I think I found my new fave breakfast place! We ordered a Turkey and Fig Almond Flour Crepe, Fig-ama-jig Croissant Sandwich, Green Tea Matcha Latte, Dirty Chai, Almond Croissant, and 2 bon bons to go (Pecan Pie and Honey Lavender). Everything tasted AMAZING! The fig jam is the perfect sweetness to go with the goat cheese in both meals. I loved the dressing on the greens that came on the side. The dirty chai tasted almost like a pumpkin spice latte 😋 Almond croissant had the perfect amount of filling and was not too sweet. You must try the chocolates! They were $2.50 each for a bite size but a good chocolate fix. Definitely going back for more everything!

SO GOOD!! I’m from the east coast visiting Houston for a night and decided to stop by this cafe down the road from my hotel. The Acai + Coconut Chia bowl was DELICIOUS!!! They were also incredibly helpful at the counter/cashier which I very much appreciated since I am not a local. I also had an iced almond milk latte with flavoring which was also very delicious. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Service was quick too. Get the Acai bowl :D I want another one.

I had a Turkey & Fig crepe... I was very skeptical about the goat cheese because Ive never tried it before, but the lovely cashier told me its tanginess really complemented the fig nicely, so I decided to give it a try. I also ordered an enormous chocolate chip cookie, & a small sugar free vanilla latte. She asked me if I would like the cookie warmed up, & if I wanted it before, or with, my meal. When she brought out the crepe she told me if I didnt like it that she would have it remade for me with another cheese... it did NOT go back! It was delicious & I was so grateful she suggested I try it! The coffee was delicious, & that cookie was devoured! Great service, great coffee, food, & desserts! Will definitely be back!

I visited Merchant for the first time after reading all these great reviews but I left feeling bummed. I ordered my coffee but the guy at the cash register was blah... not very enthusiastic, not very helpful... I just got a vibe that I needed to hurry up and order. I ordered a large cappuccino and he asked if it was to go or to have it there. I said to have it there... and part of me was excited to get my drink in a coffee mug--especially after seeing all these pretty coffee mug pictures on a few review sites. Well, this really nice guy came to bring me my drink... in a to-go cup. I was turned off by it and told the guy that brought me the drink and he said that the large drinks come in to-go cups. Why didnt the first guy tell me that? I then ordered a chocolate chip cookie, It was really good but not warm. Apparently they can warm it up for you? I was not asked and as good as it tasted, I couldnt help but think that it was just way too cold.My friend then showed up, ordered and as she sat down, she said... I ordered something but the guy in the cash register wasnt very helpful. I just ordered the first thing I saw because I felt rushed.I thought I was being picky with my feelings about this place (and that guy) but my friend noticed it too.Anyway. Can your staff just be a little friendlier? Ask us: Is it your first time here? Upsell. Tell us what people like, whats popular... give us suggestions. Ask if we want the cookie warmed up, etc. Tell us that the large size doesnt come in a mug... just some communication would be nice.Nice place but was turned off by that dude. I took a picture of my cookie but not the cappuccino... it just didnt look picture ready in a to-go cup. :-/

New minimalist European coffee, crepes, and bubbly cafe in the same Post Oak Plaza that houses Pinto Ranch, Massraffs, and Berryhill Tamales & Tacos.Pros: illy brand coffee, wifi, table, counter and community space, chickory lattes, beer/wine, and a limited French Cafe style entre and sweets menu.Cons: obvious growing pains as several menu items, and drink choices were not available, only two vegan friendly menu options, loud EDM/BPM music -- but was finally taken down a notch to a cool world/euro vibe playlist. Stark and bright and lacks the charm of its NOLA counterpart. Not cheap, $4 for a large drip coffee. A French Cafe that has NO French press, huh? The brew option was on the initial menu but since removed.

Update: I dont really know what happened to this place. I came and no one knew what a cortado was, but they said theyd make it, they just had to remember how. I was then given a mug of coffee flavored milk. They used to have a house special cortado that was fun and festive. It had a splash of simple syrup and cinnamon and it was one of my favorite, unique cortados. The baristas were conversational and talked about their drinks and the twists they put on them. All that is gone. I am so disappointed.

Great food and amazing people. I enjoyed my Cortado and, as a coffee fanatic, I am impressed. This is what coffee is supposed to be. The illy taste resonates and stays silky, unlike Starbucks burnt beans and nasty aftertaste. Im glad I arrived in the nick of time as their kitchen closes 30 minutes before closing, like any other fine establishment.I ordered a crepe with French ham, runny eggs, bacon, and spinach to keep my heart from exploding. The food was phenomenal and stuffed with love. The ingredients are fresh as if I traveled to France and back. The chocolates are divine and are my new Go-To last minute presents.Elias, the barista, was so attentive and made this place feel like home. This is a cute and laid-back cafe. Seating is somewhat limited if youre with a group, but the outside tables have more space and are shaded. They have pretty good coffee and pastries here and a wide variety of crepes, so it makes for a good lunch or snack option. The coffee is definitely on the pricey side - but its the Galleria area, so I guess thats to be expected. I had a lox crepe (the Loxsmith) which was good, and came with a nice light salad on the side. You can also get the crepes gluten-free (almond flour) or with buckwheat flour. While they do have high chairs, there are no changing tables, and no kids options - though my kid enjoyed a pricey parfait and pastry. It would be nice to have a mini PB&J crepe or sandwich option.

I went here to work on a paper and have lunch, I ended up sitting outside and it was difficult to concentrate because the music was loud and not cafe music at all. I ordered a matcha green tea latte and a goat cheese, walnut and spinach salad. The latte was fine and was served quickly. The salad was ready as soon as I found a spot to sit outside. I wasnt impressed as it looked like there was really no effort put into it at all. It was a handful of spinach, with walnuts and crumbled goat cheese on top, drenched in a lemon/garlic sauce? I couldnt really put my finger on the flavor but I dont feel it complimented the other ingredients. I paid 8.50 for it. I wasnt able to finish the salad because it was absolutely drenched in this dressing. I decided I wasnt going to be able to finish my paper there, so I decided to leave to find somewhere a little quieter and comfortable. I took the salad back to the counter and explained that the salad was too saturated to eat and honestly just did not taste good. The guy at the counter agreed with me that it had way too much dressing, and then asked if I wanted another one. I explained that I wasnt going to be staying to eat it, and he said I can come back again and get another salad. I said that was fine and he wrote we owe free salad on a receipt paper and then signed it. He said I could take it back and they will honor it. I dont think ill go back for it though.

My family absolutely adores Merchant Cafe. There is so much to love. The food is fresh, flavorful and healthy. My favorite soup so far is the lentil soup...sublime in flavor and texture. It is better than I have been able to achieve in my own kitchen. The tomato soup was good. I could taste the char on the tomatoes and I loved it. Whenever I make this soup at home, the flavor tends to vary depending on the tomatoes. I will definitely try it again at Merchant as I know with a more flavorful tomato the soup will find perfection. The Baguette on my Burrata+Pomodori sandwich was perfect...a crunchy exterior with a soft interior...the Burrata creamy. I only wish the Balsamic vinegar was drizzled a little more along the length of the sandwich. When I bit into that spot on the sandwich with balsamic I wanted more! The chocolate chip cookie is the best we have found in Houston. Warning...the cookie is so deliciously rich+flavorful and textural that it should be eaten slowly... savored over a period of time or shared with someone you love. Lastly, I must mention the carrot cake which is divine. Merchant is a gem and I cannot wait to visit again!
