Overall it was OK. Initially signed up for oil change and 110k maintenance for my Land Rover. Told over the phone it would be a couple hours and I could wait. Several hours later was told it would be another day or two. Eventually approved some additional work that needed attention and kept telling me it would be another day or so. After a full week, finally got the Rover back. Seems like they addressed the issues but just wish they had better estimates for timing. Especially the initial service being told I could wait as Im over an hour away from the shop with no ride that day.

I really trust Community Automotive to work on my Subaru. They are always so professional and take the time to explain the issues. Last week I had an urgent issue and they fit me in and fixed the problem same day! So glad I found this auto shop.

I am a first time BMW X5 owner as a result of a car accident that totaled my F150. I brought my car in for an oil change and a full-on inspection as to what I could expect to go wrong with this vehicle because it is used. Please save yourself the trouble and do not take your car here. The prices are ridiculously high and they are not on time at all. I took my Audi A6 in for a secondary air injection problem and firstly, it took them two days just to get back with the initial diagnostics (and that was after me calling multiple times to see what the progress was). On top of that, they quoted me $4200 to fix something that Audi of Grand Rapids was able to fix for $1600. In addition to all this, before I took my car in I had been driving it totally fine. However when I left the place - and got home and parked my car in the garage there was a massive coolant leak. They did tell me there was a coolant leak before I left and quoted around $1000 to fix it. Audi of Grand Rapids fixed it for $400. Moral of story - just dont make the mistake and go here.

My first experience with them awesome. My TT decided it wanted to stall when ever it wanted to. Our regular service provider was booked for a month. So I called them and they worked me in within the week. They did a great job. They also gave the car a total once over and made suggestions on what needed attention right away and what could wait. Car is running great now and we found our New mechanic to service our Audi.Would suggest them to everyone.

Honest and reliable auto repair and maintenance. Weve had our family car serviced here for years. We recently had them look over a used vehicle we want to purchase. They were very thorough and helpful.

I contacted Community Auto through their website and exchanged some messages with them. I explained that I had a universal muffler without hangers that I wanted installed. They were happy to help me and were able to complete the work in less than a day and for, what I considered, a fair price. I would definitely use them again.

Good work. Had my car for about a month. Kind of pricey three stars because of those reasons quality work, may return for other fixes but definitely will look for cheaper options next time.

Lets talk about why Community is my favorite garage in Grand Rapids. If you own automotive oddballs, generally youre stuck going to your local dealership. Every experience Ive had at my dealership has been a poor one; I know how to wrench on my cars and Ill check over the work I hire out. At Community, every experience has been great. These guys are knowledgeable, fairly priced, and they do quality work. If you have an Italian car dont hesitate to take it here. Highly recommended.

TLDR10/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOPThe communication from this was lackluster all around. I had requested when I dropped my vehicle off on a Tuesday that if we werent able to get to repairs that day, I would need it back at close. 5pm rolls around, no word from the mechanic or shop. So I call the shop to see what the status of the inspection was to find out that the mechanic who had looked at my vehicle had already gone home for the day without bothering to call me to let me know he had finished looking at my vehicle or what needed to be fixed. The employee I talked to had no idea what needed to fixed or done outside of a vague pamphlet that had a checklist that was filled out. He had told me they would call me the next day (Wednesday) with a more accurate quote for what needed to be dealt with along with a quote for some tires. Monday the next week rolls around (6 days after bringing my vehicle in for an inspection and paying cash for it) and still no word. So I call the shop to find out what was going on and ask for a manager to address the issue right then and there. I then get directed to the mechanic who looked at my vehicle and get quickly told he will call me back with a quote. 3 hours later I get an email with a quote. For a shop that has such high ratings and rewards for customer service, Im not sure how they obtained such awards. 10/10 would not recommend this shop to anyone.

I dropped the unit after hours over the weekend. I had never used this shop before so I was nervous. I received communication promptly Monday AM. I authorized the repair and the service was complete Tuesday afternoon. Pricing was reasonable and the work excellent. The staff was very friendly. I will definitely use again if the opportunity comes about.

I have used Community Automotive quite a few times for my Vehicle. They are very professional and do the job right the first time. They are very upfront about prices and stayed in constant contact with me. I will continue to use them.

When it came time to get a new oil pan put on my Volvo wagon due to a previous error from someone elses work, Community Auto really came through. Out of all the shops I called, they gave me the clearest quote, didnt require me to come in and pay for a diagnosis, and laid out all the work they planned to do well ahead of time. When I brought the car in for service, they were friendly and helpful, and the work was done within the day even though I had expected it to potentially take longer. While it cost a bit more than I initially expected to pay, Im very happy with the work that was done, the prompt and friendly service, and I will be returning for future routine maintenance on my vehicle. They were also kind and understanding about a few things I decided to skip on this visit, and kept me apprised of other areas of the vehicle that will need attention in the future. Im very happy with my experience.

Kevin and the team did a great job on our BMW 528i Xdrive. We were heading our of town for the weekend and they expedited the repairs to accomadate us. They are a little pricey on their Labor charges but back it up with a 30K/3yr Guarantee which makes easier to swallow. Thanks guys!

A few years ago we bought a 2003 SAAB 93 Cab that had never seen winter and was stored for 7 years. We are both SAAB nuts and I have owned many. The car had 65k on it and like all b205 and 207 engines are prone to clogged oil pickups. This having low miles I did not have the pan dropped and was going to have it done at 100k. BAD MOVE! at 80k I got a flickering oil light. I searched for a SAAB specialist shop to have the pan dropped and cleaned along with the PCV update. Got the car back and 70 miles later the dreaded oil light. Bearing damage had already occurred but until the engine was run for a time to get to quite hot it was within tolerance. Spoke with Kevin and Todd and bit the Bullitt, time for a new engine. Found a low mileage with a 5 year 5k warranty and had it installed.The car is like new, drives perfectly because of the attention to detail of Community Automotive.They are not the cheapest nor the fastest, they are the best. In the end that is all that matters.

I was charged $200 worth of labor for an Inspection that only takes 20 minutes! Then the Technicians damaged a part on the back on my car, and justified it by blaming me for it! Tried to tell me that integrity is important to them, but screwed me over with this inspection! Never going there again!

I have a 1967 Mustang convertible that Ive had issues with road vibration for about five years now. Ive been to three other shops and not one was able to help. I had heard about Community Automotive and noticed the do work on a lot of classic cars so I decided to stop in one day. They preformed a vibration test and quickly determined what was needed. Kevin, the service manager kept me notified as work was taking place and parts we being located. . A few days before I was to pick up the car, they noticed another issue that needed to be repaired. Kevin told me that theyd have the car done the following Monday, when he found out I had wanted to attend a car show on Saturday, he made an effort to locate the parts needed and to get the car finished by Friday afternoon. When I went to pick it up, Kevin was in the lot washing may car so it was ready for the show Saturday. Im a customer for life. Very professional and honest service. I would highly recommend Community Automotive.

Dave and crew were wonderful! As a woman, it is hard for me to get repairs done on my car without feeling like Im getting ripped off. I needed major exhaust work done on my Subaru but the dealer in town wanted waaaay too much for it. I took it to Dave at Community Automotive Repair and they got it done for less than HALF of what the dealership wanted. It took a little while to get the parts for my car because COVID had affected the companies manufacturing and shipping those parts, but Dave kept me informed on what was going on the whole time and treated me like I knew what was going on. Very much appreciated and highly recommended to anyone looking for good work for a fair price.P.S. The car runs great now. Its much quieter!

High end experience

I made the right choice!I moved back to the Grand Rapids area back in September 2019. Shortly after moving here I bought a new (to me) car. Whenever I get to a new area I look for three specific buisness to become a regular at. A barber, a coffee shop and a mechanic. I did all my research online mainly via reviews and landed on Community Automotive. The first expirience I had was when I brought my car in for an inspection. I did not get one before I bought the car. (Shame on me.) They completed the inspection rather quickly and gave me list of suggestions but did not try to pressure me into getting any expensive work done right away. I ended up coming back a couple months later to go ahead and get that suggested work done. I did everything but the brakes they suggested. Now that leads me to my one and only gripe. I did not get the brakes done because they wanted over $500 just for the front brakes and that seemed high to me. But they completed everything else for me in a nice timely manner. And when I had a small issue relating to the maintenance performed I came back and the adjusted the issue quickly and for free! Kevin specifically is the one who I had the most contact with and he was very helpful.This place has a few horror story reviews, but I learned that in most cases those are retaliation for something the customer probably messed up or misunderstood. And it seems Community Automotive apologized and fessed up to any mistakes they KNOW they made. So dont let those scary 1 star reviews keep you away.All in all, I will probably be returning to this shop as long as the quality of service stays the same!Thanks guys!

I had a strong feeling that the issue with my car was suspension related. The team at Community Auto was very busy so I told them that there was no rush. Turns out that I had a spring broken on the strut. I was given a status several times and an estimate. I have to stop back at the shop before I drive 50 miles so I’m not able to thoroughly test the car yet. Everything feels right at the moment. I’ll check after the holiday. Great team of mechanics and business managers!

I have an aging German sports sedan with myriad issues. One problem was an intermittent and difficult to diagnose engine noise. Community Auto was sensitive to my overall expense, yet thorough and complete in their communication, work up and final solution. All their reps were professional and easy to work with. I felt that fixing my car properly and to my satisfaction were their top priority. Why did it take me so long to try these guys? I would absolutely recommend this shop for anyone looking for quality, timely and transparent auto repair. Plus they’re in the neighborhood and offer loaner cars for $20/day.

I went to C.A.R for an APR Stage 1 tune for my Audi Q5 3.0T. The remapping only took 15-20mins. Which was great because I was quoted an hour to an hour and a half. Todd was very friendly and professional and had me out of there in no time. After the remapping the Q5 is now FASTER than my stock S3! What a difference!

The did not do their basic inspection correctly. Put thr wrong tires on my care. Said they did work that was not done. Scammers not fair to the little guy.

I brought my 1992 mercedes 500 sel inn it had problems with engine and wasnt running at all and they got it diagnosed and fixed very timely above and beyond actually owner himself even went out his way for me a couple times and they also provided me with nice foreign rental car. I had a great experience with Dave when I brought my 2002 BMW X5 here. My headlight went out but the car shop I usually take it to didn’t have an opening for weeks. Two of the windows has also fallen at the same time. I called around different car shops in Grand Rapids before going to Community Auto and am so glad I did! Where other car shops wanted to charge over $100 each just for inspection of the fallen windows, Dave fixed it completely free of charge. And where two other car shops quoted $320 for fixing the broken headlight, I paid half this at Community Auto. I’ll be coming back!

Have used these guys for the last year since moving to West Michigan, referred by a long-time Grand Rapids resident and auto enthusiast. Theyve worked on my 2008 Lexus GX70 as well as two cars that arent the easiest to diagnose/fix, a 2006 Mercedes CL55AMG and a 2007 Maserati Quattroporte. Their work is excellent, customer service very responsive and prices are fair. Cant recommend Dave and Kevin and crew enough.

I bought a very rare Audi in Grand Rapids, and within hours of buying it, it left me stranded on the highway jsut outside of town. A friend recommended these guys so we had it towed there. The car is imported so parts were hard to get, but they worked with me to find it overseas. Their communication was consistent and I always knew what was going on even though I was home in MA. They quickly diagnosed the issue to the electric fuel pump and didnt do anything unnecessary. They fit me in the schedule and even were patient for me to organize getting the car shipped. I really cant say enough about how positive this experience was. Thanks Dave!

Worked with Todd to get an APR tune in a vehicle i had just purchased. After spending an hour patiently waiting Todd smiles and tells me he had great news. He proceeded to tell me that the car already had a tune from previous buyer and he updated all of my files just in case. He could have easily took my $1,600 and pretended that he simply tuned it. Beyond great work finding honest people makes for such a great experience. Loved all points of contact with community and will never hesitate to use them again.

The service I experienced for my 2005 Volvo XC90 at Community Automotive Repair was excellent. Todd and Kevin were professional and explained the parts and work required for my vehicle in clear detail. The office and waiting room were clean and welcoming. I give them 5 stars due to the fact that my Volvo required numerous parts and diagnosis yet they were able to finish sooner than I expected. Ive come here two times. The first time, I was satisfied. The most recent time, not so much. My car was having some engine start issues, which they diagnosed as an O2 sensor. I was charged $600 for an O2 sensor repair that did not fix the issue. I was told that the car started fine the first time and then the next time didnt. Was then recommended that I pay $350 more for spark plugs and wires. Upon picking my car up, my drivers side door would not open and my parking brake light was on. Neither of these were issues that I had before I brought the car in. It seems that the diagnosing process was simply checking the electronic codes. There didnt seem to be any additional problem solving. I spoke with the owner regarding these issues. The response wasnt satisfactory given the fact the my car came out in worse condition. I requested a refund of the diagnosis fee ($120). They wouldnt give me the full refund, but gave me $70.My Advice: Do your research before you take your car in to this shop. Look at other shops first and have a general idea of part costs (An O2 sensor should not be $220. I get that that is the OEM price, but most Bosch O2 sensor were going for $80). From reading the reviews, I am not the first one who had they car in worse shape after they had it repaired.

The folks at Community Auto were very professional and solved my issue right away. They also charged me $400 less than what the dealer had quoted for the same repair job. Ill definitely continue to use their excellent service.

I called to say that I needed a transmission flush, and immediately the gentleman on the other end wanted to make sure it was a legitimate need and not somebody taking advantage of me. He said first we will check to see if it’s needed, then IF it’s needed the price will be xxx to xxx. It ended up being $14 less than the lowest number he gave me. When has that ever happened at a mechanic? I will definitely be a repeat customer.

In late August, I needed to get some work done on my car. Auto shops have always made me feel uneasy, as I know next to nothing about cars, and consequently would have little idea if I was being ripped off. Thankfully, a friend recommended Community Auto, and I couldnt be happier with his recommendation. The people at Community Auto have a knack for clearly communicating whats going on with a car, and in the month and a half that Ive now been dealing with them, Ive never once felt misled. As long as I live in Grand Rapids, Ill be bringing my cars to Community Auto and recommending them to anyone in search of an honest and competent auto shop.

Todd and his crew are outstanding! They flashed an APR Stage I on my b9 A4 and I couldn’t be happier. I fully plan on making the drive up from Kazoo to have future work done on it.

Community Automotive Repair is an excellent repair shop! My girlfriend and I each bring our vehicles there and the staff does great work at a fair price. I am a graduate student with limited funds and the folks there always do the job right the first time around. I have mainly interacted with Todd but the whole staff seems to be of high quality.My most recent service was a transmission fluid exchange with filter replacement, plus I had them inspect & adjust the serpentine belt in my 2004 Forester. I dropped it off for my 8 am appointment and they had it finished well before they closed at 5:30 on the same day. My Subaru now runs better and shifts cleaner than ever since I bought it secondhand this past September. I even made an appointment next week for a complete brake service and have full confidence in their abilities and advice.Overall they are a great local shop who take the time to understand your needs and budget. I would definitely recommend them!
