Nice little spot. The custom drinks are good and unique. We got a croissant and a kolache which were both fine but we weren’t given the option to have them warmed up. Lots of two-top tables so could be a good spot to go and get work done, although it’s pretty lively and not quite a cozy vibe. Probably better for going and chatting with friends over some snacks. Nice to visit if you’re in the area.
Been coming here for about two years now, back then they would display beautiful art you could purchase, the place has an industrial modern look. Servers are always kind to help you. I dont buy much of the food. I once got the chicken salad croissant with the soup of the day. I wish I remembered the flavour. The spectre (cold) with extra agave is the best. They have whole beans for sale, I got the one with the jar, they even grind them for you! The deposit is $5 for the jar but if you come back you get it back! Its 20 ounces. I reccomend them because its good roast. I didnt like the fact that it was extremely full today, there was no social distancing and no tables closed off. They recently put tables and chairs back. Nobody besides staff wears masks, in line, or to move around.
First day with open outdoor seating!Super kind service. Limited selection, with no pour over coffee. Batch brew is excellent. Espresso and milk steaming is perfect. Shop doesnt look great with a whole bunch of chairs pilied in a corner. Heres to brighter days! Not sure about the bigotry against people with guns. Not the nicest thing Ive seen.
I didn’t like their house bean/espresso, Spindletop. They suggested their Single-Origin which is a rotating bean (as in you have to ask what their single-origin is as it always changes). I LOVE their avocado toast 🥺💕 but I’ve gotten quite a few varied experiences in portion sizes which is frustrating. The spot is cute, comfortable—a typical hipster coffee shop by nature. Lines can get long but you can order ahead online. Oh, and their kitchen closes at 3pm-jfyi. And, they have oatmilk! 😍😍😍
Love their coffees especially the iced caramel latte with oat milk. have yet to tried their pastries but coffee is always good and consistent. Great atmosphere for studying/working.
Absolutely excellent coffee; the shakerato is incredible and youd be hard pressed to find another place that does something like that. But the place smells like a pool hall even through my mask because of the cigar/smoke shop next door. I absolutely wouldnt spend any more time there than I had to to get my drink. 🤮
I used to work at The HoneyMoon and drink this stuff all the time. I live in Colorado now and recently was missing drinking truly good coffee. I ordered some Sonora Honeyed, just got it in the mail today. Roasted the day I placed my order. Ive already had two cups today and it literally tastes just how I remembered. So smooth. Not bitter at all... Just freaking amazing. I dont think Ill ever drink any other coffee again... Ever.Thank you Boomtown for making my life better with every cup. Literally brings tears to my eyes how good this coffee is. Only thing I miss about Houston; and now I dont have too. Now I just bring Boomtown to me!
Best coffee shop I’ve been to in America, and I’ve been to 44 states. The Mayan Coffee is by far my favorite. Lines can be long on weekend mornings, but order online to skip it!
Absolutely lovely cafe with great coffee. I have gone a number of times whenever I find myself downtown, and the baristas are always friendly and knowledgeable. Their shakarato is unique and delicious. This is one of the cafes where I can tell they really care about coffee as a craft. I like the space itself, too; as others have said, its a bit on the livelier side. Enjoyable all around!
Great local spot. Good coffee, nice breakfast menu. Enjoyable atmosphere.
Great coffee, I had the milk and honey. Delicious. Wish they had lavender lattes though.
They don’t charge extra for alternative milk. I go almost everyday and coffee is great every time. Great service as well. 💜
BEST. COFFEE. IN. HOUSTON.I compare every coffee shop to this place. It is just exceptional. The $5 mocha is SO strong it will send me into orbit. But, it doesnt taste like licking the bottom of a cast iron pan (looking at you Starbucks)
The milk + honey latte (iced!) and boomtown taco never disappoint!
Favorite coffee shop in The Heights! Coffee is on point, and the food is really yummy too. Lines can get really really long on the weekends, so come early if you want to grab a spot and eat inside. Parking is difficult, but that is everywhere in the heights so can’t get around it. There’s definitely a hipster vibe inside, and I love the fact that to to-go portions are really generous! Highly recommend!
Not sure why people rate this place so high. It was the worst coffee ever. My husbands cortado and my cafe aulait tasted like lukewarm water. Yuk. Will not be back.
A close friend suggested this pkace and I was quite impressed with the quality of the coffee. Good location, easy parking, lots of space inside. They have a little bit of hip vibe inside which was cool. I tried the Flat White twice and it was really nice. What I did notice on both these occasions though was that the employees chat a lot among themselves - it was quite odd as I almost felt neglected after placing the order and making the payment. Other than that, great place!
Coffee is great, I just wish the water wouldnt drop from the ceiling at the back two tables.
LOVE LOVE LOVE! We have been frequenting Boomtown for quite sometime. I love their Crud and have been a part of their coffee bean refill program. We bring home a jar of coffee beans and return the jar when its empty and you get a free drink when purchasing your next one! Its in the perfect strip and the staff is always friendly.
Delicious chai and a great atmosphere to get some work done! Located in one of the best parts of the Heights.
Boomtown is a great coffee shop on a unique street in Houston. In addition to a great selection of coffee, pastries and breakfast items, Boomtown also sells fun merchandise. Located in the Heights, there are a lot of fun shops/restaurants/bars/wineries to walk to in the immediate vicinity. There are also two nice walking trails nearby.
They have great coffee! Also, their menu displays exactly what is in each drink, which is super helpful if youre not familiar with the different kind of coffee drinks.
Best coffee and great workers!!! I’ve never actually placed my own order here, I just let them make me whatever they like and I’ve never been disappointed. Breakfast tacos are top notch too. Great coffee great tacos. Definitely recommend to a friend
The coffee here tastes burnt in my opinion. There is always a long line and no place to sit and enjoy your coffee. I like a more cozy atmosphere.
One of the best. We love this place for a quick (really good) cup to go, or to have a light snack and coffee with friends. The staff is friendly, the food and beverages are great, and the atmosphere is comfortable. Definitely recommend to both locals and visitors!
Boomtown breakfast tacos breathe life back into my body. Love this place.
Coffee was really good. 5 stars for the coffee. My only complaint is that the seating was cool and uninviting.
Really really good coffee, and nice breakfast options too.
Some of the drinks are very unique and definitely havent seen at everyday coffee locations. I got the Mayan mocha, which is very interesting! Muffin was flavorful but dry, would have definitely been better warmed up.There is minimal parking in the front by the other surrounding shop fronts. More parking across the street.Inside is simple and basic, walk in, menu in the front above the registers and wait for your drinks off to the side
Always thought this place works be overrated based on how many people talk about it. This place is not overrated. The coffee here is amazing all the staff are very nice and the atmosphere is very cool. I wouldn’t necessarily come here to work just because it is very busy and it would be distracting to me but if that’s the atmosphere you like they play very nice music. The specialty lattes are super!
The cortado here is delicious! Its creamy, slightly sweet, and has hints of chocolate. They also serve various teas, and food items at certain times not(I think only around lunch) in addition to some pastries. The art rotates, which constantly keeps the place fresh and new, and they redid the interior with new furniture and repainted the walls white, making the place seem larger and more inviting. There is an outdoor seating area that is shaded and covered from the elements, and there are plenty of outlets inside. Before the changes, Boomtown was already one of my favorite coffee shops in Houston, and it has only furthered solidified its position up there. I would highly recommend coming here to work, study, meet, or hang out and enjoy the atmosphere.
This place has utterly amazing espresso drinks.I was blown away by how good the espresso drink tasted. The reviews suggested the drinks would be good, but they were even better than I expected. The pastry I tried was OK. It seemed a bit stale, but Im still giving a 5-star review because the drink was outstanding.
Fave coffee place in Houston. Great coffee, lots of selection, friendly staff
This is a great place to get coffee! They have many varieties available and what I really like is on their menu they have all the drinks and how they are broken down in terms of what goes in them, ex. Latte, they have a picture of a large cup with a lot of milk and expresso. Pretty neat if you are not well versed in the ways of coffee bevere. Service was quick and the place was ultra clean. Its a little busy and not a lot of room inside due to the many customers that come in but there is seating outside.
Delicious coffee! Great place to stop while shopping on 19th. There is some outdoor seating if you want to take a little break. A true gem. Highly recommend.Following current safety guidelines as well. Masks required, no indoor seating, distancing enforced.
Creative coffee and espresso drinks, craft service and a thoughtful menu presentation make for a solid coffee house. I like the location although parking can b challenging as w all shops on this street. Atmosphere is crisp and modern w plenty of seating just wish some of it was more comfy coffee house laid back style. The outdoor cafe seating makes for a great Heights experience. Will come back to try more offerings.
Cool coffee shop in downtown. I love going here to take pictures for my Instagram: nancyuche_ check me out 😎
Favorite coffee shop. Great customer service...excellent coffee, never burnt. Their boomtown tacos are unexpectedly yummy too!
Quick service and all the servers were super friendly.
The salted caramel chai latte was so good!
I love this coffee shop. Support Local! I love the iced milk and honey latte. Their breakfast tacos are super good. I wish their was a way to order through an app and walk in and pick up your order because most of the time, the line is out the door because there is one register and can make me turn around and say never mind! But if I have the time, I will wait!
The coffee is great and it seems like they know exactly how much sweeter to use so you enjoy the flavor of the coffee without it being too sweet.

Another bike and coffee this morning. About 6 miles from med center - great ride.Another great coffee shop! Very friendly and professional staff. Working quickly and with care. Excellent yogurt parfait. Fresh, nature and very reasonable price. Only drawback, no outside seating - but the space just does not allow for it.
Cute coffee shop in the Heights

Upon entering, waiter says I have to wear a mask (even though the state ordinance was repealed last month). So i put one on & then he tries to tell me how to properly wear it. Finally i get to place my order & he says they don’t take cash so I leave. What a lousy place!
Awesome they workers are really cool and always remember my order
Great service and great food!! Employees make you feel at home and welcomed.
Made an honest mistake and sat down without being seated (I’ve never been here before, there was no hostess at the front so I assumed it was a seat yourself kind of place). Had a man come up to me and ask if the hostess seated me, I said no and got a very passive aggressive statement thrown at me about how I have to wait like everyone else. I apologized and said I didn’t realize there was a wait and that there was no hostess when I walked in, and he yet again, passive aggressively says, well we only have one and you need to be patient. So so rude. Your job is in customer service, you need to try and understand people before you assume anything. I won’t ever bother coming back here and I certainly will recommend that people go to one of the many other wonderful cafes that have lovely people working there. I don’t care how good your food or coffee is, if you have rude staff, that will blacken the experience every time.
Boomtown used to be good, but now its a cheap imitation of its former self, for several reasons:1) The specialty drinks pretty much taste the same and leave a cardboard aftertaste.2) The regular coffee drinks are either bland or burnt.3) Customer service is abysmal, the staff seems really annoyed that they have to serve customers.4) The restrooms are horrendous, last time I found fecal matter on the toilet seat.Something really needs to change at this place.
Love this place. After going several times I can honestly say it’s one of the best coffee places around
Friendly staff, lots of seating options, house-made chai and iced coffee concentrate, and delicious, ethically sourced, drip coffee makes this one of my favorite places to get some work done. Their kitchen also puts a lot of intentional effort behind the tasty menu. Prices are average for a craft coffee shop, but flavor is always great. The only thing to note is that the WiFi isn’t always strong enough for video calls, but it works great for regular online work needs.
Stopped by Boomtown Coffee to make time for dinner later. I ordered a Mayan-flavored coffee and a giant macadamia cookie that they had on display on the counter. The girl that took my order was very friendly and my coffee was so good and pretty (design). I’ve been disappointed by other coffee shops that have great photos of their coffees on social media with cute swirly designs and when I order, it’s plain. I’m all about pretty and Boomtown delivered. :) The cookie, I must say, was not great. Not sure what I paid for it but it tasted a little chemical-y(???). I’m gonna eat it all cause I don’t turn down a cookie but don’t get that one. I like baking but can’t figure out what ingredient I’m tasting that I don’t like.Music is a little loud if you need a quiet space but you can tune it out or put on your earphones. Ambiance is nice. Despite wall and decor colors being light, it feels cozy. The coffee shop is on that cute Heights strip with all those hipster/cute-looking stores.I struggled to find parking. I guess it’s like that anywhere in this area. I was able to find street parking after I circled the block. I might be back but just not on my side of town.
Great ambience, excellent coffee.
This is one of the best coffee shop I ever went into. Their coffee smells and taste so good. The area was great and clean. The staffs handles all the customers wearing the smiles on their faces which made the area looks even great. They also serve a really tasty breakfast which I didnt expect. Their food taste so good.
The tastiest cappuccino is here; kind staff and nice prices.
Best craft coffee in Houston. Period. Were lucky to have them here.
Good place to meet for coffee when inside the loop.
It was good. I ordered a caramel latte and just walked in with a mask, ordered and walked out. Simple and delicious.
The tacos and coffee were delicious! My avocado toast could have been a little more flavorful, but the ingredients were fresh and the amount of avocado was very generous.
One of the fantastic veggie tacos in town. The corn tortillas are handmade and unique. This taco is made with seasonal ingredients. Right now it has awesome squash, black beans, avocado and more. Seasonal butternut salsa is to die for!!
Staff was friendly and the coffee was pretty good I highly recommend the grilled cheese
Quite an enjoyable experience

The coffee was ok but nothing I would go out of my way for
