Disastrous visit today but necessary with the South Boulder store closed. The frustrating visit took double the expected time for multiple reasons. Sale items as well as staples were out of stock, product locations were mislabeled, and despite the store having loads of shoppers only two checkers were available. The self-checkout kiosk often could not read the bar codes on the first scan attempts and locked up frequently. At one point four of the positions out of the six adjacent were locked for no apparent reason with all showing the message, “Help is on the way”, but the assigned clerk was not in sight. When she appeared she was kind of rude likely as a result of being clearly overloaded. And to top it off, the kiosk had repeated problems reading the chip on our perfectly good credit card. No matter the excuses, shopping at this store was a most unpleasant experience all around.

Wow. TERRIBLE customer service by one of the self-checkout cashiers! I don’t know who provided him management training, but he really needs to learn his own store policies when it comes to using coupons. I had four coupons I was planning to use, but he told me I could not use them on sale items. For example, he said that I could not use coupons for a buy 5 save 5 event. There isn’t anywhere in the coupon policy that states that (and in fact King Soopers offers dozens of digital coupons to customers that they can load to their customer loyalty card and use along with any sale events). I tried to show the cashier his own store policy, but he did not seem to understand that his store fully allows their use or the fact that King Soopers is reimbursed for the coupons (plus 8 cents) by the product company. He refused to let me use my coupons, stating that I would be “saving too much money” 🤔. I have never, in my 15 years of being a loyal Kroger and affiliate customer, experienced issues with using coupons in the store. Despite my discussion of coupon policy for his own store, the cashier refused to let me use my 4 coupons. I ended up leaving this location and driving to a different King Soopers where the cashier scanned my coupons perfectly. They were kind, welcoming, and knew their coupon policies. I am no longer shopping at this location due to this experience, which is unfortunate since this King Soopers is where my family and I completed 95% of our shopping. Roughly $200-$300 of our grocery bill per month was spent at this location— $2,400-$3,600 of groceries per year. Sorry, but being able to use coupons is a form of positive financial management and King Soopers just lost my business due to this error by their employee. I am going to purchase from stores who value my business and appreciate my patronage. Target, Walmart, Whole Foods, Sprouts, etc. will be seeing much more of me in the months to come.

I’m giving 3 stars because this store was well stocked. However, the cashier that helped me today (Laura) was rude. I was told she couldn’t touch my reusable bags in a very gruff tone. I’m very understanding and more than willing to bag my own groceries but words matter and tone is everything. She seems like she hates her job. Also, as I was bagging my groceries the next custom behind me came right up next to me violating the social distancing policies that are supposed to be enforced by the staff.

Hey King Soopers: for a while, you were absolutely crushing it in the online ordering department. But that changed. I just picked up my order today and it was a complete disaster: expired products, damaged produce and missing items. And you overcharged me for half a dozen items. After 40 minutes on the phone with customer service, and three phone calls with in-store managers, a summary of the response I got is gosh, gee, sorry, dont know, nothing we can do. No special cuts like tomahawk. I wish I went to Safeway instead. The people there are always happy to help and have super seafood and meat selections. $15 for two scrawny discolored crab clusters and Im so disappointed on top of feeling like theres something wrong with me for asking if they had other cuts. I should get my money back for these. I spend about $300-$500 a week at kroger stores and more than double for holidays. I’ve been shopping at this store for more than 20 years and have been very happy with it. However, since it was remodeled and revamped in an effort to compete w/online competitors, it’s become a waste of time to shop there. They’ve discontinued many items and are often out of basics (organic milk, for instance twice in 1 month!). Or they simply don’t carry common items for which I have a coupon. The staff is great (hence 2 stars instead of 1), but I’m not going to shop at this store anymore.

And of course, you cant maintain a safe distance that way. The self check outs are too close together and are not even 3 feet part. I feel at risk going shopping there so I no longer go there. Disappointed by the number of grocery store workers I encountered today wearing masks ineffectively — as chin covers, over just their mouth (not their nose), and even no mask at all. The cashier that rang me up was wearing gloves, blew/wiped his nose with a tissue, then touched all of my groceries with germy gloves. So frustrating. The store has signs requiring customers to wear masks, which is great! But management needs to enforce proper mask wearing for its employees for the safety of its workers and customers. And teach people how to use gloves properly if they do use them.

So I went in the store and found every single item that was “out of stock” apparently they just didn’t feel like looking? The second time I get there to pick up and when I called they told me my order was canceled because of “lack of staff”. I was never notified and while I understand they need people to work to fulfill orders, I would have come back later if necessary. They said they cancelled all orders after 2pm but there were about 10 people in the lot with me standing waiting for there orders at 4pm. We are a extremely at risk household so going into the store isn’t really an option at this point.... just extremely disappointing.Store has honestly gone down hill since the renovations. I had never had an issue with this store but I placed an online order with the Boulder CO location and paid a delivery charge only to have several items missing from my prepaid order after I unloaded the grocery bags the kid dropped off . Seems like a scam - the delivery option. I was home not feeling well that day and delivery sounded convienent - first and last time I do that. Waste of additional money - I didnt bother complaining at the time - I needed the items I ordered and if a store cannot provide what you paid for and what is advertised just shop elsewhere. Pretty simple really. I had high hopes but they were dashed for the delivery option. I would think common sense would be to have the delivery kids double check orders to make sure everything someone bought and paid for is included in the delivery of groceries. Otherwise shop elsewhere where people are more detail oriented.

The people who worked there seemed nice but they watched the whole thing happen, let the lady walk away and all they had to help with at the end was ask me if I still wanted to buy the stuff. The answer was a obvious no.I come here a lot, the service is usually pretty good, for that reason can’t bring myself to write a 1 star review. But it doesn’t make sense for people to shop somewhere where security allows someone to walk around belligerently and then be given a free pass after being agressive with and threatening other customers. This one off incident would be a difficult one for any store to deal with, but it is symptomatic of a larger problem with the tolerance of a number of homeless people right in front of the store at all times of day. With so many other good stores in the area, I probably won’t be back very soon after this experience, and with the crowd that hangs out around there, i wouldn’t recommend others do it either.

This has been my neighborhood King Soopers. Have been going here for decades. Seems the latest renovation was an attempt to be more like Whole Foods. Lots of room was made for beer, lots of room was made for alternative type foods. I havent seen anyone buying beer. Aisles are more narrow. This store didnt increase in size yet they managed to make the store feel crammed with too much stuff. Whats up with magazines and cards?? No place to put them now, cards are over by the vitamins and you dont see the magazines until you are leaving the store. Basic foods, like cereal, have had their shelve space reduced. You can only find one size of most cereals, like Kellogg Corn Flakes in the super large box. Never a sale on the super large boxes either. Or what Ive found lately is that there isnt any stock of the CF at all. The location of foods is hit or miss and most make no sense. I often hear people complaining that they cant find something that should be with another type of food. Try to find Bobo bars ... you will have to look at three or four locations to find different types of those bars, they are stashed everywhere! Some up front by the courtesy desk, some in the breakfast aisle and some in the aisle with nuts. And the new check out process isnt the best. We like to watch the items being scanned because we usually notice a mistake. Like the Bobo bars that were on sale for $1.50 each. Instead of scanning each of the 12 bars in the box (total $18.00), the clerk scanned the box ($29.00). We checked our receipt in the car before we left and noticed the mistake and went back in for an $11.00 credit. We would have caught that if we hadnt been so busy putting our items on the conveyor belt. We are now doing our King Soopers shopping at the Table Mesa store where the clerk takes the items out of our cart and we can watch our items being scanned. Plus their store doesnt seem to be so crammed full of stuff, their aisles are wider and the items are shelved in a way that makes sense. Weve always enjoyed going to Safeway, and have been going to their store more often too.

While King Soopers itself provides a wonderful store, with good selection and fair prices theyve recently gone through some policy changes that are making me rethink using them as a go to grocery store.Im speaking of the move to start charging $0.10 for each plastic bag you need when you checkout. Now Im a green, Boulder individual and I do have my own grocery bags but nowhere near the amount required by my bi-monthly grocery trip. This has resulted in a tax of several dollars during checkout that I find to be unreasonable and dishonest to loyal customers in this region, especially the largely college demographic in the south-central Boulder area.King Soopers can forget having me as a customer until they reevaluate this policy after all if Im using a Sooper card to save a little extra dough why the hell are they taking it back in such a thoughtless and shocking manner.
