Hamlin and sons is an excellent automotive repair shop. They are really nice people. They take extra care to make sure that you understand the repairs to your car. By their own words you will never get handed a bill with charges that you didnt know about. Everything is up front. I really like them.

Im so happy I took my car here. He fixed a few things and gave me print outs of the codes that came up and did an oil change. My car is running so much better. Mike is honest and professional. 5 STARS!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Been going here for emissions the last 8 years. Its usually pretty quick! 3 stars because the older man behind the counter is rude, has never once in the 8 years acknowledged me or ever made eye contact. I wont go to them for anything other then emissions because of him and happy to take my actual business anywhere else!

They said 45 mins but it was done in 20mins there pretty fast on missions

The difference between this place and others is astounding. The dealership where I bought my car a few years ago does free oil changes through the service department, but they give me the run-around and dont have my interests at heart with any other service issues either. So much that I actually chose to forgo my free dealership oil change recently and paid for it at Hamelin & Sons instead. And I would do it again. Ive also had my emissions test and gotten my brakes done here. When I returned with a new transmission issue, they took the time to helpfully explain it and what my next steps should be since they dont do the particular work I need. It was clear that they were acting with customer interests in mind and not trying to make a quick buck off me. For these reasons, I will be a customer for life. Why is it so hard for other places to have this business concept/model? Be more like Hamelin & Sons!

The best place in Bristol to go for emissions testing.

There are only a limited amount of places to go which do emission testing. Ive been using Hamelin for years and never faced any issues. With little wait time Ive been able to bring my cars down without any appointment and have the test done without any hassle. Given its a little shop, I wouldnt expect the waiting area to be very fancy but they do give a sitting area with TV, wifi and coffee.

Disappointed that after my emissions test, they left my car running, drivers side window down and car forward facing the road.....anyone could have driven off with my car. Very irresponsible and careless.

Fast emissions

Called up asked if I could get an oil change same day. Gentalman asked if I could drop car off, I said not a not a problem. They had my car done with 2 hours and done at a reasonable price.

Great for emissions testing. Usually super fast unless theres a lot of people ahead of you, understandably takes longer. I suggest calling ahead for wait time.

Getting rear brakes and rotors and an oil change done very informative so far and better prices compared to where i checked before. Took me in last minute and worked with me while i figured out if i was going to have it done or not. So far no problems and seems like a very good local shop to support.

Amazing customer service! My husband and I had a few complications and they still managed to help us. They got the job done quick and done well. We will definitely refer our friends and family here. Mike, the gentleman who explained everything and helped us with our car was knowledgeable and sincere but most of all, i left feeling confident in the work that was done.

This is an honest place that isnt trying to take advantage. It was my second visit for an oil change. They noticed that I had a bad tire which was more dangerous than what I already knew. They called me and were happy to go in my trunk to put my spare on.They did not entice me in any way to come back to them for tire service. Those are the things that make you come back anyway.

Good fast service for emissions.Car repair is way overpriced. They did work on my Moms car and quoted a price of $875, picked up the car and the bill was $1366.No calls to see if she was OK with the higher bill. Just the shock of getting it when picking up the car.

Went to get Emissions done, was quick and painless will go here for now on.

I was given an estimate for the work they did and when I arrived to pay for the bill and pick up my car, I found it to be $200.00 more than I was told over the phone just a few minutes earlier. They charged me for an alignment but, it was just as bad as it was when I brought it in. There was a manufacturers warranty on the part I had installed but, it wasnt written in on the bill. I wanted to have a new water pump installed just to update it for a long trip but, they refused, saying the old one was fine.In a failed attempt to cover up their lousy work, they added that the reason they could not give my car a front end alignment was because my suspension had collapsed. That is odd since I had brand new struts and mounts installed in the front and new mounts, springs and shocks installed in the rear. Another lie.He indicated that I was pleased when I picked up the car. The ONLY reason I was happy was because the A/C was working.Another issue was the oil change. A little over a month after bringing my car there, I was getting air shocks installed at Kulmanns in Wolcot, CT. When they brought my car around from their customer parking lot, I noticed a secondary ticking and one which was familiar to me. I checked the oil and it was bone dry. HOW could I have gone through 4 quarts of oil in a little over a month and then one quart of oil every 6 months after that?The reason I went to this service station was because I have never heard anything bad about them. My mother has lived in this town since 1943 but, we have family members who have lived here going back to the 1700s. She was also shocked.Needless to write, I wont be going back.
