Philz is quickly moving into a go-to coffee spot. Their iced coffee rose is sweet and delightful and maybe only outdone by a even more stellar Turkey Bacon Burrito. Their other baked goods - ie blueberry muffin and almond croissant are super tasty as well. Enjoy seeing their mission, growth and additional locations around Chicago!

This is my favorite coffee place. Pour over customized coffee! Can be busy on weekends but they have online ordering if youre in a rush. Coffee here is just so smooth and vibrant. And they sell full pounds of coffee, ground or beans!

Got a regular cup of their famous Tesora coffee, with cream. It was ok, but I found it to be nowhere near the quality that Ive had in my time spent in CA. I make it a point to go to Philz everytime Im in CA, and Im always blown away by how delicious their coffee is. I was disappointed by this Chicago location. The shop itself was nice, but the cup of coffee itself was underwhelming and disappointing.

Freeking amazing coffee!!!I wandered in just to get a cup of coffee. Then I waited while they prepared and brewed my individual cup. I dont know if it was pour over, or some kind of magical Americano, but it was just perfect. I started my day here every morning on my visit to Chicago.

Even though this place is totally busy, it is worth the visit because the coffee is excellent. There are a lot of options and they make it for you fresh. They even let you try it to see if you like it. There are a lot of places to sit though you might not be able to find a spot. The owners dont seem to mind if people hang out, so its a nice atmosphere with great customer service. Other businesses take note.

Coffee is done well. They really need to reassess their burrito situation though! I ordered a green chili burrito and a sausage burrito and I am not exaggerating one bit, they both came with nothing but eggs, cheese, and undercooked potatoes. Extremely dissatisfied with that.

Perfect place for coffee enthusiasts. I had never heard of Philz until I moved to Lincoln Park, I walked in thinking it was like a normal coffee shop. However, they have a plethora of different roasts to choose from and every cup to ground and made to order via pour over. Excellent concept, and a perfect place to explore flavor profiles for black coffee drinkers like myself. Will be back time and time again for sure.

I was at this location on 1/26 in the evening with my family, and being from the southwest suburbs I do not normally come all the way up to LP to grab coffee. Regardless, I am glad I did. I mistakenly ordered a drink and when I realized my mistake (after paying and tasting it) I asked the barista if I could get a new drink. I offered to pay for the new drink, but he and the cashier waived the fee so I could have a great experience. That was incredibly kind and awesome customer service.

Review №44

This is the best coffee Ive ever had and I go here on a regular basis. It just seems like 5.50 for a regular cup of coffee (after tax) is a little expensive. Depending on the time of day seating can be difficult to find. If youre looking for something better than a Starbucks check this place out. The only comparison in this price range I can think of is the Intelligentsia located in the Plum Market on Wells and Philz blows them away in terms of product quality.

Stood in a long line for a very average tasting cup of coffee. Its about five bucks a cup, and for that price you would think it would be amazing.... it wasnt. Didnt have any food but that looked like it would have been good had I tried it. Atmosphere wise it was very nice which keeps my review above a one-star. I have no intention of going back to Phils ever again. Left Philing pretty disappointed

The set up of the place is so strange and confusing. There’s a sign telling you where to go for the coffee line, and then you’re on your own.Unlike a normal coffee stop, where one person takes your order, someone makes it, and you stand off in a waiting area, and then grab it. Here you stand in line, then you’re suppose to know that there’s multiple stations that can take your order, and know when to go to the correct one. I ended up standing in the wrong area for a bit, and no one bothered trying to help. Then they use the honor system, and have you go walk to the other side of the shop, and tell the cashier what you ordered, and pay. Then you stand around in the way awkwardly, because there’s no convenient waiting area, and attempt to hunt down your drink, because there’s no designated drink pick up. If it’s your first coffee of the day, and you’re half asleep, you’re in a for a real treat!!And for the drink...I got the Chai Tea like coffee. It tasted fine, but as I got towards the end, it was all chunks!! I’m guessing they just pour loose tea into the coffee. It was awful. Never again!

The Kouign-Amann was excellent. The coffee was very good. It was exceedingly expensive, but I knew it would be when I went there. Very cramped, but I knew it would be when I went there. So whats the problem? Herein lies the problem: This company hails from San Francisco, the epicenter of liberalism and the climatology-ecology-environment movement. So when I asked for a for here cup so as not to have to use a throw-away cup, which I always decline to use, they didnt have any. (I hadnt planned on going there, so I didnt have my thermos cup with me.) All they had were paper cups. Now, since the worker assured me these were recyclable, I reluctantly relented, but when I looked for a recycling bin, I didnt see one, so I actually held the cup in my hand all way home on the L train to throw it in my buildings recycling bin. I commented about this to the company upon receiving their e-mail receipt and the How did you enjoy it survey that comes along with it, but I havent heard back from them yet. Maybe they should invest in ceramic cups (and the inevitable inconvenience of having to wash them) or, if all the parts of the paper cups are truly recyclable (which I somehow doubt), make sure theres a recycling bin in plain sight for those of us that really care about the tons of garbage coming from coffee shops in the form of one-time usable cups and other eating utensils.

This place is well overrated, very expensive and really not a good coffee at all. Coffe varieties taste all the same, very tart, very harsh. They say Turkish Coffee, i am from Turkey and trust me nothing even close to our coffee. Please dont mistake it with real Turkish coffe. I dont understand it at all!

3 stars for atmosphere -- the internets fast, the seating/table space is varied and comfortable, and the bathrooms are nice.-1 star for price: a small black coffee is $4 and tastes...fine-1 star (as another reviewer mentioned) for a weird, needlessly complex ordering/payment/pickup system

They only serve regular coffee (no specialty espresso drinks or anything like that) that’s kind of odd in my opinion but whatever. I got the Tesora medium roast for $4.60. It was ok. I got an almond croissant which was really good! Worst part: I got the turkey bacon burrito. I overheard one of the workers say she left it in the oven too long but they still served it to me. It was pretty bad cause the tortilla was like a cracker. I won’t come back

On my first visit here I was standing in line a bit confused by the menu when one of the baristas came up to me to explain how things worked. Loved the service, drink/food and the atmosphere!
