Looks cute, but ordered using the Too good to go app. The were very annoyed, unfriendly and were mad that I had never used the app before. I confirmed my order after a staff asked me to swipe, and a woman working behind the counter came and lectured me about waiting for her to watch me do it. The food was also sardines and sausage, so I only found use of the cheese. I felt talked down to and rushed. I think its a mix of their culture and disliking young black people. Wouldnt come here again because of the cold treatment. But Im sure old white ladies have a great time here.

Get all your Russian food needs. Do not go if you are in rush. The line can move slowly at times. Lots of groceries for a tiny store and tons of hot food and Russian style torts. Small but entirely respectable produce section with great prices. Carry great пельмени. My go-to spot for квас and other Russian specialities you wont find in typical American stores. Alarmingly large selection of fish in various preserved forms. Кончено они говорят по-русски.

I went to the Bazaar in Brookline this past week and had a wonderful experience with Dianna who helped me pick out some very delicious items including an outstanding Norwegian salmon which had a subtle smoky and mild flavor. I also purchased mushroom crepes in the prepared food section and eggplant in a spicy red sauce. I enjoyed both very much. Dianna was so good at explaining what things were and so very nice that she made the shopping experience a really enjoyable time. I will be back to further explore and buy the delicious smoked salmon that I am now hooked on.

I feel the quality went down overtime. The salads are nice but the pastries and baked goods are not great anymore. They used to also have better choices of caviar, now it looks like they changed things around to meet the high demand.

This Bazaar location at 1432 Beacon St sales expired products and products with a fake manufactured date. A month ago I had a food poisoning from deli mean I bought here- was sliced and packed at the store, I was not able to check the expiration date- in 3 hours from consuming it I had a massive food poisoning and I havent eaten anything but that. Previously I had to return items such as caviar, herbal tea (with snails), herring, etc.Another day I stopped by and noticed sweet cheese bars on the shelf- all of them were a month passed the maximum allowed storage period. I have passed this information to the store manager and she stated it would be taken care- in 2 days a came to that store again and most of those bars were sold, leaving just a few on the shelf.Today I went there on purpose to check if all of there products were passed the expiration date- and yes, there were a lot...and in addition to that I managed to by an ice-cream made on February 26th 2020...its May 17th of 2019 today. Very concerning. Previously I have seen them storing ice-cream for more than 2 years from the made on date- with the maximum storage period of 12 months.Selling expired goods is illegal and can have many bad outcomes to public health. I will not return to this store again and would advise same to everybody.

This is a little Russian grocery store. It has a very wide selection of items that is very impressive given the size of the store. There is wine and liquor, cheeses, pickles, a deli, prepared foods, desserts, baked goods including bread and pastries, preserved fish, caviar, fresh produce, a nice dairy section, tea, Russian snacks, cards, newspapers and magazines, candies, spices, etc. Its a good place to get uncommon grains (buckwheat and whole oats), and to try new desserts (Russian honey cake, yum!) that you order by weight and snacks (I love the Russian marshmallows called zephyr). I can get some nice seasonal fruits and they always have good cabbage. I am impressed by the dairy selection - lots of options for kefir, sour cream, butter, and all the eastern European cheeses you would want. They even have Russian ice cream. My husband likes the tea and jam selection. If you are ok with surprises then you can get by here without speaking Russian. There are a lot of packaged foods that dont really have english on them (just the ingredients are in english). Its a pretty crowded store. They do 15% off on the 15th of the month.

The quality of food has been consistently declining over the COVID-19 summer at this place. Some items were disappointedly not fresh and hard to chew. I now have to ask each time “when was this salad made?” But for curds cheese cakes, I didn’t ask, thinking they would have to be from today... and alas, they were cold and not eatable. Probably 2-3 days old. The beet soup was mooshy too and tasted off.

Understanding what this store is and isn’t is a part of appreciating its charm. It is *not* a top quality gourmet grocer. Rather, it’s like the comfort food version of a Eastern European Grocer - those soup spices your mom used growing up? They’ve got them. That roe pâtè your aunt used to eat? They’ve got it. The cheap cookies your grandpa always had out? They’ve definitely got them! This is all about the comforting familiarity of the cheap, down home, classic brands and products of anyone that is from, or grew up around, Eastern Europe cooking.

The best store for Russian and Eastern European food and merchandise in Boston to my opinion. The only tiny thing, they scanned one item twice when cashing me out. The Bazaar in Allston is a nice Russian market with a small assortment of fruits and veggies, plenty of interesting grocery items, and a pretty nice prepared food section. I am not Russian, and dont eat that cuisine very often, but there are certain things that I would only come here to get. One of them is a dried salted fish that my girlfriend enjoys, and they seem to be the only ones that have such a thing. They also have a very good prepared eggplant dish and beet salad. If you are in the market for any Vodka for the favorite Russian in your life, they stock a variety of options to choose from. Most of the staff speaks Russian, but they are able to help you in English as well so dont be intimidated! They offer parking in the back of the store.

I have shopped here many years. Their food is delicious, well made. Today I am writing because they have one staff member who thinks she still lives in Russia and can be insulting. The younger staff are very cordial and helpful. Today, as a very nice Russian customer was giving me some nice suggestions. The lady behind the counter, she is older, blonde somewhat solid, became irate, that this nice man was helping me with some choices. Yesterday, she insulted my adopted russian born daughter because she didnt know Russian. However, the food is well made and well priced. I like going there, but was quite concerned that a staff person could be so insensitive . This is not true for any others I have met during my years there.
