I have started my Christmas shopping, I am still a fan of giving books, but not sure if my grandchildren are readers, I asked my granddaughter if she enjoyed reading, and her reply was comic books, so I remembered how my son enjoyed Calvin and Hobbes books, and Schumer Books has a full collection. Get them early as they go off the shelfs fast at Christmas time.

This was my first visit. Lots of books and gifts. Very clean, friendly staff, convenient parking. Enjoyed a coffee and worked in the cafe for a bit after I checked out the aisles of books and gifts. Was a relaxing place to work on the laptop, grab a coffee, and still get out. I plan to go back.

My family and I have been customers of Schuler Books for 30 years. I was excited to introduce my 3 year old grandson to your store today. I will never be back.My grandson was “shopping” for dinosaurs in the children’s area. They are displayed on low shelving easily in reach for children. Yes he was touching the dinosaurs. Yes there were signs stating the dinosaurs where not to be touched unless you were purchasing it. We were planning on purchasing several.Being 3, it was impossible to prevent my grandson from touching many of them. I took him to the restroom and washed his hands for this reason. When we returned, we were greeted by a saleswoman, who obviously had been watching us and anticipated our return. She rudely pointed out the signs and reprimanded me for allowing my grandson to touch the dinosaurs. All the while she was touching them and moving them around! I explained that I had just washed his hands but she wasn’t having it. I picked up my grandson and walked out of the store. Screaming child with no dinosaurs!I understand COVID protocol. I wear a mask and appreciate efforts to keep customers safe. However, rude customer service will not keep customers or your store open. May I suggest hanging a sheet of plexiglass in front of your open shelving in the children’s area.My family has enjoyed this bookstore and cafe for years. Sadly, we will no longer be customers.

Local bookstore. Lots of books and a cafe. Has a huge section of used books. Books for kids are separated by reading/age level. I like going to browse and I always find a new book to read or puzzle to buy. I also love that they have a section for people looking to join or start a book club.

Favorite local bookstore! Always prefer shopping here versus the big chains or Amazon if possible.Pretty good selection, although obviously smaller than the larger chains, but not an issue. Also, despite some of the other reviews, I always appreciated how seriously they took/take the safety of their employees and customers by enforcing mask usage. Ive also always had great interactions with their employees. My only complaint is that I wish they still had their location downtown since the 28th Street location is a little inconvenient for me.Definitely recommend.

Bookstores used to be places where thoughts and intellectualism could flourish. This bookstore is so consumed by its leftist push for indoctrination, that they have forgotten that books are written to encourage independent thought not brainwashed propaganda. This store is set up so that you can only see what THEY deem important. If you love America, love God and believe that ALL lives matter. Dont shop here, I certainly wont ever again!!

As a long time customer of Schuler books, I am a bit saddened and disappointed to say that I will no longer be shopping here due to several inappropriate staff interactions.Today, upon attempting to enter the store, my wife and I were informed that our gators would not suffice as sufficient face coverings. Determined not to make a big deal out of it, we accepted the surgical masks they offered to us and continued into the store. Though this was not a huge deal, the manor in which we were spoken to when told we would not be allowed to enter was a bit shocking. As I browsed the store, I occasionally took a sip of the coffee in my hand, always ensuring to pull the mask up over my face after each drink. The breaking point came when I was in the far corner of the store and took my mask down to take a drink. As the coffee cup was in contact with my lips, an employee approached me and began reprimanding me in a way that was wholly inappropriate and unacceptable. Baffled by the interaction, I was unsure what to say, so I just stared at the employee until she continued to speak to me like a toddler. I informed her that the coffee cup was literally in contact with my lips as she began to belittle me. Either unwilling to apologize for the misunderstanding or intent on taking her anger out on a loyal customer who has spent hundreds of dollars on books over the past few years, she then initiated a sarcasm ridden step by step demonstration of how I need to drink my coffee. To be spoken to like this by another human, nonetheless, an employee of the store, really rubbed me the wrong way. As the employee walked away shaking her head, I decided that there is no need to be subjected to this sort of treatment and left the store. I had a few books in my hands as did my wife. Needless to say, we took our business to Barnes & Noble and Amazon. The store mask mandate despite not being federally or state mandated for vaccinated individuals, I can understand. The odd gator policy, I can understand to an extent. The belittlement and discourteous treatment of a customer, I will not tolerate.

First time going into this bookstore, passed by several times. I figured it was going to be a Barnes and Nobles dobblerganger, I was slightly wrong. Inside does resemble it very much, but they had almost 1/3 of the store that was selling used media in good condition at more then fair prices. Look at the pictures. Take ad-hoc its a $50 book for $15. Great shape too, included dust jacket.

Ive been going to Schulers since it was on the other side of 28th Street and only one story tall. Its always been my favorite refuge from the noise and bustle of my busy life.I brought my grandson here since he was three and the Thomas wouldnt train set has been a favorite attraction. I treat myself to the Chapbook Cafe, where the food is always delicious and the coffee is strong and hot.Now that the pandemic has settled in, the hours are limited and kids cant play with the puppets or stuffed animals--but like most people Im optimistic about the future and I will definitely enjoy Schulers when things get back to normal!

Will never go back. Walked in the door, had my clear clean face mask on. Sitting at the door is the mask inspector, said my mask did not meet there requirements. Must be because they sell books, that has made them mask professionals. Perhaps they should all find some books in their store on the constitution of America, instead of in bracing a socialist dictatorship!! As a fan of their café, they managed to keep open and adapted their menu. The displays are thoughtful and inclusive.
