Brandon listened to my description, asked questions, made a concession to a request that he didnt need to. Hoshi provided detailed description of my issue(s) and executed quickly to correct them. They even got me a couple used replacement parts to save me some money. Great service!

I just had my first of many experiences with Hoshi. I was coming off a long weekend and drove my Prius through a super deep puddle.My car started making the most terrible scrapping noise. I was scared to drive it home, luckily Hoshi was .4miles away.I left it overnight in their parking lot, the told me the next morning they were 3 weeks out, but would take a look at it.And to my delight it was a simple fix(clip the undercarriage back up) and they were done in a few hours.When I came in my total bill was $9.80🙏Thank you Hoshi for being so awesome!!

I have used Hoshi Motors since personally leaving my professional career working in Honda dealerships. Brown at Hoshi among most employees are factory trained employees that left the dealership world years ago. I had a timing belt and water pump along with a few other things done today. I got home after repairs and saw some coolant on my front Bumper and shot them a picture. Out of caution Brown called me in 40 seconds and said he wants to drive to my house and check it out. After looking there appeared nothing wrong to either of us but he asked to drive it back to the shop to make sure. They all stayed after hours and made sure it was all good and drove it back to me. Tell me another shop in this country that will do that! I’ve worked for 3 dealerships in 14 years and NO BODY will take care of you like Hoshi Motors in Boulder! Brandon, owner of Hoshi Motors, can best be described as fair. (Although empathetic and a highly skilled listener would also be appropriate.) We recently had a road trip in our Toyota 4 Runner that was plagued by attempts to repair a check engine light issue. When we returned, and I explained it to Brandon, he determined that a repair done by his mechanic had been responsible for the issue. (It was the result of a procedure that has not failed in the two years they have been using it.) He then wrote me a check to cover all of my repairs on this trip. Needless to say, we are very pleased with Hoshi Motors.

I took my car to this shop to get the AC fixed. A day after picking it up I was driving on the highway when emergency lights came on. I was able to pull over at the nearest exit, and after checking under the hood it was clear that the alternator belt was completely shredded, something that hadn’t even been an issue before. I had my car towed back to this shop and mechanic who worked on it owned up to it being a mistake on his part, he hadn’t checked that the interior workings of the car were secured before turning the keys back to me. Thankfully I am okay, but very shaken. They replaced my belt at no charge but I’ve had to take my car to another shop to ensure the work done on it is sound. I only report this because my safety was put at risk due to negligence on this shop’s behalf. I understand that everyone makes mistakes but this is beyond a margin of error that is acceptable. Please take caution if considering this shop.

I drive 45 minutes to come here! They are super knowledgeable, helpful, and have reasonable prices. I have an older car and it is at the point where it isnt reasonable to fix everything, but they walked me through my cars issues and helped me prioritize what to fix based on safety, likelihood of breaking, etc. Brown even explained what the parts that are damaged do for the car and the impact of that. Really great service and I appreciate the time to explain whats going on.

I could go on but specifically they fixed my mother’s car last minute notice the day before Thanksgiving AND after quoting me $800 for a new power steering pump on my accord ($500 parts), one of the front desk guys went out to my car and changed a gasket in 2 minutes that solved the hard steering issues I was having! I took my car in for a issue with a sound I heard. They told me what the problem was which was really nothing and no charge! They could have easily said it needed to be fixed and I would have paid. This is the type of place you can trust and I am now bringing my car in for service and maintenance.

Hoshi motors is the best garage I have ever taken my car to. I just found out that my Honda Element needed a head gasket replacement, which is incredibly expensive. The gentlemen that the front desk, named Brown, has consistently empathized with me about my car, taken the time to explain what, exactly, needed to be done, and makes what is otherwise a painful conversation kind, informative and easy. Whoever manages Brown should be sure that he stays for the long haul, because he is fantastic!

Ive gone to Hoshi since 1992, when I was a grad student in Boulder, and then moved back to Boulder in 2008 from Florida. They are the BEST! Brandon is kind and clear, and he really runs Hoshi both well and very humanely: you get great service, honesty, and warnings if your car is about to have a problem so they can fix it before it goes really bad. Every one of the staff is very competent: Sidney, Phil, Brown, Mike, and Hector are the ones I especially find helpful. When my 2001 Acura Integra finally bites the dust (no, no, no!!) I will get a used Honda or Acura so I can keep on trusting Hoshi to take care of it. The reason my 19-year-old car is doing so splendidly is that Hoshi has been caring for it for 11 years!

These guys are the most competent and honest mechanics in Boulder hands down. I hate to recommend them because they are already busy. I have used their service for about 5 years and it is consistently great. And let me relate a recent experience. At 7:30 AM my front wheel was making scary noises. I stopped by Hoshi on the odd chance they could look at it. Hollis took a look and immediately diagnosed that I screwed up putting the hub nuts on right when I changed the tires. He checked everything, fixed the nuts, and threw in a lesson on correct tightening procedures... all for free. Typical experience for this place.

Hoshi always provides the best level of service. I appreciate their candid answers about work that needs to be done. I had a cv joint that was making noise and was concerned that it needed to be replaced. They assured me it wasnt critical and could wait. Went in for a diagnosis because I heard some belt squealing on a few cold morning starts. Mechs at Hoshi held my car for two days but couldnt replicate the issue. I fully expected to pay something for their time, but to my surprise, they didnt charge me a single dime! No storage fee, no estimate charge, nothing! They even told me of a future issue with my water pump, and gave a quote for replacement for free! Hoshi motors comes highly recommended from me!

If you have a Honda, Acura, Subaru or Toyota then you shouldnt take it anywhere else. Example: take your car to a dealership, they tell you it will cost $1500 to fix something. Take it to Hoshi Motors, they find the some thing but first try the $100 repair, and when that doesnt work they fix it for $600. Thats half of what it costs for the dealership, more convenient, and much much friendlier.

I had Hoshi Motors work on my moms 2002 Honda civic and because of the holiday it wasnt going to be done until the first week in January. I contacted over 10 shops for quotes and picked Hoshi because of the conversation with Brandon the owner. He is a great guy and seemed fair and he sounded like he knew what he was doing. Im a mechanic and I knew what I wanted but was on vacation and had to go home in the next couple of days and couldnt do the work myself. So I took the car in early to leave it with him. To my surprise he called me the next day and said the car was done. I had the car back in 24 hours. He slipped it in early. The car was fixed and drives great.In this day and age of people looking out only for themselves and taking advantage of others, I feel Brandon treated me fairly, honestly, and stood behind his word. I really appreciate him getting the car done early before I had to go back home. Its good to know that Boulder has a place to take your car and get fixed quickly, correctly, and at a fair price.

What a great experience! After being told that my mother needed a new radiator for her Baja and all associated hoses for $1600, Hoshi informed us that all that was wrong was a pair of pliers left on the battery and a open radiator cap. They gave it a good look over and said that the car is in great shape. We left with a $0 bill and are customers for life!

Stopped in to drop off my wifes 14 MDX for a horrible grinding noise heard emanating from the front passenger side wheel. I thought it was going to be a bad bearing or perhaps a suspension issue. The owner, Brandon, kindly encouraged me to leave the vehicle there for the diagnostic inspection and he promised to get back to me by the end of the day, it was already 1:30 pm.Less than 2 hours later, Brandon called and left a message indicating the vehicle was ready for pickup. As I anxiously walked in the front door, expecting the worst diagnosis and prognosis, I challenged Brandon, I bet you that it is a bad bearing, right? He smiled and confidently replied, Nope! Brandon extended his hand and opened his clenched fist, palm up. Inside was a small pebble. He said, this was your problem. He went on to report the pebble was stuck somewhere in that front wheel assembly and was causing that horrible grinding noise.Needless to say, this was GREAT news. Brandon and the entire Hōshi Motors team has taken fantastic care of our other Honda vehicle, a 06 Pilot(timing belt replacement, etc)that our kids use. We will continue to utilize Brandon and his team at Hōshi Motors for their professionalism, courtesy, and the straight-forward, fair and honest manner in which they run their business. I STRONGLY recommend Hōshi Motors!

What can be said about Hoshi that hasnt been said by others? These folks are the nicest, most helpful and fair customer service experience youll ever have and theyre a car shop! Theyll remember your name and offer you quick advice for free. Bagels in the morning and a free ride around Boulder when you drop off your car. Always a thorough explanation and they make a point to explain when you dont really need to fix an issue. If it just requires zip ties, theyll slap those on and not charge you for a lengthy procedure. To sum it up, when buying a new car, I only looked at Japanese brands that Hoshi would service. The difference is that big.
