This review has been a long time coming. Lake effect phone repair is literally my go to and most highly recommended shop for iPhone repair and purchase. I have always preferred using refurbished items, as they are generally a bit more affordable.. but after a few bad experiences with ordering from refurbished dealers on eBay (phones in different condition than stated in their description, phones with low quality screen replacements that were pixelated, etc.,) I was on the search for an in person shop to buy refurbished from. I found Lake Effect and was immediately impressed. All of Zaks phones are inspected to make sure that things are in pristine condition. His spirit of excellence has won my trust. When I first purchased my phone, there was a mix up and I was given a phone with the wrong carrier.. as soon as I realized and brought this up to Zak, he immediately exchanged the phone with another and gave me a discount and screen protector for the other phone that I chose. The way that he immediately handled that, and with such stellar customer care, made me gain tons of respect for him. I love my phone, I still have it after about 1.5 years and the battery is still going strong and havent really had any problems. Since purchasing this phone, my mom has purchased one from him and loves it, my sister had gotten some replacements done to her phone as well and they were really affordable and well done, and just a few days ago, I helped a friend to order their refurbished phone from the store as well (through the online ordering option). Zakry was incredibly quick and wonderful to work with; all other shops were quoting me at 5-8 days and substantially more money than Zak. I always put phone repair shops in the same category as a shady used car lot or oil change shop. I generally avoid them and take my phone straight to the Apple Genius Bar for repairs.I found Lake Effect Phone Repair online, their website set them apart and figured I would give it a try. They did not disappoint, I will only take our phones there to be repaired from now on.The owner quickly diagnosed the problem and repaired my phone. I have had similar issues repaired before and this was by and large the least expensive quickest fix. Highly recommend.

My Galaxy S9+ needed the battery replaced. Verizon lists Lake Effect Phone Repair as an authorized repair service (eligible for 100% reimbursement due to my protection plus insurance), so I called to find out pricing and availability. Zakry answered the call immediately and quoted half the price of other repair shops. He was able to get the battery in stock quicker than he originally quoted and let me know I could stop in anytime without an appointment (big plus in my book). An hour after I dropped it off, it was ready to go. Great service, highly recommended!

I took my phone in to Lake Effect to fix what I thought was a faulty charging port on my iPhone X. Instead, Zak simply cleaned out the port and it works as new. About 6 months ago, I was in the Apple Store at the Woodland Mall. I was getting my girlfriend the newest AppleWatch (at the time), and I had been meaning to bring in two other Apple devices that I had been wanting to get repaired for quite some time. One of them, an iPhone X, and the other, an iPad Series 6. The front of the iPhone X had absolutely no problems. No cracks, no scratches, and the touch screen still worked impeccably. However, the back glass on the iPhone X was shattered all over. It looked terrible, and I had even cut myself a couple of times while using it.As for the iPad, whilst moving houses from Richland to Grand Rapids. It slipped out of my hand as I was carrying a load of stuff, and it landed flat on its BACK (Not a corner, not the front/screen part of it, the BACK!) Yet, it still spider-webbed/shattered the entire front of the iPad. I noticed the touch screen still worked, however, you can only slide your fingers on Sharp glass for so long...Anyways, while I’m in the Apple Store getting the new watch for my girlfriend, I remembered that I had actually brought them with me today. The iPhone X was in my pocket, but I had to run out to the car to grab the iPad. I handed the iPhone X to the guy helping me buy the watch, and let him know about the iPad and said I will grab it and be right back. He said he would gladly give me a quote on fixing them. When I got back into the store, iPad in hand, wisely, he had the watch all bagged up and ready for me to pay for that....Then he hit me with the price of what it would cost to fix the iPhone X rear screen, and the iPad’s face screen.“Looks like it would be about $399.99 + tax to get that back screen for the iPhone X all fixed up and pretty for you, so not too bad. As far as the iPad front screen, it looks like that one will only be $299.99+ tax. Have them both looking pretty and brand new.”At this point I’m smiling. Like: Is this guy serious? What kind of an idiot would pay ~$750.00 to repair the back of an iPhone X and the front screen of the 6th generation iPad?, when the 7th generation iPad is on display right next to us for $499.99?” So I laughed out loud at him for a couple seconds and he laughed along, realizing I’m not an idiot, and quickly closed the estimate tabs he had open on his tablet. “That makes no sense at all.”, I told him. He began a pathetic attempt at a rebuttal, but I shut him down by pointing to the newer iPad only being $500.00.Fast forward 6 months, and I’m living in Grand Rapids and pull the two devices out and decide to make some calls to local phone repair places. “Lake Effect Phone Repair” happened to pop up first, so I called them first. For the iPhone X, he quoted me 1/2 of what Apple had quoted me. For the iPad, he quoted me 1/3 of what Apple quoted me. I was surprised, and told him I would call him back. I proceeded to call 7-9 other places, all of which only undercut Apple for between $10.00-$40.00 on each device. Obviously, I called Zak back up and told him I would be bringing my devices by, and he handled the entire business interaction, from start to finish, very professionally. And for only $250, I got both of my devices looking brand new! Would absolutely recommend this place above all else. I would have waited 10 days with Apple. With Zak at Lake Effect Phone Repair, I dropped both devices off to him on a Friday afternoon, and had a missed call, voicemail, and text message from him letting me know that they were both ready for pick up early on Monday Morning. I don’t think anyone in the city of GR could beat his prices, quality, or speediness.I don’t have a picture of the cracked back of the iPhone X, but I do have an after picture.
