The gentlemen here were very professional when asking for a general tune up on my car before leaving on a cross country trip. They did an all around inspection of the motor, tires and fluids before letting me know that I had some other major issues that needed to be addressed that I was unaware of. It was a genuine concern of theirs that I make it safely across the country on my trip without breaking down. After agreeing to fix some other major components the job actually came under budget which was a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend this establishment and would return to have work done in the future. They definitely went the extra mile to ensure that I would have a safe trip and made sure to havey car done within one day as promised.

I had a difficult issue with a lemon of a used car purchased for my daughter and Jason was incredibly patient in helping me understand the repairs needed and analyzing whether it was worth it or not. Later, after I ended up deciding to get a different vehicle, he help analyze the choices and ultimately I used Independent Motors to replace tires and care for both my and my daughters vehicles. I do not have knowledge of vehicles - so I need to have someone I trust. I trust Jason, Greg and the other staff. Just today, after getting oil changes in both cars, I left the lot and my turn signal wasnt working. They got me right back in, replaced several bulbs that were out (requiring putting it on the jack) and only charged the bulb cost. I feel respected when I have my car serviced (even though I know nothing about cars). I have to say - I was embarrassed about how often I called Jason when I was struggling with the lemon-used-car issue, but he never made me feel bad for asking questions and gave me well reasoned answers. Highly recommended.

Hands down the best experience I had in working with a Shop. They were able to narrow down the issue with my truck and not give me the run around like other Shops/Dealerships. They did not try to sell me on anything and only informed me of what actually needed to be done to get optimal performance out of my truck. I just had my 150K mile service on my 2003 Lexus RX300. They have serviced my car since I purchased it new in 2003. I couldnt be more pleased. They also had to replace my power steering pump (discovered issue during service). We had to wait a few more days for the part. In the meantime, they gave me a loaner. Over the years I have had nothing but exceptional service. I dont know the first thing about cars. Jason (at the front desk) has always been able to help me understand whats up. I can then make an informed decision as to timing and cost of any needed repairs. I also buy my tires there and get free rotation and balancing when needed. I took my 2010 Lexus in to have some needed suspension work done. No work ever done on the suspension, so … I have to say I am really happy with the work, but more than that the customer service was exceptional. I dealt with Greg and he was super friendly and treated me with respect and patience and made me feel like I was a highly valued long-time customer, rather than the first timer I was. Today I returned because I had some tire questions that I was hoping to get answered before a long road trip in the car. Luis helped me and was as helpful and gracious as Greg was and helped me to feel great about the trip to come. Independent Motors/ Boulder Tire just earned anew loyal customer. Thank again guys.

I had to replace my license plate and the rear screws were corroded to the point where I could not remove them. Stopped by while running errands and they came out, removed and replaced them on the spot. This kind of personal service is woefully absent in many businesses and much appreciated.I also use Independent Motors to service my 4-Runner and take care of its tires. Service is uniformly fantastic and very reasonably priced.Today I had an unexpected issue with not one but two tires with a nail. The people at Independent got me in quickly and repaired both in under 1 hour. They will remain the most trusted and friendly service company I have ever known.

Got new tires at their tire company, Boulder Tire. Talked to Greg about a problem thats been developing with my exhaust system. Had my Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit checked out. A week later, their Jeep tech had both manifolds serviced, one gasket and manifold replaced, engine re-torqued, and they even re-attached my wheel liner for me in half the time I expected it to take. Happy customer, and feel comfortable bringing my Jeep back in the future.Cheers!

My mechanic went out of business in the pandemic. I went here after a recommendation and all the great reviews. Getting a new car repair place is always a bit stressful. Everyone has been great. Prices were very fair and they truly want to make their customers happy. There was a hiccup and they took care of it as soon as possible while I waited. If you are looking for a new place just stop looking around and come here. I dont think you will be sorry.

I have used Independent motors for several years for servicing my Toyota Tundra. Unfortunately, this time the manager tried to rip me off for an additional service after doing all of the services listed above. He quoted me $600 for a routine transmission flush and drain, etc. This service normally costs $250-300 which I knew. He continued to press me on this because he used superiors oils and tried hard to convince me this was a legitimate quote. I refused and will not use Independent Motors again because I can’t trust them to not try to rip me off. I may be an older woman, but I am not stupid!

My friend just arrived in Tucson after having her car serviced here. The mechanic use permeatex paste for a gasket. on the transmission pan. Luckily it didnt blow out the fluid until she arrived. I removed the pan and found no gasket on the pan. It cost her $100 more to get the gasket (had to buy a filter too) and refill the fluid. Avoid this place.

Three warning lights came on this morning and I was panicking, because I’m moving to Ohio this weekend. Called independent motors and talked to Jason and he said I could bring it right by. He checked the codes and looked at the engine and found I have knocked off a hose when I put in a new air filter, put the hose back on and cleared the codes all in less than 5 minutes. I asked him how much it was, and I was ready to pay anything, but he said it was just a courtesy, free. Just wonderful service, couldn’t thank him enough.

I really appreciate the honesty of the guys there. I brought my truck in to have brakes replaced. They checked it out and told me the brakes are okay they checked a maintenance light (turned it off) and checked my brake fluid too. They didnt charge me a dime! Refreshing honesty and they dont push a bunch of additional work on you like the dealerships always try to do. I will always recommend this place when asked about good automotive repair places.

Nothing but excellent, professional work from the gentlemen at this shop. When I initially showed up and spoke with Jason at the front desk, he didnt hesitate to direct me straight to Patton, whom ended up doing the build on my 95 tacoma. After several conversations with Patton I gave the go ahead to do the full Toytec Boss kit with Nitto trail grapplers sitting on some American Racing Wheels. I have absolutely zero complaints with any part of my experience at Independent Motors and would absolutely recommend them for your next project!

Independent Motors is AWESOME. Ive been bouncing around different local shops for our familys vehicles, but after a few months with Independent, were settled. They have saved us so much money with good, honest, mechanics. They found workarounds on two of our vehicles that saved us in total about $1K. Its refreshing to have confidence in our mechanic. These guys are the real thing.

I recently went to Independent Motors for a possible engine coolant flush. When I arrived the staff was friendly and assured me that they would check out the problem and call me before doing any work. I promptly received a phone call from Sean where I was informed that this was a bigger problem than it appeared. They discovered the intake manifold valve was leaking oil in the coolant. Sean explained the situation to me and my options. He was very patient answering my questions and honestly told me his opinion on whether this repair was worth it because of the age of my car (I have a 1999 Buick Century). I felt like I fully understood the problem after it was clearly explained to me. I chose not to go for the big repair and I felt respected for my decision and never once did I feel pressure from anyone to do the repair, or any unnecessary work. With that being said, every interaction with staff from Independent Motors was a positive one. From the initial phone call to make the appointment, to the drop off of my vehicle, to the friendly shuttle service provided by Bill (the owner), I felt taken care of and in good hands. I highly recommend Independent Motors for their honest, reliable, friendly, and sincere staff and work ethic. I wont be taking my car anywhere else. I am so grateful to have found such a great repair shop.

I am so glad to have taken my car to Independent Motors. After an awful experience with a mechanic at a used car dealership, a lot under the hood was damaged. Brian worked on my car and I did all of my correspondence with Jason and both did just a wonderful job in addition to everyone else I met being so friendly. All of the issues were taken care of for a reasonable price and my car runs beautifully now. I will definitely be a returning customer should I ever need it.

This is the best auto repair places Ive ever been to. They are honest, fast, efficient, and reasonably priced. I am never concerned about whether or not they will tell me the truth or overcharge me for anything! Especially as a woman, Ive been ripped off numerous times at auto repair places and Independent Motors is great. They also have a shuttle service where this very nice young man will take you back where you need to go and pick you up. Overall an excellent experience and I highly recommend them.

Normally a good shop - they do a decent job even if its a bit expensive. Would always recommend a morning drop off as they seem to have trouble managing their workloads efficiently. They have convenient loaner cars which make drop-off easy. But, dont get tires here. They are not set up to deliver good tire service like a dedicated tire shop. I came in for an 11AM appointment for a simple tire swap and didnt get out until 1PM because they were short a tire guy.

My total experience was marvelous. The staff were all courteous, friendly and very knowledgeable. I had a lot of work done and it was all done well. My 1992 Accord drives much smoother after its 30K service, new timing belt, and rebuilt power steering pump. Their advice and explanations were easy to understand. I am glad I went there. Ive never had a better experience at an auto repair shop than I had at Independent Motors. The people who work here are incredibly honest, kind, caring, and efficient. When the mechanics assessed my jeep, I received honest and detailed feedback and recommendations along the way. The staff is incredibly competent and willing to share their knowledge with the customers in a way that is accessible. As a result, I felt like I had a good understanding of the issues with my jeep throughout the time it was there. I worked with Greg, who was so patient with all of my many questions and concerns; I can tell that his top priority is doing what is best for his customers. When I ultimately decided to trade in my jeep instead of repairing the gazillion issues it had, Greg and the staff were so kind as to provide very helpful and much needed jeep-buying advice. My father bought a brand new Toyota 4 runner in 99. The 4 runner lasted my family until 2016. A good 17 year run. Which only lasted as long as it did because of the excellent, quality care that Sean at independent motors gave to us. We were always told exactly what was wrong, and everything was explained to us in detail. (my father and I arent very technical) Sean took the time to make sure we understood exactly what the repair was going to entail and include and made sure to give us a fair and reasonable price every time! When the beloved family car, passed from father to son, was time to be retired we were given an incredibly good explanation of why the car wasnt worth fixing anymore. Not only did they fix my car quickly, they were honest and upfront during the entire process, something I appreciate.My car is running better than it ever has and Ive even brought in my Ford F150 to have some work done to it. Id been taking the Ford to a dealership in Lakewood for the past two years and not once did they tell me about a PCM update that was available. Plus, I was tired of being asked if I wanted to trade it in every time I brought it in for an oil change or recall repair. Needless to say, I got the update and the truck has been running great ever since.Ive been happy with everything from service to prices and continue to bring in my vehicles for oil changes, check ups, and tires. I rarely write reviews, but this one is a must. I took my Beetle to Independent Motors for a look, hoping they’d find the reason for this clunk noise I was hearing when I turned left. They looked at it and - get this - found nothing wrong. On top of not charging me for a BS fix, they actually charged me less than they had told me the diagnostic would cost. THAT is honesty. And best of all, whatever it was they did, it fixed the noise. Who knows, it could have been just loose wheel screws... Highly, highly recommend those super friendly folks!

My go-to place in Boulder for car maintenance. Much of the maintenance or repairs they do will be cheaper (and of higher quality) than big chain places (jiffy lube, grease monkey, discount tire, etc). In addition, Jason was always extremely helpful giving advice on specific maintenance regarding my driving habits.In addition, they have a 12 month/12,000 mile parts and labor warranty - great for re-assurance.

Independent Motors is great! They have consistently provided quick and friendly service for problems of any scope, whether it was installing a new fuel pump, getting an oil change, or simply replacing a headlight bulb in a jiffy. The cost of replacing my fuel pump was even approximately $300 less expensive than at a different auto shop. They are always friendly and respectful of my time while still always ensuring that I get the answers I need to any questions that may arise regarding the care and maintenance of my car. Id recommend them every time!

I was looking for a small job for them to complete. I needed a tiny part which needed to be ordered. The parts guy said I would need to order the part. The whole point of me coming to you for a repair is your parts guy orders the part, then one of your techs installs said part. I got the parts a day later and put them in myself.. I was looking for a good shop to do work on the 3 cars/trucks I own and this wont be the shop.

I have been going to Independent since 1995. Two things I really like about it: integrity and team cohesion. On the integrity issue, this guys have earned my trust and they work hard to keep it. I leased a Corolla and took it to Grease Monkey. One of the monkeys didnt secure the oil filter, and it fell off while I was driving. I drove 10 more miles to Independent. Bill, who I think is the owner, thought I need some expensive service/repair related to driving a car that far without oil. He asked his chief mechanic at the time who checked out the condition of the cylinders. He said no expensive repair needed, and Bill went with his opinion! The guys who work there seem to be happy. Its fun to hang out chat while waiting for service to be completed. Their prices are comparable to the Toyota dealer in Boulder, but I prefer the service I get @ Independent ... and their location at the foot of Pearl is primo.

Its been my experience for the last two decades that Independent Motors is skilled, fair, and more than likely to go above and beyond. NEVER EVER has work been done that wasnt discussed or agreed to, and NEVER EVER have I been encouraged to do work that wasnt necessary...quite the contrary. They were recommended to me when I moved to Boulder many years ago by someone who was also extremely pleased with the quality of their service, and I recommend them to others.

Outstanding service. My 2010 Honda CRV AC compressor bearing failure was diagnosed and fixed without a prior appointment because I was in Boulder only a short time. Technician took a road ride with me right away, made the diagnosis, replaced the compressor and receiver and filed a successful claim against my extended service plan with no fuss at all. Truly exceptional service and much appreciated, highly recommended without reservation.

This is the second time in a year my son, who moved to Boulder, had some repair work done at Independent. These guys are awesome. Kevin and Sean are both excellent. I started taking my older Toyota truck to Independent Motors on the advice of a friend’s dad back in 2001. I was always pleased with the work they did, and especially that I could feel like Bill would stand by the work.Later I inherited a Camry and needed some work done on it that was under warranty, so I took it to a dealer. Often the work was not done per the discussions I would have with “the guy that doesn’t want you talking to the mechanic,” or “service manager.” That kind of workmanship has never happened since I returned to Independent Motors.One day I was lucky enough to get a courtesy ride with Bill and I didn’t know he was the owner. We laughed about strange ways to repair air-cooled VWs and then he asked why my car was in the shop. I was getting an oil change and having a belt checked. He said you don’t need a belt until x number of miles, get a tune up, and he was right.In fact, Independent Motors has been there during emergencies, too. I hit a huge chunk of storm drain in the middle of the road last year, and ruined two wheels and two tires. I had the car towed there, and they called me before I could call them, and repaired the wheels, etc. as quickly as possible, and found affordable options as well as newer options— maybe took three days. They have affordable courtesy rental cars, too!I buy my tires there and they rotate them and check your air for free. Well, today I realized I had a screw in my tire and was a bit late on a rotation, and these guys got me in last minute on a busy day and took care of me. I was in need of a battery for my 1997 Toyota Camry. Based on a recommendation from a friend I called Boulder Import Motors and they had a battery in stock for my car. I scheduled a time to have the work done and when I arrived my car was immediately pulled into the service bay. The old battery was tested and replaced with a new Interstate battery, which was also tested for proper function. I received great service for a fair price and was on my way in 30 minutes. I know others that have done business with Boulder Import Motors and they swear by them, and now I do too. Thanks again for the great service experience!

Ive been taking my subaru legacy to another shop for a while now. But when it started running rough and my current shop couldnt get me in a friend recommended Independent Motors. I called them up and told Sean what was going on. Right up front Sean told me how much it would be to diagnose and that he would needed me to leave the car with him. When I told them that I need my car to pick up my kid Sean kindly offered a loaner car at no cost.I got a call that afternoon from Sean telling me that my spark plugs were worn out. He informed me that it looked like I missed a service. He also told me that since they figured out what was going on rather quickly that he was going to reduce the initial diagnostic charge as well as get my car back that day!I was even further surprised to find out my bill was less than quoted when I came to pick up the car. Now my legacy is up to date and running great. Its good to know there are still honest and dependable shops out there. I thanked my friend for the referral. Shes been a customer of theirs for 15 years now and wont go anywhere else. Now I feel the same way!

I had my Mitsubishi Montero worked on here. Father / son team with integrity and skill. They wont do unnecessary work or work before it is needed and will tell you so. Always was happy with the quality, pricing, and time to complete. Referred my friends in the past too.

Every employee I spoke to was nice and seemed thoroughly happy to be there. My car is my baby, and they treated it exactly how I would. I cant recommend them enough!

These guys are great! I had a laundry list of high-priced fixes that the Hyundai dealer in town had given me to do on my car that totaled about $1200. The team at Boulder Import Motors went through the list, addressed which fixes were actually necessary and my final bill was $280 (!). They are honest, help you save your precious pennies (I am a teacher) and the service was prompt. I highly recommend this business and have been going to them for the past 5 years.

I came to Independent Motors after having received, from a local dealer, a stupidly long list of things allegedly wrong with my car that totaled more than $3,000 dollars of work. I maintain my vehicles religiously, so I was sure the dealer was dishonest. Independent Motors examined my car and determined that all I needed was a little more than $300 of work. I took auto shop in school and worked on my own cars when I was a kid, so I knew what the dealer and Independent Motors were talking about. Thats when I began trusting in Independent and have never regretted it. Never has Independent ever been dishonest, neglectful, or unethical in their treatment of my cars or in handling me as a person. They do honest, excellent work at a very good price. I rely on them to keep me informed on what routine service is needed in the next service period, and they also let me know if there are other problems that will need attention in the future. I have entrusted them with keeping my vehicles serviced and safe, and consequently also have entrusted them with the lives of my family. I have been a super loyal customer for 8 years and I will be forever. Never have had anything but super service and advice. These guys are the most honest and capable auto shops I have ever worked with. They are friendly, honest, and super experts. I let nobody else touches my 13 year old Trooper, they have saved me thousands of dollars over the years, and it runs like a Swiss watch. Thanks to Bill and his super staff! I love you guys!Two weeks later on 11/24/2015 - Bill just saved me a bundle on snow tires! I called him to buy snow tires for my brand new Mercedes SLK 350. He checked the tires it came with and informed me that I wont need any for this winter, specially that Ill never drive this car on snowy days. I know nothing about cars, he knows it and has watched my back since 2008.

I brought my truck in here after suffering some rodent damage and it turned out to be the best experience with a mechanic I have ever had. The truck was in very bad shape, it would not even turn on. They did an estimate on the vehicle and gave me the options I had in a very clear way free of charge. When I decided to pay to fix it, against their advice, they worked quickly and gave me details at every step about what has happening. At the end they put in many used parts at only the cost of the parts, no labor. When I went to pick up my truck it was running better than when I bought it. These guys were so spot on with communicating and helping out the customer. The price at the end was not much considering what they had done to fix the truck. Last year I brought my truck into a specialist for similar problems and was extremely disappointed at the spotty workmanship and lack of communication. Suffice to say this place is the best option in Boulder both on a personal and financial level. Highly recommended!!!!

A few weeks ago, my 2004 Toyota Tundra had a misfire and ran very poorly. Originally I took it to Midas, and they were very helpful, but they recommended that I take it to a dealership because they couldnt get into the trucks computer to find the cause of the misfire. When I took it to the dealership (Larry H. Miller Toyota), they gave me a long list of necessary repairs.These repairs totaled to around $5,200, approximately the value of the truck. I figured I should get a second opinion before either selling the truck or spending as much as it is worth to fix it, so I took it to Independent Motors. Independent Motors has the full Toyota factory setup, so they have all the capabilities that the dealership has. After the diagnostic, they were able to fix the misfire for $480, a fraction of the invoice from the dealership. Furthermore, the problem they identified (bad spark plugs and wires) was never found by the dealership, so that $5200 would not have fixed the misfire. I asked that they run a full inspection to see if they find the same necessary repairs that the dealership found. They recommended replacing the front brake pads and a gasket, but found no real issue with the most of the parts that the dealership said were broken. Independent Motors was extremely helpful and friendly, and they saved my beloved vehicle along with thousands of dollars that I (a full-time student) cannot afford to spend.

Great technical service and friendly customer service! Have been servicing my Toyota with them for many years. Just a couple days ago my engine light light up and, naturally, I wanted to get my car in to get checked up ASAP. The mechanic who helped me, Sean, was terrific. He made an exception to allow me to come in later than usual to make sure everything was taken care of. I noticed he really went out of his way to help out. I get the impression they are very fair and trustworthy.

The level of care, commitment and dedication from these guys is amazing!! Reasonable prices, prompt response, high attention to detail. I strongly recommend them!!

Independent Motors is the best option in Boulder for Subaru maintenance. They are friendly, honest, diligent, skilled, and thorough. We live in the mountains near Boulder, and we need our 2010 Outback to be safe and run well. Independent makes sure were covered on both of those bases. They have never used upselling or surprise charges; and always consult with us before doing any maintenance or ordering parts. We wouldnt take our Subaru to anybody else in Boulder.

Ive only had a handful of experiences here, but they have all been very positive. The employees I have interacted with all seemed to be hard-working, knowledgeable and honest - a very good combination. They have helped me work within my budget, prioritizing repairs on my aging import. The communication from the staff at the desk is top notch and quality of the mechanical work appears to be at the same level.I should note that Independent Motors also provided a recommendation to take my wifes Toyota to Boulder Muffler where we received top notch work at a very fair price. This was greatly appreciated as Independent Motors could have simply recommended we replace an expensive part and instead Boulder Muffler was able to fix the existing part at a fraction of the cost. Honesty and integrity in spades.

These guys are great. Ive been taking my 15 year old Toyota 4runner to them for as long as Ive owned it. Theyve worked with me on all things big and small. Theyve always been very honest and upfront about what my truck needs now and what to expect in the future. Most recently, I had some repairs done that were slightly out of warranty and they ended up covering the work as if it were still under warranty. Ive also always been able to use their loaner cars whenever I needed one. I would highly recommend their work and customer service.

Independent Motors rescued me from the other locally owned Subaru mechanics in Boulder. They always did excellent work and treated me with respect when I brought in my 99 Subaru Legacy Outback. The best part was when they advised me to move on and sell the car vs. investing in another repair. These guys really know Subarus...

These guys are helpful even when you dont have a lot of money. I came in with a windshield spray line cracked from age in a car from the 80s and they helped me put on a piece of new tubing for free right before closing. That helped me get back up into the mountains safely that night, and I cant express how much that kind of service means to me. Ive heard nothing but good things about these guys and now I know for myself that the shop had real, good people working there who love their work and will do a great job.

Ive brought my vehicles to Independent for almost 20 years and I honestly wouldnt go anywhere else. Theyve served me extremely well, consistently. If something unanticipated presents itself, they always call to discuss. Ive never been pressured to do anything unnecessary, quite the contrary...on a few occasions theyve gone above and beyond. Cant recommend them more highly.

Good staff and good work but wow their labor prices are incredibly high. They also went so far as to call me at work to debate me on this 3 star review...I answered the phone expecting a follow up call to ensure my truck was still running good (which it is) only to have to defend my simple, honest review.

My fiancé and I have been taking our cars here since we moved to Colorado in 2013 and we wont take them anywhere else. Jerry and Drew are the most honest and fair mechanics Ive ever met! Every mechanic claims the work will be done quickly, but these guys actually live up to that. Best in Boulder County!

I know nothing about cars, so I’m always nervous about finding a new auto company that might try to overcharge me. Independent Motors is a breath of fresh air. Their mechanics are friendly and helpful, and they only work on the maintenance that you need and don’t replace things that don’t need to be replaced. They also have loaner cars available if your car is going to take a while to get fixed. You can also rent bikes. For one appointment, I got a ride home from the owner himself! This shop is knowledgeable, do great work, and really want to help you keep your car in good condition. Highly recommended.

I moved to Boulder about 6 months ago, was looking for a reliable mechanic & Independent Motors came highly recommended from more than one trusted source. Lucky for me, I havent needed to use them yet for any mechanical issues however, I finally went to get my CO plates today & ran into an issue with a stuck, stripped, screw as I was trying to remove my old plates & since Independent Motors is just a few blocks from my house, I stopped by to see if they could help. Kevin immediately grabbed some tools & met me at my car. After about 15 minutes he was finally able to remove the screw & he also discovered that all 4 screws that had been holding my old plate in place were the wrong size (which is why the one got stuck) so he replaced them. Super nice guy & despite my best efforts, he would not take any money for his trouble. Im almost looking forward to something going wrong with my car now just so I have a reason to give them some business.

Do you remember the scene in The Mask where Jim Carey goes into the car shop to pick up his Civic? Where two less than reputable gentleman inform him that his brakes are shot and he needs a new transmission when all he wanted was an oil change? You dont have to understand the finer points of film to see that these two are trying to screw over poor Jim Carey and probably make a business out of that same practice with other customers... After two visits to Independent Motors, the only nice thing I can say about them is that they reminded me of that scene in a beloved childhood movie.I took my 99 Lexus in last Friday due to some piston misfires. I was also, admittedly, pretty overdue for an oil change. Long story short, they replaced my #2 ignition coil and gave me an oil change. After two days, the same problem persisted with my car. I took it back on Thursday to see what the issue was. After a brief re-inspection, I was told that the problem was with my variable valve timing solenoid and that the cost to replace it would be anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000 and that I would be better off trading my car in for credit to get a different used vehicle.After a brief google search while discussing this with Jason, my BS meter was going off at an alarming rate, so I left with the intention to try a different mechanic my family has used for years.Why didnt you go there in the first place? you may ask. Because that mechanic is down in Colorado Springs and I now live in Boulder I would answer with a slightly condescending tone.I made my way down to Colorado Springs and dropped my car off. After only an hour, I was told that the problem was indeed my VVT and that it would need to be replaced. Which would cost a grand total off...$271.68. Far less than the 1-2k I was told that morning. Needless to say, they fixed the problem and now my car runs flawlessly.I never write reviews, but this business in particular broke me of that. I spent the rest of the afternoon calling everyone I could to tell them never to take their car in to Independent Motors. Friends, relatives, cheating exes I havent spoken to in years, even a couple radio stations.In the end, I am appalled, and would never recommend this place to anyone. Not even to use their parking lot in case the one for the bar down the street is full.Thanks for making me want to rewatch The Mask though, guys.

I have a twelve year old SUV and need a reliable shop for maintenance. Kicked around three other places in Boulder that I thought either didnt do a good job or werent being totally trustworthy. Started coming here on a recommendation from a friend and havent gone anywhere else. You can find another place in town that will replace your hydraulics and clutch pedal for $50 cheaper (as in my case) but it wont be done as well and they may try to screw you another way. As a repeat customer there have been times when Ive even gotten the pleasant phone call to say that there is nothing wrong with my truck. They are thorough and they do not oversell you on repairs.

I drove down to Boulder for the day from Avon to check out a truck that I wanted to purchase private party sale. Unfortunately, Independent Motors was too busy that day to squeeze me in for the used vehicle inspection, however, Kevin was nice enough to take the time to come out and look at the truck for me. He took it for a spin, looked underneath, and gave me a list of some issues that the truck had. Great customer service!!

My brake pads had totally worn down, and I went in for a full front brake job. About a month after this my brakes started squeaking. The squeak only got worse over the next month. I finally brought it back in and during a ride along they confirmed there was indeed some cosmetic brake squeak, nothing dangerous but annoying. At absolutely no additional cost to me they completely redid the brake job, and Ive had no problems since. I was impressed by these guys standing by their work and making things right. Thanks!

I have to admit that I did not get my car serviced here, I simply gave them a call regarding diagnosing my car. I spoke with Jason who was very knowledgable about Subarus and very honest, which speaks for itself in todays world. He spoke for 15 minutes listening to what I had to say and gave me ample feedback and diagnostic tips has to how he would go about testing and confirming the cars issue. He also spelled out the possible issues and costs that were included for each job. I personally would take my car to him if only I didnt live in Las Cruces, NM with an overheating WRX.

They are honest and fair-- Several times my car has needed a number of repairs, and they were able to tell me what was urgent, and what could wait. When I was traveling across the country, they inspected my car free of charge. They also let me use a loaner car for free! I have had nothing but positive experiences with them.
