Antidotes coffee RULES head and shoulders above the larger national coffee chains. Such flavorful, robust varieties of whole beans that the barista will grind for you upon request. Cannot recommend this little independent coffee shop more. I do not drink alcohol, but it seems they have a fab selection of beer and wine, too. And the friendly customer service cannot be beat.

This cafe is a great place to get work done, chill, and decompress. If you are looking for a cafe or coffee shop that you need to focus but also don’t want to be around a lot of people come here. Agora was my go to place but it’s always packed. Antidote has comfy couches to do some journaling at, or tables where you can blog or edit videos. As a creative consultant it’s nice when I find spots that serve multiple purposes. They do practice social distancing so face mask are required. Their pastries are on point (oatmeal cookie & cheese croissant).

Used to love going here in the evenings to do some work. Vintage decor inside is nice despite the small-ish space. Coffee was okay. Felt like a nice quiet neighborhood coffee shop and was very homey.Unfortunately it’s no longer a good place to try to do any work or studying since wifi is only available 1h at a time and is slow if you can connect at all.Unfortunately seems like management is so greedy / paranoid of people leaching their WiFi and space that they’ve created a bad experience for people who would otherwise spend a lot of money there.Creating good ambiance and a pleasant and useful atmosphere for people will make them way more money in the long run than going after every nickel and dime. Unfortunately seems to just be their philosophy given other reviews about being harassed to make purchases quickly.

The coffee is great, most of the baristas are fabulous, but the manager is horribly rude, very angry all the time, and just downright scary. She yells at customers for no good reason, she talks down to her employees, she throws things, slams equipment around, and she makes people uncomfortable coming in. Ive been coming here for years, ordering lots of coffee and tipping generously, but with all the new coffee shops out there, I wont be back. Congrats, management, you chased away a lifetime customer.

Good tasting espresso and some unique flavors to try from. I had their cajeta latte and let me tell you it was so delicious I couldnt put it down. I am a huge fan of goats milk and cheese and this latte blew my mind. We also tried their mocha Raspberry, which my boyfriend really likes, and their chai. Everything was great quality and great tasting.

I like Antidote - everyone is friendly here, the coffee is good, music is nice, very laid back vibe. Two points I wish were better though: wifi and seating. I don’t understand why Black Hole and Antidote only allow one hour of wifi, and you need to keep your receipt to access it which they do not tell you when purchasing your coffee (and if there’s a sign it’s not easily visible). And there isn’t a ton of seating for doing work alone. The couches are nice if you come with a couple friends but I wish there were at least one or two more two-top tables, or that the outside two-tops were better covered from the Houston sun. Other than those two things the coffee is great and a good spot to visit either for takeout or just to hang with friends rather than work.

Coffee was alright. One star because of the service. I understand places have their own COVID guidelines and we’re all working to be safe. Here you have to wear your mask while seated and when not ACTIVELY drinking or eating. Sip, mask, sip, mask. Personally, that’s uncomfortable for me when I’m trying to enjoy my coffee. Expectations were set upfront, but with the explanation I still thought I’d be able to drink my coffee while seated as normal and then put my mask on after I finished my cup. As I am sipping my drink off and on and working on homework, one of the workers rudely comes up to tell me to put my mask on. I clarified that I was drinking and she continued to say that when I finish my sip, I must put my mask back on or I could sit outside if the rules are too strict inside. So we left lol that’s excessive!

Always came here for the Cajeta latte, which was funky and delicious. Ample seating with a great garden area and plenty of room indoors. However, dont expect miracles with traditional coffee staples; I ordered a flat white and came out disappointed. The milk was too hot, and the espresso wasnt dialed in adequately, leading to a bitter beverage. For a coffee shop in such a competitive location, Id really expect a better experience from such a staple beverage. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth to give out a simply okay review, as service has always been great here and Ive had a few enjoyable drinks. Hopefully my next venture over will encourage me to update my score.

Do not recommend. Corrupt manager Stacy and bullying co-owner Miriam really dampen the spirit of the place. I’m sorry to say this is not a β€˜safe place’ for their workers or customers. It’s a place where these two individuals continually create more bad karma for themselves by not treating others the way they would like to be treated. The other co owners are kind but only involved when they need coffee and will show up at any time to have the baristas step aside while they take over the machine for their own use. I would like to see the place managed by a more kind and caring person who is actually concerned about the well being of the workers. Instead of hiring a gang of individuals who constantly feel like they are walking on eggshells. Miriam comes across as very abrasive so it’s curious as to why she would be interested in interacting with people as a career choice.

There was a young man at the front who was really nasty to me. I was not aware of the outdoor seating on the side of the coffee shop and I was looking for a outlet to charge my laptop. So I asked him where chargers where located and he pointed to the surrounding areas of the spot so I thought that it was okay to charge my laptop from the inside although I was going to sit outside and relax while it charged.. he proceeded to come over to me and speak to me very nasty and told me I could leave and i don’t need to be here if I was going to argue with him. I was never arguing i just never been here and didn’t know there was a side patio. Very rude and unprofessional and to say the least I don’t feel welcomed here so I probably won’t ever come back if he’s there.

All of my reviews are based on the atmosphere of the coffeeshop, my experience with the staff, and the cortado which is primarily ranked by taste but Ill give points for presentation as well. That being said, Antidote has a nice atmosphere, a big window for natural light, and sort of old, jazz music that I liked. These are probably the only good things I can say about the place. The service was plain, neither exceptional nor disappointing. What was disappointing was the cortado. The drink smelled like something that had been severely burned, and lacked any semblance of coffee, which some may argue is the best part. In addition, the coffee itself was remarkably bitter with a similarly burnt taste. To top it off, it had a plain presentation so there were no bonus points there. Overall, I would not come here again unless someone told me that some other drink was amazing.
