Always a great experience here! Chris is awesome and super helpful. Great service in and out in 30minutes or so. Avoid weekends if possible always more appts and crowds. In the post pandemic world they still sanitize and double sanitize everything and do they best to social distance. The appt schedule to prevent overcrowding helps

Just moved into the neighborhood and my kids (5 and 7) needed eye exams for school! The Dr and staff was amazing and very good with my nervous kids. The Dr was amazing and I highly recommend her for kids! I learned a lot too!

The check-in staff was very friendly and quick! My wait time in the car until I was invited in (COVID) was maybe 5 minutes at most. Between checking in and seeing the doctor, I waited maybe another 5 minutes.Dr. Mathson was incredibly thorough. For the first time ever at an eye appointment, someone took the time to respectfully explain what she was doing and why, what she was seeing (showed me!!), and provided recommendations. I really felt valued.The woman I checked out with was also very professional and thorough. She broke down potential pricing and explained all the details of my insurance.I was in and out in about 40 minutes.

My daughter and I had a great experience here at this office! It was Madalyn’s first eye exam so she was a little nervous heading in. From the first step in we were greeted by Christopher and Renee who were very bright and upbeat on a Tuesday morning. They did pre tests for the Dr. and had us try on some glasses for fun. Madalyn was ecstatic! Then came Dr. Zimmerman. She worked so well with Madalyn making her feel extremely comfortable and was able to keep my daughter engaged throughout the whole exam while still providing a thorough eye examination. I was very impressed! Madalyn left feeling very upbeat and went home to practice eye exams on her own dolls! Needless to say we will be back next year. Thank you so much to the entire staff for making us feel so welcomed!

The optometrist was professional, efficient & thorough which I appreciated. Convenient location, patient and friendly staff. Received my new glasses in 2 days! Got a sturdy case for my glasses, cleaning cloth & a 1 year warranty on my lenses and frames. Definitely found my new eye center! Be aware that the office is on the smaller side, selection of frames in store is limited and will fit smaller faces better. Also if you prefer complete privacy when discussing pricing, insurance benefits etc. you probably wont get it as the area for that is shared with the waiting area and surrounded by frame displays. Plus side they are transparent with pricing and billing so dont be afraid to speak up with any concerns. It may still cost a few hundred dollars (insurance & discounts included) but you cant put a price on your vision & quality care and products often cost more.

I have been struggling to find a trustworthy eye doctor for the last year. After a year of poor experiences at other offices, I found Village Eyecare- South Loop. I had an exceptional experience here. They were very knowledgeable and patient. I will be going back here to continue my care.

Village Eyecare will take care of you! I came in for an annual exam and because my current glasses had been giving me a significant headache. Dr. Sathchakham was very thorough and explained the way my prescription changed and why that was causing my discomfort. The team in the front of the store helped me find the perfect pair of new glasses for my size as well as my budget! They even fixed my old glasses so that they would sit more comfortably on my face. At the end of my check-up, they found the lenses for my new prescription in the store and made my new glasses for me on the spot. I walked out 20 minutes later with my new pair! A great experience from start to finish.

I have been coming to Village Eyecare South Loop for 2 years now and I absolutely love it. Appointments can easily be scheduled online and the appointment reminder text they send me the day of is very appreciated. They have great hours so I dont have to miss work and the appointment moves pretty quickly so Im not sitting around waiting to be seen. Everyone is always very friendly and helpful. I will definitely continue to come back!

February 2018: My favorite pair of new glasses that I just purchased in October broke. :( I was so upset and thought for sure Id have to find money to find a new pair. I was greeted by Chris when I entered who was helping several people. He told me he would be right with me. I just had my first annual eye exam here yesterday. When I called to make the appointment, the receptionist was very easy to talk to and polite. I was able to complete all of my paperwork online so checkin was easy. While I was waiting the receptionist helped me look at some new glasses and when I met with Dr. Matheson, she was so easy to talk to, very patient and answered all of my questions. When I got out of the appointment, the receptionist had already pulled a bunch of glasses shed thought I would like and I was able to pick a pair and go home with them right on the spot! (I was just lucky they had the exact frames in house that day). All in all, I am very satisfied with my experience.

Was looking to fit in an eye appointment in the very short term, and was thrilled that Village Eyecare had openings within the next couple days. Was our first visit and everything went amazingly smooth, to walking out the door with the new glasses! Couldnt complain about the price at all, and all forms of service were great. Will definitely be going back.

Dr. Mona is very competent and has great chair side manners. Chris is awesome. Front desk is great too. Just one suggestion on providing multiple options to the patient. Not necessarily provide the most expensive option first.

Really great experience for my first time having a vision appointment.

This was my first time there and the staff was extremely welcoming. I called to make an appointment about a week ago and they made sure my insurance would cover the eye exam prior to the eye exam. Everything went smoothly during the appointment too. Dr. Zimmerman (I think that was her name) was very professional throughout the process. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Ive been seeing Dr Mathson for my annual eye exam, and more recently for Lasik surgery post-ops. Ive had nothing but great experiences with her! Shes patient, kind, and explains everything in detail without condescending. As a matter of fact, all of the employees at this location are great. I would recommend her to any friends looking for an optometrist.

Each and every person that is staffed there is super friendly and always has a smile on their face. Dr. Soon is very attentive and knowledgeable, highly recommended. The selection of eye ware is very diverse and they even support other local businesses by stocking Drift, a Chicago based eye ware maker that uses real reclaimed wood and biodegradable plastic for their frames! You are certain to fall in love with at least one of the glasses available.

I LOVE Village Eye Care! The quality of care and the attention to detail is hard to find these days. The doctor is very thorough and leaves no stone unturned when it comes to your eye health. The staff here are wonderful! They greeted me right away and got me set up with paperwork which was really fast since they contacted insurance and verified my info ahead of time. The office itself is very comfortable, they have a wide selection of glasses and sunglasses and mirrors all around :). They also have coffee and water available during waiting, though the wait for my exam was fairly short and I tried on frames in the mean time. The exam went well and was easy, and the prescreening was also pretty quick. Dr. Zimmerman was great in answering all of my questions. Also, location is really easy to get to!

I had put off going to the eye doctor for several years, after a disastrous clockwork orange threat at my Ophthalmologist. Unfortunately in the last 20 years Ive come to realize that pinch and zoom only works on my smartphone. I just encountered a transformative process at Village Eye Care. Doctor Mathson took me through a holistic and thorough eye exam and consultation. Thus, I learned many things about my eyes that I wasn’t aware of. Moreover, as a result of her extremely meticulous eye exam approach, we discovered that I needed to make significant changes to my eye prescription. We tried different prescriptions and landed on a prescription that has changed how I see the world. I can REALLY REALLY see now. Dr Marthson also taught me how to tactically and strategically care for my eyes in an efficacious manner. It is extremely obvious that she has a very deep passion for what she does. She is angel and I will never forget what she did for me!

I have been going to this location for about 4 years now and they are so pleasant. The doctors take their time and really pay attention to your concerns. They do a wonder job of explaining everything they are doing so its easy to understand. After claiming I had eagle vision for 20 years, my wife insisted I get my eyes checked. This was my first eye exam as an adult and they were so helpful explaining the process and showing me how poor my dreamily good eye sight really was. They were great to work with!

UPDATE: I visited Village Eyecare for my second (or third time). I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time which annoyed me. While waiting for my appointment I saw 2 or 3 people picking out frames and getting fitted. It sounded like they all had insurance which covered about $175 and they still walked out of there spend $500+ on new eye glasses. It seemed to me that this is very much a sales office and not an eye doctor. I have never needed glasses but after meeting with the doctor was prescribed glasses with VERY little prescription. So instead of spending $500+ on glasses that I dont REALLY needed the sales lady said I could go to Warby Parker and spend $95 (includes frames and lenses). Just be careful when you go here as it is very much a sales pitch and a business trying to get you to dump a ton of money on glasses you might not actually need.Old Review: Everyone was really friendly. I did have to wait about 10 minutes past my appointment time, but other than that I have no complaints. The office is small but gets the job done. I would definitely recommend to people in the area!

Village Eyecare has the best eye care Ive been searching for. Both doctors are very serious about eye care and take a lot of pride in there profession. I appreciate the service from both doctors and the support from Elaine, who has helped me pick out my frame. Ill be going back to Village Eyecare as soon as I need another eye exam and glasses. Some people may think that theyre too expensive, but youll have to pay the money for excellent, good quality, and professional eye care service. They have lots of after-work appointments, so it was easy to make the appointment, which started on time and went smoothly. I returned a few days later to look at glasses and they kept track of my choices until I was ready to make the decision a few days after that. I went in for an eye check-up - the first one in over 15 years - and the appointment went overwhelming well. After filling out a little too much paper work, they did the first test and did not have to wait much longer to see the doctor. The doctor did a few other tests and explained all of the results in detail. I seems I might need a light prescription and the doctor did not push getting glasses, rather told me to think about it and make my own decision. Everyone was very nice and helpful. If I buy glasses, I will definitely go back and recommend them to others.

They were very accommodating when I called for a same-day medical check for my daughter. Dr. Koutnik was very thorough and professional. I was also able to observe the staff helping another client choose frames, and they did a great job. Im looking forward to getting my next glasses there.

Ive been going to the South Loop Village Eyecare for 4 years now. I only go once a year for a yearly checkup since Ive had Lasik, however they remember me as if I go there every month. Im not talking about reading my chart remember me, Im saying I walked in there randomly to schedule an appointment and Christopher said Hey Sebastian! Hows your Lasik? after almost a year of not seeing me. Everyone that works there is nice and professional. Thankfully I only have to go once a year for a checkup, but if I had to go more I wouldnt mind it. The doctor is great and they have a computer changing the lenses out on the eye exam machine so they are keeping up to date on technology as well. I would recommend it!

Ive been coming here since I moved to the South Loop in 2009. As always, received great customer service. They also keep improving the tools they use as technology keeps improving. Great all around service and selection of eye wear.

I had a wonderful experience at Village Eyecare. The place is very conveniently located in the South Loop, clean and my first immediate impression was that it smelled awesomely like fresh balsam. I commented on it and Christopher at the front desk explained that had had just changed the plug-in. I was very impressed with all three individuals I interacted with -- Christopher, Elaine, and of course Dr. Sood. The staff was exceptional and incredibly helpful and knowledgeable when it came to handling insurance matters (Christopher), answering questions/giving suggestions when picking out frames (Elaine), and giving a thorough and realistic explanation of my eye health as a result of extensive contact wear on my part. Dr. Sood was very knowledgeable and took her time answering my questions to ensure I chose contacts that were both within my budget and best for my eyes. I had a lot of questions about which type of contacts (daily vs bi-weekly) would be best for the health of my eyes. She answered all of my questions thoroughly and attentively. I was very impressed with how personable everyone was -- I highly recommend this facility.

The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. This was my first time going to an eye doctor and getting glasses, so I had a lot of questions and they answered them all with patience and care! When I requested for my frames to be turned around quickly, they sent them to the lab and had them ready the next day.
