Have have had great experiences in the past minus my last. My drink order was incorrect despite being good. Generally thier rotating roast choice is great. Space is clean and inviting. Great bathrooms if that is a factor in ones choice.
When I lived close by I was a regular here often. Amethyst is not just a coffee shop, they are a pillar for activism and safe/fair/equitable treatment of marginalized groups within the community. They care about coffee and people, and everything they do reflects that. The cafe has a wonderful relaxing vibe with natural light and plants. The drink menu is well curated and nothing is overly sweetened. The pastry selection is always awesome plus they have healthy options for breakfast. I loved when they did natural wine nights too.Plenty about their price structure is explained in other reviews and comments. If you’re making comments about the prices, you probably don’t tip enough and you should take a look at yourself and your choices. 😂 but honestly think about it. If your coffee at Starbucks is $4 and your coffee at amethyst is DOUBLE the price, you’re making a big deal about FOUR DOLLARS and that’s embarrassing for you. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
As an Actually Disabled service dog handler, I sincerely appreciate that the staff exercise their legal rights to ask the two ADA questions to keep both disabled & non-disabled guests and staff safe. Ive never felt harassed over having my task-trained and public-access-trained service dog with me, and certainly have never been asked anything about my medical equipment beyond the quick & simple (and legally allowed) two ADA questions. The service has always been exactly what I need when I need it- very politely unobtrusive on my low-spoon days and generously personable on days when I am more able to engage. I will keep coming back, and especially appreciate the opportunity to locally support the Slow Bloom Coffee Cooperative! Thank you all so much for providing a safe space for all of us!
Came here on a whim one morning after a massage, and boy, was it a treat! The shop is lovely and full of the most beautiful plants:) The staff was lovely, and helped me purchase the perfect fall drink, and warmed me up a yummy pastry🥰 I was pleasantly surprised to find the price included either tip, or the baristas are getting paid a living wage! Not sure which, but I love it! Ill be back for more caffeine and chill vibes💜 Thanks Yall!!
The iced mocha was $7.50! With the included tip and tax, you are out the door over $8 for a small cup of iced mocha. One size only and no straws. I asked why was your iced mocha so high? The rude barista then came over and began to explain about labor, rent and other costs associated with making my iced mocha. I said, I understand the way it works. She said to me For a moment, it did not seem like you did. Rude. I then asked if she had a straw. She said we dont have straws. Then, while pointing to my cup, she said See the hole on top, you sip out of it. More rude. If you want to spend a lot of $ on an average small coffee and rude treatment, Amethyst on Broadway is your place. Many other options around town, better coffee and at least $2 less. Bad experience.
I read two one-star reviews from customers upset about their treatment and the price rather than the taste of the food; of course, this meant I had to try it for myself! The interior and exterior are neatly decorated. Outdoor seating in the shade fills up quickly, so save your seat before you order if you can! I had an orange pastry (DELICIOUS), iced matcha oat milk latte (fine), and an iced chai latte (fine). I found the pastry to really enhance the lacking flavors of the drinks; they seemed very light when my sister and I prefer stronger flavors in drink. The prices seemed fine to me, I did not think it was more expensive than it’s competition. I also thought that the owner’s responses were very valid; small businesses have a hard enough time without the pandemic and signs are posted everywhere that masks need to be worn. I wouldn’t return just for the drinks, but for the pastries and the lovely staff, I would.
I really love to drink coffee especially if my day is stressful. Just like Yesterday. I was here with my two best friends and we enjoyed the day while savoring the taste of the coffee. The warm could really soothed my mind. I believe that coffee could help me relax. Thats only my stand/opinion. I dont know the others.
8$+ for a small coffee, service was not great. I will not go again. I really wanted to like it, and was looking forward to going here, but was quite disappointed. Maybe they need to pay the employees more? I asked for my coffee in a ceramic and they told me quite flatly “no” before I could even finish my sentence, and then proceeded to charge me 8$+ for a small coffee, quite higher than the posted price. Made me wonder did they add a tip without me knowing? Don’t get me wrong the coffee was good, hence the 3 stars, but wow the customer service was sure lacking.
This place seems popular and its cute inside but i dont think I’ll be going back. I ordered a cold brew with “just a little bit” of sweetener. The cup was filled over the top with ice, a whole ounce of sugar and then topped off with cold brew. I paid $6.50 and I truly couldnt taste coffee at all… just felt like drinking syrup. Felt zero caffeine boost. It was the most expensive cold brew I have ever heard of and wasnt even strong or flavorful :(Two stars cuz the plants were pretty to look at while I waited
Love the business practices, from paying staff real wages to individual cloth towels in restrooms. Chai latte rather bland, though
The friendly staff and ambiance of the shop was only improved by the quality of the drinks. I could tell the baristas were passionate about their coffee craft and the latte I got didn’t disappoint. The shop was in inviting and the options for both food and drinks were carefully selected. I was very impressed by this coffee shop.
I arrived in 6 minutes before the store opened so I decided to wait. The reviews I read said how above all friendly the staff was. The barista was definitely not friendly. There were literally two pastries in the case and she said those were all they had. Ive had their coffee before which was good but I left without having anything due to the unfriendliness of the barista and the lack of any food right. She said those were the only food they had when I inquired. She did not indicate that more were coming or that anything would ever be different. She was definitely not customer oriented. That was my second visit to this location and it was my last
Amethyst coffee is a great spot to check out. The atmosphere is very relaxing and comforting with great decorations and seating areas. Probably one of the coolest coffee shops around Broadway. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly as well, not to mention their skill with making exactly what you desire. The coffee is very high quality and had a varietal that I had been meaning to try. Definitely a must try if you are around the area.
The most amazing staff and owner babes. When you always feel like family and the coffee is bomb, it feels like home.
This is the kind of place that I really want to leave a positive review for. Unfortunately, my comments will be a bit more critical, though offered in the hope that perhaps they will be noticed and taken to heart. I do appreciate the vision of this place to offer their employees a living wage, and thus can accept that prices for standard drinks might be higher than what I would pay other places. However, coming from a customers perspective, when the prices are significantly higher like they are at Amethyst, the quality of the product and, especially the service, should match what is being asked of the customer. The quality is good - not the best in the Denver area, but good. The service...sometimes friendly, sometimes not. Sometimes helpful, sometimes impatient. Sometimes attentive, sometimes dismissive. Asking someone to pay over $7 for a basic latte when the service is unpredictable like this is not going to work long-term. Im definitely hopeful that things will change and this place will become worthy of its pricing structure!
My first home away from home in Denver and women owned and operated. One of the top 3 cups of coffee you can get in this city. they really care about the quality and craft of their coffee. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff. I love everyone Ive met at all the locations and even become friends with some before they moved on. Breezy and Elle are incredible people and owners. If you havent been already, youre missing out on a denver gem.
Nice place to have coffee first thing in the moring, sitting outside and people watch was a plus
Love the Chai mocha - great place to sit outside on the patio and meet a friend.
Amazing tea and coffee place. I love the aesthetic of the interior of the coffee shop.
I work from coffee shops a lot, and Amethyst Broadway is a treat - whatever I order is always freshly and thoughtfully prepared by their baristas. Dont miss their homemade cashew milk, which adds delicious creamy flavor to any of their drink options!I also appreciate seeing signs that coffee shops are trying to reduce waste - like the cloth hand-towels in the restrooms.
The unsweetened iced tea was good but it was NOT worth $6. They didnt even have a lemon wedge. Expensive with no frills.
This place is so cute! 🤍
Mind blowing service, nice area to sit and hangout with friend and family.
Cute vibe, cute baristas. Lots of non-dairy milk options for human beings woo dont want to harm cows with dairy. I love the specialty drinks, which are basically creative cocktails that use coffee instead of alcohol. They arent even that expensive ($5, not bad for a treat).I would like to see vegan pastries and foods. Parking is also tough. If they would eliminate products of violence in their store completely I would never leave.
I wanted to try this shop since reading about how they raised their prices to provide living wages for their baristas. And I absolutely loved it. The drinks were fantastic and the staff super friendly and knowledgeable. As a barista myself (for a corporate chain that shall not be mentioned) I completely understand how hard of a job it is, but also how rewarding it can be. I fully support this company’s attitude toward providing for their staff and I think we need a lot more of that in the world. Great job Amethyst!!
If you are a coffee lover, then this place is the best to visit. Their coffee really satisfies your taste at a very affordable price. The service was very harmonious that made my stay so special and remarkable. The interior design is very unique as well which is picture-perfect. I will highly recommend this coffee shop to everyone I know.
Oh this place was great! Only wish it had more business. I had the matcha latte, my boyfriend got an espresso, and our friend got a cappuccino. The coffee was delicious all around, and very good quality. The outdoor patio was lovely. The service was quick and caring (the employee brought our drinks out to us). It wasn’t too busy when we visited and I’m hoping that was just due to a slow time on the day. This place really deserves our patronage because not a lot of coffee shops get it just right.
A relaxing and elegant coffee shop! This little coffee shop is a must-visit when you have a plan to visit this town. They had the most delicious coffee in town. The pies, cakes, and loaves of bread in the coffee shop were so delicious. The staves were very accommodating and welcoming. I highly suggest this coffee shop to everyone.
5 stars for atmosphere-- everything is BEAUTIFUL & lighting is perfect, 5 stars for drink menu creativity & coffee selection, and 5 stars for cleanliness! Honey cinnamon latte was quite delicious, but pricey if youre not wanting to pay extra for good specialty coffees.Unfortunately not a ton of easy parking around, but if you snag a spot in their lot right out front youre good to go. Its free!
Their cold brew is amazing! Better than starbucks by a long shot. I went here because I am willing to pay a little more for my coffee if the people serving and making it don’t have to worry about where they are getting rent money. Thank you for paying your employees a livable wage. I will be back!
Two of the best shots of espresso I’ve ever had. I will definitely come back in the future.
I do not recommend visiting this establishment. The service was horrific. One of the servers clearly has anger issues and should not be in customer service.
Conveniently located across the street from the 11th Avenue Hostel, Amethyst delivers breakfast and lunch with that special Denver panache. Very impressed with the menu selection and the staff was very accommodating. They even helped me with my backpack when I was departing. Thanks for a wounder dining experience and Ill most definitely will return next year for another round of your most excellent cappuccino.
Slow service, especially since some staff was laid-off in order to give remaining staff a “tip-less” salary. Judgmental attitudes from staff and owner. Owners make sarcastic comments on reviews instead of addressing the issues. Plenty of other local roasters in the Denver area that make better coffee without getting an attitude...No shock, they are closing down!
I work a block over from Amethyst, but I have a hard time walking over there most times - but it’s amazing when I do!I’ve never seen a cafe align with my values and principles, while also having amazing coffee and pastries.
Good atmosphere with good service. On the pricey side with a latte at nearly $8.
I love so much of what Amethyst is doing. A fantastic sense of style and design, great coffee, and a host of various progressive social and economic programs to positively benefit the larger community and their staff. In a time where consumption and ethics are so frequently discussed, there does not seem to be many better places to support.
Love the chai and specialty tea!
Love the vibe of this place and what they stand for. I have been to both locations in the Denver area in which I noticed a difference in their espresso which im not sure why but both were delicious! Plus I appreciate their unique flavors, names of drinks, and small trinkets in the shop.
This is the most overpriced coffee that I have ever had. There was no menu online or in the store, and when I ordered a 12oz latte with cashew milk I was told that it would be $8.36. This is close to 2 times the price of a standard latte and I could eat a full lunch for this price! When I heard this, I said that it was more expensive than I expected so was going to leave. The cashier then snapped and said we have already started making the latte you ordered so you have to pay for it. Not wanting to get into an argument, I decided to pay for it. However, dont you think you should wait to make an order until someone pays for it so this doesnt happen? All in all, it was a terrible experience. And the best part is the coffee isnt even good.
I wanted to love this place as I try to support local businesses when I can. I never leave reviews but after paying over $6 for a cup of lukewarm black tea with a dash of cinnamon I about lost it. The staff was rude, they looked bothered that I asked for cinnamon which costs 75 cents extra. Perhaps if I was served with a smile it would be easier to justify the expensive prices. Unfortunately, I won’t go back.
The coffee is not bad, but for $6-8 no thanks.. Its hard to justify paying that much when I can get a coffee just as good with similar ambience elsewhere for half the price. I cant recommend going here with how high the prices have gotten. Also, reading through other reviews, the owner is fairly disrespectful and dognatic towards valid criticism.
Great iced chai tea. The two guys working were really friendly and helpful. Ill definitely go back.
Honestly, this used to be a great coffee spot. The coffee is absolutely great and the atmosphere matches. I moved out of the neighborhood recently so I haven’t been there in over 3 months and my most recent experience was poor at best. The server was rude off the start. He was short and seemed bothered that I was there. Whatever, dude could be having a bad day. Then i find out they raised there price 100%. A $3.00 coffee is now $5.75. Give me a break. This company is taking advantage of the pandemic and using it as a reason to raise there prices significantly. Not good business and not good morals. Will not buy here again.
Excellent as always, with the added bonus of a living wage for employees. Plus Im finally free from the need to perform mathematical calculations during an early morning interaction. Win/win!
Well done raising your wages to a standard thats actually liveable for Denver! Wish more companies would follow in yalls footsteps. If anyones complaining about paying $6 instead of $3 for a cuppa made by other humans who have bills to pay, maybe just make it yourself at home.
Rude service. Why would I pay as much as Starbucks, for inferior coffee, and extremely rude baristas? Never coming back.
Great shop with quality coffee run by good people. Used to love spending some time on the computer here pre-COVID.
I used to really like this place, but they’ve changed from caring about the customer to caring about forced tips and double pricing everything. I read the owners last response to a different customer with a similar complaint, and it was rude. Be careful with voicing your opinion because you’ll get called out and scolded. She’s not nice in her handling of customers, and based on the prices and their behavior, I don’t think they will be around too much longer. The owner seemed straight up abusive when I was there. There’s too many options out there to be treated badly, forced to leave a tip for that bad behavior, and then get ripped off on pricing. The coffee I had was terrible, and I ended up paying almost 8 bucks for it. Since they started roasting their own, it is really dreadful. Don’t waste your time with this unpleasant place and save your money. I’m getting my coffee somewhere else from now on.
Really tasty oat milk latte!
Absolutely love this spot! There are some great benches outside the coffee shop to sit and people watch on any day rain or shine. The staff are always nice, give great suggestions and have a smile on their face.
This place is decent, but they just tried to charge me $1 to splash my coffee with Oat Milk. I’m not saying a latte. I’m not saying a fancy drink. I’m saying a splash of dairy-free creamer is almost as much as the coffee. I drink a lot of upscale coffee around town and I have never... never! Anyway, if you are dairy-free, choose another shop.
Very smooth, crisp coffee and great patio space to work on or meet friends. Prices are a bit higher but if you were tipping the right amount before, it probably wont cost much more than what you were paying.
Overpriced coffee. Shop is too into virtue signaling. I want a coffee, not a social lecture. Also, since staff is no longer tipped, there’s no need for them to provide excellent costumer service. Owner also responds to criticism very rudely and states she’s glad to lose costumers. Not really a good business model...
I was here yesterday, a first time. Tried a chocolate mocha. Missing the Starbucks whip cream - it seemed okay. As I drank more I found it was so well made. Truly surprised. Nice flavor, enjoyable consistency with the perfect level of sweetness - all the way through. Definitely a reason to return again.
Everything done right about a coffee shop, great atmosphere, great employees, and great coffee. It has this hipster tone to it when you walk in that makes you really feel your in the middle of Denver. The loft area is also dog friendly, pet owners like to leash their pets outside while they get coffee, the pets themselves are in a comfortable area and usually gets great attention. The staff is very knowledgeable and ready. Even overheard heated conversation about certain coffee taste based on location. It’s nice to see a the level of passion here.
Great place, been going here for years, high quality coffee and great attention to detail, also they pay their employees a living wage 😍
➕ Six stars for being pro-worker.➖ One star for responding unprofessionally to critical reviews. Seriously. Snide, defensive responses validate bad press.= Five stars for being pro-worker.
I particularly enjoy this coffee shop. They serve alcohol as well as coffee, and they know their drinks for sure. They also have a wonderful patio. The shop tries to be as eco friendly as possible. Support local business and skip Starbucks.
Definitely a delicious breakfast. We were told it was about a 20 minute wait for 4 at 10 am on a Sunday, but I think it ended up being about 5 minutes. We had eggs Benedict, French toast, corned beef hash. They also brought over a delicious pancake which was delicious - I think they may have forgotten to put our order in initially and sent it over as an apology which was totally not needed but greatly appreciated.Good vibe, nice people - definitely worth a trip!
Great coffee! I had the iced mocha and it was delicious. Very chill vibe & would be a great place to read a book or get some work done. Hope to be back when Im in the hood.
What a wonderful staff. This was my first coffee shop in moving to Denver and they were all super cool! Good sencha tea :)
Fantastic. Everything I expect out of a coffee shop. Friendly and attentive staff, cozy atmosphere, and most importantly, excellent coffee. They offer a choice of beans for your espresso. I dont think Ive ever had an espresso grind from Honduras, but I was impressed. Proper extraction, properly roasted beans, and served with properly carbonated sparkling water. I will definitely be coming back.
Favorite shop in Denver. WiFi is iffy so dont plan on computer work (but do plan on disconnecting from the interwebs for a sec and getting some inner peace here!) Amethyst is a truly ideal space to meet up with a loved one and enjoy drinks. It is also great for reading and just enjoying clearly intentional and stunning design and BRILLIANT (bold, tasty, perfectly made) coffee.

Extremely overpriced. Very disappointed.
A great coffee shop on Broadway close to everything! Amazing chai. I love that they make their own non-dairy milk in-house. They carry vegan pastries/goods at times, too. A sweet, inviting environment to top :-)
I miss sitting and working here with the wonderful staff and the excellent coffee.
I visit several coffee shops each week with my girls (I work with women getting out of prison) for mentorship meetings. I was not pleased the first time I visited, but I came back a second and a third time. I have come to the conclusion that my first impression was wrong and I will return. Yesterday I even drove out of my way to visit your shop and thats saying something!! Friendliness brings me back!! Can I suggest you make coffee ice cubes for your iced coffee??? I would LOVE that!
