I couldnt buy everything I bought non gmo. Because every thing in the store isnt non gmo. I needed some things at Star Market I had to buy them because I needed them;. And they wasnt non gmo.
Im used to bigger grocery stores in more rural areas, so the selection isnt as big as Im used to, but theres enough variety that I didnt feel limited in my options. Overall a great, clean store!
As a student this market is great for frozen and processed foods. However, their fresh items(produce, seafood and meats) are poor. I have mistakenly purchased rotten prepackaged tomatoes and garlic here twice. More recently, I tried to buy mussels at this location only to realize the harvest/processing date were 10 days past. If you are looking for basic packaged goods, they have them at decent prices. If you want raw items or produce, I recommend walking the few extra blocks to Whole Foods. The staff are usually helpful which is somewhat redeeming.
I just moved to the area and it was my first time in the store. It was clean, offered a great selection, had reasonable prices, and literally every single employee I passed was friendly and quick to offer assistance. The guy at the deli was efficient and answered all of my questions in a friendly manner. The guy in the milk aisle was friendly and welcomed me when I told him I had never been to a Star Market before. The woman at the register was an absolute saint as I fumbled through the self checkout process. I’m so glad this is the grocery store walkable to my home.
Lets face it Star Market is expensive. You shop there for the stuff thats on sale and then you leave. But to be fair, Star Market does have a moderately good app that allows you to select the stuff thats on sale and groceries that are specially priced for Star members.
Self-checkout was a little too persnickety for my taste; the extraordinarily sensitive scale kept admonishing me to give it my items. I couldn’t use my Star Pay option there (why?!?). Seems counterproductive. Otherwise…not terrible. But not the experience to which I’ve grown accustomed at Star Market. Do better folks.
Great supermarket with a large selections of fruits, vegetables and other products. I love their new grocery pickup service. You order online and pick up in the parking lot. You can even use their coupons and save money doing this. I use it at least once a month!
Nice and clean. Not much parking
This is a standard Star Market, though it is also a bit smaller than some of its counterparts. We found most of what we might require when shopping here. However, I’m rarely impressed by the high prices at Star Markets in general. If you want the same food at a better price and are willing to travel, go to Market Basket. For better food, I prefer Trader Joe’s, which has better food and better prices.
Great Variety - Great Chicken Wings !!
Fine selection. The people scare me .
Very small store without a wide variety of items. But, the store is clean and the employees are very nice and friendly. They do everything they can to assist you. It is a nice place to shop.
Always fresh produce! I like the fresh meat section too.
This supermarket is not far from my apartment. There is always fresh meat, excellent beautiful pieces. Overall a great place to shop.
Pretty small by Star Market standards, but no complaints.
Manager super rude wouldnt even speak to me never experienced anything like it such a jerk. Well he claimed to be the manager although I cant see how that could be possible
A cosy and well stocked supermarket in the upscale neighborhood of Brookline.Prices are reasonable for the convenient location. There is a large fresh fruit and vegetable area upon entering the store, the deli, meat and seafood counters to the back of the store have a good variety. They even stock live lobsters in a tank.Photos show aisle staples of bread, jam and a delicious bone-in ribeye.
Only hot girls come to star market 😏
Get ready to bag your own stuff if you can find it in stock. To small, isles to narrow for the stock people to work and for shoppers. Cashiers seem to have an issue bagging groceries so while your trying to pay and get your wallet put away you stuff is sitting on the belt and they started ringing up the person behind you. But only in Brookline!!
Fairly good selection of your standard grocery store. Plenty of parking around.
Not the biggest or the greatest but reliable
The best grocery store hands down. Trader Joes always has 50 people waiting outside because of coronavirus and its worse food.
Most expensive groceries near me
Food lion essentially. Everything live in the deli was dead. Poor mollusks tried escaping!!
Well stocked, good layout and Covid processes.
Found this place by accident. Small but quaint! Store was super clean & shelves stocked. Social distancing & one way isles clearly marked & all shoppers compliant. Great spot to stop & pick up a few things! Will definitely shop there again. ☺
Great place to shop and their on line service is also great!
Great. Groceries. Check out. Leave. Perfect.
Good supermarket
Meh. Its small with not the best selection of certain items. Employees at the register seemed to be bothered by my existence, so theres that.
Overpriced from other star markets and takes advantage of the neighborhood
Some good sales, but not consistently good like Stop & Shop.
Easy to get to on MBTA Green Line, bit limited selection and relatively high prices; feels crowded.
Friendly and quick. Nice atmosphere. Aisles are a little tight. Theres an option to have groceries delivered via Instacart which is nice, but sometimes the substitutions are bad, like getting italian bread crumbs when you wanted panko.
Fairly small grocery store, but a large kosher selection for the size.
Nice clean supermarket. Rather small but has the essentials. Great deals and variety in the meat department but a rather limited and lackluster produce department.
Woman On Register Had Cappy Attitude. If you dont like working there, get another job.
Clean and well stocked.
Star markets dope if you dont want trader joes brand stuff, plus every time I go I get a compliment that I biked there which is pleasant af
Always a good selection and speedy checkout.
Exquisite.
Polite and professional with helping me finish shopping quickly.
I dont typically leave reviews for grocery stores, but I had a great experience with this store accidentally overcharging my credit card, and then refunding me a couple weeks later when I noticed the discrepancy on my statement. Very professional and courteous .
I love shopping at that Star Market always clean and organized
I shop here sometimes because it is convenient but thats about the only reason to go. It is much more expensive than other mid-price grocery stores (like Stop and Shop or Shaws) and the selection is limited.
I looked for assistance in finding the gluten free area. The employee smiled and brought to the aisle & checked for stock on another item. He was courteous & quick. While in line for check out, another cashier told me he was open. I normally go to other stores that have friendly service and have to say this store is catching on.
Its a good store with sufficient choices for a neighborhood store but its significantly smaller than any other star market in the area. You can still find everything you need, but you dont have as many choices as in other ones. Staff is not the friendliest. When youre at the checkout you feel like you owe something to a salesman. No single smile given.
Ive lived across the street for 2 years now and often shop here out of convenience, like at least once a week, yet I can count the number of pleasant interactions Ive had with the staff on one hand. I used to be offended by how bizarrely rude most of the employees are, but now Ive become desensitized to the point where its almost entertaining. You just have to pretend youre starring in an SNL skit about horrible cashiers. For example, today I was helped by a teenager who couldnt manage to put his phone away for the minute my transaction took and barely acknowledged my presence beyond handing the receipt in my general direction. It was honestly almost too on-the-nose to be an actual comedy sketch.
They have good quality products but the employees are rude. One day, a middle-aged man with glasses was not nice to me, the young lady cashier looked at him and was surprised like me. I dont know why...Another day I saw a young lady from the star market, who followed the client and shouted at him, they were not cultural words (shame).Today, I saw an old white lady with blonde hair and glasses shouting at a young man, he was just queuing up one step before the sticker (he wasnt standing perfectly, but he was far from people). She was not very nice. She threatened him the police. I think the police would take care of this lady. She followed him out of the store and I think she was following him. Creepy...
They have everything that we would need. We are lucky to visit the supermarket often and get offers. We find it cheaper to buy here than other local places.
Clean and bright supermarket with a good selection of fresh products despite its smaller size. Only negative is that most of the cashiers are either disinterested or cold. They make it so unpleasant. Would love to shop there more if they were just a little nicer.
This store is not responding well to COVID19. Social distancing is not possible in such a small store, especially since they do not consistently control traffic from coming inside the store. The cashiers are unnecessarily sharp, and look for reasons to express their frustration.
Great location, great selection, just be careful youre not too loud in the parking are or loading dock. Some crazy lady that lives across the street will come out and take pictures/video tape you....
Very convenient location, good produce quality, and good merchandise selection, given the store is not huge. Example: bakery department sells When Pigs Fly - excellent bread.
Good market
Has some decent prices.
This place is gigantic, good service and literally everything you need .
This is my go to store every weekend. This small store gives the star market a more personal feel. Its unique in that it also has a good selection of health foods. The meat department always amazes me with fresh selections at a reasonable price! Good brands of bagged/boxed salad mixes and spinach. Over all the workers are friendly and willing to help.
Over priced skinny store and lacking products. Does not sell Banquet stuff for a buck 45 b/aka stop and Shop. Does not have a lot of other things for less than two bucks. Not selling quarters this year even though other things get touched more often then rolls of quarters. The store needs to be new.like the Chestnut Hill Star is.
Convenient with parking. You could spend hours in the ice cream or the cheese section. Its missing some staples sometimes, but it varies. Some would even call it fun. Will there be more onion species than red? Will I be able to find the chocolate chevre cheese again? Who knows, but I enjoy surprises.
Do not like this place
Absolutely the worst store for social distancing. The employees do nothing to enforce the rules. Store is packed, nobody is following the marked directions on the lanes. Isles are crowded with people going every direction. This star gets a F-, extremely disappointing, go to Western Ave or comm Ave. This store is too small and cramped and should be closed altogether.
Ample selection of grocery items.
While this store is extremely convenient, I am often baffled by the way it is run. On numerous occasions, I have found expired food items on the shelves (namely lettuce, bread, packaged meats, and dairy). It’s wonderful that they have store-made rotisserie chickens, but I don’t understand why they are made at 8am and left sitting under a heat lamp all day. You would think they should be made for the evening rush as everyone stops in before dinner. The produce selection is hit or miss, and the rest of the offerings, while limited due to the store’s size, are pretty good. It’s a shame that the cashiers are often disinterested in their jobs and it is very obvious they don’t want to be working.I go here for the convenience, but definitely prefer going to other stores when time permits.
It is one of the smaller stores. The aisles are narrow and there is a limited selection
Excellent fresh produce and fruits. Prices are within normal limits; checkout went quickly although the store had quite a few customers. Just off Beacon St, parking is limited.Excellent staff.
Really frustrating shopping experience with the help here. The employees who do possess all their mental faculties are babysitting the ones who dont and the energy is completely gone from them because of it. You can see it in their expressions that helping costumers is a smaller fraction of their job than keeping their co-workers in line.It effects every aspect of shopping here and because of that I almost never stop by, but when I do I leave dissatisfied every time.
Great service, great selection for a small market.
Clean and orderly
Amazing fresh fish market. Ask for Michael. Knows fish!!!!
Small grocery store but very clean. Small, narrow passages, but there is everything you need and in quantity.
The layout is confusing and could hardly find anything I came here to find
Convenient, small for a chain store, but they have a great produce section and a great deli. The size is actually kind of nice, as they do a great job of densely merchandising the store. Every time I go, the store looks great. They are short on selection of natural food and fine imported seasonings but great for staples and much less expensive than other markets in the area.
I dont know why but its always so cold in here! But other than that - they have all the basics I come in for, its always clean, and the cashiers are always friendly. Lijah the cashier was especially nice!
Cozy neighborhood market, helpful staff, nice selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, including organic. Convenient, comfortable,.
Very convenient. Good amount of checkout lanes. Selection is okay, but stock changes from week-to-week which helps a bit. Have had some great interactions with staff!!
They have an awful selection and it makes me upset when I smile and say hi how are you?! To the cashiers and they just look at you and say nothing with a straight face. The only nice one is the one that works in the morning who has dark brown hair.
I was waiting for 10 minutes in a checkout line and it wasnt moving. Cashier was idle. I asked why and he said all the computer systems were down. We cant close the store although some people were standing and waiting in line for a whole *1 hour* before you. Then why not tell us the computers were down?
Decent selection for a small grocery store but awful prices make it hard to shop here with any regularity. Youre better off going to Whole Foods or Trader Joes if you dont have a car and cant get to a full-sized supermarket.
Great staff! Super helpful and so friendly! Love this grocery store
Second store to bad. It should be at least a 4 star not as much selections. Classic mushroom soup. Only have it with garlic. Unless you want a bigger ounce and a different brand.
Convenient, has what I need, pleasant experience
Tiny with really limited options of products and a lot of times fresh produces arent restocked.Close too early.
Nice supermarket with lots of things to buy
I would give NO STARS TO THIS PLACE!!!!!!!! Most of the deli crew is out right rude and appalling.
It is convenient to have a grocery store between Washington Square and Cleveland Circle. This store is small and recent changes have made it even more difficult to navigate. This store surprisingly manages to have a decent selection of food considering its size.
This is a great place to shop for groceries and prepared foods. Customer service is very friendly and polite. I would recommend this place to shop.
Good place for shopping
Honestly experienced one of the worst customer service situations towards the mother of a disabled person. The cashier was so disrespectful & she didnt know when to shut her mouth. She kept snapping back at the customer while she had a line of four people embarrassing herself. I kinda wish I recorded it. The affected customer & I spoke to Amy the manager she seemed to be very accommodating. Figured it couldnt hurt to share here too. The rest of the store was very pleasant its a shame she had to end it that way.
Convenient location at less than 500 feet from the closest green line (C branch) stop. Parking out front and on the side as well. Could have a larger selection, but it is a grocery store in a city.
Great clean place to buy fruit and vegetables. Fair prices and great service!
Such friendly and helpful staff! Even the checkout chick was polite and professional to a challenging customer. Its a smallish supermarket, though, and a bit squishy, could be brighter and lighter. Maybe the ceiling is a bit low.
The selection of fresh fruit and veg and meat are good. Overall the selection and cost of groceries are fine and what you would expect of a smaller sized supermarket. Other than the staff in the meat deli the staff appear miserable and unapproachable.
Never buy groceries here but was in a rush and stopped in. The selection was fine for its size, but the service is lackluster. The cashier who rang me up gave off a vibe of misery and handled my food without care. After pricing/weighing the items, she actually threw them to the bagging area. With that said, the girl I was with bagged her groceries herself because she wanted to limit the handling time. We legitimately left the store feeling uncomfortable after checking out.
She was taggin the 5 sectah!!!
