I find it highly suspect that a sudden litany of bad reviews hit within the span of a week. Shill reviews from the competition arent unheard of and are quite common, especially in Google reviews.Ive dealt with A&R Automotive and more specifically, the owner and his brother, personally with regards to my family vehicles. And not once have I felt I was being swindled. If anything, they bought matters to my attention other mechanics and facilities would overlook, because theyre often doing rush jobs: get one car in, have another going out.Fortunately, Rene and crew actually care enough to go out of the way and inform you of future problems that may arise. At that point, its up to you whether or not to have it addressed. Never has he held me or my car hostage, demanding extra pay for additional work that I didnt authorize. I have a 10 plus year relationship with this company and have no reason to say anything that isnt true.If you check the majority of the reviews, youll see theyre aligned with positive experiences, such as mine. I hate some people/companies have to find it necessary to bash their competitors rather than doing honest work. But that should tell you whos doing the better business.

I found this place about a year ago and went to it for the reviews. They are my go to mechanic now, I have taken my car there about 2-4 times in a year for different things as is an older model and the best thing is that they have always taken care of the problem within that day. That’s not something I was used to. Rene is personable and he knows what car I have and remembered my name after the first visit. If you don’t have a mechanic to go in Garland I recommend these guys.

On my first experience I was quoted one amount only to be told another price after the had new findings.. which of course after parts n labor raise the price substantially. I brought another car in for repair was quote a price, only to once again, recieve a phn call about new findings that will raise the price $500+ dollars..had that been the case i would have went somewhere else.To top it off my car STILL SHAKES $1600+ later... good luck youve been warned.

All of my reviews have been to places Ive gone to often. This was the first time I went to this place. I replaced my inner and outer tie-rods and struts so I needed a front-end alignment. Im not a mechanic but I know my own stuff about cars. We had a good conversation and they were respective of me even though I told Sal I dont speak Spanish.Furthermore, the alignment only took 40 minutes even with their schedule. I got there just before closing and they got me in and out in 50 minutes.April 30 2017: I took a second car in to get the alignment after I changed the front shocks. I told Sal I just changed the shocks and he gave me the regular price which I like. I walked out of there having paid $64.35 for the front wheel alignment. Thats compared to $80 at Firestone.Ive always wondered what the difference is and always make me think why those big named guys charge more for the same service. All I can think of is youre paying for the brand.

Went in to get a battery bolt replaced. Real easy fix but I didn’t have the tools. Told them exactly what I needed and they immediately tried to upsell more parts and labor. He said I needed a new battery without looking at the bolt or battery. Showed him exactly what I needed and then he said we don’t carry that bolt go to autozone. Scammers trying to upsell any chance they get. Beware!!!!!

Cant say I had a bad experience but cant say it was great either. Came in for an alignment on my vehicle but was later told that parts where bad. Got a quote for $720 but theyre unable to disclose why unless I pay them $40 for the visual inspection they did.Normally, I get visual inspection free or charge or at a very low cost so $40 was hard pill to swallow. Much less the $720 to get bad parts fixed.Thats unfortunate, maybe I will have a better experience the next time around.

They were quick to find the problem and fix it, would recommend to anyone needing any type of work on their vehicles!

Called these guys after getting what seemed like an absurdly overpriced repair from a different repair shop. These guys not only saved me more than 50% on the AC repair, but got it done quickly and were super friendly and professional.

They left a wrench clamped under my friends car. It was pressed up against another part of the motor causing it to squeal anytime the car accelerated after stopping. To make matters worse, the owner, after removing it, acted as though he didnt want to give us a written statement saying they left the wrench there. I had to stand outside and argue with him before he decided he would go ahead and type up a statement for us. It honestly wouldnt have been a big deal if he had apologized, wrote a statement, and told us to come back if any issues involving that piece, seeing as it was completely their fault. Yet instead we argued even after he wrote it for us! Absolutely insane.

This is a superb auto shop, I would most definitely recommend their services. They are very straightforward and forthcoming about the services they provide and prices as well. Very upstanding people!

I had to get a brake change and they made it very easy for me it only took 25 minutes and I felt like they prioritize their customers really well. I would definitely recommend A&R to everyone that needs help with their cars.

I had some issues with my 2013 Ford Edge Sport when placing in park Dashboard would state to Place In Park. Vehicle was in Park but it kept giving me same message. Rene diagnosed issue promptly and had Ford part ordered and installed within a couple of hours. Pricing was Great and shop is up to date with all equipment needed to fix your vehicle right the first time. I also saved money by bringing vehicle to Rene instead of dealer. These guys are honest and know their stuff. Ive been looking for a mechanic since my old place came under new management, and I couldnt be more pleased to have found A&R.

I will never take my car there ever, its bad enough I had pushed my car their 0.7 miles to get it fixed but instead of telling me i had the wrong part for my car, they installed what i didnt need charged me more and Im having the worst problem from my car than I did when I sent it in.. for a simple fuel pump assembly what was needed was all they had to tell me. Lost $225 and me and my child have to ride around smelling like fumes and getting sick cause these people did what they wanted too...will never take my car there again

Weve been bringing Rene our cars since moving to DFW close to 20 years ago. Live 30 minutes away now, but still make the drive down to G-town when necessary. Theyve always been honest and up-front about everything, and have never given us reason to doubt their authenticity and skill. These guys are real.

Beware!!!!!! Beware!!!!!!! Beware!!!!!! Nice guys but, they will definitely charge you an outrageous price to fix a problem that they create. I found out that someone in the shop disconnected a hose that prevented the heat from working. They tried to charge me almost 800 dollars to fix it. I declined. Then, I took it to some reputable mechanics in my area and they charged me 65 dollars. They said someone INTENTIONALLY disconnected a hose; and there was no way that that particular hose would have came loose. Now my heat works like a charm!!!! Dont let their niceness fool you! Do yourself a favor, take your car somewhere else.

Went through 5 mechanics to find the problem with my 1995 Chevy Silverado, and these were the only guys that were able to find the problem and fix it, great service.

I have been going to this shop for over 10 years and not once I have felt like they take advantage of me especially since Im a woman.They explain everything in details and if they are unable to explain it, they are willing to take me to the back and show me. Im able to discribe this shop in three words clean, trustworthy, and organized. I would DEFINITELYrecommend this shop if you were looking for a mechanic to work on your vehicles. Regarding to all the negative comment(s) there is on this establishment I would disagree 100%, yea its a fair price but its quality work. You get what you pay for. Also I believe leaving a anonymous review is a lack of character, you have to own up to your opinion. That being said go give them a try, you wont be disappointed!!!

These guys stand behind their work, I have been going there 5 years now. Ive had lots of great experiences with them and the one time something went wrong, they made it right. Best mechanic experience Ive ever had.Had a computer problem, they had it replaced -- still had problems, but it was the replacement computer that they got from the agency. They troubleshoot it and got the agency to replace it and stood behind their work.Friendly - got my van inspected even though they dont do inspections.Trustworthy - they always want to show me the problem before they fix it. Ive been here multiple times with 3 different cars and have never been decived or even felt like they were trying to fool me. I completely disagree with the amtecdotal review read the reviews of people who have been going for years.

Worst service I had in a long time . My car alternator broke so I went to this place to replace it but the estimated cost was over 1300 because they added the water pump and other stuff, I told them no way I’m not doing it . They still charged me apparently for taking the part off and on the car .they brainwash people saying all kind of stuffI DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE !!!

I was recommended this shop from a friend he said that they was honest and do good work I did all of my Communication over the phones I, had my car towed to the shop that evening he explained to me that he had a couple cars in front of me so he call me back the next day and explain the repairs that needed to be done to get my car running right and he gave me two options on repairing my car because total price was going to be over 5000 K to repair everything but he explained the Critical thing that I can fix to get me back up and running and come back to get the other repairs at a later date and I also work 7 days week so he offer to stay late so I can pick up my car with saying all of that thank you again for making my experience hassle free I definitely will Recommend your business and thank again
