I had a bit of a tough time finding it, it’s in a shopping plaza - look for the coffee cup sign. There’s a lot of outdoor seating, which is nice! They were short staffed the day I was there and the service was a little slow, but it was worth it! The food was delicious!!I’m happy I found it when I was traveling through Charlotte.

Wanted to try since I was close in the area. And to test the online reviews. It was hard locating if your driving by since it’s tucked away between 2 buildings. The outside patio is small, but decent. Inside to place your order is very tight. To be honest I was not impressed with my food. Below I ordered The Impossible Burger- California style which came with Lay’s potato chips 🧐. I also added the Orange Sunshine Juice which all totaled $26. For what it’s worth, the burger is no different than any other impossible burger with the same condiments & ingredients. Compared to the other TOP vegan spots in Charlotte, I can honestly say it’s good but not great.. Needless to say, I can check this place off my “to try” list.

Vegetarian place, vegan friendly. Eclectic, but nice staff. A lil pricey, but Im sure its because most of their menus is locally sourced, and not wholesale/bulk. Food was tasty, just a lil pricey. Nice for a lunch with friends, when weather is nice (seating is outdoor only, although covered - Im not sure if they have heaters for winter).

I was so excited to have biscuits & baked goods from a mostly vegan restaurant. I travel around often and i love trying small local vegan spots and the atmosphere was so cute and welcoming but the experience was disappointing and underwhelming. The biscuits and gravy had little gravy, the mac and cheese was beautiful but didn’t have much flavor and the coffee beverage we ordered was watery or lacking flavor. I was most disappointed in the price inconsistencies and lack of labeling. I never mind paying more for vegan food, but hardly any prices were displayed and the ones that were seemed to be inaccurate (the canned beverages had a sign that said 1.29 but ended up being 1.99 and the donuts were fairly priced but one ended up being over $5)However, the staff was very friendly and tried their best to be helpful but answered questions they definitely did not know the answers to which was not helpful ultimately, which would have been resolved if there were labels because I understand that the employee(s) were new.Unlike other reviews, the atmosphere and service was pleasant and timely however I was just underwhelmed with the food items.

This is a great little place if you or someone you are eating with is vegan or gluten free or just making healthier choices! The southwest impossible burger was on special and so delicious. I also recommend the customizable avocado toast as it’s the perfect light lunch with a smoothie or delicious coffee! Don’t forget to try the fried green tomatoes! Yum! There’s a pretty little patio area and friendly, courteous service! Only open until 4, so go early enough to enjoy it!

I was told to wear a mask which is fine I did let them know I was vaccinated and she then explained that people are still getting it again which was fine but then she looked at her Co worker and made a face like she had a problem with me. I am also doing a door dash and working just like she is. I would never come here as a patron because of how she just really made me feel uncomfortable

I stopped in really quickly on a quiet afternoon. I wish I would’ve planned to stay there because they have a beautiful outdoor garden and patio area that would have been great to have lunch at. I ordered the lentil soup and an iced coffee made with Noda cold brew, house made almond and oat milk, agave and cinnamon. Delicious is the only word that describes both these things. The iced coffee, in particular, was just perfect. I ordered mine without ice because I don’t like cold drinks and it was still super creamy and refreshing. The lentil soup had the tiniest bit of spice that gave it a kick without setting my mouth on fire.So glad a friend recommended this place. They have all kinds of toasts (including gluten free) with avocado or almond butter and berries... everything looked delicious. Great customer service also. Definitely will return if I’m back in the area. Oh, they are a little bit tucked in, in the shopping center behind First Citizens Bank; plenty of parking!

Hidden gem! It took a minute for us to find this place because it’s tucked away, but that only contributes to the charm. And it was so worth the work!! The outside garden is super cute, space heaters were available for chilly days, they had great food options (vegan and vegetarian), and the staff couldn’t have been any nicer! We brought our pets and sat outside, and the staff were so kind and even brought our dog a ‘puppaccino’ for free :) Definitely will be back!

ESL is the cutest little hidden gem! Tucked away in an unassuming shopping center is a lovely, tiny, inclusive space with a small menu of vegan and gluten free meals and snacks, including the Impossible Burger and at least 3 varieties of avocado toast, almost everything locally and regionally sourced. The owner is super sweet and usually present, and she keeps the place spotless and charming. The patio is unexpectedly neat, set up along a corridor with a garden and lots of eccentric decoration. If you’re looking for an unpretentious, progressive spot to grab breakfast, lunch, or a smoothie, don’t miss this one!

I was so surprised to find a place worth such personality and taste! The almond toast is such quality and so wholesome. The potato leek soup is new but it very rich and creamy. I love that there are such huge chucks in the soup and the cheese is on top really compliments it. I love how they are such big supporters of locally and ethically sourced materials too! Huge bonus! 5/5 I will definitely come back again to try other things on the menu.

Wonderful addition to our neighborhood. Friendly, welcoming staff, tasty treats. Please remember that small businesses are truly on the brink right now. They take a real hit from petty one star reviews. If the owner has responded honestly, and kindly and asks to make it right with you, maybe you should consider doing the right thing and remove your poor review. We dont even know the owner but we do know this is a great locally owned place with a warm, inviting atmosphere and good eats and treats. One of the best things this place has going for it is the genuine hospitality shown by both staff and regulars. Its like a refuge in a city where terrible service is the norm in the corporate owned spots. This shopping center has renewed life with this local eatery, Barts Mart, skate shop, Dairy Queen (to replace the old historic Central Ave location), Portofinos, etc.. Go look and try! Happy 2021 all, small businesses need your continued support.

This place blew me away. Summary: JUST GO TO HERE. Exceptional service, quality & atmosphere. Delicious menu; something for everyone, and/especially vegan/vegetarian friendly. Comfort food that actually makes you feel good!My experience: immediately & warmly greeted by the owner. Told her it was my first time & she succinctly walked me through the menu options and where to sit, all that. Everyone there seemed to be a happy regular; she knew everyone and their favorites. Two regulars helped me choose what to order and were infinitely patient about it. The owner was so lovely & inviting about everything please use the restroom, its an art gallery! Please sit and enjoy our garden. The beautiful patio garden is like a secret oasis tucked in the strip mall - dont be fooled by the lack of curb appeal, the atmosphere is lovely. Enjoyed the chicken-less (tofu) chicken salad and fresh squeezed juice. I already know its a meal Im going to think of and crave until I can get it again 😄

Great atmosphere and friendly service.But... As a vegetarian I go to vegan/vegetarian places a lot. And as someone who comes from SoCal Im used to the prices... This time however, I was surprised how expensive it was. The size to price ratio was quite off. Small sandwich 13.99? And chips sub soup extra 3.99? Ok... But why serve packaged chips as a side? And Lays... Cheapest brand that is polluting out planet so much... Food comes in a plastic containers. Which arent recyclable or biodegradable... I made a choice to be a vegetarian so I leave less trash behind... But this isnt how I imagined a vegan restaurant to present themselves. Especially when you have heath conscious signs around. Such a shame. This place has such a great potential... QC needs more vegan places!

We didnt wait long at all and to be honest, we ordered a lot of food, so again very impressed! The outside patio seating area is like a secret garden..very cute & inviting. The FOOD IS AMAZING!!! We ordered a lot of items and my friend is not even Vegan or Vegatarian but he humors me and trys a lot of things to be open minded and be my eating out buddy. Just had the best time hanging out with Gina and Brenda, the owners of Eastside Local Eatery. They are so fun, laid back, and hilarious! If you’re a musician, ask them about their music stories; they have toured with numerous bands and have some awesome stories!! I really dig the vibe here. Their patio is the perfect place to get some work done and to enjoy your coffee or food outside (rain or shine). The coffee is incredible! I love the fact they give you cubes of coffee instead of ice cubes for your cold coffee drinks so the water doesn’t dilute the coffee. I sampled the Japanese Ice Coffee which had a very pleasing and refreshing taste which I plan to order in the future. Decided to go with my de facto standard Iced Caramel Latte... smooth, creamy, and very drinkable! Not overbearingly sweet, but sweet enough to where you can still enjoy the coffee flavor. I plan to come back soon and often to try the food, which looks and sounds delicious. I highly recommend this spot!- Adam from Appetite + Adventure@appetiteandadventure
