Our experience with this dealership was enjoyable. Usually the purchase of a car is less than desirable… Believe it or not, there was no high-pressure sales and the team was respectful and courteous, especially Michael Waldo who was the salesperson who assisted our family. Michael was responsive, transparent and extremely professional. I highly recommend him. Although this is not a large dealership, we got the same quality of service as one of the big shops. Thanks, Michael, and the Keith Hawthorne team!

Just purchased a 2021 Hyundai Sonata Limited with all the bells and whistles. This is the second Sonata that my husband and I have purchased from Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Gastonia since 2014. Our first Sonata was an amazing car, still is an amazing car. We just wanted to upgrade to a newer model. We have nothing but good things to say about this dealership, their employees and or course the Hyundai Sonatas. We have had two very good experiences with this dealership and their employees. Everyone we came in contact with, especially the two in sales who assisted us in our search were extremely nice and knowledgeable. I wish I could recall their names. Oh and the financial guy who went over the contract with us, found that a rebate had been left off and added it in. That was a $2,000 rebate! My hope is that the dealership may see this review and give a shout out to the two gentleman who worked sales and the guy in finance (he should be easy to find, hes a dookie fan.... Anyway, those 3 gentlemen deserve a pat on the back and a bonus for job well done. Id let to let the three employees mentioned know how much we appreciated their time and assistance. Oh and get this, because we are repeat customers, they gave us a really good deal on our trade-in... I dont usually give reviews, but if you are considering a new or used vehicle, you really should check out Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Gastonia.

He offered to help with whatever I wanted. The process was easy. The financing team put a deal together for me and I’m happy with my purchase.

I purchased my car new in 2020 and was informed that it had regular maintenance covered for the first three years. When I went to get my car serviced I was told they were checking to see why the company had not honored the agreement. I watched as other people were told their service was no charge but when it came to mine, I had met all the mileage and date deadlines but I was charged. When I asked why I was simply told that I met all the qualifications and they were working on it. Well I bought it July, 2020 they have had over a year to work on it. They still cant answer why despite all of the correspondence, etc. from the company Keith Hawthorne cant honor the agreement. As a widow that works full time plus to honor all of my obligations, I really feel cheated.

I had a issue with the paint on the hood of my Sonata. They dealership work thru Hyundai and arraigned to have my hood painted by their local body shop. It was a great jester on their part an as a repeat customer, Keith Hawthorne has always been great with the customer service and helpful with any issue I’ve had. I will return the next time I need another car. Great dealership!

I purchased a used SanteFe Ultimate a couple years back that only had 18,000 miles on it and was advised that it still had the warranty on it. Over the last 3 months, Ive had 2 engines blow. and my mileage is only at 69,000 miles. The 1st time was when I found out that the warranty that Keith Hawthorne provided wasnt a Hyundai warranty but a substitute. This being the case, I was advised that I had to have the car towed back from SC to NC so that the dealership that provided the warranty had to repair the vehicle. The motor was replaced with a refurbished motor. 3 weeks later, the motor blew again so its been sitting at a Hyundai dealership for the last 4 weeks and Ive been without a loaner for 4 weeks and was advised that the warranty didnt cover a loaner. Ive had to deal with the warranty people, the parts supplier and 2 dealerships, all of which are giving me the run around. Another refurbished motor will be shipped within 5 days, then it has to be installed. This will put me without a vehicle for 6-8 weeks and no loaner in sight. You would expect that a vehicle with only 18,000 miles when purchased, would still be under the Hyundai warranty. All I can say is that when purchasing a used vehicle from this dealership, be sure to check what type of warranty you have.The dealership asked me to call them, which I have. Ive had to leave 2 messages with no response. I guess they just responded to show that they were taking the concern seriously, which it seems that they arent.

I really enjoy getting my car serviced at Keith Hawthorne Hyundai. They are quick and efficient. I don’t end up waiting 3 hours for an oil change at other places. It’s easy to get an appointment when needed. Also I can bring my computer and work while waiting on my car. I also don’t have to worry about being hounded by sales people to trade my car while there to get service like I have at other Hyundai dealerships. I will continue to service my car at Keith Hawthorne as long as I own it.

Stopped in today on a whim searching for a Venue. They had exactly the model I wanted in the lot. Took a bit to get a salesperson but Dalton stepped up and helped me. Quick and easy to schedule an appointment for an oil change. Others were too back up to get me in a hurry due to an unexpected long distance trip. Staff was very courteous. Highly recommend driving the extra few miles to this location to avoid the lack of response and support from the dealership I purchased my Ioniq from in Matthews.

Sal and Taylor went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. They arent easy to get on the phone but the level of service far out weighs that inconvenience. And, as busy as they are, I understand why the phone isnt top priority. They stood by their word and made things right in my unusual circumstances. When my car broke down half way cross country from home, stranding me and my toddler, Sal was the one person that gave me any peace of mind and made me think things would be ok. After days of stress, he came up with a plan and I left for home knowing my car would be in good hands, and it was. (And Hailey was always patient with my phone calls.) This review right here is long over due! I personally would recommend this car dealership to any and everybody. Me being a first time buyer I was nervous on which car I was gonna get and how much my note would be etc. The staff at this company made it so easy for me to get a new 2020 hyundai venue without multiple hard inquiries on my credit score. Mett was awesome he was answering all questions I had and was willing to work with me on my needs. James was amazing too!! the sweetest person Ive ever encountered he truly wanted me to get a bang for my buck! He even sat on the phone for 53 minutes trying to get me my car after another car dealership tried to block the deal. They go above and beyond to get you what you want without harassing you. Then they always make sure they ask you is this what you want before going through with anything. I HIGHLY recommend this dealership for first time, second time and even people who wanna trade in their car. They gave me the most money for my 2009 ford focus and I left with a brand new 2020 with no down payment and the most affordable car payments, and the lowest interest rate ever and then they always call to follow up and see how you and your car are doing and schedule wellness checks on your car to maintain its life. I absolutely loved everyone that worked with me and I will be back again to get another one. I hope if any of you go get either Mett, James and Chris was nice too! But Mett and James are the key to the foundation! THEY WERE AWESOME! I am inlove with my car. :)

Worst service experience ever. I made an appointment today at 10am to get an oil change and NC inspection. Arrived at 9:58am just to find out that it will take 1:45 hours to get it done. That is unacceptable what is the point of creating an appointment then. Went to a different dealer and was out of the door in 30 minutes. Time is of the essence no business will schedule a client to come at 10am and then get to them 1:45 later.

We worked with Christian to buy our Jeep Grand Cherokee. Christian was incredible and made sure we were treated right and got anything we needed in a vehicle. My only criticism is that we didnt get our gas tank filled before we left the dealership and we had to fill up to finish the drive to Winston Salem.

I purchased a used truck from Keith Hawthorne Hyundai. The sales experience was okay. Normal sales pitch and negotiating tactics one would expect. Nothing out of the norm. The salesman was nice and personable. I had emailed and received a response from one of the managers. When I arrived, the manager quickly took over and pitched the sale and did all the negotiation. I ended up purchasing the truck. When I got home, I realized that I was missing something that was supposed to have come with the truck. Thats when the customer service ended. The manager was no where to be found and the salesman, while, polite did not follow-up or follow-through. Come to find out the manager is not even an employee of the dealership. I have no idea who he is but assuming he was a consultant/contractor of some sort. Keep in mind this used truck I bought cost more than any brand new vehicle they had for sale there. Very disappointed in the lack of follow-up and follow-through. Once the sale is finalized, dont expect any further service unless you plan on buying something else from them.

I have updated my review from 3 stars to 1 star. I purchased my car in June 2021 and as of today, (26 August 2021) I still HAVE NO Registration. I have called over 22x times, Ive been hung up on or or either promised to be called back with only receiving call backs 4xs. I spoke with the reception and asked to be transferred to Mike Grayson, only to be placed on hold and never transferred. I do not live in the area, and had to fly here with my own money to get answers. I have spoken to Justin (JD), Tim Henderson, all with promises to rectify this and nothing. I was pulled over by a police officer and told my registration was still under my old vehicle that I had traded in. I am supposed to upload my new registration by 29 August 2021 to avoid being fined. I am extremely frustrated and wish I had NEVER purchased this car at this dealership.

My name is Phillip, I purchased a slightly used vehicle from here and during the sales process the service decent. I have owned my vehicle for less than 3 months and I had a censor go out so I of course brought it up to the place I bought it for service. Once the service department had my vehicle not only did they not inform me that they would be keeping my vehicle for almost 2 days, I was charged over $500 for labor to replace a part that only cost $80. Once I picked up my vehicle I realized that my sunroof and rear window stopped working. I brought my vehicle back to them and was told that they didn’t have anything to do with it and it’s not their problem. But both worked just fine before I brought it in there. I have been unsuccessful in reaching and or hearing back from a so called manager to discuss this issue. Their service department’s customer service is by far the worst I have come across. Shane did nothing but give me excuses, showed no empathy for the situation at all. I would not recommend anyone take their vehicle here for service. As long as you are buying something from them they will treat you great but once your purchase is completed don’t expect any type of customer service from them.

Its a well-made, reliable car and the warranty cannot be beat.Understanding the car market is tight right now, it frankly can be hard to find the Hybrid in stock. To that end, I went to the Hyundai on-line marketplace and the Consumer Reports True Car sites.In the process, something surprised me; Hyundai dealerships dont seem too interested in talking with one another about inventory. If they dont have a car on the lot, they wont ask other dealerships about getting one for you.That will require some work on the internet. I went with Consumer Reports and Costco Car Purchasing Service. Id hoped it would be more efficient and straight-forward.After finding a car they listed for sale and available, I emailed Keith Hawthorne Hyundai. I was careful to specifically reference the vehicle they have listed online.I confirmed with them via email it was still available and on the lot. In fact, I believe I asked to speak with the sales rep who had been emailing me.Salespeople generally get paid on commission; I dont know if thats true with Hyundai. But since the person had been emailing me back-and-forth about a specific car or cars, I thought it only fair to make sure they got paid or credit for their time and effort.I also figured it would be faster, since theyd already aware of the model, make, color, accessories, etc.The person who answered the phone informed me, We dont have that car.When I tried to explain the emails back-and-forth and process thus far, his response was, Well, I didnt tell you that.”He added, “I’m the manager of the shop. I am very satisfied with the G80 that I purchased. However I was promised a spare tire that was missing. Two months later and numerous calls I am still driving to Charlotte and back every day with no spare. Finance manager Christian Hicks says he wants his used car guy to get one for free meanwhile I have no spare and a huge void in my trunk preventing me from using my trunk. I will not purchase another car from here. I guess I will buy my on spare tire. Be sure you get everything promised before you leave. No support there after.

Tried three times to get to the parts department, recording said, we are closed we will call you back the next day. You must be crazy. I will go on to the next dealer. I have been here before with another issue for Blue Link. Service department told me I would have to replace the module to get Blue Link to work, so I let it go. Talking with a friend a year later they told me that was wrong. Went back and a salesman corrected my info in the system to show me as the owner. This place needs new management and staff that knows what the heck they are talking about.

One of the worst dealerships I have ever done business with. The person who sold me my car was great, from then on out it was a nightmare.Extremely unresponsive sales team, finance department (Christian Hicks) refused to call me back for a month!! Almost impossible to get anyone to call you back period, let alone the person you actually need to speak with. I had to pull the let me speak to your manager card to get anywhere. They over promise and under deliver.I was told to bring my car in on Monday to have something done, then they closed for sanitation and didnt call me to reschedule or let me know they would be closed, I had to find out the hard way. For 2 weeks I could not get anyone to return my calls to reschedule. After that I was told by James Green to bring my car in for an oil change today, though I call to double check my appointment and the service department isnt in today. Again I would have wasted my time and gas to drive 40 minutes to this dealership to be highly disappointed yet again.I highly advise the team to restructure the way you do business, youre building a poor name for yourself as I see I am not the only person who has had an experience like this. Every bad review on your page shows how poor of a sales / finance team this is. I hope no one else has to have this experience.

The warranty on these things is worthless. The one and only time Ive driven my car in heavy, stop and go traffic the transmission overheated twice and you could smell something burning (car is a 2018 with then 36k miles). It took 2 weeks to get an appointment and over an hour for them to say it operates within Hyundais standards and they arent going to do anything about it. Unless you consider your transmission burning up in rush hour traffic acceptable standards for your car, Id avoid Hyundai.

I received prompt, courteous care when turning in my car and leasing another one. The salesman was very thorough and made sure that I got exactly what I wanted. He explained practically every function of the new car in detail. I test drove 2 cars before making a final decision. There was absolutely no pressure from the salesman. We walked in thinking that we would be greeted by another “typical” salesperson. We were blown away with Mett! He made our experience awesome! He really made a huge difference in talking with us instead of at us the way that some other dealers do. He was very helpful in helping me make decisions based on what I wanted in a vehicle, not just pushing something that was on their lot. He educated me end of lease options which I was not aware of. I switched to buying cars from CarMax for a long time to avoid the haggling and fighting.I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE AS I DID AT KEITH HAWTHORNE HYUNDAI!When you go to buy a car from here be expected to be taken care of like a VIP from start to finish. Christian is the guy to ask for. Antiono, the finance guy, was the most honest and straightforward finance person I have ever met.We had very limited time to spend at the dealer. We dont live close to them but it was worth the drive. Christian had everything ready for us to go when we got there. We actually spent more time there because I kept asking about all the amazing features on our new 2018 Sonata 2.0t which is an amazing machine.We will go out of our way to shop at Keith Hawthorne from now on. If need be we will follow Christian if he ever leaves.Love the Keith Hawthorne Team.

Sales manager does not stand by his word. I used Truecar and through text messages from sales manager, Jay, was told he would match price from another dealer. He lied. Also, the general manager decided to have an unscheduled meeting with his staff. Because of this, we were left waiting for over 45 minutes. Worst experience ever buying a car. I would not recommend this dealership. Go somewhere that values your business, stands behind their word, and isnt rude.Update: After response below from Mike Grayson, I called and left a message for him to call me back. I left this message over a week ago and, of course, no one has called me back. They are acting like they care about a resolution but it is obvious that they do not. Do not shop at Keith Hawthorne Hyundai.

My daughter purchased a car there. She used her car as a trade in. Her trade has not been paid off yet. Phone calls go unanswered with no follow up. Very disappointed with the finance department. Not very pleased with the finance person Christian Hicks. The finance person does not come off as a very trustworthy person. He was very short with her and acted as if it was a bother to speak with her. He was very rude. Sales people are nice.

They completely wasted my time! I have no complaints about Rob my salesman, he was great! He did his best! JD seemed to have a problem with dwnpaymt, check stubs, everything basically it was just more money & he simply could of said that! I live in WSalem im just glad i called bk and didnt make a second drive bk there. It all worked out better for me anyway. I went to the Kia dealership right here in WSalem told them i had a trade in & $500 down they actually gave me more on my trade in & have my payment set for lower than what i needed i dont know what i was thinking anyway going over an hour away to Gastonia only to have my time wasted. I made it clear before i even got there i didnt want to waste anyones time, but they called me thats. really crazy to me! The people at Kia definitely didnt waste my time! They put me in a brand new 2021 Kia Soul & I love it!

From the moment I walked in, everyone was courteous. Typical, right? Well, my salesman, Mike, was very knowledgeable about the vehicles. That was not typical. I can’t stress enough my impatience for a salesman who does not know his products. Mike talked to me like a friend. He was never pushy. He was honest and made me feel comfortable about the purchase. (My last car purchase all felt like I was backed into a corner.)The sales manager was also honest and straightforward, but nice.F&I was quick and painless.I would definitely buy from here again!

We bought a used Hyundai from a different dealership (Carmax) recently. Within a few days we realized ours had an issue with the transmission and the USB port did not work. Knowing that the car was still under warranty, we took it back to Carmax and were informed that we would have to have the work done at Hawthorne Hyundai or the warranty would be voided. It took over two weeks for the transmission to be fixed, but the real issue is over the USB port. When the car was taken over the KH, I mentioned the USB issue and he said it was working. We tried 3 different phones with different cords to make sure the issue was with the car and not with any of our devices. The service advisor, Shane, said that he tried his and other phones and it was working. When the car was returned to CM the first time, I asked the service advisor there to double check and sure enough, the USB port was not working. The car was returned to KH within a few hours. Almost a week later, I still hadnt heard anything definite from KH so I stopped by and was told that it would be ready at the end of the week. When I called at the end of the week, I found they had returned the car to CM with an invoice showing the USB port has been replaced but the problem still exists. They have sent the car back to CM TWICE without fixing the problem. I guess it is because I didnt buy the car directly from them, but their service program has really been slipping. I also own an Elantra with 167K miles on it that I purchased from KH so I have experience with this dealership. There was a time when I had confidence in the service department at Keith Hawthorne Hyundai, but that time has passed.As a follow up-while updating everything within my car, KH had taken the SD card from the car and did not put it back. When we tried to use the navigation device, it did not work. It never ends...

Excellent service.I went to Charlotte for a weekend from Florida and my Elantra Sport started with a coolant leak.I went to the service area on Thursday and the part that was damaged was not in stock.I had to return to Florida on Sunday to work and in the service area they did everything possible to return the vehicle to me on Saturday.And best of all, the warranty covered the expenses.I definitely recommend them, the best service from a Hyundai dealer I have ever had.

I went somewhere else in town to get an oil change and one week later, I was driving on the highway when my car started smoking and I had to pull over only to see that all of the oil had spilled out on the road. A cap not screwed in properly caused all the oil to spill and made my engine seize, which I found out later resulted in the need for a new engine! I had my car towed to this dealership from Asheville. Patrick in the service department was absolutely amazing throughout this whole process, making sure to call me with updates anywhere from parts to anything he heard from the insurance agent. The whole process took about two months from tow to pickup because of all the labor and insurance delays, but now my car is like new! I’m a 23 year old female and know nothing about cars, seriously like LESS than nothing, and I never felt like I was being taken advantage of or that the team was condescending, ever, which is unfortunately so much more than I can say about any other dealership I’ve been to. I will absolutely buy my next car from this Hyundai dealership due to how serious they took all of my concerns and how diligently they worked to make sure I wasn’t getting screwed over by the insurance company. 5 stars to Patrick and 5 stars to Hyundai of Gastonia!

I had an unknown problem with my cars engine and it made me very nervous. I took it to 3 other mechanic before I brought it here and none could tell me why my engine light was on or why my car was not working as designed. I gave them a call one morning and dropped it off shortly after hanging up! They were super efficient, found the problem, fixed it and I was able to pick it up within a few hours. Great team of sweet people.

I would rather not be approached by a sales person encouraging me to buy a new car during my wait time at the service department recently. Though a very nice person, I was detained longer than the time needed by the service department to service my car that had, at that time 22,000 miles registered.The service department personnel are always polite, accommodating, and pleasant to deal with, one reason I bought my second car from this dealership. If you’re looking for a great dealership with great professionals, this is your place! I can’t brag enough! I was looking to trade my BMW for an SUV. I made it very clear that I wasn’t in a hurry and that I did not want to buy a Hyundai. Fortunately, they had a used Ford Explorer that I fell in love with. Although the dealership made a minor mistake after I bought the car, they immediately readjusted the paperwork and gave me a better deal than I could have imagined! Got what seems to be a pretty good car. It was more than I was looking to pay, even though I said price was my primary criterion. The salesman tried to convince me that it was within the price range I had specified even though it was more than twice what I had said. Eventually bargained down to something I could live with, but still more than I really wanted to pay; I dont think the price is out of the way for the vehicle though. The check engine light came on about a week after I bought it; I dont know if I ought to be concerned yet.

I have to edit my review because the service center is horrible. Their hours are not convenient at all if you actually have a job unless you like taking time off work to get your car serviced or go in for the recalls. I highly recommend Keith Hawthorne of Gastonia! I had an appointment with Jerome McClendon, however I came early and he was with another customer. He immediately had Brian Scantling to take care of me. The entire staff was very friendly and seemed more than happy to go above and beyond to ensure that we were taken care of and answer any questions we had. I have never had so much fun buying a car in my life! I may not have won the Christmas cash drawing, but I had a fun time clearing the showroom floor! Thats right the beautiful blue Sonata Limited that was there is now in my driveway!! I want to thank Brain, Jerome & all of the staff @ Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Gastonia for an outstanding experience of a lifetime. Extremely pleased with my salespeople. Mett and Michael Chastain are excellent. Not very pleased with the finance person Christian Hicks. I wanted GAP insurance for my purchase and ended up with tire, wheel and windshield and ding repair. None of these were explained to me by the finance manager. The finance person does not come off as a very trustworthy person.
