Today was my first day trying The Yellowcup. My cappuccino and linzer tart cookies were good but the customer service was terrible. The counter girl had zero personality. Not even a greeting. Only spoke three words. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and nice when I went back up to the register to purchase cookies.I get a friendlier reception at Starbucks or from the greeter at Walmart. The employees at Starbucks are always friendly and that helps to give it a local neighborhood feel, despite the fact that it’s a corporation. I just moved into this building and love to support locally owned and operated businesses.but I wasn’t impressed with the attitude

Beautiful little neighborhood spot on Washington Ave. I think I have to give them the best Chai Latte in Houston award as of this morning. Spot on! We also got the blueberry muffin and a croissant and both were moist and butter. Perfectly paired with our hot drinks. They also serve Taco Deli breakfast tacos in the morning. Definitely stop in. Very clean facilities and observing social distancing protocols.

I think coffee is like wine, you can have a glass of Boones Farm or a glass of a great cab. This is the great cab of coffee. You really should give it a try. But savor it, smell it, roll it around in your mouth, thats coffee. I hope they put the tables out soon so you can enjoy it with a friend.

This place reminds me of Coffee Inn on the Upper East side in NYC. Boutique coffee shops in Manhattan are everywhere - in Houston - not so much - so its a treasure to not only find one, but to find one that also balances their roast so delicately to create a simple yet great cup of coffee is rare! Today - I went with a latte - was not disappointed. Thank you!

I visited this place around 8 months ago, and it was one of the most delicious coffee I have ever tasted. Now I’m not in Houston area, so it’s a shame for me not able to taste their coffee again! I ordered an iced cappuccino, and the staff made it as hot, but right after I told them that I ordered ice, they made mine again. I really want to taste the iced cappuccino again...

This place is brand spanking new! Lots of cute wall decals and modern decor. The aesthetic is hipster if there ever was a good use for that word. Nice bright, airy atmosphere.I got an almond milk cappuccino which was delicious. I’ll give a pass to the staff who are still in training, they’ll figure out that cash register eventually!Had to park with my hazard lights on right outside the door because the shared parking lot was full. You may have to opt for street parking but this little place is worth checking out!

If youre looking for a higher quality coffee, brighter place to sit and chat, and friendly staff peeps- youll definitely wanna check this place out! Be sure to check out the oat milk latte!

Stopped n for an Americano...my go to Cup. It’s nice to have variety n the hood. The espresso beans were flavorful and thankfully had a unique roast flavor to enjoy when so many places seem to have such similar beans. The joint is very Euro bright and fresh which is well suited to the expansive choices in tea leaves they have to offer. Admittedly, if I’m looking to hunker down for a nice hot cup of joe I prefer a warmer, comfy corner to lounge n, but I realize that’s not everyone’s cup o’ tea. Will b back for sure.

I love this coffee shop so much! Monday-friday I am in there. It is how I need to get my morning started. I buy there coffee they sell in there store and it is amazing. I also enjoy the nocture tea. If you toss and turn like me most nights this tea will be your best friend. I can tell when I didnt drink any before i went to bed. They are so consistent as well, which is super important for coffee drinkers.

Coffee shops seem to be pretty rare on Washington Avenue. There are a few, and I always wished there were more of them! Luckily, the Yellow Cup answered my wish and opened up at the start of summer 2018 below a residential complex at the end of Washington Avenue. They have a private parking lot out front with plenty of spaces and lots of street parking on the side streets behind the complex. There is a really modern and minimalist feel when you walk inside. Its beautifully white with funny coffee quotes in the walls. There are plenty of tables and chairs to lounge out as well.My girlfriend and I went on a late Saturday afternoon. We met with the owner, David C., and he handed us some menus. The menus had a welcoming message with some deep quotes explaining the concept behind the Yellow Cup. It basically comes down to the philosophy of living life in the present moment. We ordered a Chai Latte with soy milk for $5.25 and a Flavored Latte with homemade chocolate for $5.25. The chai was good and had many flavors in it that I am not typically used to. My girlfriend enjoyed her mocha; she said it was sweet, but wishes it was more chocolatey.Overall, I am happy David C. opened up his coffee shop concept on Washington Avenue. I loved the modern interior and our drinks were good. They offer free Wi-Fi if youre trying to get some work done with plenty of tables and seats. Our drinks were good as well. Welcome to the neighborhood!

I should have read at the poor reviews before going to Yellow Cup yesterday. This is one of the few places still requiring socialist masks for service. I have texted all my friends to boycott Yellow Cup and patronize establishments that give customers a choice. The employees use masks and they also have plexiglass to separate workers from customers. Enough is enough.

The coffee: This is tough. It is probably the best coffee that doesnt have the particular notes that I like. Its a bit acidic, heavy bodied, and a darker, more bitter roast. If you like those aspects, this may be the perfect coffee for you. I generally prefer more of a medium roast, with a better balance of bitterness and acidity. I still did really enjoy the coffee though. The cortado was a bit heavy with the milk, making it more creamy than I normally prefer. The shop: The ambiance is clean and modern, sort of like the direction that Boomtown has taken with a grey, white, and yellow theme, though more of a clean feel while sacrificing some of the warmth. I do like the vibe though. One thing I will say is that there basically arent any outlets, so if you plan on doing work on the nice, large tables and bar seating, make sure youre fully charged up.The service: The staff was friendly, but not memorable. They werent as engaging as some, but also not cold like others. I would say it was a very average experience.Overall: I definitely liked it here. Was it the best? Was it my favorite? No to both, but that doesnt mean I wouldnt come back for a change of pace. Also, they have a pretty large selection of teas that Id like to try out.Side note: After spending a good amount of time writing reviews, my cortado got pretty cold and I actually really liked it. Ill try some of their iced coffees like the cafe sua da next time.

Coffee is fine but I had an awful experience with the barista. First time there and I asked for a suggestion and he looked puzzled as to why I would be asking him about coffee even though he works at a coffee shop... didn’t offer any cream or sugar for my coffee so I ended up having to go to McDonalds for the cream and sugar. Seemed like he cared more about getting me out of the shop than giving me a good experience. Wish I could rate 0 starts.

Wish I could comment on the coffee here but unfortunately I can’t because I wasn’t allowed to order. Even though I was just coming for a Togo order that would have taken all of 3 minutes to complete, the fact I had my five pound dog in my hand so he wouldn’t have to wait in the hot car was a deal breaker for them apparently. It was weird. All three employees told me all at once that I needed to go outside within 2 steps of me walking in the door. I have taken this little guy in my hand to countless coffee shops just to place a quick to go order(he stays completely silent always) and this is the first time I have been met with an intense absolutely not as soon as I entered the door. It’s unnecessary and I have to give this place one star for being the least dog friendly coffee shop I have ever been to. Not a fan of this place for that reason alone.

Really cool vibe, acoustics arent great if its busy, sounds bounce all around. Colors and accents are well done. Espresso is a lighter roast, around a city+, which Im really happy about, but the cortado wasnt as good or flavorful as I expected, and maybe they use a blend of central or south American to create a more robust yet balanced roast profile. My wife got a drip coffee, and that was very good!Great coffeeshop, decent coffee. I think i expected more though since they use a Slayer machine. Overall a 3 star for the experience.

Nice cozy place to take your daily break or get some work done out of the office in an unusual environment.Good coffee served right and good pastries, but on the expensive end...maybe a little too expensive (chocolate croissant 4$!).I really appreciate they have small bites (single cookies) it is one of the few places around doing that, which makes the quick stops easier not needed to take a loan on a croissant. There is absolutely no table service and you should clean after yourself.Plenty of seating, even outside. No bike parking so expect to keep a look at your bike while drinking coffe. If you come with one.PS: odd situation, I noticed a container that looked like filled with cocoa powder and asked if actually was cocoa, they told me yes.... It was cinnamon... Unsure if just bad morning for the barista or clueless of her work place. That and the 4$ croissant made me choose 4* instead of 5.

The place looks great and I was quite excited about the slow bar area. I enjoy being able to sit down and chat with the barista while they brew. Unfortunately my barista was not familiar at all with how to do a pour over. It took 9 mins and she stopped brewing to go take an order. It’s understandable that not all the baristas will be familiar with slow brew methods. However there should be someone there that is familiar during working hours. The coffee was very watered down and room temperature by the time I got it. Might give it another chance but quite a disappointing experience.

Things going for it: good selection of coffee and teas. Great service from knowledgeable baristas. Fast wi-fi.Could improve: interior is all concrete and the acoustics are cavernous so whenever you move a chair or talk it echos throughout the space. Very distracting when one of their chairs (none of which have felt pads on the legs) is getting drug across the floor. Music is through the free version of a streaming service so you hear ads. Hilariously budget. There are 8 tables with 4 chairs and a window-facing bar with 8 chairs in the interior and 3 exterior tables with 2 chairs. On the balance of catering towards groups of cafe goers vs solo customers with laptops, they lean heavily towards groups, so I guess they didnt do all that much research into how millennials use coffee shops to hunker down with a laptop.Overall: stop by to grab a cup to go, but dont bother sticking around.

It was only 20 minutes from my hotel, right underneath the Elan Memorial Park apartment complex. The coffee shop is bright, airy, and clean. There is a white and yellow theme that resonates throughout the shop. The space isnt huge, but there are a number of round and bar tables. They serve both coffee and tea. Brewed fresh, there is their signature drip, French press, immersion brew, Hario V60, and Chemex for two. They also serve espresso drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, flat whites, and americanos, in addition to other drinks such as chai lattes and hot chocolate. If you want something cold, they also offer iced tea, cold brew, and iced lattes. Additionally, they serve Bellocq Tea Atelier loose leaf tea, a tea purveyor from Brooklyn. Informing me upfront that they will steep the tea for four minutes, they brought a wooden tray with the tea brewed in a Rishi Tea borosilicate glass teapot and a ceramic mug. They then poured the tea into the mug and told me that if I wanted more water to let them know. I really liked the tea I chose. It is a perfect afternoon tea that is well-balanced and feels incredibly elegant to sip. Later on, I asked for more water and they even brought me a new mug. The service here is top notch. After an hour, I decided to order a latte ($4.75) as well. It came with a tiny pastry as an accoutrement. I wish I had the chance to try their Chemex (my preferred method of brewing coffee) and some of their other drinks too, but I was well caffeinated.I would definitely come back here if I was in Houston again.
