Ordered a drip coffee. Yeah, the acidity and caffeine are definitely there. Customer service can be better. If the communication isnt established between the front end and the back end - then who is to correct the discrepancy?
Iced coffee soooo bad. I don’t know if it’s me but surprisingly bad. And cost me 6$ for a large. Yuck.BUT SUPER FRIENDLY, COVID SAFE, LOTS TO LOVE OTHERWISE.Still that iced coffee is so bad. Wow. Even cream and sugar doesn’t help.
Definitely the best mocha Ive had in a while. More chocolatey than usual, but not in the powdery way. Friendly and kind staff.
Coffee was delicious! The coffee itself gets 5 stars, the missing star is the staff. They’re a little weird and somewhat standoffish. Could improve customer service but I don’t go there for the customer service necessarily. Bomb coffee and coffee beans
All bevrages we had (a drip coffee, a chocolate milk and a green tea with milk) were well prepared. The corner shop has inside and outside seating areas and great window fronts. A good place to have a coffee in downtown Berkeley.
Its open! Awesome location, you can seat and talk as long as like. Id recommend iced coffee. I went along with my very first friend in Berkeley.
Love the almond milk option here over the oat milk. My go-to order is always an iced latte w/ almond milk. Simple and straight to the point. All the BBC locations that Ive ever visited have been consistent in their quality and service. I even grabbed a bag of the Hayes Valley espresso beans to brew at home. overall is good
If you live to drink coffee or you know a good espresso from a burnt one, you cant miss Blue Bottle. This location has the hustle of a downtown location but its the coffee I seek out while Im in the Bay
The best, now that Philz moved from Shattuck Avenue!
Oat milk latte was great! They use Oatly barista
Apple store meet Starbucks. Frankly, this brand shows the power of marketing. The coffee shop completely looks like an Apple retail outlet, but it’s coffee!Giving the ice latte a taste, it’s good. At the same time, is it a place I “must go!?” I guess Folks in other countries find the novelty of their marketing.
Really good coffee for a premium price and plan on waiting. If youre looking for fast and cheap, look elsewhere. But if you are a pour-over aficionado, this might be your east bay mecca...
Super awake & friendly Barista, we had, so nice, when people are friendly which each other, life is hard enough, it was very pleasant!
This is our go to coffee place almost every morning. The price is worth the flavor and quality of the crew.
Anne was so kind she is so vibrant. She was so welcoming as my friend and I came in. Awesome experience!
Strong, delicious coffee with a ton of varieties. Tasty treats available, too.
This coffee shops lattes are some of my favorites! Their barista is an expert at preparing coffee, and the service is excellent.
Ok this cafe is super famous near the campus so there are a number of fans for this place. I could see the reason why - they have good coffee and the place seems hip. There are two reasons for giving 3 stars. First, at least the coffee I ordered - New Orleans - was not that good for me. It seemed like the coffees ordered by others looked nice and smelled great so I think that I was just a bit unlucky in that I did not order something that would have fit my taste.Second, as a cafe-goer for studying, it was absolutely not a favorable place for working. There is no plug and the chair is not comfortable. I dont want a comfy sofa but just some chairs with at least a back.Let me update the first part after trying other menus but so far it was a bit hard for me to find some reasons to visit here again.
The Apple store of coffee shops....There is just something special about the coffee here that I think justifies the hype. The hand poured coffee has a sublime and unique character to it and is just a joy to drink. The cappuccinos are also very good (only one size though). Blue Bottle isnt cheap but worth popping by every now and then. The avocado toast is amazing!
In a world of snotty baristas, the crew on staff today was just lovely. The coffee suggestion was on point and Im a very happy customer! Thx!
Great food, great bar, great staff.
Quality is solid. Try the new Orleans coffee if you have a chance. Wish they cleaned the windows but that has nothing to do with the coffee.
Very expensive, pretty good.
Friendly staff, great coffee! Theyre also really safely setup with covid precautions, etc.
Very authentic coffee shop... Service was amazing!
Blue Bottle is a very nice store for coffee and tea. They offer a tremendous selection of different strengths and flavors. The presentation is excellent and their staff do a good job with frothing nicely.
I’m a Mocha lover, they have so far the best in Berkeley. You can taste immediately that it’s not made from some cheap chocolate sauce (which many coffee shops use), the cocoa has a slightly sour hint, which I personally love, and goes perfectly well with the coffee. Plus all the staffs working here are really nice and cute too ;p always a pleasure to visit!
Excellent waitstaff.
I’ve heard good things about Blue Bottle, and had high hopes for my first visit, but it was a very disappointing experience. It was Sunday afternoon, and they were clearly understaffed, with the person at the cash register trying to jump between taking orders and making pour-overs, with only one other employee there to help, getting frazzled with the long line of customers. They apparently made a mistake with my first pour-over because I watched them dump it and start over. The next attempt went fine, but then they somehow took the brewing green tea they were making for us, forgot about it, and put it on the counter behind them. Several minutes later, we had to ask them about it, and it was clear that they had lost track of who the green tea was for in the first place. As a result, it was overbrewed and way too strong. They didn’t seem particularly concerned about their mistake, perhaps because they were just trying to keep up with the rest of the customers.Hopefully, it’s just a one-off mistake, but if that’s their normal operating procedures, I can’t recommend it.
Ordering through the window seemed safe and convenient.
Great cup of coffee!
We’ve bumped into this place accidentally before walking in Berkeley University. We ordered coffee and waffles “to go” and both items were very good. The waffles were fantastic actually! One was salty and another one sweet. I highly recommend this place.
It looks like Steve Jobs oversaw the architectural design of this place. Its beautiful. Plus good coffee, waffles, music, and friendly staff. This franchise needs to expand! I want it in São Paulo :)
Wish they had a good old fashioned chai latte
Minimalistic design with good coffee and pastries. A good place to work if you dont mind noise from people and your laptop has a long-lasting battery. My favorites: cold brew, mini brownies, and tahini chocolate chip cookie.
Been here couple of times. As a coffee enthusiast myself, its always a pleasure to visit this place. Specialty cold brews and pour overs that change monthly are available here. Staff is friendly and are well knowledgeable to introduce you their variety of coffee beans. I love their Bella Donovan blend.
Best espresso on the block. Baristas are super friendly - even at 6:30 in the morning! And consistently great music.
Blue bottle isn’t your average coffee shop. I went in a couple days ago and I was quite impressed. The ambiance is exquisite. You truly feel like part of the BB family due to their excellent and pleasant baristas. The experience that you undergo while watching them create your drink is a marvelous change of pace, when compared to other shops. The latte is magnificent. Drey was so sweet and helpful! (,: She answered all my questions and made a great recommendation. It did not disappoint.
Cold, uninviting, but good coffee.
Coffee is great, but it always takes so long. They make coffees one by one. Staff here definitely need some training from Aussie baristas.
Great coffee. So precise. Its fun to chat with them about the process, its pretty mind blowing how they keep the product so consistently amazing. Despite the reputation for being high brow coffee, Ive found everyone friendly, welcoming and very into good customer service.
Lovely as always x
$6 for an almondmilk latte? Am I crazy? Probably, but I cant deny that it was one of the best lattes Ive had in a while, and Im from Portland (we are huge coffee snobs ;)) I would recommend you to try this place at least once. Its not really in my budget so I probably wont be back for a while, but I cannot deny that their coffee is delicious!
The food rivals the coffee at these wonderful, clean, light, open, minimalist cafés, unique to each location. Extraordinary flower arrangements at some.
Emporers new clothes...... Thats a bit harsh, its great coffee, but dang, so expensive, buy a cheaper cup and give a few bucks to charity.
Nice, airy atmosphere. Tea is very average - only have three choices. Didn’t have any food but it looked good. Overall would recommend though.
The coffee was excellent, the personnel friendly and professional. The interior is cold and not so inviting to stay and enjoy the time. Additionally for computer workers - there are no charging outlets.
Seriously good drip coffee. Close to the campus and a lively student friendly environment. Great service and a bunch of coffee options. Also try the waffles, pretty good for the price.
Good coffee and great staff. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Would have been better if they had more charging points and comfy seats - currently, its high chairs without back support.
Fancy coffee shop. Nice and strong.
A modern and hip looking coffee shop. The drip Rwandan coffee was awesome as well as the ham and cheese baguette sandwich. Make sure you have a mobile Hotspot if you need to use Internet and also there arent any places to plug your chargers into an outlet.
Beautiful as all Blue Bottles shops are. Best coffee ever and really delicious pastries and sandwiches 💜
Good coffee, nice space. Its definitely good but Im not entirely sure its $5 coffee good... Its the best in downtown though.
Consistently great chain. The baristas are the best, the coffee is great. Small food menu, but it is always enough. Prices are high, but so is the quality.
Good quality and a modern place, but a bit overpriced to my taste.
Great coffee, delicious espresso, and the best mocha Ive had. It has that bay area hipster, apple store vibe. The only downside is there are no outlets.
Still love you BB! Thanks for always serving a reliable exquisite cup of the good stuff.
Great espresso coffee for the US. I was intrigued that my latte took a while to make. I am used to Australian baristas making multiple coffees at the same time. Well worth the visit if you are craving a decent REAL coffee.
Nice place and I really appreciate that they have paper straws but that’s all for it.. the coffee is just no
Great coffee shop, really nice barista and service. Have really good heart to serve people. Coffee are awesome taste.
Best third wave coffee
Great coffee, great service and friendly staff. Also clean restroom and many seats for working on laptop, reading or people watching
Plenty of seating including standing bars. Clean, modern interior. Standard (high) Blue Bottle quality.
Coffee was delicious, employees were kind, and was very quick.
I’m a huge fan of Blue Bottle (especially Bella Donovan and Giant Steps) and after spending the last couple of months on the road/moving, I’ve missed my reliably delicious morning cup of Blue Bottle. After deciding to spend May checking out different neighborhoods in the East Bay, I was happy to learn that this Blue Bottle wasn’t too far from the Airbnb I’m staying at. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, and even gave me a free pour-over sample with my purchase of a bag. The vibe/ambience is also great - positive, with people working on their laptops, without feeling like an overcrowded office space.
For all its hipstery pretentions, the coffee is rather bad. You can get a waffle or a freakishly named cookies. A decent cup of coffee is just not their thing.
Coffee was very bitter just like the staff as youre probably getting fresher coffee and fresher staff
First visit at this location in Berkeley. Its a big wide open space. Lots of stools for seating. Big windows and lots of light.
Great service, a big plus, DOGS ARE ALLOWED (≧▽≦)
Food and coffee is good. Plenty of places to sit. Wheelchair accessible, but no Wifi. Prices are maybe a couple cents more, but I dont fault them since they are in busy City area.
Stark cold atmosphere is offset by BBs main delivery...excellent and consistent coffee beverages. For a more sophisticated experience step inside BAM and take the stairs to the second floor. Babette is a gem of a cafe...you will be pleasantly surprised.
The whole experience feels like you just walked into an episode of Black Mirror. When they called my name it felt like it was to be followed with the doctor is ready to see you now. The coffee is great but it loses 3 stars for the super off-putting vibe.
Great coffee, pastry, clean. Not like the old funky coffee places that Berkeley was known for. But..real coffee not Starbucks..the original Peets still great. But RIP the great ones like the Med on telegraph :(
The place is very neat and clean.the servers are amazingThe coffee is one of the best beans Ive ever had.I frequent this place very often.
The coffee is almost as awesome as the service. The place is pretty neat too.
The best coffee in town. This time we also tried their banquette sandwich and it was delicious.
Great coffee with a choice of vegan milks free WiFi - just wish there were more gluten free vegan snack options which would make it a 5 star 🌟
