transmission the axle was broken. AFTER the axle was broken I received a phone call explaining that happens sometimes and I was going to be charged for the part to replace it. I was never told that this was a risk. I should have been notified before hand of the risk and that I would be expected to pay for the damage should it happen. The only compensation I received was not being charged for the labor. I did not leave happy as this was their mistake that I had to pay for.

Had it towed to them through their preferred tow company. The tow went great, dont remember the name of the tow company but the man taught/helped my son pull some levers to raise and lower my minivan. My kid was ecstatic. They got my estimate and diagnosis back for my vans repair, which before they took everything apart was the rear differential for a tune of a few thousand dollars. Once the differential arrived, they found the problem was actually a different part of the axle. Only came out to 700 and it was fixed same day. I will take my vehicles here in the future.

Personable, quick work done, and a good price

I would highly recommend this shop. There is aong story here, but they fixed something another shop caused, for less than 1/3 of what the first shop wanted to replace a whole transmission.

These guys are amazing. My truck sat at a Chevy dealer for 3 days after my transmission went out coming through town on my way back to Iowa. After getting quoted an outrageous number at the dealership, I called and spoke with Dwayne. He had my truck in there and transmission rebuilt in less than 2 days for nearly half the cost of the dealer. Without a doubt, go here!!

Of course my 15 year old 4Runner broke down just days before vacation. Pulled into AAMCO explained to Dwayne what noise it was making and in less then 24 hours they had the diagnosis. Since my vehicle is old and has over 200K miles on it Dwayne gave me options and did not push me to get her fixed. Dwayne kept me updated during the process, and not only did I have them fix the Drive Shaft, but I ended up having them change the transmission fluid, and fix my front brakes. Kudos to the Mechanics for putting.life back into my baby!!!

Glad to have transmission serviced within tome quoted, but thrilled they found the coolant leak. I hadn’t even asked them about it and they told me what the problem was!

I took my sons 2006 Infinity here having transmission fluid leak. In addition to repairing the leak that turned out to be a corroded pan replacement and gasket I decided to have the wheel bearings replaced as they were in bad condition. Dwayne and the guys here were very good to work with and aside from having to come back to follow-up a leak they took care of it. Fair price and do more than just transmission work.

Great service for a good price. Helped us out of a bind with Andy Mohrs horrible service or lack of. Would definitely recommend. Didnt give all 5 cause the place is a little ran down and kind of a stale attitude but my boss wasnt the nicest to them on the phone either so I get it.

This is the second time I’ve used this AAMCO location for a major repair – the first was my transmission and most recently my air conditioning system had to be replaced on my 2005 Expedition. Such a hassle-free, easy experience. Had problem arise Sunday night, called Monday morning, got the rotors and brake pads fixed that day and saw they had also fixed a light that was disconnected for me free-of-charge! I dropped my brand new car off to them and they were very nice. They listened to my frustrations about why the dealership I bought this new car from was needing to handle my situation since the car was less than 30 days old and already in need of repairs. Since I was going through warranty they were only running diagnostics but seemed to find more underlying issues holding up the process. Then we hit the snag of they had been calling the wrong phone number trying to reach me when I had been waiting for nearly a week and a half for a response. I tried to trust the process and allow them to do their work without bugging them. Ultimately when I decided I should call and check in they completely updated me with everything they had been needing to say and e-mailed me a detailed report so that I could talk to the dealership and warranty company with exact information. It was very helpful. Although they were not given the opportunity to actually fix my car I’m sure they could have done a wonderful job and been done if the dealership wasn’t being a jerk. They just replaced the timing belt with water pump, oil pan and oil gasket for my car last week. They have provided us the best price (comparing other shops) and quality service, especially Keith, a very nice guy and took good care of our car and spent time to explain and answer all the questions we had. Ill continue using their services and recommend them to my friends.

I broke down on hwy 65 and chose Ammco for the transmission job. They said it would need rebuild and would take til Wed. Afternoon, it was Sunday. Well no choice we got a hotel room til Wed. Wed. came around we waited until end of day and they said not til Thurs. but Fri. for sure. Waited until end of day Fri. 5:00 pm came along starting a holiday weekend everybody rushed out right at 5:00pm as we stood there.They said couldnt get it done! Couldnt f-ing believe it! Well with no choice had to rent a car to drive 11 hours home, only to rent another car to come back the next week 11 hr. drive back to pick it up. They charged me a Healthy $3,400 considering all they put me though.But the worst was yet to come! This car was a perfect shape 1989 Firebird Trans am classis car that I just bought in Chicago and driving home to Panama City Beach FL. I didnt title car for 2 months, so covered it and it sat. After looking at car when I went to title it I noticed the 2 front quarter panels were bent out of line with the doors! I couldnt believe it! I brought it to a body shop and they said it was from being put on a lift wrong! And he showed me how they were bent out and would be difficult to pound back in without breaking. Putting 2 and 2 together Ammco was the only people that continuously put the car on and off the lift for 10 days. Also made sense that part of the delay was them trying to fix it before I picked it up! You can see where the door rubbed trying to close the door and was beatin in to far trying to fix it from rubbing?Pretty much ruined my car and cost me after the 2 nights they said it would take, $325.00 for rental cars/gas, $190.00 for extra hotel nights and approx $200.00 food. They never even apologized for any inconveniences this caused. Might have to do something legal! Be interesting to hear response. Obviously would not recommend you think?

Took my car back to Aamco for repairs. Although my previous review was not good, I have to say, they went above and beyond this time. They made the repair and fixed a few minor things they found at no charge to me. This is what I expect in a repair company. I would recommend them and will go back to them. Thanks Aamco.

Initially went in for manual transmission problems. Ended up getting a replacement transmission and its been working perfectly ever since. Also, later had a new Hurst shifter installed. I LOVE IT! Done in a timely manner and Im super happy with the way the car shifts now! Thanks to Keith and the mechanics for putting up with me and, at times my impatience! Good things come to those who wait.

For the love of everything that is good and holy spend your hard earned money somewhere else. I took my vehicle here for a check engine light (pvc valve and mass airflow sensor for the second time this year. They also repaired it the first time.) Walked from home to pick the car up Saturday morning at 8 am. The door says they are open at 8 along with their website. I finally had enough when they had not shown up at 930 am and went home. They obviously have no respect for others time. Not to mention i had to spend 600 dollars on the same issue they had supposedly just fixed earlier this year. The last time I had them repair it the stripped out the mass airflow sensor and had to replace the exhaust manifold at my expense. Will never go back to this horrible place!!!

Just had my Chrysler Crossfire serviced at Aamco Not only is my car running beautifully now, the customer service was professional, timely and respectful! A Grateful female customer!

Told me they couldnt read computer and tried to convince me to pay for tear down and possibly a rebuild or new only to find out it was a fuse. Based on computer read by a honest shop. $2,300 saved by following my own instincts.

I was impressed that my local AAMCO honored their work warranty almost two years later when it became obvious by their own admission that the previous installer made a mistake. I have used AAMCO for all my transmission repairs all the way back to 1974 and have spent major dollars with them over the years. Thank you.

I told them what I needed done and they did just that. Honest, timely, and friendly employees.

I had a scheduled appointment, when I got there they asked if I was dropping the car off. I said no because I had an appointment, they said it would be at least 2 hours (which it was 2 1/2 hours). Then they said the transmission needed rebuilt at a cost of 3500. So I decided to flush,filter, and change the fluid myself. It cost me 50 dollars and about an hour work. I’ve been driving the car for about 3 months since and haven’t had any problems with it at all. I will never go there again and wouldn’t recommend them

Friendly enough ..NOT HAPPY that they did the work without my permission. I have to say it needed done, but come on $120+ for a radiator clamp and some fluid replacement ????! I suppose its worth it since its pretty cold out and I didnt want to freeze doing it . Usually if you do work without permission / agreeing to terms could be considered a gift...lol .

This was a horrible experience! Dropped $2,500 and my car never ended up working and they continued to blame other people instead of taking responsibility and making it right. Never go here! I tried to be as reasonable as possible but when I had to spend $2,500 and it still never worked so I had to get a whole new car I was just done.
