When travelling in Central Oregon, my Mini Cooper popped a check engine light and lost power. German Master Tech was able to get the car in for service a few days later. I feared the worst, but they diagnosed and performed a relatively simple repair and had me back on the road the same day. Tim and Kim were great. Excellent service at a fair price. I wish GMT was in my hometown.
Our car broke down while on vacation in Bend. Master Tech ordered parts right away and had our classic car running in a few days. Very professional, well priced and fast service. The shop is extremely clean and like a museum for cool foreign cars. Since we have property in the area we are in town a lot. This will be our go-to place for our cars!
Absolutely love and appreciate Tim and the great staff at German Master Tech and the great values they give their customers. Highly, highly recommend GMT for you European import vehicle
They work on my Lotus. Quality work at reasonable prices. Theyve done a tune up, oil change, brakes and mounted and balanced my tires, fixed reverse that didnt work. Highly recommended for skill, and quality work that wont break the bank. My go to shop.
As a first time owner of a used Mercedes I knew I would need a mechanic I could trust. I did my research and Im happy with my choice. Theres something about this place that just screams impeccable service. (I will stop trying to figure that one out and just keep returning as a loyal client)
My 1975 914 has been with me almost 45 years, so I do not take it to just anyone for repairs. I heard about GMT, so I took it to Tim. His crew did some engine, suspension, muffler, and restoration work. The car is awesome, almost like new. Tim is great to work with, and all the guys know what they are doing. They get 5 Stars. You can trust Tim and the guys at GMT. I would not go anywhere else. Thanks guys!
Excellent service. Ill be recommending them to everyone.
Ridiculously poor business ethics. I have been dealing with GMT for over a decade and was in shock and disbelief during my last visit to the point I will never use or refer anyone to them again. There are plenty of other reputable shops in Central Oregon that are deserving of your business and I urge you to give anyone else your business as a consumer.
My nightmare doesnt have to be yours as well spare yourself the pain of a man attempting to bleed your wallet dry or destroy your car trying.Tim i planned to buy a new transmission from german transaxle, your job was to clean and paint my block as well as removal and separation of the pack. You asked me if I wanted you to paint the whole block. You wanted to charge extra because you misunderstood it as spot treatment on the back of the block and wanted then to charge more to paint the front of the block. Who paints just part of an engine tim? You stopped the labor by going beyond the work discussed and undercut german transaxles bid on sourcing a transmission... you shouldve just done what the owner of the vehicle requests and keep it to that, I cant respect people who try to steal business from neighbors.
Personalized & excellent service, transparency & a commitment to doing it at a top level. Kim, Tim & Crew really care. They have worked on our cars numerous times and have always been upfront communicators on whats needed, options and costs. How is it they make you and your vehicles feel so special? Im not sure their secret sauce and I bet it has something to do with how much they care. One time, our car broke down right by their shop, after they were closed. We limped over and they were there, trying to do a quick fix and when the car turned out to need more they even gave us a ride home. We have sent many people their way and all were beyond satisfied.
5 star recommend for our experience with German Master Tech and Tim & Kim - we were treated like family and they will have our business moving forward. Thank you for everything!
I love this shop. This is my go-to mechanic. You can tell that the people at German Master Tech enjoy their jobs and they are happy people. They are always extremely helpful, friendly and they do excellent work. Even though the labor rate seems expensive, my experience has been that it is no more expensive to take my car here than anywhere else I used to go. I highly recommend this shop. I trust them without a second thought.
Tim and his crew are great, super knowledgeable and very thorough. Highly recommend.
Wow! Professionals that actually do what they say theyre gonna do! Bravo! The sweet super friendly gals in the office will make your day! Go see em!!
This is the best shop I’ve ever worked with, bar none. If you like a job done right, as promised, on time, and not have to worry about getting gouged, this is the place for you. No one knows more or has more passion for German cars than Tim. He and all the people there are super nice and great to work with. I gave them a fairly difficult challenge, and they exceeded my expectations, including going over and above to negotiate with my insurance to get proper coverage for the work. I couldn’t be happier.
Went here for loads of services and breaks on my Mini Cooper. I mostly trusted them when Scott was there, but when the shutdown hit he left. Six months, $6000 worth of work, and I finally left when something happened that was either gross negligence or done on purpose so they could charge me more money to “fix it.” They fixed an oil line issue, then really fought me about taking it back (weirdly, over-the-top fought me, as if he was scared for me to drive it), finally towed it somewhere else to find a hose in the area had been disconnected - literally the only issue. The shop is pretty and it feels so clean - which got me in - but their estimates always go up, they always keep your car longer, and i genuinely don’t trust them at all. Thanks for ruining my love of my car. I just felt abused by this place in the end. Never able to plan, always last minute rental cars and more and more problems, more and more money. It wasn’t like that when I took it somewhere else - it’s not the car - it’s them.
Gave an honest appraisal
Very good, I was impressed...
Have been servicing my 06 Cayenne S there for awhile now and can confidently say they are the best around. Always easy to get an appointment, very honest, and pricing is extremely reasonable. If you want to pay a LOT less than at the dealer for a better experience, nice waiting area, good coffee, and friendly people - I highly recommend German Master Tech!
Thermostat on my Audi failed. Got it replaced, $700A week later that thermostat failed. Got it replaced under warranty. Was told when they installed it they broke a piece of plastic off during installation. Human error. Totally cool, replaced with a new one. < this was a lie. That one failed again with in a week. Took it back for round three. They opened it up, found another bit of plastic in there. It was then determined the plastic was from the original thermostat that failed and now I had to pay for all of them since it was no longer their fault.A) when replacing the first one why didnt they tell me there were plastic bits missing. Also why didnt they do a coolant flush?B) on round two why would they tell me THEY broke the piece off when it was in fact from the original? I would have assumed they would match up the piece with the part to know this. I very specifically asked if there was any possibility there could be more plastic and was told, no. < another lieC) had I known there were plastic bits I would have demanded a coolant flush.I was livid. And the owner finally brought the cost Down and I was out another $500. Which I think is rediculous.
The terms trust and mechanic rarely occur in the same sentence... but at GMT they go hand in hand.I brought my 2005 Mini Cooper S here when it was long over due for service, was experiencing some intermittent over heating problems, and needed a new battery. I had called a few local mechanics before booking my appointment with GMT, but none if them had experience with Mini Coopers and one was even Googling the issues I was describing. When I called GMT they knew exactly what was going on and had enough experience to accurately estimate what level of service/ parts Id be in for.GMT provided by far the best auto service Ive ever encountered (ever... not just in Bend). German Master Tech brings expertise, professionalism, and honesty to an industry that is all too often filled with filthy mechanics out to take advantage of folks who dont know any better. The owner even took the time to walk me through the diagnostics they ran, things they fixed, and things that dont need immediate repair- but I should keep on my radar during the next service. I will definitely be back for routine service and for future repairs. Thanks German Master Tech!~Kaitlyn
We had issues with our BMW X3 with the check engine light going on and off, and some sounds when we turned sharply, after driving to Bend from Ontario (4000km). We stopped by, and Tim proved to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Apart from a short tour through his impressive shop, he gave us many helpful tips, and we made an appointment to have the transfer case fluid changed (probably for the first time after 215k kilometers). He did a full physical as well (almost 2 hours) and printed out a detailed report. 170 dollars well spent, we feel much better about driving back to Ontario! If we would live in Bend, he would be certainly our go to guy!
Technical experts with GREAT customer service! Between the time I dropped my car off and got home (~10 min) German Master Tech was able to diagnose a problem another (good) shop wasnt able to. During another visit, there was an issue with a part coming in later than expected and I had a drop dead time I needed a car by - they went above and beyond to ensure I was able to do what I needed to on time. For me, its not just expert service Im looking for, but also how companies react and work with you when things dont go as expected. This company and their staff are top notch!
After terrible service and treatment from the Mercedes dealer working with German Master Tech was a seriously great experience. Scott was absolutely fantastic and kept me updated every two days. In the end I ended up paying $2500 less than The Bend Mercedes dealer had quoted me and got it done in under a week when the Mercedes dealer had said a month.10/10 Highly recommend
They went overboard to diagnose the problems and let us know its not a good idea to repair..thank you for that.
Top quality service. I needed a emergency check over before a long trip. Even though he was booked up he made time to look at car. These are my go-to guys!! Thanks Tim!
Ive posted before about this business, they dont disappoint - they care for their customers! They are responsible, honest and do a great job communicating with you. Very important when it comes to your vehicle and your money! Very pleased to recommend their service. 5 star service.
Love it here. Awesome service. Scott and his team are always readily available and very helpful. They have given me such good information and are willing to consult with me whenever I need it. I cant say enough good things about this organization.
These guys and gals are great. They take very skilled care of my 2001 BMW 530i car. I love driving this car, has lots of powerful miles left in it, thanks to German Master Tech.
GMT provided great advice and then handled the repairs - matching or beating other bids for the same work. I really trust their knowledge and credibility. As an added bonus, they took care of a smaller, lingering issue with my ignition as part of the overall service work they performed. Really appreciated their efforts.
The most honest and straightforward mechanics Ive ever met. I have an older (06) 750i which I love - they do any repairs needed at very reasonable prices. I would not consider taking my car to any other mechanic. period.
GMT services my SL 500 and has always been professional, friendly and most knowledgeable. They’re great people to work with.
Some of the people there are not very kind. Brought my car in to have something looked at and quoted but when they told me that there wasn’t anything wrong with it, they brought up all the other problems that I already knew about. When I told them I didn’t want to have it ACTUALLY looked at, they got upset. At one point, one of them pretty much told me to stop talking after I got excited that nothing was wrong. Don’t get me wrong they are a great company and they do great work but some of the employees definitely didn’t make me feel welcome after everything was done.
More expensive then the BMW stealership! Charge a flat rate instead per the hour so if your job only takes 2 hours they charge 6 hours so your paying more then going to an independent shop!
I wouldnt take my car any other place! They go above and beyond on service. I always leave extremely satisfied.
Awesome group of people with a passion for cars. Brought in my modified Golf R for an oil change and received a tour of the whole place. Early model Porsche and BMW restorations to VW service, they do it all. Very impressed with the clean workshop and almost all of the techs have been certified for 10 to 15 years. Amazing for a privately owned local Bend company.
Audi is running top notch! Q5 at 80K miles and I found the right guys to keep it purring a long time. She was fully serviced by the end of the day and I even got a ride to the gym. Thanks German Master Tech, Ill be back!!! (make sure to put service road #1 into your GPS)
When my husband and I purchased our VW Beetle from its original owner, he highly recommended German Master Tech for future service. We have not been disappointed. Besides their quality work, We have been impressed with their service. They are always there to answer or resolve even our smallest concerns.
I needed new tires/ wheels for my BMW and did not know what to get. Aaron sat with me at the computer and helped me find 4 new tires and wheels. He was extremely helpful and super patient. German Master Tech put them on and balanced them. I drove up and saw my car and fell in love with it all over again. Thanks Aaron you are the best.
Great place. Good people. Did a few services on my VW Jetta 2012 which I was very pleased with. Lower than VW dealership prices and high quality of work made a difference for me. Definetly will be coming back. Thats the way to KEEP AMERICA GREAT, fellas. Danke schön, GMT! =)
I always feel as though my car is in very good hands whenever I bring it to German Master Tech. A while back, I had moved away and was forced to go to another garage and I never felt like I could trust them. When I moved back to town and could bring my car back to GMT, I was relieved. They have even taken my car in on very short notice while I was in a tight spot and took care of it while I waited. I really appreciate them.
I came through town on a road trip and the airbag light on my 535 came on. I didnt have much time and the kids were cranky in the car.Tim put the diagnostic machine on and determined it was an electrical trip fault (of course on a Beemer) and reset it. Said if it goes off again- get it checked at my local guy.He gave me the the full diagnostic print out of the cars stats and that was that. No bill! No charge! Just- have a great tripProfessional, courteous and just darn nice.
Amazing customer service, great prices, and quality work, above and beyond my expectations.
Excellent service, a bit spendy, can not pay payments must pay total. Great friendly people
Performed a pre purchase inspection for me and was very thorough. Walked me through all the pros and cons of this particular vehicle. This was of great comfort during the purchase process.
German Master Tech has exceptional service and great people. When we have a concern, they fit us in immediately and get the job done fast. We cant imagine taking our Cayenne anywhere else.
Honest, quick, knowledgable and reliable. I took my older BMW 635 in for overheating issues. Tim knows these cars inside and out, and really worked on getting my car in top shape for a reasonable price.
Ripped me off $270 for oil change, and werent nice till I had to talk about getting more done. I found a new shop that charges $80 for an oil change! And they have been great. I dont normally post negative things about people or bad reviews, but I was pretty upset with this place considering Im a Bend local.
Only place i trust to fix my audi. 💓💓
German Master Tech has been great... They service both of our vehicles with care and attention! They are professional, knowledgeable and explain exactly what and why they are doing what is needed to service our cars!
I pulled a bone head stunt and hit a switch that turned off all interior lights in my MB m class. Thought it was a fuse. I dropped it off for diagnosis and repair. They called and said it was only the switch and there would be no charge for that but it was past due for service and oil change. I said go ahead. When I got there, they had a bill for $238 waiting for me!!!!!! What a screwing. It’ll only happen once. BEWARE.
In Response to Mr Jacksons One Star Review...Mr. Jackson was informed of the costs of our oil service and signed the check in sheet with the price clearly stated BEFORE the work was performed. I feel its rather unfair for a complaint under this situation- Mr. Jackson NOT reading what he signed and was not willing to discuss what we accomplished in regard to his vehicles servicing need. Ive followed up with a couple of calls w/o response.Details of GMT value...GMT offers two Oil Service bundles that cover basic and in depth service maintenance needs for German Cars. Our Oil Service 1 & Oil Service 2 represent a experienced take on vehicle servicing tempered by the unique needs of the Central Oregon driver. The services represent 1 hour and 2 hours respectively plus parts and condition based air & climate filters. In Mr. Jacksons case we performed our Oil Service 1 (1 hr.) and covered the requirements of the VW factory 40K service for his 2003 Jetta which by the way retails/books out at 2.7 hours! In that light alone Mr. Jackson received an awesome service value performed by my factory trained master technicians!
Tim, Aaron, and the crew are personable, professional, and know what theyre doing! I trust them to keep both of my bimmers in good shape. Thanks!
Knowledgeable service technicians.
I have had two vehicles repaired there and each time I have been totally dissatisfied! The last one was a vehicle that my station accidentally put gas in a diesel tank, so I was responsible for the repair. They first pumped out the tank, fuel lines and injector pump replaced all the filters then said it still doesnt run correctly, then they removed the tank cleaned and replaced everything including the sending unit and said the injection pump was plugged so they sent it to where they have them repaired took two weeks they reinstalled said they then needed a special tool to time it another week then said it still doesnt run right so they removed the injector pump again sent it back to the same place they finally fixed it correctly they charged me for BOTH pump repairs Ive never heard of not fixing something right the first time then fix it again and charge for both times that is shocking. They burned up the starter cranking so much! so they had to replace that, I would think a good technician would stop and fix the problem not just crank away! This repair took two months all the while I was having to pay a rental car for the owners. They charged over 6k for this repair!! I would strongly recommend not going there for anything.I had to check one star in order to post this review so disregard that.
Very friendly and helpful on the phone.
Excellent service, extreme levels of knowledge, and very fair prices makes this the shop to go to. Despite the name, they handle a great deal of Italian cars as well.
Great work, saved me a bunch of money.
Excellent Service, honest, fair pricingAm from out of town and stopped in without knowing them.
The guys at German master tech inc. are very knowledgable and professional at most issues involving the vehicles they specialize in. The reason I am actually taking the time to write a review and giving them a 1 star is to warn people to NEVER get an oil change there. Everything else is great, the owner is extremely nice and helpful but to charge over $200 for an oil lube and filter is the most rediculous service I have ever heard of. If I knew before hand the rate they charge, I would have been ok taking it somewhere else and continued to have future more acute services performed there. As of now, Im am back to feeling that all mechanics cannot be trusted and are looking for ways to fleece the public.
Definitely a big regret choosing this shop to do pre purchase inspection. I was hoping I do not have to write a review as I thought the owner Tim Morris would work things out but no, he decides to debate and keep the $300 he thinks he deserves.Long story short, I had a PPI done on a used car and was hoping GMT can point out all the flaws so that I can better make the decision. Upon receiving the report, it looks like most of the maintenance stuff are due plus power steering pump is leaking. Ok no biggie. I went ahead and ask for a quote and they quoted a ridiculous amount. For your information this is a MINI Cooper, he quoted $164 to change spark plugs (really? the parts are $28 total); $580 on front brakes (again.. really?); $43 on Air filter (again its a 2 min job and the part costs $9) and not to mention the rest of the stuff are ridiculous as well. The funny thing is, they misdiagnose the power steering pump and quoted me $951 to do the job, I am glad I didnt. Turns out the power steering pump and fan are totally fine and there was no leak. I confirmed it after buying the car and had local mechanic lifted the car and photographed it. Try to send to Tim Morris but again he doesnt want to see those and thinks he has no responsibility for this.Another misdiagnosis is the water pump. It has severe leak going on for a long time with all the marks and stain everywhere. Tim Morris insists that it was not there during the inspection and it must have happened during my drive home. Again I told him i photographed it and it is no where like a new fresh leak and again he doesnt even want to see the photos. Not to mention, besides those things, they also did not report my air bag light, sqeaky door...etc.What is the point of pre purchase inspection if general things/ major issues like those are not pointed out? I believe they did not do a thorough and honest job. And the worst thing is that all these crappy work costs me $300+ and a bad purchase on a car with more repair than I expected. What pisses me the most is when Tim Morris tells me that I choose to buy this car and since it is a used car sitting in a dealer lot it is expected to have many problems. Really?! Now that I paid $300+ to you for an inspection not only you didnt point out the major flaws but now you blame me for choosing the wrong car? If you had pointed out those major issues with honesty I wouldnt have driven 14 hours to make this purchase. I even asked the service advisor on the phone before making my trip up asking whether the car is in good purchase condition and he told me yes.I will not recommend anyone to this shop for any kind of service. I have done more research in depth today and they have the same problem with many others out there. If you just type the shop name and Tim Morris, you can find quite a few posts and reviews regarding their work.Just a piece of advice: you should listen to your customer instead for trying to back your points by debating/ twisting facts. When I said I have photos evidence, you should ask for it and verify with me and see what the problem is not ignoring and debating your way out.
This is an unusually fine operation. Very competent, honest, and great value. They did a superb job of upgrading a FZJ80 Toyota Landcruiser to a serious off-road vehicle...rooftop tent, arb bumpers, lightforce lighting, Old Man Emu lift, shocks, springs and so forth. Also did a pretty complete rebuild of 1986 BMW 735i...an awesome car when new and even now 25 years later. Bring your car to these folks and they will help you. You will find the service is more of a consultation then a behind closed doors experience. I often spend considerable time talking with the individual actually doing the service. Big thanks to these folks!!
Brought my Meredes to a local detail automotive shop. When they called to advise it was ready, they called back in 15 minutes and said there were issues with my car. The manager at the detail shop said the battery was faulty and that the battery was pulling power from the system and the battery was from Spain and was too old. When I originally dropped off the car it was in excellent driving condition and the detail shop was to just detail the inside. When I picked up the car it would not shift in 1st gear or reverse. I called AAA and asked them to tow it to German Master Tech because of the excellent service in the past.Tim, the owner, had his techs diagnos the problem and determined it was a shift modular failure and had to be corrected by a Mercedes Benz service dept.He personally drove my car to the Mercedez dealer and made numerous phone calls to the detail shop owner whom he encouraged to contact me to explain how that happened when my car was in his care. Both AAA and the Mercedes dealer tested my battery and found it to be in excellent condition.Tim really gave a 110% effort when he was very busy and was very concerned about the expensive repair I incurred.I highly recomend German Master Tech when in this instance he spent so much time and effort to to resolve a problem and received no compensation. I have been to Tim in the past and he and his employees are the BEST!!!!!
GMT Motorsports is the best. I brought Aurora, my 91 VW Westfalia, into the shop as I was passing through Bend for 3K service. When I called to see if I could get in on the same day, Tim said they would fit me in, even though they were preparing cars for the Laguna Seca Classic. He also told me there were a couple of mechanics that were Vanagon enthusiasts. I am very dependent on Aurora and need reliability out on the open, empty roads. The VW mechanics found several places where failures occur, found the parts and fixed the present and potential problems.I am back on the road with peace of mind, as Aurora purrs along. They treated me as well as the owners of the BMWs, Porches, Ferraris and even a Lamborghini that were around. I am planning on passing through again and have some upgrades done. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Have a out of warranty Porsche. This is your go to place
A well-respected and trusted shop.
Kind service and solid mechanics. It took them just 20 minutes to diagnose a knocking sound in my e30 that none of my e30 friends could pinpoint. I will be back!!
Top notch auto repair for your German ride!
Awesome place
These boys have a clean shop and jump right on fixing my car.
Good mechanic
Great guys, and reasonable prices
Excellent
