We stopped into Amelies for a quick stop before going to take out little pup for a walk. The bakery had a large selection with tons of macrons and other classic deserts such as eclairs. I ordered a Napoleon, one of my favorite dessert. I will say that it was hard to cut/eat but the flavor was spot on. They used a more marscapon filling, though I always prefer pastry cream. We also got some croissant sandwiches. The coffee was okay but the cappuccino I ordered was one of the better ones I have had
My experience was not good at all. All the pastries are at least a day old and if you do order something that can be better warmed up, they do not even give you the option. I ordered a cinnamon stick and I swear to God I could crack someone’s head with it. That’s how hard it was. The service was it even that great either. I guess that since this is one of the only bakeries around the area, people come here but when you compare it to other bakeries….. real bakeries, this is definitely a one star experience . Thanks but no thanks
Love love love this place. Clean, staff is friendly and well versed in the menu and daily items, and they get stuff out in a timely fashion. I love this cafe and bring friends and family regularly!
Always a great place for some French food and to hang out with friends! Top notch pastries. You cant beat their flakey and buttery croissants
Delicious and much more than a bakery. They offer a large selection of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pastries and more. They also offer a very quaint place to sit and have a light bite to eat. Sooo good, no matter what you choose.
The chicken salad croissant was ok. The sticky bun was delish! Service was good.
I’m a longtime Amelie’s customer. I’ve been supporting them since 2005 or so. My favorite things to get are:- macarons- salted caramel brownies- apple turnovers- cinnamon twists- breakfast sandwich on a croissant- fig, bacon, brie open-faced sandwich- quiche of the day- chai lattes- the seasonal lemonade
We work nearby and love grabbing coffee and a pastry at Amelies. Such a great environment and always friendly staff!
Three of us went there for lunch. Crustless quiche was not great, and way overpriced for a very small portion of mostly egg and very little else. Salad was okay, with a tasty homemade dressing. Asparagus leek soup was very tasty. Coffee was very good, and bakery items were excellent, but a little pricey. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Without a doubt, pre-pandemic, this place must have been amazing, a go-to place for locals. Love the mini tarts. Great selection of pastries, even late afternoon. Not sure if this is typical, but the employees seemed slightly disaffected or sarcastic. Not sure why. I visited a couple of hours before closing, and the place didnt seem very busy. Still, definitely looking forward to go again.
Tried the breakfast sandwich on a baguette, rather than the typical croissant and loved it!Now I prefer the baguette! It was lightly toasted, crispy and actually easy to bite into. Substantial and delicious ....and love that you can choose your cheese and other additions.
Nice place that I was able to finish some work at. Seemed quieter than NoDa location. Found a cool little working nook by the fireplace. They were accommodating to my vegetarian needs as I was able to create my own sandwich. It was a grilled cheese on a croissant with caramelized onions & sliced apples. Really good pot of tea also.
I have been loyal to Amélies for years and years. Over the last several months, I have had consistently run into issues (wrong order that I can’t eat) and attitude that is uncomfortable. I have reached out to customer service to no avail. It saddens me to write this.
Their pastires are really small for the price, and some of them like the eclairs are overcooked. They close to early, the should stay open on the weekday until at least 10. Theres no where to hang out in Pineville where its not a bar environment. But other thank that, the place is great. Love going there for our meetings, meet-ups. Occasional sweet tooth. Just to get out of the house and relax. I wish they would have installed some sound proof panels or something, it gets loud when its packed. I like going there when its quieter. Love their loose leaf tea options. Hard to find good tea around here if its not a tea shop.
Love Amelies. Its one of our go to places for sandwiches and coffee in Charlotte. Their bakery is amazing!
It was pretty good, the whole staff was friendly, the tea was great. The eclairs however were not the best, and tasted like it had been frozen. Kinda that taste when you eat a cream puff from a china buffet (this is reflected in the score). Anyways the macaroons were delicious! And the building is beautifully decorated.
I love this location. Lots of seating. I haven’t sat outside, but it looks like there is a lot of outdoor seating. The staff is really helpful, too. I went to order an iced coffee of some sort and the woman taking my order double checked that I knew that it had 4 shots of espresso, which I didn’t. So she figured out another iced drink that would be similar, but with less kick! And no matter what dessert you order, it will be delicious.
Came today, me and my friend ordered ice cream macaroons... I guess they didn’t have them ready so the guy was doing it hurry and turned out so messy and the plates were dirty... macaroons were melted and not frozen at all. It used to be my favorite thing to order last summer but with lavender ones... this year I’m so disappointed 😰😒😒😒
Amelie’s is known around Charlotte as a top coffee and pastry shop, but it’s so much more. They also have a great breakfast and lunch menu and wine/beer.Personally, the South Charlotte location is my favorite. They have enough tables and an outdoor patio. Inside there is a fireplace, multiple living room style seating areas, and a dozen chandeliers. Parking is also the best at this location. During the week it’s a good place to work (Free WiFi) and grab a French Press.
Excellent French bakery with variety of options, which inhibits decision making and challenges you to limit your purchase. You just must indulge, everything is delicious! Dont forget the macarons
A heavenly dessert and coffee place! Never disappointed when I come here! There are two locations in Charlotte and this one is their newest one. Honestly I think it needs some live music or something entertaining while I eat my macaroons and eclairs or whatever my heart and belly desired that day!You will leave this place in a better mood guaranteed! So many things to choose from and I’ve heard their food menu is delicious too. My blood flows the other direction after eating here which is a euphoric feeling! Enjoy!!
I stopped in for a little something sweet and I tried the fresh fruit tart, absolutely delicious! I must say it satisfied my craving !!!!!!Thank You Amelies ❤️
Had lunch at Pineville today, and it was delicious...Had not eaten at A’s in several years and was happy to see the expanded menu...Safety during CoVid is respected ( bravo) ; ate outside at Noon, and the service was great, and the baguette and soup were outstanding! We will definitely come more often...Great job Amalie’s !
Amelie is an eclectic coffee shop/restaurant/bakery, where you can have soup and sandwich with one of a variety of teas, or creme brulee with freshly made coffee. The best part is the pastry shop, with all different goodies, usually made in the shop. My favorite is the aforementioned creme brulee. Prices are reasonable, the service is good and there is ample parking, right off the Pineville-matthews road.
I love this place! Its huge on the inside, much bigger than I was expecting when I first visited. I like that they have lots of window seating, and the crazy decorations give the place a nice character. The prices are super reasonable and the coffee is good. The have gender neutral bathrooms! Lots of tasty desserts, as well.
Love their desserts! I had their mini-tarts and a cappuccino. Mmm! And they have outdoor seating so you can enjoy it fresh.
I contacted via email requesting information about reopening for in dining but i never received any answer back. Even though mask amd other restrictions have been lifted the store remains closed for in dining. Not convenient at all for customers who have been using Amelies for long time.**Thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment.
Delicate pastries and tasty sandwiches. Received friendly service and loved everything we tried!
Aways amazing. Amélies is my favorite treat in Charlotte
French bakery that has an airy decadence of pastries you cant find anywhere else here in Charlotte. Clean, covid compliant and absolutely stunning desserts and coffee. I bought alot but I ate them all before I realized I didnt take pictures! Thats how good everything looks and tastes there.
Not as good as it used to be. My drink didn’t taste like it had any lavender simple syrup and the macarons left much to be desired.
Try the salted caramel brownie, you will not be disappointed. I also highly recommend the breakfast sandwiches and the seasonal soups. The asparagus leek soup is my favorite. There is also a variety of specialty coffees. If you like espresso, you should try a cafe fouette. It is strong, so be ye warned. Im also a big fan of their lavender honey french soda.
Is there an option for 10 stars? Since I was little Ive never been as huge a fan of candy as I have been baked goodies. I have NEVER experienced a place where EVERY treat is absolutely ridiculously amazing. I just moved from NY to NC. Out in NY Italian bakeries are all over. This is my first French bakery, and let me just say, you guys makes those Italian bakeries look atrocious. Every time (three times now) Ive walked in, just the looks alone of the treats, I cant seem to only get one treat. No, I buy like $50 of treats. As I said Im not a huge fan of candy, so generally Im not a huge fan of caramel either. Your caramel bars are insane. PURE INSANITY how delicious they are. Thats stating an opinion of something I generally dislike.... if we go to the stuff I DO like... its like going to heaven. If there is one type of candy I like its dark chocolate bars. SO, I had your mirror(?) dark chocolate and raspberry treat, I LOVE dark chocolate, but Ive never seen it used in anything but a standard dark chocolate bar. I actually got emotional eating it, Im pretty sure I had visions. Thank you for the experience!
The place and service are great. I just wish they opened till later on the weekdays. They close at 9pm so if you’re a student or someone who works late and want to hang out with your friends, this won’t be an option. Other than that, this place is very nice and the location is awesome. Lots of seating areas.
Fantastic food and coffee. This place is authentic French and clearly makes everything in house. Get a croissant and a coffee (they have an extensive coffee bar) and sit outside on the patio! The decor inside is a mish-mash of everything... crazy colored chandeliers, mixed chairs, funky artwork, and little surprises everywhere you look!Very delicious and I highly recommend!
One of my favorite Cafes and Bakeries. They provide an excellent product and do so with a smile. I have had many meetings at this location and many times just like to stop by and grab a quick latte. There is no way I would go over to a National chain coffee shop when I can go to Amelies.
I worked at a pastry shop when I was 16 and have spent the last 20 years looking for a pastry shop that could match or rival with my first love. THIS PLACE IS IT!!!! This place far exceeded my expectations, i have been to many pastry shops with beautiful cases that meant nothing when it came to taste. The almond tea cakes had a light crunch of freshness on the outside edges, delicately light and moist on the inside!!! The cream on the strawberry pastry was light and airy but not too sweet, which I abhor and feel is commonly a sign of unrefined baking in mass production. You can tell they put the love into these pastries! The coffee was killer to boot!Luckily, I was leaving at 6 in the morning for a trip and stopped here, what a treat to be open that early. I really cannot recommend enough! ❤️❤️❤️
Fast in service and ordered to go. Well pack and fresh. Much enjoyed.
I was so happy to discover this place. Best European style desserts, baguettes, croissants. They are very attentive to safety. Theres an outside seating if you choose to take a coffee break
Very good quality, but higher prices. A little lower would be much better, so Ill only visit every now and then.
I wish Amelies would open a location where I live now. Their pastries are superb. I love their Hazelnut tart, but have been disappointed that it hasnt been offered for a couple of years now. They always tell us its seasonal, but which season? Please bring it back! I like the mirrror tart, tea cakes, twice baked almond croissants, petit gateau, French macarons, pecan sticky buns and palmiers. Dont worry, they offer more than that! I have to mention they also have excellent soups and sandwiches. Be sure to try the Asparagus Leek soup!
Love the style/vibe/atmosphere! I love the eclairs and almond croissant. The eclairs use to be bigger. Now they are tiny. Bummer. I didnt like the strawberry gateau, tasted like nasty premade store bought cake, tasted like really sweet nothing. I feel like a lot of the items are over sweet. When its busy there is no seating and the open seating have dirty plates and food on the table.
Great experience. Pastries were delicious and servers were helpful and friendly
The Amelies bakery follow all CDC guidelines. No dining in at this time. Floor markers in place also directing customers which door to exit out. I enjoy my short visit.
I ordered a chai latte, but I think I was given an espresso with milk. Very bitter drink. Delicious pastries.
At 4:40pm the Food was I ordered was not right taste and people work was so mean that exactly place. I don’t feel very respect!!!! Never go that place again anymore. I prefer other place the Amelie’s was polite manners and perfect order was taste so good!! You will lose the customers because the employee!!!!!!
I miss the large carafe of coffee, seems its not offered anymore. The fresh brew, lattes, and mochas are enjoyable. Mochas are darker like European versions rather than the typical sweeter American style The real stars are the fresh pastries. Amélies reminded me why people like macarons (small, colorful French cookie in multiple flavor options) since regular store-bought options are dry and bland. These are fresh and delicious! I also love their coconut macaroons... try both! Unlike the Uptown site, though, the staff wasnt especially friendly today. They also didnt ask light roast vs dark roast and didnt offer cream or sweetener, requiring another wait in the line. They werent rude, exactly, just distracted I guess. I assume it was just the day since Uptown staff was regularly positive and friendly. Coffee and food were great as usual though.
Always the best customer service, very friendly and of course clean location. Even if you get there late night you will still get a big wide selection of deserts. Price is very reasonable for the good quality and service.
Best Coffee and Pastry shop South side of Charlotte.
Great food and atmosphere. No inside seating yet, but plenty of room outdoor
They would still not let people sit down or use the bathroom / wash their hands. Its 2021, not 2020.
Amazing. Fig, bacon and brie...yummy! Also, the chai latte +espresso is heavenly.
So fun! Enjoyable place to meet friends/family. Nice outdoor seating too. I love that they have pricier options as well as a cheaper option (so my toddler can get his own treat and not break the bank).
Hands down the best bakery in Charlotte. Always find our way over to one of their locations to get a few treats. Cant go wrong with the key lime pie.
This place is my favorite dessert shop and coffee shop. They always are have the best service, a clean environment, and tasty treats.
All though this is a lovely place, there is no seating inside. only outside about 10 tables, the chairs are not comfortable to sit on. However, the concept is cute and I like anyone could enjoy a french bakery.
I had sausage and eggs. Was good. Their coffee was very good. Definitely recommend.
Dessert and espresso was phenomenal and sitting out on the front patio was very peaceful.
I love this place, the vibes are immaculate. My mom, brother, and I went after he had ankle surgery and they were so kind to us. I always get a latte and a few macarons, which are always so delicious.
