Absolutely loved this place! We went for one drink and stayed for…well, it was definitely more than one. Robin, our bartender (and the proprietor) was a blast to chat with. We went during the day so it wasn’t packed, but we chatted with other patrons and there were plenty of regulars coming in (the best sign of a good bar).They make their own syrups and use quality mixers, so the cocktails are quite nice!There is a covered outdoor seating, a few inside tables, window seating, and bar seating. It had a great vibe and we would definitely go again.

The coffee and drinks were delicious here, but what really set this place apart from others was Robin. Robin exemplifies what I believe a wonderful human being to be. She was so enjoyable to speak with, served everyone quickly, made incredible drinks, and just really went above and beyond. Double Trouble is very lucky to have Robin as an employee and I highly suggest stopping by Double Trouble if you want some good coffee or drinks and to meet a special person!

As I was sitting there in the bar looking around at all the different ages and races of people, the light rail cruising by, friendly police officers walking the street all in this urban setting, it felt like being on an episode of Sesame Street to me as a kid, I mean that in the greatest way possible. People were coming and going, some hanging out, some wearing Astros jerseys, some wearing Redsox jerseys. Some dressed up some dressed down. But all sitting there having their drinks in harmony, I expected Big Bird to walk in at any moment. Then my wife looked up and in the rafters is an Elmo doll. So if you havent been to Double Trouble take trip. There are some fantastic drinks as well.

Great coffee and good drinks selection. Really cool/relaxing place. Covered outdoor seating with tons of places to sit.There happy hour is from 4pm-8pm M-F and 12pm-4pm Sat-Sun. Well mixed drinks are $3.50. $4 glass of wine and $1 off draft beers.

Went there for a drink because we were eating near by, hard to find parking in the area.Its a pretty small cocktail bar but cozy, with good drinks and an alternative crowd.

My favorite bar in Houston. You cant beat the vibe in here. Its low key, chill, and friendly. The coffee shop + bar concept is rad and makes for a diverse crowd. Good pour with the booze and fantastic cocktails.

I usually love this bar. It gives a different twist to the typical bar scene. Although...... I did have a negative experience with one of the bartenders. You can tell shes passionate about her job, but shes also aggressive. She fights with the peddlers coming near the patio... She also will call you out aggressively and angrily if your friends dont tip... I understand its how she makes her money... But where do you draw the line... She had thinking hair and dressed as a teen drag going into her 40s... Sad part is!! You know exactly who Im talking about

Atmospheric space with high ceilings and exposed beams; great outdoor sitting area especially for a relatively small space. Loved the high-backed bar stools and other furnishings. GREAT cocktail menu; tried the Radio Silence which was excellent and a friends Shark Week, also fab; sampled a Rocket Surgery which was also mighty fine. Three out of three indicates these ladies know what theyre doing. Would definitely return. Didnt sample the coffee; maybe next time.

I like this place a lot. Its not too pretentious and the staff is nice. The food, coffee and beer Ive had here have been excellent. I like the aesthetic too. The coffee and cocktail combo reminds me of European bars. The crowd is pretty hipster, for better or worse.

I did enjoy the coffee and tea that was served here. Beer and wine was also delicious and could not complain about the taste of it. The reason why it is a three star is because the one bartender was rather rude and disrespectful towards me because I was taking a while to choose what to drink. The other times I would come they were really good service but that one bartender is bad news and hope he gets better people communication skills.

Such a great welcoming place. Not like some pro or bro bar with bartenders (although they major know their bar stuff). A people-forward place.

I only give this place a 3 because I only stayed about 30 min or so. However, the environment was great! Theres an outside patio available with the dreamy lighting (white Christmas lights). The inside is nice. The chairs are vintage white with beautiful golden beading. There are pictures on the wall.. Kinda like billboard pics that give it a nice artsy vibe. I had a hottoddie tonight and it was really good. Great place to vibe and have a nice time. Definitely plan on going back.

Good drinks, great people, spot on service, and all in a great part of town. You can bring in food from neighboring establishments and hop the rail to go catch a show, ride to the rodeo, or go see the Astros. Family friendly especially in the day and evenings. Good music is always playing and the regular customer base is good one.

Great place to go if youre in a group where some people want to grab drinks but some arent drinking. Good vibe in general. Parking is definitely the biggest negative here, take the rail or Lyft if possible.

Worth 5 stars in my opinion, but I like small dark bars. This is a place where I would have regular drinks if I was closer. Dirty South cocktail is tasty. Basically is a Long Island Ice Tea, but I’m more a beer drinker. They have a few good beers on tap and after a few drinks it’s good to finish up with some dark coffee

Very nice low key chill spot. Regular cocktails available,yet they also have drinks mixed with coffe. Located right by the train tracks makes no difference to the relaxed atmosphere of the place.

Great coffee in a cool environment. Best vanilla latte I have had in town. Great outside sitting spot but the porch is always filled with people smoking so everything smells like an ashtray. They also make a great toddy! This is a great place to spend an afternoon.

Great ambiance. Bartenders are A-List, they will share their knowledge in order to serve you in the best way. You cant be there Happy hour prices. Plus, the other patrons are very cool and laid back.

First time coming here yesterday. The bartender was super friendly and made a mean Irish coffee. My girlfriend had a cold brew which was also delicious. Made the end of our day perfect. Ill be back soon!

When there is wait staff its a great place. Staff is nice and foos okay. But not worth ordering at bar.

If you’re going for an upscale, craft cocktail bar go elsewhere. The “smokin pistol” should be called “bong wash” as it legit smelt and presumably tasted like someone washed their bong and dumped the water in a dirty cocktail glass. The coffee drink with vodka that sounded good in theory was a fail. The latte was decent, but the atmosphere was not at all what I suspected. It’s a hipster-grunge feel. If you’re into that, you’ve found your haunt. Anyway, I’m going to shower.

Had a delicious cinnamon iced latte here that was made with love! The espresso is well flavored and they make their syrups in house. I just wish they were open earlier so I could come here on the way out to work!!

A bar AND a coffee shop!Cool place with lots of locals and a laid back atmosphere. Great for coffee or drinks or both! Inexpensive (but not cheap) drinks that are sure to satisfy any thirst and palate.Lounge outside and watch the streetcar go by and just take it in on a hot Houston afternoon!I wish I could have spent more time in this great hang out! All the bad reviews are made by sensitive people who should probably stay home. I never had a bad experience here, even on my very first visit. The staff is awesome and the service is awesome! If you can’t connect to WiFi, don’t complain. When it’s busy it’s hard to connect but we live in 2020 and hotspot is a thing lol so yea.

Love this little place! Relaxed atmosphere, seating on the patio, friendly bar tenders, music that is random enough to be interesting but chill enough to not be annoying... Its the perfect spot to sit and chat after a good night out.

A bar wanna be a coffee shop! As for coffee it fails miserably for a bar its okay. Black coffee was watery and bitter. Cappuccino with extra shot made an okay regular coffee. I guess if you mix it with some alcohol, you wouldnt mind of the quality... As for the place, it was on the low side. Yes, there are some chic elements but they get lost on the old building which is not appealing from the outside. Again, bar like at night it might be cool... And even thought all this, I have to say the waiter/ bartender/cashier (yes, only one employee for all that) was very nice. Please management, get good quality coffee and have more personnel. How would one person be alone attending customers in a crowded bar?

I read most cocktail menus, and there isnt one that appeals to me. The menu here is full of tasty beverages. And they know how to make a Last Word. If its too early to drink they do great coffee, as well.

Awesome place to stop in for a cocktail! I went on a Saturday night and there was a nice size crowd, but it was not overly packed. Perfect stop if you want a bar with places to sit and room to move around while still maintaining a high energy atmosphere.My friend and I each tried a few different ones and they were all delicious. A couple of the drinks we tried and fresh espresso in them, and they were awesome. I can only imagine that their non-alcoholic espresso drinks served during the day are of the same caliber.

Nice place to grab drinks or coffee with friends. If you sit on the porch, you may have to deal with the local homeless asking for money or cigarettes. Right out in front of the rail line too, so you have easy access to all of downtown/the museum district/the medical district.

I love any place that combines both good beer and great coffee. This is a god chill place to spend time, especially in their front covered outdoor area. Its never too crowded and the service is great. I like to get their cold coffee cocktails. Not sure how their black coffee is on its own but they do mix up a good treat! Right off the metro-rail, this is a great spot!

Very rude customer service walked in Monday August 26 the blonde short hair bartender was rude af, horrible customer service as well as a tall bald skinny guy was even more rude. Tried picking fights with us after we walked in to use the bathroom and have a drink. Was told in a very rude manner the establishment was closed even after online and published hrs say other wise. The behavior was trying to be justified with them having a slow night and the guy having a bad day. Not really looking forward to coming back and giving my business to such rude staff and establishment when there’s better customer service else where.

I love the local and the drink selection. The pecan milk is amazing for a latte. But one of the bartenders gets really annoyed if you ask for anything more than a latte. They were amazing at keeping the disrupters off the patio as I was sitting with my gal pals and couldn’t find my knife as one kept creeping closer. As we went to pay my friend could only do Apple Pay and I offered to pay for her tab and the dude did one of those “omg these girls are annoying” sighs, rolled his eyes, and took my card. Just, be a bit nicer maybe?

Violent bartender put a chill customer in a headlock!!! And then tried to fight him on the sidewalk!The customer (guy and his girl) had ordered at the bar, my wife noticed that this couple was cute and smiling and hipsters like everyone else. Next thing I know the bartender has come around the bar and is talking in a threatening manner to the customer. It took me a second to figure out what was going on--I assumed the bartender was a drunk customer because he was clearly the aggressive one. I got up and tried to figure out what was going on while everyone else in the bar stared. The woman in the couple was upset, asking me what is going on? The customer walks to the door and then stops for a second. His girl is still inside. I hear the bartender telling the guy to leave.The bartender then puts the customer in a headlock right on the patio, then they are on the sidewalk and the bartender squares up to fight the guy. I go and stand between them, then Im trying to hold back the customer because Im less afraid of him. Im afraid to even touch the bartender, hes like in a rage. The woman comes outside and then collapses on the sidewalk in tears, terrified. Another couple customers helped keep the two separate, and finally the customer goes to his girl, helps her get up, and they start walking home.The customers were African-American, and I dont think that is a coincidence. They were cute and well-dressed hipsters like everyone else. But I really have a feeling the bartender wouldnt have been so aggressive with others. Oh, and in case you are wondering--the customers were not drunk...maybe a little tipsy like everyone at a bar.Ill never go back. Too bad this place, which has a pretty good reputation, hires violent bartenders, and is a workplace that makes bartenders think this is OK. As for the two other bartenders present that night, one did come and try to stop the fight on the sidewalk, which I appreciate, and the other stayed inside. None of them spoke to the customer, checked on the woman who collapsed on the sidewalk, or said anything to me and my wife after the incident. I stayed around another five minutes in the bar. I talked to other customers, all of which thought the bartender was the aggressor. I also took pictures of the bartenders, and even though they cleared the drinks wed just paid for, otherwise they didnt bother me, maybe because we are white.If I had been the customer who was put in the headlock, I would have called the police. And I later realized maybe I should have called 911 to report the bartender assaulting the customer. I am emailing the bar to let them know. But either way--be careful at this place.

The flat white? Delicious. They make a mean cuppa joe here, and with a very independent vibe to boot.Im not much of a drinker anymore, but can dig the idea of going either way; there are not enough places to grab a good coffee in the wee hours of the morning while co-conspirators lush it up.

Great spot near downtown, while it might be considered midtown this little strip of business is like an old downtown right next to downtown Houston. Accessible from the Metro Train. Nice selection of coffee, tea and beer and they have wifi available for work.

Love this special corner in main. Best place to hang out with place, or alone! Good good coffee, and cocktails! Badass music in the background and fancy crowd.

It took me five minutes to even order and another five to actually be served. I ordered the Salty Dog with gin but seemingly received a $6 glass of grapefruit juice. My partner ordered the Bruce Lee, which again, lacked the alcohol.Sad as Ive passed this place many times and it looks cute but Im not wasting another $20 on poor service again.

A young assless white woman in acid washed cut off shorts was tending the bar, she was extremely passively rude and unprofessional.When I let her know that I was not oblivious to her unwarranted and unwelcomed behavior she decided to appease me by offering my order for free.The damage had already been done.I took my drink and left never to return.I will always speak negatively and avoid this place because of this.She reminded me of all the other white privileged selective passive racist businesses I have encountered throughout Houston. There was absolutely no logical reason for me to receive the type of treatment I received.

I loved the experience, ambiance and location. The prices are great for coffee and the staff was really involved in customer satisfaction. I had the Cinnamon Toast Crunch with soy and it was mmmm mmmm good. Will drop in again. Lots of seating outdoors and indoors is perfect for mingling after a walk in mid town.

Fun, chill environment, but the coffee cocktails do not taste like coffee at all. The one we had has coconut la croix, which overpowered the entire drink. Way too carbonated for a “coffee cocktail”.

This cocktail bar is a very pleasant place. It has courteous staff, the waiter helped us to choose the order and we were fully satisfied with it. I liked the restaurant: all the drinks, food and service. The prices in Grain are slightly above the average, but I think that the location and the level of this bar oblige!
