I recently moved from NY to Durham for my job. I did not have a car in NY, so I decided to get a motorbike. I went to Combustion Cycles and met the team including David the owner. Super nice people. They put together a great bike and added all the accessories I needed to make it safe and fun. They taught me how to ride it and have made minor adjustments to the bike as I have been using it all the time. I appreciate all their efforts in setting up my insurance and registration as well. Good people!
This place is great. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are great. Customer service is amazing. I had a million questions it seemed like and they were answered with no problem. Definitely recommend them.
Im an over 50, brand new scooter owner and rider. Dave and Courtney took great care of me, answering all of my questions and following up a month later to see how things were going. One of the mechanics also gave me an extremely useful lesson in riding before I left with my new scooter. I highly recommend Combustion Cycles!
Combustion is the only game in town for Genuine brand scooters. I had to have a warranty repair completed and in direct contradiction to Genuine Scooters policies I was charged for the diagnosis. I communicated with the CEO of Genuine USA and they said that warranty repairs do NOT require a payment for diagnosing warranty covered repairs if the repair is covered under the warranty. I was charged a diagnosis fee. Be aware of what you are being charged for.
Great customer service only had two experiences with them so far seem honest and reliable.
Found the bike I wanted online called and right from the start they were extremely helpful. Went in to buy the bike and service was fantastic, went out of there way to help me. Couldnt have asked to find a better bike shop and would go back if I ever want another bike. Thank you to everyone there!
Super great people. They’re also a Genuine dealership so if you are looking for a cool scoot, this is the place. Their customer service is 100%.
I both purchased a bike and also had repairs on another bike done so I have seen both the sales and service side. They have been great. Dave the owner was very fair on my purchase and Earl the mechanic was great with a repair even when it had to be looked after a second time. Courtney was super nice at the front desk. If you have a motorcycle or scooter I would recommend them but just understand these are machines and they can break down and be patient. I saw a non positive review and it seemed unreasonable. I have extensive experience in auto restoration and there are many factors that contribute to a well running machine and they stood by their work and were super helpful when mine needed a second look. I would highly recommend them and look forward to using them again and again.
Great experience working with them overall! Had help from start to finish, all my questions were answered, was given great advice, and a great price on my first bike!
Super helpful and friendly staff. Always a great experience for service or inspection.
I always have a great experience here! Staff is super friendly and they do really good work.
Super nice people they answered any questions that I had and even did a follow up call to see if I was still happy with purchase and if there was anything that I needed.
I didnt purchase anything but spoke to the guy about questions I had and thinking about taking my bike up there to get it fixed but I just wish it was closer. Definitely recommend
Awesome bike purchased form Combustion. They made the transaction extremely easy and pleasant. I will be back!
12 yr customer 4 diff bikes. Always excellent service. And fair prices. Parts/labor.
Awesome shop, took me in on a busy Friday without any hassle. Got my bike tuned up and serviced, ready for the season at a fair price. Definitely going back for my future maintenance and service needs.
Dave at CC was awesome, hooked me up with a great deal on a 2004 Fat Boy. The bike was repainted, a lot of new parts and spit shined. Looked brand new! Everyone I met there was real cool and friendly. CC is definitely my go to shop. Thanks to everyone at CC!
As a new rider, I didnt want the expense of a brand new bike, but also didnt want to take my chances on line, getting who knows what. Dave, John, Kobe - the whole crew were helpful, patient, let me sit on a dozen bikes, answered a lot of questions -- and helped me get a great bike. A low stress deal.
Personel were great toward me. 100%
I was looking for a place to get an inspection on my bike someplace close this place was closest. First time I went brake light wasnt working I took the bike home got a hold of the manufacturer of the tail light found out it was their issue it needed rewiring took it back for the second inspection and the mechanic said its still not working even though I just checked it before leaving my house I asked him to grab the brake lever low and behold the brake light was working. We all make mistakes Thats understandable. Overall I just didnt feel comfortable here maybe it was more than just the shop not sure just a heads up. Cant wait for the snarky reply.
Sold my bike to them. I got fair price and great staff who were easy to work with and knowledgeable about all kinds of bikes. Definitely recommend if youre looking to sell or buy!
Very friendly and competent staff. Competitive used prices.Came here to buy my first motorcycle. These folks shared my enthusiasm and even steered me away from a MORE expensive bike to something that would fit me better and be safer in the long run. Also offered to ride my bike home for me because I dont have my M endorsement yet.Im already looking forward to my next trade-in.
Dave and Courtney are awesome. Great service, and Courtney was very knowledgeable about motorcycles and mopeds and helping me purchase.
Great people and easy to deal with. Great price on a great bike no hassle no haggle. My next purchase will be back at Combustion Cycles.
Dave and crew are the best. Ive dealt with them for about 10 years now but have always known Dave to be THE GUY you want working on your bike since before I even started riding. Im on my 2nd bike purchased from Combustion and it was exactly what I was looking for. It is a small shop, so sometimes you do have to wait a bit to get your point across, but in my opinion its worth it.2015 Yamaha FZ-07
Combustion Cycles takes good care of our bikes. They are very professional and know what theyre doing. Wont over-fix or over-sell. Do things right.
Since later 2014/early 2015, Ive had the pleasant experience of working with Combustion Cycles on several transactions as a buyer, a seller, as well as someone needing service on no less then 4 vehicles. Ill detail my most recent experience in December 2020 and sprinkle in some other highlights after the break.TLDR: Fair pricing, low static costs, good mix of older and newer machines. Staff outgoing and friendly and not afraid to use the phrases, I dont know, but I will check on that for you, and not under the confines of most brand-backed dealers to try to drive unnecessary cross sales. Prospective customers would best be served to listen carefully, read the fine print/ask questions if they dont understand something, and do basic research like, Is an Ice Bear the same as a Polaris? (if you understood what I was trying to do there, clap clap clap)I recently got back into riding and as much as I like the easy-going nature of my EN500C, I wanted something that would make me do a goofy feral cat sniffing something tasty grin, like that Maxim 750 I bought from CC a few years ago. I went on a hunt: TPS (both locations), Barnett, Capital, Moto Garcia, Select Cycles and Motorcycles of G-boro, Team Charlotte, Brewer Cycles, and two private sellers. Not counting what I purchased at CC in December 2020, Ive owned 9 distinct machines ranging from ye ol Buell Blast to a 1986 Yamaha FZX 750 (Fazer) to a BMW R1100R, so my tastes are varied and Im an equal opportunity lover of all makes and models and credos. I typically find something that interests me and ride it for about 2 years before moving onto something different (not better, just different). The two longest tenured bikes in my stable were a 2006 ZX-6E and a 2006 SV650, the latter of which I sold to CC, ha!What really brought me back to CC this time around was a combination of reasonable pricing (notice I didnt say rock bottom/giving away the store), my something shiny mentality when I repeatedly saw what I wanted at CC over the course of 3 - 4 visits, and I think mostly importantly, the front of the house customer service. On pricing, 2020 has been a crapshoot with shortages impacting portions of the used market, i.e., NADA and KBB arent as useful. Ive seen some strange pricing on bikes in the past few months. On the low ends, Lake Norman Cyclewerks had a 2015 Moto Guzzi Griso with less than 6k miles for about $6.5k, and even ol Capital has a 2014 VFR800 for $5k right now in what I would consider above average condition. On the other hand, clean and excellent condition pre-owned sub-mid size to mid size displacement standard and sport bikes are being listed AND sold in 2020 at what they retailed for in [insert whatever year here]. Just look at how rigid pricing has been for Ninja 650s and Ninja 400s since this past summer...I mostly interacted with Jo(h?)n and also a little bit with Courtney this time around. Johns got a easygoing personality and as I alluded to, didnt try to make up answers when he didnt know them (specifically, can CC clear codes on Moto Guzz machines if theyre a licensed Vespa dealer. Details, amiright?) Real patient with me and talked to me more like I was someone at the pub rather than trying to sell me anything outright. Courtney told me that she was still learning the ropes, but I thought after she processed my transaction today that shes doing great. Real friendly too. My only regret is that when Dave was asked if there was any wiggle room on pricing, I did not ask him to the badger Wiggle Wiggle Womp dance from the old Johnson car commercials when he said no.Service rates are reasonable. I was being a dumdum on my Maxi Scoot about a year and a half ago and sheared off a mirror stem, and needed the bottom to be drilled/tapped out. Think I was charged maybe 15 minutes or 30 minutes worth of labor.Cheers.
Loved dealing with Dave. Thanks for all your help! You want a bike or get one fixed? Come find Dave and please go to combustion cycles.
I bought a sport bike from an auction with 28k on the clock and knew I needed to take it to a reputable shop right away. Got referred here from a friend, dropped it off on a thursday i think. Spoke to John and he was VERY helpful, basically I gave him a budget and went through everything the bike needed (took a couple days). It got alot of maintenance done. New rear tire, fluids, brake line, spark plugs so on so on. It took about 2 weeks which was longer than expected but when your ordering parts shipping isnt always instant,no fault of the shop. The bike rides great,it went just UNDER BUDGET and the mechanics and staff i met were always helpful, smiling, just great customer service. John,Carlos,Ryan and the young lady up front showed me that they CARE about there customers. Will definitely spread the word around for COMBUSTION CYCLES!!
Great to work with. A nice change from big dealerships.
Excellent customer service, the work was done ahead of schedule and under budget! I had never done business with them before but they will get all my business now and all my recommendations will go to this shop! Great group amd easy to work with! Thank you guys for all you do!
We purchased a used Vespa from Combustion Cycles. Wonderful service, great people. We loved the experience, and we will recommend Combustion Cycles to our friends.
I dont ever write reviews but the service and one on one attention I was given while my bike was being diagnosed and repaired was top notch at Combustion Cycles. I brought my bike to another shop only to be turned away because my bike was to old to preform anything more then routine maintenance. I was left with a borrowed trailer that had a broken motorcycle on it and now I was going to be late to work.I found Combustion Cycles on Google. Called and was immediately connected with a helpful and knowledgeable staff that explained their process. I was able to drop off the bike later that day!!They took extreme care of my bike and were honest and hard working. They were able to explain to me what issues my bike had and walk me through the CORRECT way to fix it and get it back on the road safe.I also had the please of meeting the owner Dave! Such an awesome dude with a serious passion for motorcycles and doing right by his customers.I know summer time is busy for most shops in the area!! Dont hesitate to give Combustion Cycles a call if your normal shop is backed up. And if you dont have a shop yet please go check them out!! I found them by accident and I am glad that I did!!!! It is a great feeling when you know you have an honest and hard working shop in your back pocket for when you need them.
Absolutely wonderful customer service!!! I bought a brand new Buddy 50. (I love it!)I am a scooter novice. The owner spent over 30 minutes with me after hours to help me learn how to ride safely. I really appreciated him and his team taking the extra mile to help me out.I wouldnt go anywhere else.
Ive been going to Combustion Cycles for 5 bikes and ... almost 10 years? Lets just say its been a while. The crew here is honest. Accessories, parts, and service are reasonably priced. Any service required will be explained. The team here will work on older bikes as well.In addition to service, Ive ordered a helmet through them, attire, parts, and pick up basic maintenance stuff from their front room.Always reliable. Thanks, yall.
Its costing a fortune, but I have an expensive foreign bike thats been without service for almost two years. Cant blame em.They have been very friendly though, and walked me through my estimate carefully. Before any work has been done I feel like I know more about my bike than before.Everything moves kind of slow here, and I had to call them every step. My bike was there almost a week before they even looked at it.In the end, they seem trustworthy and knowledgeable, and thats what really counts.Update: After service my bike rides better than ever. Customer service was very friendly, and they frequently checked in. They have about a thousand bikes, so they probably move as fast as they can. Its easy to tell why so many people trust them too. They even called to check up and make sure everything was running well after I got home. I havent been to many motorcycle shops before, but this one stands out.
These folks did an awesome job! Bought my 1st sport bike from John. Ill definitely be bringing the bike to them for any mods or upgrades & would without hesitation reccomend them for a purchase. GREAT WORK GUYS!!
Bike runs great
I had a very pleasant experience here. Very nice people, super helpful and informative. They didnt put a bunch of bs taxes or extra fees on it either, everything was well-priced. Would recommend :)
Went to look at a bike and get a purchase price. They wanted to charge me freight and assembly for an 11 year old motorcycle. Also they would not deduct for a bad rear tire or offer to replace it. Saddle bags were also bad, no help there either. The salesmen refused to negotiate. Had to walk away.
Tried coming here twice for a different impression, the first time I must have been wearing an invisible cloak so i tried another time just to get just an greeting & very vague information
Just bought a beautiful Triumph! low pressure sales experience, and I feel like I got a good deal on a great bike. Thanks John
Been here for two state inspections and a massive tune-up after I purchased a used Suzuki GZ250. Theyve always been helpful, and as far as I can tell, fair. They picked up my bike when it died on the side of the road trying to get it to them. Repairs might have been a little pricey, but Im still a new rider and figured I had to get the job done and well. No problems with the bike since they fixed her up.
I originally came looking for a bike they had posted, but it was already sold. I immediately fell in love with a red Vulcan they had in stock and picked it up that day. It ran like a dream for about a week and a half, found out the battery wasn’t charging, a faulty stator. I called and they got back to me the next day to make things right. Great prices and great customer service.
Very personal experience. The woman behind the counter was extremely helpful and efficient. The guy that I talked to about the bike was very friendly as well and honest. He admitted that the the fairings had be repainted and that level of honesty in the secondhand market is almost non existent. If can get approved will definitely be buying from them
I said i would update my review upon receipt of the scooter and its condition. This is our honest experience of what happened to us and how it played outWhen we first bought our scooter is had several issues. The gas meter didnt work, plumes of white smoke would pour out of the exhaust and the electric start simply didnt work. We always had to use the kickstart. All of which we were assured would go away because its a new scooter without any miles. The scooter we bought is a Buddy 50. Theyre rated for about 100 miles per tank of fuel. When the scooter broke down it was in the middle of a 12 mile trip and at 49 miles. The engine revved up without command and then down. Revved up again, and the down before promptly shutting off. We pushed it into a gas station off main st in durham where we dialed Road Side Assistance. Myself, my girlfriend, and both tow truck employees checked the gas tank. The fuel line was clearly visible from the lid. They gave us a demo scooter to use as a loaner. We did buy a new scooter with 2 year warranty so thats to be expected. After work on the scooter was complete we received a voice mail from Combustion Cycles saying that the scooter was just out of gas .It was determined far before the voicemail gas was not the issue by multiple parties. It also doesnt explain why all the other issues we initially had with the scooter were now suddenly gone. Its clear work was done to the scooter while they had it. And it was good work. We havent had issues yet but its very disappointing that the representatives of Combustion Cycles are trying to pull one over us and not just coming clean with the issue for the scooter. Were going to come back for service on the scooter, and I would recommend this place to my friends. Like I said we havent had issues yet. The staff was friendly and our issue was handled VERY QUICKLY. But because of our experience im leaving this review at 3 stars. Its a decent place with a cool selection of bikes to choose from.
Honest folks, amazing customer service. Definitely check them out if you are looking for a ride.
They were really helpful and patient with me and all my questions thank you sooo much
I took my scooter for repairs because it wouldnt start. They suggested about $1000 worth of repairs, and I agreed to all of them. A month after these repairs, my scooter died in the middle of the street after a few minutes of starting it. Luckily there was no traffic and I was able to drag it back to my schools parking lot. The following day I was also unable to start it. When I called Combustion Cycles, I was told that I would not be charged for repairs if the issue was related to the previous work they had done. Keep in mind that my scooter has NEVER stopped running while driving. They took it in, held it for a few days, then called me saying the scooter runs fine and could not find anything wrong with it. However, because of the towing and the diagnostics, they would charge me $114. The person suggested that maybe what had happened to me was a fluke or that maybe I did not know how to start it right. The person was also unaware, as I had to remind him, that I had just had it repaired by them for over $1000 literally a month earlier. Oh, well. I will never do business with this company again.
I contacted Combustion Cycles for information about scooters. Talia sent me such detailed emails back that I put a deposit on one over the phone. When I went to take delivery of it, the buying process was great. They also had an ample selection of highest quality helmets and locks, which I needed as well to get started. Then, not having ridden a moped since I was a kid, I was given a free orientation and allowed to use a loaner bike to practice around the parking lot and neighborhood of the cycle shop. In a few minutes I was ready to make the ride home in mine. I was walked through every detail of the scooter and helmet, and left with a huge smile. Had a blast riding it home, and actually am looking forward to going back to Combustion for maintenance.
I finally decided to get a new scooter after so many years, so I chose Combustion Cycles. Let me just say these guys went above and beyond what they needed to do. I was treated more like a friend than a potential buyer, to say I felt satisfied is an understatement. These guys wont let you leave unsatisfied and honestly I felt like they understand how customers need to be treated. If anyone needs a good scooter or motorcycle then these guys will be the friends youve been looking for.
I have always had a good experience with combustion cycles. Good work at a good price and on time. Couple years back they overbored the cylinders for my 1972 Honda CL175 scrambler. This requires precise machining work (not just any shop can handle this type of job). The rebuilt engine now has over a thousand miles on it and counting!
Great people that do right by their customers. Purchased a used bike and they serviced it and delivered clean as new. A small problem came up AFTER the purchase and they performed a good will repair at no cost. Outstanding. I’ve had a tire change and their price was reasonable and turn around fast. Support this local business!
Always a 5 star experience for me at Combustion Cycles near Avondale in Durham. I am happy to say that this has been my primary motorcycle shop in the Triangle area since I first moved here in the mid-2000s with my Triumph, and now with my BMW motorrad. Theyve done some custom work for me on that bike and perform top repair work.
They do good work here with out the over pricing a joy rider like Me
I purchased my first scooter from here and the owner took the longest time teaching me how to ride. Now, Im terrible and Im still practicing but everyone is so patient with you. Theyre definitely there for you and not against you!
Great price and great service. Had carbs dunked and new tires, bike runs and rides better than ever! Thanks!!
I think after my first experience with a bike shop and a series of unfortunate events, this place has the openness to call its customer to discuss a problem and find a forward resolution. We had a disagreement but they reached out and tried to understand why and fix it. Pretty uncommon it feels like, so I am changing my review.
I acquired a 1969 Honda Dream several years ago and soon found myself with a bike which needed serious work. I went to Dave and the gang at Combustion and they stripped down the engine looking for problems and recommended a rebuild. That being out of my price range at the time and looking for a fun project, I thanked them and took my boxes full of my engine home with the hope of rebuilding it myself.More than a year goes by and I finally get started on the project. Being a bit of a novice on that big of a job (full top & bottom rebuild) I go back to Combustion to source parts and glean advice. They continued to be super supportive and helpful even though they werent doing the job themselves. I eventually took in my cylinders to be honed out and the head in to replace the valves. They did a fantastic job on that and I completed my engine rebuild in quick time! After everything was back together the engine ran again, but with a bit of a tick...I was baffled by where the tick came from. The bike ran great, but made still noise so I rode it over to Combustion and Dave and I took a look at the valve clearances and he noticed one valve set being improperly timed. A few minutes later the valves were perfectly timed and the Dream purred like it was 1969!!!!All that said, in the past few years I go to Combustion first for everything motorcycle related from new tires to batteries and other spare parts and advice. Theyre friendly, punctual, and knowledgeable even to a guy like me who stubbornly wants to do as much work on my own as I can!
I had an amazing experience with the young lady at the counter and the gentleman John!!
READ THIS!!!! I have been riding scooters for years. In the cold and rain for years. I am an everyday rider and I need reliable transportation. I have just recently found and started doing business with Combustion Cycles. WOW....The way they conduct their business and the actual craftsmanship of the work exceeded my expectations. I was doing business with another shop in Raleigh and the craftsmanship was horrible. There was no pride taken in the work. I was forced to find a new company to fix and repair my scooters. WOW. I am so glad I tried a different shop. The mechanic explained everything in full detail and actually cared about me and the situation I was in. I am telling you from my experiences. If you really want and need a good mechanic for your scooter or bike. This is a great team of people who do business the right way and take pride in the work they do. This is a real review. My name is Jason Campbell........!!!!
I have dealt with Combustion since they sold a motorcycle for me in 2006. Over the past years, theyve sold another and serviced my bikes. This past month I decided to trade bikes again. The bike I got, despite six years and 8,000 miles, looked and ran brand new. This was my first bike that Ive purchased from them. Perhaps if Id bought one of the others from them I wouldnt have had problems committing to a single motorcycle. Well no more. These guys know motorcycles. The service is excellent, prices reasonable, and the feeling that comes from dealing with an independent motorcycle mechanic simply cannot be beat. Thanks to the people at Combustion, LTD, I have a great bike and a great place to keep that bike great. Life is sweet.
Excellent people and service; picked-up my motorcycle after a tune-up and went for a ride - noticeable improvement in shifting, braking and acceleration! Combustion Cycles was a recommendation from a friend and I will definitely recommend them to others. Price of service was reasonable as well.
The folks at Combustion Cycles go out of their way to provide excellent service and they strongly stand behind their products. A little over a month ago, I purchased my second scooter from Combustion Cycles. This one being a step up from a 50 cc scooter to a 220 cc scooter. The larger bike had 5000 miles on it and I purchased it as is (no warranty). Even so, a month later, when my engine began making some serious clunking noises, Dave volunteered to swing by my house during his weekly Chapel Hill run to take a quick look. He was concerned enough to advise me to cease driving it and offered to bring it to their shop to check it out. As it turns out, the problem was not as serious as it could have been, but definitely needed correcting. Dave offered to drop the bike off at my house during his next Chapel Hill run. Bottom line, within a few days, with minimal disruption to my schedule, my bike was returned to my door in perfect working condition. This is a business that you can definitely trust. I highly recommend them.
Great shop and service. Fair prices and communication. Would definitely use them again.
Dave and the other mechanics are first-rate. I travel a good distance to have my motorcycle serviced at Combustion because I know they will do excellent work and charge a fair price. Ive referred Combustion to other motorcyclists, and they have had received the same high-quality service.
This place has been very helpful. They know a lot about my Genuine Buddy scooter that needed a lot of work done. I am very satisfied with what they have done to my scooter and will be using them again.
I bought my first scooter from Combustion Cycles, and I did a fair amount of research beforehand. These guys only carry the highest-quality bikes which was the first sign to me that the place was trustworthy. Since then Ive taken my Buddy 50 in for a service and gone back to buy a few miscellaneous things, and on occasion Ive called with questions. Dave and Jason have been super friendly and helpful in the year or so Ive dealt with them and they really know what theyre talking about. I know where Im headed when the time comes to upgrade to a motorcycle. =)
Bought a used Vespa and it whips. Dave and his team made sure it was cleaned up and ready to go. Made sure I knew how to maintain it and also offered a riding tutorial.
New bike owner, called Rob when it wouldnt start. Over the phone he ran through a couple options, and one of them worked.Rob could have had me flat bed it in, then charged me for a tow and service but he didnt.Hes just a straight up good dude, and because of it - hell be servicing my Triumph Speed Triple for LIFE. Thanks brother, Ill be happy to hand over my money when it comes time for service with you.Jeff
I went to Combustion Cycles knowing nothing about scooters, and Jason was very helpful and friendly. He took his time showing me different bikes and answering my many questions about them and didnt pressure me to buy at all. When Id made my decision a few days later, the bike I wanted wasnt in stock, and it normally would have taken almost two months to get it due to the timing of the manufacturers shipments, but he arranged for me to have one in my hands within two weeks. And I love my new bike! He didnt push any accessories on me - he probably should have done so more! Since then Ive had a few questions and hes been very responsive over email or phone. Everyone else who Ive interacted with in the office/shop has been really friendly as well. Id highly recommend them!
Honest people; nice to work with them. They wont overcharge, and theyll tell you if something can wait or if you need certain work right away.
I had a good experience with Combustion Cycles. Got a good bike at a reasonable price. Dave and Desmond seem to know the industry really well. It is a garage and dealership. Will be going back for any work the bike needs.
Lovely gents doing much needed human interaction with scooter as my only transportation. Robs great advice got me the terrific little (pristine!) honda pcx 125 just when it came in! Dave even let me put money down on it for a few months until I could pay in full.Rob stopped on the highway on Cornwallis when he saw me pulled over speaking with another scooter rider to see if all was well! It was/is! Desmond has been wonderful giving me best info on servicing my scooter after these 9 months, printing out a page of what-all is done in the minor 4 tune-up and talking me through the details. And best of all Tallia took my info on the phone and got me a managers quote for the oil change (that I could afford!) the next day.The mechanic (dark haired guy with beard) got my scooter all set and even put a little more air in tires in less than a half hour. I was off to run errands and the 93 degree heat hardly bothered me because of this great service and assurance that I could budget for the more comprehensive tune up a few more months...Thanks, Combustion gentlemen, and Tallia!
I went in for an inspection and unfortunately, I needed a rear tire. No worries, they had what I needed and Lana got my bike right and tight for the summer. Thanks guys!
Got an incredible motorcycle at a very fair price from some of the nicest folks. Dave and crew made the buying experience super easy and were very helpful throughout the whole process.
Service was great, employees were very kind and helpful.
My scooters handle bar was bent. I took it to them to get a quote. They said that they cannot give me a free quote. They wanted me to leave my scooter there for their mechanic to take a close look at (i.e., open it up) and see whats exactly wrong with it, only after which they could give me a quote. And I should pay for the mechanic to do the checking. So basically I was told that getting a quote could cost me about $120. I obviously found that to be extremely nonsense! I took my scooter to Sport Durst Power Sports and got a free quote and amazing service.
Came in today and bought front tire for my 750, prices were in line with other quotes, dave pretty good about answering questions, guy working counter friendly and efficient. My bike is fun toy i bought for cheap to get used to street riding but still have good power and fun to ride, told the mechanic that installed my tire what im in it financially, what im looking to get out of it for my money, and since know its not perfect, asked his opinion on what need to do or prioritize to meet my needs for what Im using it for. He was pretty straightforward on what he felt was my asap priorities, what it could use thats worth doing for the money, and what might not be worth investing in for my plan with bike. Good to find shop that understands some people dont want to practically restore a bike, but buy a beater that needs to be safe, reliable, and fun. Great people. Derrick
They tried to overcharge me from the start I just had a nail in my tire they said I needed a new rim broke the assembly valve but they did put that back because they wanted to sell me a new tire and a new rim so they wanted over 150 bucks I went down the street got it done for $10 so if you black dont go in there I dont know how they treat white people but I got treated with the most disrespectful respect that I ever seen doing business
Super nice and helpful. Didnt make an inexperienced rider feel like an idiot and more than willing to educate. Twelve thumbs up!!
Professional staff, friendly service
Great place. Ive always had good experiences in the many times Ive been there. Dave, the owner, knows his stuff.
Definitely 3/3 on my 2001 XR650R motor rebuild. Delivered my bike from Va. for installation of a dual Sport kit and decided to have some indepth motor work. All correspondences and phone calls handled quickly and often direct with the owner. Final cost just as quoted and better yet the work is awesome. Lots of attention to detail and the execution has left me with the durable trust worthy bike I asked them to build. Now that the bike is back with me and being enjoyed I still get quick responses to questions associated with my end of maintenance or accessories when I email them.I will certainly use Combustion Cycles in the future.
WOW is all I can say about these guys! Everyone treats the customer right. I have been satisfied with all the service I have received. I have a 1992 Suzuki GSX1100g and have to keep the maintaince up since I ride it daily. I have had both tires replaced new brakes and wheel bearings and all the service was right the first time. Combustion is a great place to buy gear since they will not only special order items but make sure the accessories fit and you know how to use them. Make this your new one stop bike shop!
These guys are friendly and straight forward. They do a good job for an honest price.
If youre interested in bikes than combustion cycles is the place to go!
Super helpful, and knowledgeable. Especially for vintage (metric) air cooled machines (which is hard to find in this region). Nice custom builds too.
Pretty serious mistake, but I will give them a second chance since the work they got right was well done.I took an older bike in for major work, ended up being $1000+. I dont mind paying for quality work, but things have got to be done right if Im paying that much. Combustion did *almost* everything right, but close on repairs doesnt cut it.So, heres the story. I ran out of gas after picking up my bike (they did a carb cleaning, fluids, cables, fork rebuild, etc.). This was surprising to me since I probably had 1/4 tank when I dropped it off usually amounts to 20-30 miles for me and home is only 10 miles away. I did not make it close to home, probably 3-4 miles away from the shop. So I switched to reserve and noticed that THE CARB WAS SPITTING OUT GAS!!!! No wonder the tank was dry! I couldnt deal with it on the side of the road so I made it a few blocks to a gas station. Called them immediately. Lucky for me I have a small toolkit on my bike and they talked me through how to tighten the part that had come loose. That fixed it, but come on!
This place scuffed up the lips of my rims putting tires on my Cbr600. No they werent perfect going in. But they came out worst. I had a good experience the previous time though with my Ninja and had no issues.
Each time I ask this team has come through in a crunch for me !! Very professional and honest.
Friendly staff. Excellent service. Great work.
I was looking to go with a smaller name bike repair shop because i havent heard good things about the large shop in town. so i brought in a bike to these guys and, like other people have posted, found they did not call back with estimates or even when work was done. much worse than that, they tried to bill me for things that were not done as well as double billing (billing you for something that already comes with another component you paid for). all in all a pretty bad experience. only good news was that i saw the writing on the wall and left before getting taken for a ride. hope you do too and avoid this place all together. its a shame too since there is a big market for a a competent, dependable, honest bike shop in Durham...
Decent selection, decent work but as with anything get all work and prices in writing whenever possible
