We were visiting from out of town and had some issues with our brakes. It was a Saturday, so most other places were closed, but the guys at the 28th street Midas got us in right away and took care of what ended up being a parking brake issue. The cost was reasonable and the service was fast. Would highly recommend them.

I am not from Grand Rapids, but needed my brakes done. I found Midas in the Yellow Pages; called and scheduled an appointment without a problem. The gentleman on the call was very patient and calm (Paul) as he answered my questions.After arriving for my appointment and getting 1st class service, even during the pandemic, everything was handled with the expected timing and the service was outstanding.Because I am from the south, the hospitality at this location was such an ideal experience. I knew I needed brakes and shocks when they called and said I needed brakes lines as well. Two days later I called to find out the status of my car. They said they brake lines werent available and they had to call the Kia disgruntled and they would do that that day. Two days later I again called. This time the were on a back order. Ok I get that but in the meantime I really need my car. So they said they would fix the brakes and shocks put the old brake lines on and when the new c brake lines came call me and immediately replace it plus give me a discount b from 2000$ to 1500$. That seemed great. However when I arrived the brake lines were not listed. The discount was about 150$ and yes I paid only 1500$ but I feel like they were trying to rip me off telling me I needed new brake lines. I will not be returning back.

Very clean well organized, showed me my exact problem, but offered different options. Fair on price points as well. Coupons offered online as well might help your case. I would definitely recommend and return.

This place is a total rip off I was charged for new calipers, rotors, pads, and brakelines however this vehicle still doesn’t so properly. The calipers even caught fire but only one was replaced. Ive returned the vehicle six times and things havent changed. Please just take you vehicle to the dealer.

I have been taking my vehicles here for years. Alan is superlative with customer service and Ive shifted all of my vehicle maintenance from the dealerships to Midas. Well done Midas!!!

I use Midas specifically for their great warranties. I had my muffler replaced here and it broke at the weld. I crawled under there and looked. The muffler is fine, piping is fine, the weld broke. They told me that labor is not included in the warranty and I would need to pay to have it welded back on. They didnt care to inspect the car to see if its a bad weld or anything, just told me its not covered.CHECK YOUR WARRANTIES!

My daughter recently moved to Grand Rapids and I was visiting her. Her car was making a terrible noise and she wasnt sure where to take it. We decided on this place. What a wonderful experience. Al was extremely pleasant. They were right on time. Nick came out and took us to look under her car. The muffler area was caked in mud. He cleaned it out as much as possible suggested that we get an under body wash and they sent us on our way with no charge. What a great first intro to getting service in Grand Rapids. Was treated like royalty. They had a professionalism that is hard to find in todays business. Will continue to support this shop and the people it employs. Not to mention the lobby is very nice so even if you do not need any automobile work done maybe bring your significant other here on a date and check the place out.

I made a mistake and went to the Muffler Man down the street from Midas on 28th St in Kentwood thinking that I was at the right business. I talked to the staff member at Muffler Man and he didnt even say good morning or anything. He acted like he didnt even want us there. My daughter and I realized the mix-up and came in this morning for my appointment at 2710 28 St. Paul H. was the clerk and he was perky and friendly as soon as I came in. It was really a breath of fresh air. His communication style is exactly what I like and expect with any business. The store was clean and professional looking. I saw a diverse staff working in the car bays also. They inspected my car and took care of me within 20 minutes. What I thought was wrong with my car wasnt as bad as I expected. I really appreciate honest people. I will switch to this location for all my needs. Thank you-- thank you-- thank you for taking care of your customers and being friendly. Im a business owner myself and this is exactly how I want my employees to greet the general public.

Went to get oil change. When oil change was complete the tech brought the car out and hit the front bumper on the curb. Tech came out to look at car and claims its old damage. Asked for manager and they only had an acting manager onsite who wanted to put car back in garage to look. You can clearly see the damage without having to put the car in the garage.Also quoted me $86 for oil change and when it was complete tried charging me another $10.Definitely would not recommend. Poor customer service!!!

I’d give them my business any day!I went in sept 4th on a day off to have some custom exhaust work done on my Durango. I’d been to a couple other places that morning to try to get the work done, they were rude and turned me off. I shouldn’t say it but I called Midas as a last resort, I spoke with Alan and he said he could get me right in. I arrived and waited less than 5 minutes and my vehicle was brought in and on the hoist! All were very friendly and I got out in a half hour at a good price, they did a very professional job. Thank you Alan and hats off to your mechanic ( sure wish I’d have gotten his name) on an excellent job! Your shop will no longer be my last resort!

Tried to get an appointment online, but got an email in ALL CAPS to call to make an appointment which was weird. Called while I was at work but whoever answered gave me attitude about requesting a service for 4:45pm. Yes I know you close at 6, but youre website quotes around an hour for the service so I thought it would be okay, but boy was I wrong. Im sorry thats when I work till and cannot get off early most days, I would have tried to get another day scheduled but he was being quite short with me and didnt offer to come in another day that week. Im sure the guy will claim he wasnt short with me and thats whatever but Id rather shop around then deal with the attitude.

Good service, wish they listened better. When I brought my car in to diagnose brakes I asked them to rotate the tires. They said, No problem, well already have the tires off so its the easiest thing in the world to rotate them.Then they didnt do it. I thought to myself: Well I only paid a $30 diagnostic fee, maybe they want to make sure they get me in for the big bill before they throw in a free tire rotation.I came back a week later to get the actual brakes replaced and repeated my request to have the tires rotated. Again the office rep assured me it was no problem, no added cost, simple and theyd take care of it.And again, they didnt do it. Even when Im paying them more than $600, the free tire rotation they promised me twice isnt worth their time.The new brakes seem fine, but I expect a Midas shop to competently install brakes. You only get 3 stars for competence.

Dishonest crooks. Damaging cars. I would rather chew off my own arm before bringing them anything I own. I highly recommend NOT wasting your time dealing with the incompetence of the 3 staff members I dealt with. You have been warned !!!

SO HAPPY, I came in today to have my brake pads changed! Both Allen, and Matthew were SO polite and curious. They got me in right away when I was in a pinch, assessed where my breaks were at and made the needed repairs while keeping my budget in mind! So many times when you walk into a repair shop, the technicians will pressure you into getting more done than necessary so you spend more. I didn’t feel that way once. While I was waiting for my car, 2 customers had checked out and and gave many praises to Allen at the front desk about their services and quality of work. It feels good to have a shop so close to home that I feel like I can trust, and I know other trust as well!Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I was impressed by how quickly and how nice they were. Unfortunately, filling my washer fluid was missed in the package I had, but overall first experience was wonderful. I was given a thorough explanation of what all was going to be done with my car and what all qas included in my cost. I appreciated that I wasnt treated as a woman who knows nothing about her car, instead I was treated respectfully. I plan to go back very soon.

I brought my car in to have the exhaust fixed which had broken off in one area. The service writer was very polite and not pushy. He showed me that most of my exhaust looked great, as it was stainless steel. However the flanges that held the exhaust in place had rusted, causing the exhaust to break. He explained he could replace it, which would be quite expensive, or he could take out the damaged area and weld in some pipe. He said the rest of the exhaust looked okay, so he recommended the cheaper version. In my experience, most people would have tried to sell me on replacing the whole thing. Very happy with my experience. And my vehicle doesn’t sound like an airplane anymore.. that’s a plus!!

These people are great. I came in close to the end of the day and asked if they had time to do an oil change, tire rotation and put in a new brake light. Not only were they super nice about squeezing me in at the end of the day, they completed all of that in like 15 minutes. Highly recommend.

I brought my vehicle to a different company and spent several thousands of dollars for my problem to NOT be solved. Tried bringing it back to them only to be told I need to spend more money to have the same procedure done again.Long story short I brought my van to Midas and the fixed my problem the very first time and for much cheaper than the other shop. I am so grateful.

My car had to be towed in because it would not accelerate. The guys at Midas went above and beyond to make sure they were honest and helpful with the repairs. They discovered the repair that was needed was outside of what they were capable of repairing. They waived the diagnostic fee and were more than happy to let my car hang out at the shop until I was able to make it back into town to pick it up and bring it to another shop!

These guys are dishonest! Not only they charged more than quoted on their website, didnt accept my Uber discount but also installed tires with lower spec than requested and paid for. Really upset!

Allen, on 28th Street always takes good care of us. Hes very good at explaining whats needed before he goes ahead with the work... thats always appreciated.

Had brake work done my car and was leaving the store car started shaking so i was turning around go back to the shop was in the road i lost back left back tire got in their driveway and lost the right back tired .trying to stop i did a 360 before i stop it did damage to driver back side

You can get a fairly reliable but overpriced oil change. I think car repairs outside of that, they will charge you an arm and a leg for. Additionally, Ive gotten my car back twice with problems I didnt have before. Rather than fixing the issue they claimed it couldnt have been their fault because they were not working on that area of the vehicle. Sloppy work.

I love midas. I have been coming here since I first moved to gr. Jesse has been my mechanic since. Through all the cars my husband and I have had he always knew what to do. I just want to point out that 2 of the negative reviews are not even for Midas, but for Suburban Saturn/Suburban Auto. Not sure why they were linked to Midas. I dont know what someone was talking about an $85 charge just to look at their car, because I know they do many inspections for free. Sure, they charge to diagnose and test certain things, but if it takes them an hour to test wiring and computers to make sure the right part is being replaced, I dont see a problem with that. Every shop Ive seen does that, aside from just pulling a code.

Despite having to invest more money into my automobile, my experience at this Midas location was outstanding. Excellent customer service and a great team to have work on your vehicle.

I was taking my daughter out for a day of fun when I heard a thump and then something went wrong with the brakes on my car. I quickly pulled into this location. Where I encountered Jessie and explained to him what happened. He told me that they would get it right in and see what was going on. The bolt on my passenger side caliper came out, which caused it to jam my brakes. He told me that they would get it fixed up for me. They had me in and out in under a hour. They were amazing and we were able to continue our day of fun. We will defiently be back to have any work done in the future.
