I had very positive experience. The new owner Kevin Lyle is very kind and professional. Also the mechanic that worked on my vehicle. Did everything he could to find the source of my problem in a timely manner. The prices are reasonable. They do not waste time or add on unnecessary charges or repairs. Kevin did a good job of explaining my vehicle situation. Honestly they not only care about getting it right. They also care about their customers. I would absolutely recommend AAMCO to anyone in need of a dependable auto repairs πŸ’― Thanks again to all of you.

Took my car in for a diagnostic to see why my engine was idling rough, and they took very good care of me! The owner was very nice and took the time to chat while the mechanic was doing excellent work changing out my spark plugs. Also, the restroom and waiting area were clean and neat. I would definitely recommend this location if you need car repairs.

All I have to say is KEVIN IS AWESOME!! I can’t even tell you how appreciative I am for ALL his and his mechanics help! Long story short my transmission supposedly blew in Maryland. I went to a local auto shop and they overcharged me for a transmission. Not only did they have my car for over week, the check engine was on when I picked it up. They said it was the valve body and wasn’t a big deal. Since I was coming back to Maryland in a few weeks they said I can still drive the car to Charlotte and they would replace it when I got back... BIG MISTAKE! My transmission went again traveling to Charlotte while 6 months pregnant with a 14month year old. After realizing theses people wouldn’t return my calls I had to get another transmission with AAMCO. I found out before replacing my transmission with AAMCO that I had a salvage transmission and work that was supposed be done by the old mechanic WAS NOT DONE! Kevin had a lot of compassion about my situation. My transmission was straight from the Nissan dealer and my car is driving PERFECT!!

Kevin and his team are great to deal with. Had a couple trips to the local dealerships in Hickory for car trouble and after ridiculous estimates and diagnosis I decided to drive to Gastonia and go to a trusted name like Aamco. Kevin is very kind and professional and genuinely cares about servicing your vehicle to your satisfaction. I recommend anyone who needs their vehicle serviced bring it to Aamco of Gastonia and let them handle it. Its hard to find a mechanic you can trust, but look no further. Thank you to Kevin and your team for the excellent work and attentiveness.

I went here because I blew my transmission in my 05 mustang and was looking for someone to replace it with one I had already purchased. They gave me a price of $600+ So when I called another local β€œMillers transmission” they gave me a price of $350 and had it done in about 2 days. If you need transmission work I would avoid this place due to high prices. However they did look at it for free just to confirm what I already knew.

Dont understand why people have given this place such lengthy bad reviews but I guess to each their own. I stopped in today to get my AC checked after it being out for about 3 months and the man working who seemed to be the manager was incredibly gracious and helpful !! He was concerned about my children having to be in the heat with no AC in my car and even spoke to my husband who does all the mechanics on my car and informed him of everything that was going on. I was told that I was either have to leave it there or come back. This is our only car and I had to take off work to get it done. The guy just didnt car. There was no attempt to make it right. He simply asked me if I wanted to set up an appointment. I told him that I will find someone else. The is the worst customer service that I have ever had and I refuse to do business with someone like this. The sad part is that they had a loyal customer until now.

To start off with I had removed the transmission from my truck to replace the clutch, and am extremely mechanically inclined, however due to some back problems and lack of tools i was not able to get the transmission back in the truck by myself. So I had my truck towed to this location on a Saturday morning and was informed that I would get a call when it arrived. I never received the call. When i did call to make sure it had arrived I was told it had and they were pulling it in as we speak that it would be no later than Monday afternoon that I would have my truck back. I then received a call Monday afternoon that I needed some additional parts and that it would be roughly $300.00 for the parts. Being well versed in mechanics i knew this was drastically higher than what it should be. After very little research I found that the parts were only about $140.00 total. I informed the receptionist of this and she told me Thats just what it tells me I have to charge you. I found this absurd so I purchased the parts myself, took time off work Tuesday to take them up to the shop and dropped them off. At this point I was told the truck would be done by that afternoon and they would call me. By 4:30pm that afternoon I had not heard from anyone so I contacted the office and was told that they were just running a little behind and needed to install a clutch line ( roughly 30 mins of work worst case). i drove up to the office at 5:45pm expecting my truck to be done, and as i pulled in i see my truck on the lift and many of the parts still on the ground. I went in and spoke with the manager who informed me that They would stay late to finish my truck and would call me. Shortly after I watched the manager leave and never received a call. As of this morning Wednesday at 9:00am I still have not heard from them. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION. They will overcharge you and play games

I take my vehicles there for alignments because they give a discount if you bought your tires from discount tire. This last time I took my Acura in for an alignment, later that night I ran over a curb in a dark parking lot pretty hard, knowing I had to have knocked it out of alignment. Well I called the Manager to ask to see if they could check it out for me, and not only did they re-align my car, they didnt charge me for it. Excellent service, and I will definitely be back in the future.

I had my transmission repaired last week and was extremely happy with the customer I received. The new owner Aaron made sure I got a ride to work when I dropped off the truck. I expected to be out of service for a week or so, but they had my transmission replaced with a new unit and ready to roll in 4 days. The 3 year warranty was the best in town. I plan to start using aamco for all my future repairs.

DONT EVER GO HERE!!! first off they will be so nice to you and helpful. they may even give you a discount price. thats just to get you into the door. but give it time...after a month or so of car issues and the business we brought them they completely changed!! we had brought them our car and they told us they will get to it as soon as possible. given that they were quick in the past we did not think anything of it. after it sitting in the same spot for 2 WEEKS! my husband called and asked them the status of it. they said quote we dont work for free. if you dont pay us we wont even look at it! we didnt even know we had to pay anything up front it was always after the work was done!! and they didnt even tell us they werent going to look at it they just let it sit there when we could of had it looked at and fixed elsewhere!! my husband then went up there to get the vehicle and the owner Aaron was very rude and hostile towards him! claiming they can refuse business to anyone, well why didnt they say that instead of taking it in and telling us they will look at it?!?! PLEASE DO NOT EVER GO HERE!!! IT IS A HORRIBLE PLACE!!

I was shocked when I received the bill for my truck. I purchased a new radiator for my truck from a different company and took it to Ammco for them to install. They did a good job installing the radiator but were unable to complete the installation of the wiring for the electric radiator fan. I had to order a new water neck off of the internet with a port for the temperature sensor. The water hose they had installed would not work on the new water neck. I asked if I could return the radiator hose since it was just installed and was told no. The price of the installation was about double what I thought it would be. I was charged $67.96 for a water hose that is $24.00 at Autozone. I was charged $24.98 for 2 quarts of antifreeze and $380.00 for labor. With other parts my total bill was $569.81. This is with me supplying a radiator that cost me $300. Needless to say I will not be doing business with these people in the future. If you do hold on to your wallet.

I had a tire rotation done at Discount Tire and they suggested an alignment because of the tire wear. Ask who they suggested and they said I would get a discount if I went to this Aamco. They gave me a printed coupon which showed both regular price and discount. Come to find out later that even the discount price was much higher than the going rate. I don’t like to wait so I called Aamco and they could get me in. When I got there the guy said he had a transmission job in the rack and had to look a another car after that. Asked me to come back in an hour or so and he may be finished. Small place and he looked like the only one there. The place looked runned down and the waiting area was horrendous. I’m not against small mechanic shops but with the deceptive pricing and falsehood about when he could start work, I went somewhere else. Note, I didn’t give a 1 because I have no clue on the quality of work.

After being told that my transmission merely needed a 400 dollar clutch, I gave them the go ahead to repair my transmission. When I got to the shop when it was done, the bill was 3,984 dollars. They replaced my entire transmission for no reason, saying that I Burned it up. For those of you who dont know, you cannot burn up a manual transmission unless you are running it with no fluid, let alone simultaneously burn up a transmission, snap a input shaft, and destroy a clutch as they told me. I got stuck with the bill. DO NOT GO HERE! I am an ASE certified technician, so you know where I am coming from.

I would like to give a positive review anywhere I do business, but I certainly cannot for this shop. New clutch, inspection of: tranny, transfer case, and both diffs. Replaced all fluids which i bought myself, thankfully! Tranny was fine, though I had them reseal it, and new bearings in rear diff, but at an extremely high cost. They kept on promising to get it done that day the entire time it was in the shop, but every time I called or stopped by, they were working on something else, or ordered the wrong part AGAIN. Although their transmission specialist is truly good at what he does, the rest of their profession is a joke. Now my truck is an extremely common 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 manual transmission. It started out a 2-3 day job, and ended up being 2 weeks! My rental car bill was over $800, and for their service, I got a $5,600 bill and a broken side mirror. Truck still isnt right, high whine coming from the rear diff which they dont seem to really care about. Their computers dont work, and will only print out some of your warranty paperwork, which is only a measely 12,000 mi, which they try hard not to warranty. You can never get Mike(the manager) to call you, or talk to you about anything, or the secretary will make excuses for him. They wont let you talk to the owner, or give you his phone #.When the truck finally did come out of the shop, my drivers side tow mirror was broke. I understand accidents happen, but wait. They ordered a new mirror, then lost that one. Mike told me to buy a mirrior and he would pay for it, so I tried to do them an honest favor and shopped around to find the best deal. Instead of a $350 mirror, I found it for $178, which saved them some money. But its been 4 weeks and they are back to playing their Hide and Seek games, and I doubt if I will ever get my money back on that. I will not not recommend this shop to anyone. They might have gotten me now, but they sure lost my business for the future, and the rest of my rigs. I paid them good money, all in CASH, but the word PROFESSIONAL doesnt exist here.STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP!

Took my 2007 Nissan Titan to AMMCO in Gastonia. Mark Burk manager found internal trans-oil cooler leaked antifreeze into transmission and fried it. Mark quoted 7000$ for re-manufactured trans, radiator and external trans-oil cooler. Nissan Gastonia quoted 5100$ 12000 mi warranty. AMMCO gave 36 month unlimited miles. Went with AMMCO with upgrade all aluminum radiator for additional 300 dollars. When I picked up truck New manager Mike Allen did not install agreed on radiator and would only warranty one which was sent from Engine Transmission Exchange, their daughter company Global Powertrain Systems didnt have one. I was given a choice of using ETEs or no warranty. Needed truck so I agreed. My truck had oil stains on both seats and blew a radiator hose on way home due to hose clamp not being put on hose, and was missing trans dipstick retaining nut. Transmission redlined RPMs and found no external oil cooler installed. Mike ordered and installed external trans-oil cooler. Transmission overheated on vacation. Mike replaced transmission and 2 weeks later truck started making popping noises in forward, reverse and braking. Went to AMMCO and still another new manager and crew said front differential needed to be rebuilt at 900 to 1100 $. Transmission lines were also leaking which I had to by hydraulic lines for because they didnt have money to purchase because Auto Zone didnt stock. That is the business they have an account with. Tech went to NAPA to buy. Took truck to Miller Transmission and they found the cross member mounting bolts hand tight and torqued them and popping stopped. Also found trans-lines going into radiator then the external trans-oil cooler. This configuration would cause the possibility of antifreeze being able to leak into the transmission again. Miller Transmission said the proper sized external trans-cooler would eliminate the problem. When I contacted Mike Allen at Lexington store now he said he was told by ETE to do this and he wasnt going to change a thing, I wanted the owners name and number and he refused to give it to me. Miller said it would have cost me 3200 dollars at their store. They didnt even charge me to tighten the cross member. Tony Hardin very displeased
