Went here for some afternoon coffee and picked up a slice of banana bread as well.I got a banana bread latte and a slice of banana bread. The banana bread latte I couldnt really taste the banana bread in the latte but the actual banana bread was delicious. The latte tasted more like just like a latte with like a little bit of cinnamon taste I guess I was expecting more of a banana bread taste but nonetheless it was good. The staff was really friendly and helpful when it came to the menu. Ill be sure to swing by again and have some more coffee before I leave.Update- my wife and I came back for breakfast this morning and it was amazing. I had the biscuits and gravy and she had the seasonal grits and both were really really good. Also I found out that the banana bread latte that I had the day before is actually made by taking some of the banana bread ends and instead of using syrups which makes me feel way better about the latte I had and changes the whole review that I wrote so Im going to upgrade this to a five star. The staff that worked yesterday was also there today and were absolutely amazing again so nice kind everything you would want when you go to a restaurant or coffee shop and definitely will be going back again before I leave Chicago.

We were in the area for the Chicago Marathon weekend. This place was packed and it took about 45 min to get food (as the staff projected). Staff was kind and responsive. Drinks came out quick. When the food came it was hot and delicious. Downside is the amount of bees in the outdoor area. So bee mindful of that 😅 and cover any sodas or fruit drinks to deter the bees while you wait.Ordered a bag of bagels here too. Was nice to have that bakery as an option as well.

Came here with my husband on a Saturday morning and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Also appreciated the mask mandate still in place. Not sure about the back and forth on reviews regarding staff but we didn’t have any bad interactions. The guy at the register even brought our food to the table which I don’t think they normally do. We had our infant and stroller so that was appreciated. Food was amazing!

Cool ambiance and I like the outdoor feel. Next to a historic park and in a good location. Food took longer than quoted. Portion sizes were small for the price. Would not return.Originally a 3 star review. Sending an automated reply saying you dont read less than 4 star reviews and scapegoating the pandemic shows your true colors. Pandemic doesnt have much to do with portion size and instead of acknowledging that food could be provided quicker you tell me to follow my own advice. I will follow my own advice and never patronize this location ever again.

My friends and I were looking for a place to grab some food before heading out of Chicago and we found Spoke & Bird nearby. The sandwich was good and the employees were nice but at the end of the day I waited over 50 minutes for a sandwich and a coffee…and then they forgot my coffee. I ended up having to leave without it which was a bit frustrating.

Cute outside courtyard for dining. Ordered coffee and a juice at the outdoor barista counter. Our breakfast was good. One disappointment was the extra charge for a slice of toast with my omelette. The tiny slice of wheat bread cost an extra $3.50. The bread that comes with the breakfast sandwich is unusually huge so getting a little slice with my meal was disappointing.

Pretty setting tucked into a historic part of Chicago. Had some tasty cheesy grits with mushrooms, onions, carrots and a very good coffee. Outdoor patio with plenty of shade trees and space between tables. Or take it to go and wander the nearby public park and historic homes (Chicagos oldest the Clarke House). Close proximity to Wintrust arena, Mc Cormick place, south Michigan avenue (formerly Chicagos motor row), historic 2nd Presbyterian church. There is an attached park district field house which is a great venue for kids birthday parties.

My take: Ok, not stellar. Outdoor seating was decent with generally good shade, and the wait staff was very good. Our food order had a variety-- grilled cheese for my granddaughter, Chicago dog and grits, mushroom sandwich, and a salad. There was absolutely nothing wrong with any of the food, but there was also nothing that stood out enough for me to return unless I was already in the area.

Edit: Because of the snarky response from ownership and the numerous snarky/rude comments from ownership on google reviews, I’ve dropped the rating to a 1. I highly recommend you check the reviews. This restaurant is not motivated to change any of their behavior and it’s obvious that the treatment of the customer comes from the top-down. If you like overpaying for an average meal and don’t mind staff being rude for no reason, then try it out, otherwise, stay away.Food was good quality, however, staff was almost entirely rude. 3 people from our table were “coached” on the rules of the restaurant. Masks required at and outside venue against CDC recommendations. Yelled at for moving a table 5 feet without any clear signage stating not to or any staff to help us. Was demanded to make sure we cleaned up our table as we were actually cleaning it up and moving table back to where it came from.I get it, probably understaffed and trying to be lean, but asking nicely goes a long way.

We love Spoke and Bird. Besides having the loveliest outdoor patio in the city, the food is delicious and the coffee is always on point. The employees are very nice as well.My husband and I go typically every weekend for a late breakfast. Our go-to orders are the classic breakfast (eggs, bacon or sausage, and toast) and the egg sandwich. Yes, they are basic breakfast items but the quality of the food elevates them. Every week I dream of the thick-cut, greasy bacon and my mouth waters. If you want something else, they have a large variety of other menu items without it being overwhelming. It does take a while to get your food if you order to-go, but my suggestion is to order online ahead of time so you minimize your wait time.

Quite possibly, they craft the best latte I’ve enjoyed outside of The Pacific NW. For those coffee aficionados, I have a La Pavoni at home, proving my love of a perfectly pulled shot is deep and true. The staff are delightful and enthusiastic in answering questions. My beverage and food were delivered timely and cordially.I enjoyed the oatmeal and a bronut with my oatmilk latte. The oatmeal is creamy and textured quite proportionately. The fresh fruit and nuts compliment the oatmeal well. A bronut is the delightful outcome of combining a brioche and a doughnut. Delicious and fun.Today is a cool day in Chicago, perfect for enjoying the ample outdoor patio.I look forward to returning to sample other delights.

First time visit and my last, Not worth it... Overly priced, long wait for a simple burger that was over/undercooked?Seriously, a 30 minute wait for a burger that was over cooked and undercooked on two different sides. The very fact I waited that long, I had high expectations that this was going to be a good burger in a little hidden gem of a neighborhood and to my disappointment it was a dud!. Theyre quick to take your money but long to serve, a little too complicated in my opinion of just cooking a burger patty regardless if its made fresh in house.Restaurant looks trendy with a catchy name but I highly recommend that you figure the cooking aspect out if you plan to retain any business on the Southside.Youre better off going to Subway down the street, at least you see and know what youre going to get at a third of the cost.

Super bummed about this place. It sounded so good. There is no place to eat if its crowded. Not enouh chairs. The service was awful, and when I finally got someone to bring me butter they brought it, in messy hands, in a little plastic cup.The ketchup is house made & tastes gross. Its very vinegary smelling. The egg sandwich I got was cold & turkey sausage wasnt flavorful. By the time I got the meal it was cold. The grilled cheese was definitely an acquired taste, as they used aged cheese. My daughter didnt eat any of it. Total waste of $12. When they did bring us our meal they said you know we have a kids menu right? But it wasnt on the menu. You had to ask them for it. Bad service. Bad food.

The cafe offers a great experience for guests of many occasions. The pricing is fair, given the moderate portions, but is well worth it when the quality of the food is considered. The food is exceptional and showcases the great local taste of the midwest, as most of their ingredients are sourced locally (even the beer!). The staff is friendly and the space is wonderful. Ive gone here in the past to get work done on my laptop in their dining room/coffee shop space, but Ive been enjoying the patio as of recently. This is a great place to get work done, to catch a meal with friends, or sip on few rounds of drinks in the evening on the patio. I highly recommend a visit to the Spoke and Bird.
