I have been to Eden Garden multiple times but this is my first time shopping at Good Fortune Supermarket. I was impressed with the layout and the abandont fruit and fresh vegetables. Look at the isle of instant noodle. It will be a great experience if you never being to an Asian market. Here are some photos...ENJOY!!!
SO MUCH GOOD STUFF. They have everything from cute socks and souvenirs, to every cooking utensil and pot, fresh seafood, tons of veggie options, frozen goods etc. This place has one of the best selections of food in any Asian grocery, better than 99 ranch. Also a bakery and hot foods section inside.
First time visiting. They had an extensive selection of goods. The store was amazingly laid out, clean and very easy to navigate. My only problem (personal issue, not store issue) is I cant read many labels because they are in another language. But am definitely looking forward to going back. They have a bakery in-house that was great.
Good Fortune Supermarket situated within the Eden center is an authentic Asian supermarket. Be careful.. Should you Have sensitivity to smells and odors.. This supermarkets Fresh Seafood and Butchery has a very pungent and unwelcomed aroma. However there is a Good selection of produce, from seafood, meats dry goods and sauces. Definitely worth a visit should your palette like Asian dishes. Perfectly for buying unique and difficult to find ingredients for home-cooking. DO NOT ask ANY member of the team for Help.. As there is a massive language barrier.. As expected 90% ingredients are listed in the Native Language.. So visit with some knowledge of what you will need.
Has a lot of good items, produce and what not. I like to pick up most of my stuff here, although it can be difficult to find sometimes. Some stuff is hidden in end caps. Only draw back is the peak times are nuts, its like impossible to find parking.I have a preference for H Mart personally.
The layout has improved for faster checkout times-- thank you. The customer service remains durian=like (it stinks) -- its so difficult to find someone to help find items I want to buy. Customers seem more willing and able than employees.
We discovered the place on our first visit to DC when we were just exploring the area. We went back on this visit and made sure to visit when they were opened. It is so nice to have a large amazing market only a couple hours from home. The ones close to home are maybe ¹/8 the size...so imagine our delight to find everything in one store instead of having to travel to 4 like usual. We have made this a regular stop on our DC visits now...only we have to remember to take a larger cooler so we can buy more!
Typical Asian super market. It was quite busy for a Tuesday here. The prices are reasonable. However, the shoppers are not really friendly. In any event, it is convenient if you need Asian food. It is not a goto place for me but it is certainly one for my mother!
I always come here to get some hard to find Asian groceries, preserved food plus hotpot necessities. Theres a great food counter with authentic Chinese food and a small bakery counter next to it, which I was grateful to find because Ive missed the food I used to eat when I lived for a semester in China. The aisles can get pretty confusing which is why this isnt 5-stars but for fresh produce and unique goods, theyre hard to beat.
Typical poorly ventilated dirty Asian market. Also no heating nor air conditioning so keep that in mind. There can be nice deals on produce, meat and seafood. I also like the bakery fresh everyday has nice variety.
Things (rice, drinks and snacks) are more expensive than others such as Lotte and Hmart. Good that they have a few fast food restaurants but pricing is also similar to regular ones too. Varieties are great and they are 90% mainland goods.
A cooks delight! Everything you could possibly want to make a meal. Great prices, cashier was too friendly to us. Maybe because we didnt look like the regular shoppers.
If you are looking for an usual herbal teas or natural oils for healing then you are at the right place. The prices are much lesser than at the specialty stores. There are so many things here that you need a couple hours to make your discoveries. All oils are sold at the special counter near cash registers. I love their chinaware, different thermoses, etc. Go ahead and discover!
I went to the supermarket today and spent $85 to buy two living lobsters, i went back home and soon realized that the lobsters were dead and was missing a claw. The employee intentionally swapped the living lobsters for a dead one. I went back to the supermarket to speak to the supervisor and asked if they could show me camera footages of what went down and what the employee was doing. But the supervisor said that the camera did not work in this particular area, and I asked the supervisor why the camera does not work in only the seafood isle, then the supervisor said i could return the lobsters. But the point is not returning the lobsters and getting my money back but let people be aware and be careful and not be cheated by the employees here working at this supermarket. Hopefully this incident does not occur to anyone else.
Extraordinarily interesting. I didnt know a store like this existed. So cool. I cant wait to go back and shop some more.
Good Asian (Chinese) supermarket. Very broad selection. good quality. Prices bit higher than some other Asian markets.
Really good selection of pan Asian foods, snacks, produce (comparable to h-mart). Excellent fish dept. While H-Mart has more Korean stuff, this is your go to place for everything else, probably a bit more of Chinese and Vietnamese.
Back in Indonesia my mom used to cook Kangkong (spinach water) every otherday, its like kimchi for the Korean. Its a must have so we grow it in our pond. They grew so fast to the point we had to sell it for 50cents per 2lbs and give some to the cow (neighbors didnt want it). Here in US is so expensive that i cant afford it for daily side dish. I try to grow it in my apt. Good Fortune is the only place in the area that has Kangkong.
Super large selection of Asian groceries here, though prices are slightly higher than some other supermarkets—but it is a perfect spot to get your groceries done all at once. They also have a hot food and bakery section
This was my first visit to the supermarket. The place is AMAZING !! Huge inventory ... great selection ... produce is so fresh. I love this place .... you must visit. 👍👍
My go to place for fresh Asian vegetables, fruits, seasoning and fresh seafood. Prices are great too!
It is not bad. I think they should clean store often. Inside is odor of seafood and durian.
Most of bottles of soy milk already expired, but still displayed on the shelf for sale.I told the manager, she ignored like nothing is wrong about it. Check before you buy.The ads said a certain item on sale, I looked and could not find. I asked employees, and asked the manager, no one helps to point the way or to take me where the item located, literally no one. They all told me to go find it myself, I said I already looked, they simply ignored.VERY poor customer service!Hmart, and all other Asian groceries are a lot better, price not cheaper here, anyway.
Guys, some products could be more fresh. The variety is great!
They have tons and tons of things that you cant find anywhere else. The sweets section is great. You can also find fresh fruits, vegetables and fish.
This a great location to shop for international items. We usually use this store for a wide range of grocery needs. They have everything from fruits, vegetables, big range of fish for purchase and to many other foods.
Best place to get Asian produce. Fresh and good tasting.
Ive never seen an indoor fresh fish market as good as this one
Love the produce section! Like the seafood section. I can find a few Malaysian products here, not a lot but beggars cant be choosers 😉
Good selection of Asian groceries and household items. Prices seem to be a bit higher than those from some competitors.
Excellent selection of food and home goods
Nice store with fresh, good foods
This place is genuinely a Supermarket. It offers everything you need to make an Asian meal. I was shopping for the ingredients to make a Miso soup. There is also a good selection of fresh produce, plus fish and meat.
Some of the food pack was expired.Need to be extra careful
Great Asian supermarket, wide aisles, great produce. Checkout is a bit cramped. Focus is on Vietnamese and Chinese foods, but Korean, Japanese and even Hispanic foods are here too.
Great place to get most of your Asian food needs, as well as a large selection of wonderfull cooking gadgets & utensils, ceramics or china for your stove or tabletop. Basic chopstick selection I love it especially the big golden plastic pigs.
Asking for help seems like no ones to help i guess im to dark to consider help.. its okay Better Business will be hearing from me.. The worst feeling is coming into a store and ppl refuses to acknowledge you present..
Great place. Complete vegetables.
Love the bakery there, it brings taste I miss from S.E.A., I can get most snacks and ingredients to elevate home sickness. A bit on the pricey side though for certain items that can be found in Latino markets like Mung Beans, but the jasmine rice is worth it when in sales.
Has all of the things you would expect from an Asian grocery store but the parking here is absolutely atrocious with people constantly cutting each other off and swooping infront of you to steal a spot you were waiting and had signalled for.
I been there several time .everyone I brought something it was worst inside . This time I will post for everyone be careful. Don’t ever buy from here again . Special fruit it really bad you can’t eat it.
Some things could be better...
Lots of Asian food products and selections.Fast cashiers with lots of checkout aisles.Has a buffet food area inside with very reasonable prices.Lots of parking spaces available.Bathrooms available.Live fish selections.A great variety of fileted fish purchasing selections.Very good store hours.
Great selection of Chinese grocery. Clean.
Very good produce. Fairly crowded, smooth checkout
Have many things. And my suggestions is to keep this place clean and neat.
Good selection of Chinese snacks and food that is hard to find in other Asian markets.
Pretty standard Asian grocery. The fresh pastry, bread, etc are good. The hot dim sums are taken from the frozen food packages. Disappointing. Did get to try the roast pork or duck this time around, will rate them next time.
This is an Asian grocery store that I go to fairly often. They are a very large location, and have quite a bit to go through if you have the time, including a restaurant and small cafe with baked goods all the way to the left hand side of the store. I think that although this store has quite a lot of good finds and produce, the fish smell can be fairly overwhelming in the back end, and sometimes checking out can be a bit of a hassle, the lines get long and there are rarely enough cashiers to manage that. They do have hand sanitizer in the entrance for customers, which is great, and although they have a ton of carts, finding a small hand basket can sometimes be a bit impossible (theyre after the entrance corridor but usually gone). I am unsure if the cafe/restaurant is still in operation, but pre-Covid, they were an extremely affordable meal. If you are looking for Asian foods that seem impossible to find at your local grocery store, I think this is a great place to find those products at good prices. Personally, Id recommend checking out their fresh noodles in the refrigerated section, its actually a steal!
Super great place for ALL your home made Asian food in 1 place, good for most needs & things you didnt know you needed. Staff friendly & helpful!
This is a Chinese supermarket. The vegetable and fish selection are above average for an ethnic supermarket. The lines are never very long when we go on weekenights.
This is a solid Asian grocery. Theres always hard to find produce from southeast Asia. The selection varies depending on season but Ive gotten mangosteen, longan and other fruits. The seafood section has live, fresh, and previously frozen fish. They have a selection of shell fish that includes the common mussels and shrimp to the rarer gooey duck and dungeonus crabs. Then there are less common cuts of meat in the butcher department, a hot food counter and a bakery specializing in Asian style baked goods like buns and cakes.
Fantastic fresh fruits and veggies. Low prices. Great selection of Asian items with many brands I cant find elsewhere.
Pretty much covers all our Asian grocery needs!
A really good store. Their biggest weakness in that their employess all too often do not have masks on properly. Seafood is quite good and the prepared foods especially are excellent. Some of the best BBQ and roast meats. Their 3 item, rice and soup lunch special cannot be beat!.
Great food reasonably prices
I love this place but there is no such thing as customer service.
Good selection of fresh produce, seafood, meat, Asian snacks, and a huge HOT Food bar.
Its a pretty comprehensive Asian supermarket. A bit crowded all the time, even in covid-19 times. Bigger than closest H-mart, smaller (but less chaotic) than closest Great Wall grocery in Merrifield. I give it a 4 for selection and price. It would be a 5, but thats a standard I really havent seen in large Asian supermarkets.
A big Asian supermarket, almost everything you need can find from here.
Good Fortune Supermarket at Eden Center sucks!!! Bought a bag of sweet rice. The sticker on the shelf was $4.99. The register rang it up at $6.99. I ran back and took a picture of the $4.99 sticker which matches the brand of rice. When I got back to the register, my stuff was set aside BUT the clerk had place the five pound bag of rice on top the persimmons!!! Then she tells me its $6.99. Do you want it or not? Not!! Tried to post with no stars, but cant. Guess have to give them one.
A decent place to go for Asian groceries and snacks, most items fairly priced. Nice.
Need some asian groceries or a quick meal this is the place... they have rotisserie DUCK!!!
Visit every week, vegetables and fruits are fresh
Clean for an Asian market. Large variety. Items skewed toward Chinese and south east Asian products.
Good Fortune is the largest Chinese market inside the beltway and has a very large selection of vegetables and fruit, plus the huge variety of frozen dumplings! Good fresh seafood and butcher shop, plus all the normal chinese necessities. The hot food options include boxes food, dim sum, baked goods, and chinese BBQ.
Best choice for Asian food lovers
The best and fresh selection of Asian vegetable and fruit. Meat and seafood quality and selection is huge and dim sum section is a nice touch.
Wide array of Asian foods, snacks, fresh fish & meat, plus a great selection of drinks. My go-to Asian market.
The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced before in my lifeThey ignored me in every department in the storeSomeone else that would come up and speak there language they would answer them they waved me off i got super fustrated and left the store i will never come here ever again !
I love the sauces and produce here. Really happy with the soup bowls here as its one of the only places that sells good sizes. Watch out for the seafood selection as a lot of the species are overfished
Great selection of produce and meats. Lots of hard to find products, too. After going to five different Asian grocery stores in the area, this was the only place I could find with fresh ramen noodles, bonito flakes, and kombu. Will definitely be back for all my Asian cuisine needs!
Best prices and great fruit and vegetable offerings and prices.
Huge selection of fruits, vegetables, seafood. No frills. Great prices.
To commemorate my 100th google review, I’m so happy to say that this is the place! Good Fortune has an amazing selection of ethnic foods that’s hard to find in other stores. So very much with going out of your way to stop by here. Worth a trip!
The grocery are fresh. However, the worker are rude. Especially the fish market, they act like they don’t want to sell their products. I was looking at big pice of salmon, and try to get it. A guy is getting a bag for my fish as I point at the one I want. Then the other guy look at me like I have kill somebody, and making noises like I did something wrong. Everybody look at him. As I sense that he doesn’t want me to get the fish, I just walk away and buy salmon from other store where they respect their customers. So rude.
Veggies are fresh and lots of selection. Seafood are good. We get lobsters and fishes here. They gut and clean the fish for you. Its a Chinese supermarket so a lot of stuff are from China.
Lot of selections - not the best prices
I shop at this store a lot but I am very disappointed at a recent purchase. On Saturday I bought a box of Mango all looking very fresh. Only ate one of the mango. By the next day they were rotting. Cutting through one after the other the Mangos were all bad even those that still looked good from the outside. They looked brown and dark. Everything has gone into the trash. I now wonder if they put some kind of preservatives on the skin to make it look fresh.
Great selection of fruits, vegetables, meat, and seafood. Food court has many dishes including roast duck and roast pork.
Counting down the days to go back and do some real shopping this time. Brought me right back to SK!
I have been to many Chinese supermarkets. This is one of the few that is roomie. Not all the aisles are crammed to fit the products. The produces are also fresh. I have been to some where the leaves of the veggies are yellow and shrivel looking. Only thing is there is still a bit of smell from the fish and meat department.
Fantastic store! Huge selection, great prices, clean.
