BUYER BEWAREBurnsville Trailer Hitch Seriously Disappoints. They grossly fail when it comes to customer service.When they installed a new trailer hitch for my BMW 5-series sedan, they removed an accessory that was in use at the time. They had to remove it to install the trailer hitch.When I learned that this feature was no longer functional, they were quick to deflect and avoid accepting any responsibility.- The manager asked, “Didn’t you read the technical specs?- The manager suggested that I discover a workaround.- The owner (?) blamed me.Now, for an every weekend activity, it will cost me more money and take more time. To help accommodate, the owner (?) did agree to give me a special ball to help with the inconvenience. Despite several attempts to connect, he has not responded.Working with Burnsville Trailer Hitch was a disappointment. I have yet to use my newly installed trailer hitch, but based on their initial work, actions and behavior, I am worried.

Just found out that when installing my receiver they drilled in such a way that it potentially compromised the way the trunk was supposed to crumple in an accident. In addition I had asked for a 2 receiver and when I showed up after hours to pick up I found a 1 1/4 receiver installed. Overall the installation was 2x what I felt it should have been (ok if it was for the 2, not for the smaller) plus an additional $2k in lost value because it was apparently improperly installed (and this was never mentioned to me up front). Hitch was fine other than that and worked but overall extremely annoyed and disappointed. Would not recommend or use again.

Id been trying to get a trailer hitch installed on my 2013 Toyota Prius so we could attach a bike rack to carry my bike and my wifes e-bike. We called a number of firms locally and it always seemed like it ended up being a wild goose chase of setting up appointments where we were then told that they didnt have the parts - more than once too. Honestly one of the best experiences that I have had in a long time at a repair/retail business. The owner/manager was extremely helpful, just a genuinely nice person who was happy to help, and I wasnt pressured into buying anything that I didnt need. They have an offsite warehouse with what seems to be a sizeable and broad inventory, and they were able to pull what I needed within 30 minutes. He recommended a great lunch spot up the street and I was able to enjoy a great lunch while I waited for my parts. They also helped me inspect my current hitch/receiver and helped me in verifying its towing capacity so that I didnt go through the headache of getting an aftermarket option installed(since the hitch on my Ram is integrated into the bumper/bumper brackets. It wouldnt have been a cheap job to remove the old hitch and install what I thought I needed) Thanks again! Even if its a bit out of your way, give Burnsville Trailer Hitch a call, the service and attention you will receive will be worth the extra drive.

Refused to give me refund on my deposit for work to be done 2 weeks in advance. Called back in less than 24 hours to cancel but refused to refund me.

If I could give negative stars I would. They misinformed me and then yelled at me and hung up on me. I wouldnt go here or trust them.

Great experience getting a hitch installed in my wife’s new suv. They got me in within a week and it was reasonably priced.

Called them about 10am and they made time for me and my 79 Dodge. Had full wiring and class 4 hitch installed. Their crew was amazing and knowledgeable. I am more than happy to pay for the peace of mind in knowing the job was done right the first time. And that they proudly stand behind their work. I will be sending anyone who has similar needs to them and that is something I rarely do. Great job guys.

I stopped in here after lots of phone calls with other suppliers who were not helpful.Once I got ahold of Lance at Burnsville hitch he found the product I needed in a bind and offered a reasonable install price but due to time I just bought the front mount.I will now forever always use these guys for service on my trailers and anything trailer related. These are the go to guys. Ask for Lance!

DONT SHOP HERE These guys straight up robbed me. $715 for a basic hitch install no wiring on my 4runner, dishonest about the work they did and wouldnt make it right. They are rude and not helpful. Was really doing my best to support a small business.

Very overpriced. I can’t say anything about their service, but I needed a base plate installed on my Suburban to tow behind my Motorhome. I already have the base plate. For just installing the base plate with no wiring done, they wanted $2500. I thought that was a little outrageous. So I called around to other Blue Ox certified dealers and got some estimates. All 3 that I called, gave me estimates ranging between $475 - $800. That really got me upset with Burnsville Hitch. I just made an appointment with one of them to do the work, with all the wiring for the lights and also the brake buddy system that I have also installed. They are charging me $1,089 for all that work. Burnsville hitch is definitely ripping their customers off. I recommend that if you use them, to call around first and get other estimates and see for yourself.

Fixed my wiring problem in less than a hour

Brought in my 2016 Santa Fe to have them wire up brake lights and my Prodigy brake controller. They did a great job - very clean. The wiring looked good. Mounted the 7-way jack on the hitch - well done. They also mounted my Prodigy brake control on the underside of the dash - very nice.They were easy to work with and got the job done both on time and with obvious experience.

Get a written estimate before starting work. I had a breakaway device that became unbolted from the bumper of my tow car. I dropped my car off at 7AM ( as previously arranged) and also asked for a safety check of the tow bar. I was charged $348. The owner made no effort to communicate with me even though I left my cell phone # and invited texts. I know business owners are busy and texting is faster. At 4PM I drove down to see the status of my tow car and pick it up. Spent nearly an hour on the premises waiting for them to finish my vehicle. While waiting, another customer came in to pick up his Honda Pilot which had a new hitch and break controller installed. The customer was surprised to get a bill for $400 more than he expected, an obvious miscommunication. The owner is aloof and cocky in my opinion, I would never do business here again.

The Friday before Memorial Day weekend I needed a hitch badly. Despite being without power due to a storm the night before Hank and his team got the job done BY HAND without power tools. These guys are dedicated and knowledgeable and the customer service is second to none. Excellent choice for all your trailer needs!

Have purchased two hitches from these guys and both times the service was excellent. I installed one myself and had them install the other. I would definitely recommend you let them do the install. It was very fast, they were flexible, and the price is affordable especially when paired with the level of service they provide.

We are leaving MN today to move back to CT. We reserved a trailer somewhere else and we came to find out that the signal and lights weren’t working on the trailer. We quickly found out something was wrong with my car. The company we were renting the trailer from didn’t know what the issue was. We went to a car shop that couldn’t help us. We were referred to Burnsville Trailer Hitch. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted. We explained our situation and they immediately took the keys and brought the car into the shop. They did an awesome job installing the hitch and braking system for my Lexus 2007 RX350. Frank was the installer / technician and he was very helpful in explaining options that I might consider with the braking system and how it would work and install on my car.I appreciate very much that he took the time to communicate so I would understand and could be informed - this was helpful when I went to take the system off for my next car.Great experience working with them - I think they take pride in good customer service and have integrity for their work.

I have purchased 7 hitches and wiring installed and the price was always between $450 and $475. This time the hitch and wiring installed was $555. When I asked about the price increase I was told there were price increases and I was getting off good. Since then I have price checked and found I was gouged. They do good work but check prices before having it done.

Buyer beware. Shady business practices. They reference a retail, public-facing website (Rigid) as their pretend internal system. The website and pricing they use is available to public, yet they mark up all items 25%+ beyond regular cost. Compare for yourself and AVOID unless you dont mind paying extra for the privilege of buying a part from them. On the plus side, the people there are friendly and helpful. I dont think the people working the counter realize they are ripping people off.

Absolutely amazing business!! I needed wiring done for my car hitch (after U-haul goofed up my appointment time). I called in the morning and they said they had an opening later in afternoon. I got there a bit late due to a car accident on freeway, but they got my car in, put in the wiring, gave me a few tips to keep it working well and they did it all in under an hour. The cost was very reasonable and I am extremely happy with the service I received. If you want good workmanship and want to be treated like youre a preferred customer then have your work done here and you wont be dissatisfied.

Our bike rack got jammed in the trailer hitch, and we were unable to pull it out. My husband brought our vehicle to Burnsville Trailer Hitch and was assisted immediately by one of the mechanics. The mechanic was unable to dislodge the hitch manually so he put it on the hoist where he was able to dislodge the rack from the hitch. He then sprayed it with lubricant and took the time to show my husband what he did. He also pulled it out several times, just to make sure the problem had been fixed. Thanks for the great service!

I stopped in last week with a tail light issue that threatened to put my landscaping work truck out of service and talked to Eric. I expected to make an appointment and was not looking forward to having my truck down for service. Eric helped me out and since the front desk wasnt too busy, he offered to come out and take a look. They did a great job installing a trailer hitch on a 12 year old van I was given. Underside had a fair amount of rust and even some damage, but they were able to reinforce it and put on a hitch that is rock solid. Great guys!

Brought trailer in two weeks ago to be fixed. Checked on it today because we happened to drive by and saw tire was removed. It was in to have stand fixed.Went in to ask what was going on as there was nothing wrong with tire and we need trailer tomorrow. They told my husband they were working on brakes and lights, but there was nothing wrong with brakes and lights.They had lost the original work ticket that was for the stand repair.My husband was told there were trailers there that had been there 3 weeks; however, when my husband brought the trailer in two weeks ago they never told him it wouldn’t be done by this weekend.My husband was told he could take his business elsewhere because they couldn’t get the correct issue resolved by tomorrow

The technician made extra effort to ensure my older Yakima bike rack fit and even sanded it down to ensure that the rack slid smoothly in and out of the hitch. Was in and out in less than an hour (Sat a.m.).

Two years ago I had Burnsville Hitch install a Brake Controller on my Subaru Outback. I was so pleased with the whole experience that when I bought a 2018 Outback I drove back to Burnsville Hitch to have the new one installed......from St. Joseph, MO to Burnsville MN is about 400 miles....Yes, I was that confident with their quality....and would do it again.

Completely rude on the phone. I was referred to them by a Cadillac dealer. Their rep couldnt understand the model of Cadillac suv I was speaking of. I asked for a quote and they hung up. I called back and another rep answered saying previous rep just went to lunch. No information was communicated between the two about my call. Their rep told me to go somewhere else. Frick and frack here, I do not recommend!

These guys give good service for a fair price, and I dont know what else folks could want. They got me in for a wiring harness install with no wait on a Friday afternoon, had the parts for my SUV in stock, and have an air conditioned waiting room for you to hang out it. I guess maybe it would be good if they had wi-fi for customers to use for the hour long install time, but honestly, thats if youre really searching for something to complain about.

UHaul messed up my trailer hitch install beyond belief, so I brought it in to Burnsville Trailer Hitch. They finished the job, fixed the problems and sent me on my way in about an hour. I was extremely impressed, and the dudes were very helpful! I should have came here in the first place.

I bought a 5th wheel hitch that was a special order. The staff was informative and responded to my phone calls promptly. I was very happy with the customer service. I would have given 5 stars if they were open on Saturday so I could have picked up the hitch on a non-workday (i.e. M-F).

I came in with a rusted reciever hitch. I was prepaired to pay $300 for a new hitch. They worked hard on my truck for 40 minutes and got it un-stuck. A great bunch of guys. I will come back to them with all of my future hitch needs.

I brought my Car to get a hitch added, fine on the hitch part. When leaving I was like where is my hitch cover. I bought my car YESTERDAY, NEW. GMC Terrain Denali, had a hitch cover which I have pictures of. The dude who installed the hitch completely disregarded me and instantly stated ive worked here for 16 years, I Didnt take any cover off.... are you kidding me? Your boss decided to have your back, fine. At least look for the cover and dont tell me to contact me dealer, which i did, came with a cover. Biggest waste of my money knowing how they handle business after the deal was done.

Product is good, but services isnt. The employee that check me in was ok, but seemed rushed...the employee (possibly the owner) who checked me out had no personality and suddenly my bill had 4 additional items (ball hitch, lock and key, receiver, and misc shop supplies). These items were never discussed and I didnt need them since I already had a set. It felt like they do quick add ons to everyone to make some additional money. It raised my bill by 40 bucks. When I pointed this out to the employee he seemed bothered by me and the fact that he had to write a new invoice. I can handle their lack of personality maybe their were just really busy...but be sure to be clear on what you would like to buy and keep your eye on your invoice.

I would recommend this place for great service and parts availability. After my 2days research this is where I end up buying parts and get serviced. They had stock of my hyundai 2017 make which is not available with uhaul, autozone or even with Hyundai dealership in Twin Cities. Moreover, they gave me best price with discount and offered cheap installation fee that no one else did. The guy is very friendly and has good knowledge for suggestions.
