Great place. I had a to get a tire replaced and innertube to get back out thier peddling and they took care of that no problem just walking in. No appointment necessary. Very professional place and helpful. They have everything you need for your π² and the staff is real polite. I will defenately be back for more parts and the service. Thank you
The place is as great and reliable as ever. Phil was the mechanic who worked on my bike. Im glad hes still around. I hadnt been there in over 3 years but he still remembered me, as did one of the other mechanics. If youre going to spend money on bike repairs, do yourself a favor, just go to Missing Link in Berkeley. Okay?
Really great and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend this place for bike purchase and maintenance.
Amazing guys at the shop, do a quick job and super fair with pricing
Love this place. I like to do most maintenance myself, and Missing Link has the most helpful mechanics. Iβve gotten great help with small things even when my bike didnβt need a full repair. I know where Iβll take it when it does!
Its not a fancy bike store but the staff are super friendly, pricing is good, and they definitely did a great tune-up of my bike!We also got a kid bike for $150.
Really great spot with wonderful people. They were generous with their knowledge and time, not too cool to help a bike layman
Iβve been repairing my familyβs bikes here the last five years and they keep them running well and safe. Iβve even come in here once for minor things and the bike mechanics would spend a minute fixing something simple and they send me off. Even though their gear in store is more expensive than buying it online, I usually end up buying it here just to support the business and to keep a great place like this going since theyβre a vital part of the neighborhood.
Disappointing. Wonβt be coming back. I have a road bike worth a couple hundred dollars that needed basic repairs. After waiting 20 minutes just to talk to someone, Young man with tan skin gave me worst customer service ever. Getting him to write up my repair ticket felt like pulling teeth. I left paying hundreds of dollars and my bike actually functioned worse when I left. No one bothered to test drive or inform me of any possible replacement part incompatibilities. Came back to complain and the tried to sell me hundreds of dollars more worth of repairs. Went to Biketopia and got my bike working for $35. Maybe this is a good place if u r super rich but I expected better service from a locally owned shop
Got an old BionX rear hub rebuilt after the previous bike shop did a train wreck of a job. Missing Link went well above and beyond, including hand cutting 36 spokes at two different lengths to get the dishing right without compromising thread engagement. The wheel now rolls smooth as silk, and far far better than ever before. And all at a price lower than what I would have expected to pay in Oklahoma, let alone Berkeley. This shop definitely has master craftsmen who take pride in their work!Update: Stress tested the rebuilt wheel on the Skyline-Pinehurst loop, and it was so good I had a 10% improvement on my previous speed record. It really is like riding on a rail!
Excellent bike co-op with good service, parts, and new bikes.
Love this crew! I always get good service and knowledgeable advice. The techs have gone out of their way to adjust my 18-year-old derailleur several times and one tech persistently trouble-shot an annoying frame squeak over several visits and didnt actually charge me.This is a COOPERATIVE! How many groups of folx have figured out how to successfully sustain themselves in that mode for so long? That relational work and creating a culture to maintain it is behind-the-scenes work that is unsung. Hats off to you and thanks for modeling community to our community!
I like that this shop is cheaper than some of the others in Oakland and Berkeley, but they also seem to be really slow. I made an appointment for Monday to have a basic job done on my bike. They told me that appointment jobs get priority, and usually get done sooner. Three days later, the bike still isnt done. I called today, and they said there are still four (!!) jobs ahead of mine, and that it will maybe be done Friday or Saturday. Not sure if making an appointment even made a difference.
Got great service for a tire issue and ended up buying accessories. I have a hard tail Specialized Rockhopper 29er. I love it, but there are more expensive bikes. They were not pushy or judgmental. Bike snobs. Got good input in tire repair and even local trails from James. Highly recommend.
Very nice people and they had what I needed!
Really great deals and excellent customer service. Our rep, Chris, found me the perfect bike and took a lot of time explaining the mechanics, sanitizing a helmet for a test ride, and more.Awesome bike shop!
So fast! So skilled! So friendly! So helpful! So reasonably priced. I want these guys to stay open.
Nice guy, bikes to test ride
Great service and repairs for many years, though so sorry the repairs shop across street closed and bike paraphernalia reduced to essentials!
Best bike shop in the East Bay. Chuck made my bike better than new and I didnt have to spend a fortune on repairs. I leave satisfied and very happy with my experience every time I visit the shop. I have no need to go to any other bike shop here
Conveniently located by Downtown Berkeley station. Friendly, knowledgable customer service. I highly recommend making a reservation on their website.
They know there business. They are swamped with repairs so ours was estimated to be 10 days. Prices seem good.
Was having issues with another bike shop so finally decided to try somewhere else. These guys were awesome! They listen to what you want and dont just push the most expensive bike at you. As a novice bike buyer, and just wanting a bike to commute, they definitely did a great job explaining the bikes and giving me affordable options. I recommend them!
This place is the best. Good selection of the stuff you need. If you just need a couple minute job you can do it yourself and if you need a more complex job they are there to do that. AND most importantly they treat you like a person instead of an idiot like so many elitist shops do. I know bikes better than most... That Im a bike genius let me tell you stuff gets old..... This place is not like that at all.... Again, great place
Its not the biggest bike shop in Berkeley, but its the only coop bike shop, and the only one w a DIY bike repair tool corral.
Ive worked at a bike shop and this is one of the good ones. They have a customer work station which is unheard of and super sweet! The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is the kind of store that can survive the online sales.
By far the best bike shop I have ever visited. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and dont try to over sell you. The best thing about this shop is they let you use some tools and workspace for free as part of their co-operative. I will be definitely revisiting! Thumbs up!
An awesome bike shop with lots of experienced staff. I love their do-it-yourself bike repair station. Staff are friendly and flexible enough to humor the occasional strange request (can you cut and thread some spokes to 2 length for me?).
This is where multi-talented expertise meets the street, and the spokes. There interest is STRICTLY towards allowing you a good, economic direction in your biking purchases and service. They have zero direction towards promotions that might needlessly empty your wallet.
Pretty rude customer service. I came in today after being told the bike was ready. Two days ago I called to check, but was hung up after telling me they didnβt know who fixed my bike. The person today told me to write down my name because he could not read it, after making me wait for five minutes. No apologies, no thank yous, and no explanations.
The best bicycle store ever. Daren found my sons bicycle problem within a second and fixed even it was small fix. Everybody is very friendly and its a kid friendly to. Well be coming here again .
Great co-operative bike store. The staff are very knowledgeable and they have a good selection of bikes and accessories. They also have a place to work and loaner tools inside the shop.
Went there looking for some 8-speed bar-end shifters for my touring bike that every other shop in the area told me are too old fashion and difficult to find. Not only did they know what I was talking about, they went out of their way to find me some and show me how to install them. Their staff is really attentive and helpful. I will definitely return.
Horrible customer service and didnt treat people color with respect. Had to wait 15 minutes until I was acknowledged. If you are a poor college student looking for a commuter bike, avoid this place!
This has been my go to bike shop since I moved to Berkeley and I canβt recommend it enough. Iβve probably visited at least 15-20 times since 2016. Staff encourage bike literacy and the store has a DIY station where you can borrow tools free of charge (just deposit your ID for the duration). Labor charges are very reasonable and the mechanics that have helped me out have always made an effort to explain what they did and why. Not remembering everyoneβs names but James and Patrick are both super helpful and friendly. Great community, plus itβs worker-owned. Gonna keep going here and if I ever choose to buy a new bike itβll be my first stop.
These folks are pros. Just moved from Brooklyn,NY and was looking for a new bike shop with outstanding service.
This is a great store! They have a toolbox that you can use to repair your bike yourself. They are overpriced (+50%), but the staff is very nice and theyll help you out. (Except John, the older guy wearing all black. He is a dick and will mock you instead of helping.)
These guys KNOW what theyre doing!Dependable service, from flats to accessories to killer bikes!I come there for service in often and recommend then highly...
I love this place. They are always so helpful and friendly!
Best bike shop in Berkley! I was attended quickly and got everything I needed to a very good price. Their stuff was very helpful and friendly.
Reps were patient and knowledgeable in helping me decide which bike to buy. Also had a great selection of Surly, and Bianchi bikes (amongst others).
They gave me good advice on what to buy to lock up my bike without spending a fortune. (switched out my quick-release axles and taped up their bolt ends). my bike is cheap, so its not worth buying the keyed axles. i appreciate their honesty - theyre not out to make you buy the most expensive stuff.:)
This is pretty much the only bike place I go to. They are definitely overpriced, but they give advice while youre doing repairs using their loaner tools. Sometimes you have to wait, but its definitely an excellent arrangement for people with no space for bike tools.
I took my totally functioning bike in to mikes bikes, other than the fact that we were having trouble tightening the seat in place. They looked at it for 3 minutes and deemed it unfixable! Done! Refusing to accept this ridiculous sounding prognosis, we headed to the missing link cooperative where a lovely man had the novel idea of using a thread chaser to clean out grit that had collected in the screw grooves. 10 minutes and $15 later, voila! Good as new.
A friendly and knowledge local bike shop that is great for repairs and bike accessories. There are other bike shops closer to me, but Ill always go to Missing Link.
I walked in with a flat tire on my bike and Bill helped me out right away. I left with a new tube installed 15 min later. Great repair service.
Always helpful and good service without pretense.
Grass roots bicycle shop. Very good for Berkeley downtown. Keeping Berkeley more like Berkeley, like it should be :) Sure to be renound someday.
I have rarely been to this store without having a bad experience (usually involving being mocked by the staff). My most recent frustration occurred today when I bought a spare tube and the tools to change it. I was asked to leave the store to actually do the work. I have never, ever been asked to leave a bike shop to change a tube. Normally I am prepared to change my tube and this experience will encourage me not to forget my tools again. I hope to avoid this store in the future.
THE bike shop to go to in Berkeley. The only reason I ever go to any of the others is because theyre open later. Missing Link is the best though! Friendly and helpful, and they even have a DIY maintenance room in the back. Shout-out to all the people who helped me with my crazy handcycle that I was riding around Berkeley when I broke my leg (in a biking accident of course)! Happy to say Im back on my regular bikes now : D
Very helpful and friendly folks. Knowledgeable and very patient with kids.
Great place. Friendly staff. Cool bikes.
Very friendly and professional staff! Thank you for so many great advice and taking care of my bicycle!
Very nice and helpful! thank you very much
Coops are great and this is the best. The sales staff are knowledgeable and dont try to just shuffle you thru to a sale.
Excellent locally-owned bike shop, staff with decades of experience
Went in for a tire repair, and got it completed in 5 minutes! Customer service was super friendly, and could tell that everyone was passionate about what they do!
Great staff, great prices, very welcoming vibe to it the shop.
Great customer service, very friendly
Great shopping experience and service. Highly recommended for me and my whole family.
Still the best bet in berkeley; bought a few bikes there. still the best selection for prices and service
Like most LBS, they know their stuff but customer service can be lost in translation, so speak up and ask questions! Love their bike station as well
Great store with a helpful DIY bike fixing area in the back.
Scott, the owner was extremely helpful in helping me select a bike. The owners and the employees all seems like enthusiasts rather than salespeople.
Great prices and free use of tools
Very helpful and friendly staff. Got just what I wanted.
I just left the shop and am extremely dissapointed. I initially visited the repairshop and was directed across the street to the main bike shop. I am a firstime customer. I saw a Biachi Via nirone with a sale tag that was 100 dollars of the regular price of $849. I decided I wanted it. The guy at the counter( 58 with short slightly grey trimmed beard) who has trouble with giving eye contact immediately said it was a mistake and took the tag off. I asked if he would honor the sale tag and it took much effort ( without eye contact) to mumble that the purchaser was on break, and he could not. After this he was done speaking., This gouy is an owner, ( hes a weak link in the business; I left upset crossed the street and went to repair shop. A nice young lady took my name and number down to contact me once she spoke to the purchaser. Hopefully they will do right and honor their price. Otherwise, the guy manning the desk should spun upside down on a pole.
I love us!
Missing link has a free diy area with loaner tools
The people who work here are knowledgeable and helpful. Bill did a brief diagnosis and tune up when I was really rushed. Try this place before any other.
Staff knows what they are doing and they wont try to price gauge you.
Your local independent bike shop. Treasure it.
Great helpful staff, not pushing for sales
Super knowledgeable staff.
They just fixed my sickly bicycle for a song, and now I feel like Im the Monkey King riding around on a cloud.
Good price
Excellent service
