Very cool place especially if you are willing to look through bins for something that you’re missing for your bike. Many recycled items - you could basically build a bike from scratch. You can buy some second hand things for cheap - just be nice and ask someone there about it. They are very nice and helpful. They have some biking books too and some couches to sit and read, and I saw they do some classes/workshops. Will return soon!

They had two perfect bikes for my younger boys. they fixed em up and ready to roll. i picked up some stuff for my mountain bike as well. if you ask me, this place is the quintessential bike shop. tons of parts, smells like rubber and grease and prices are based mostly on donation....which actually makes me want to spend more because its all to a good cause. wont go anywhere else.

Very friendly staff and extremely helpful. I needed a replacement of my front wheel after I got in an accident and they were very accommodating in finding me a replacement and helping me install it. They have used bike parts and even sell bikes. Would go again with other bike problems and parts!

Eli is a super knowledgeable mechanic and as far as bike part thrift shopping goes you wont find fairer prices or better selection. If you need a tune up or are in the market for spare parts (or if you have any around that you want to donate), go to Freewheel.

A superior experience and a wonderful find! The store has a lot of cool novelty bikes and a variety of parts on display. My family and I came here today to rent bikes to ride on the Hawthorne bike trail just up the road. The store has a laid-back vibe and the owner was beyond gracious with loaning us bikes from his bike library. I will recommend this place to everyone and will be back again. Thank you!

This is a very cool bike shop. The guy that owns it sold me a great bike at a great price and actually modified it for me free of charge. He provides underprivileged kids with bicycles and teaches students valuable business/mechanical skills with hands-on bicycle building/maintenance experience. Hes also got a cool dog.

The Freewheel project is an awesome place. Work on your own bike, shop around for their used parts, get your bike serviced by them, give back to the community, or go on group ride.Their bike membership is a gem, $50 bucks and you get access to the bike library, the working stands, and the knowledge from some of the coolest bike people in town.

Excellent service, friendly staff! I took my bike to The Freewheel Project because my wife works next door to them and I wanted to be able to catch a ride home with her. They fixed my bike in about ten minutes (new bearings for the front tire), let me pick out a new-used bicycle seat, and only charged me $10! I highly recommend them to anyone.

Freewheel Project is why I love Gainesville. A coop shop where kids work on their own bikes. Bought a replacement tube for dollars less than Amazon. Also had great reconditioned racing and street bikes for sale.

What a fantastic place to buy or rent a bike or get your bike fixed. Become a member and learn how to fix your own. Or volunteer on Saturday mornings to work on bikes for kids and vets (theyll teach you). Ryan has created a great place for people at all levels of cycling.

Difficult to find, but the service was good. The gentleman I spoke to on my visit had a lot of great tips on choosing a bike, but the selection itself left a lot to be desired for a casual user. Thats not to say this place isnt AWESOME, especially given that they are a non-profit and give bikes to kids, just not necessarily the best option for shopping and browsing for bicycles.

Disappointed with the prices on the bikes. Some bikes where very sub-par but were still priced @ over 170$. you could find cheaper, newer, and in better condition bikes at regular bike stores. now, theres nothing wrong with this PER SE, but the message of this store is that it is helping the community. when in reality, I cant imagine how these prices are helping anyone in the community. the message does not match the prices! in other words, their message is just a marketing gimmick. go buy a bike at gatorcycle or some other mom n pop. theres a couple in gainesville.
